The contests I'm referring to are American Idol, The Voice and The X-Factor.

For me, much of the appeal of American Idol, when it first came out, was Simon Cowell for his witty quotes and critisism, Paula Abdul for her genuine compassion and later Steven Tyler for his uncensored " off the wall " quips.
In the Voice, I always liked Celo Green for his originality and colorfull character and Blake Shelton for his sincerety. I didn't like Adam Levine and had a feeling that he was actually high during many of the live episodes.
Christina Aguilera should have taken the show more seriously and got in better shape for it.
In the X-Factor, Simon seemed to have lost much of his wit. LA Reid at first appeared too biased and surprisingly self-centered. Britney was a total flop. She resembled some reality show owerweight and dim-witted housewife and Demi Lovato was just too young and immature.
I enjoy watching the various contestants and appreciate their talent but I feel that the selection of the judges needs to be improved and more relevant in all the shows.
I'd also like to see some new hosts.
For the life of me, I don't know what a pudgy, black widow like, personality lusterless Chloe Kardashian is doing on X-Factor.
Anyway, I would be curious to see some of your opinions on these shows, if anything, to make me feel less jaded.

She should have gotten in shape to sit in a chair and judge people? She looks fine.

Singing competitions are all the same. Lame.

Nah, she don't look fine to me. Maybe my standards are higher than yours.
Even in personal life I expect my partner to stay in shape, at least because I do.
When it comes to celebrities, I especially hold them to a higher standard.
Entertainers need to stay exceptional, otherwise what's to differentiate them from the average shopper out there.
I'm not paying money to see that.
What made Britney special, besides her pop originality and energy, was her good figure and her looks. Alas, sadly that has all dissapeared and now she looks and acts like some dim-witted, overweight middle age woman from bumtown somewhere USA.
If you like that, go for it. Definitely not my cup of tea, nor are the Kardashians, whose appeal and interest in totaly puzzles me.

Your comments are why people have eating disorders, why society is obsessed with and criticize celebs with gain weight. The show is NOT about what she looks like, it's about what she has to say. She is not there to perform, regular people are.

Spears is also not overweight. She is also not 16 anymore, like when she first hit the airwaves. Of course she is not hot, I never found her to be hot.

Maybe this is hot to you?

The thing about Britney which exposed her even more is that she had absolutely nothing to say except dughhhhhh......She was just wrong for the judge part.
As far as Christina goes, she had more wit, but I'm not a fan of over-exposed big phoney boobs and she was at least 20 pounds overweight.
As far as anorexia is concerned, they have no one else to blame but their own sick minds. What makes us different from other primates is our brain and the ability to make choices.
And sure, I'll take meat over bone but we are talking about two extremes.
I'm all for the right proportion and that's an individual thing.
