View Full Version : MoFo Fantasy Football 2012 - Week 10
11 Angry Men (3-6) vs. Sookie's Suckers (6-3)
As expected, LT got whooped in the Patriots' Bye week. But she's not exactly back to full strength this week; Jordy Nelson (who's been randomly exploding at surprisingly useful times for her squad) is on Bye, and Antonio Brown's probably going to miss this week's game. And my team's projected for an insane 144.72 points right now, which is one of the higher projections I've ever seen in this league (see below for a higher one, though).
I need to win out to even have a chance of making the playoffs, but two 7-6 teams made it in 2010, and one did last year, so there's still some hope.
PREDICTION: The 11 Angry Men unleash a whole lot of frustration this week.
Dillon Panthers (7-2) vs. Big Damn Heroes (5-4)
Jay's squad's projection is even more insane than mine; 150.16. Decent chance that this is the highest in league history, or at least right around it, and it comes from all 7 of his starters being projected for 15 or more points. A good chunk of the extra margin comes from Jennings, who's up against the the below-average Indy run defense. Foster's got a tough matchup against Chicago, but you have to wonder if he's a little matchup-proof. And of course, it's a big deal that Tampa Bay's game is at 1:00, seeing as how Doug Martin gets his powers from earth's yellow sun.
Just too much there, I think. Pretty sure Jay's squad is going to have to come down a bit by the playoffs, but at the moment they're all firing at the same time.
PREDICTION: Jay.
Team Zissou (5-4) vs. Wyld Stallyns (5-4)
Fiscal has Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. The Falcons are playing the New Orleans pass defense. Aaron Rodgers is on a Bye. Not sure any other facts are relevant here.
PREDICTION: Fiscal.
RG3scompany (6-3) vs. The Replicants (2-7)
RG3 has come down to earth in a hurry, as I said he would, though he admittedly stayed in the clouds a couple games more than I expected. He's on Bye this week, anyway, though, which means Adam's rolling with Cutler. And he's also rolling with Roddy White. See note above about Atlanta and the Saints' pass defense.
PREDICTION: Adam.
show me the money (2-7) vs. Paper Tigers (2-7)
Dusty's gotta go without Fitzgerald and Finley, though the latter might be a blessing. This is his first game after the big trade with yours truly, so he's got Romo and Charles out there, and Thomas, who's seeing more pass-catching duties with Sproles out. Think Thomas has a nice game here. I'm loathe to pick either because the matchups don't look great on either side, but I'd lean slightly towards Dex.
PREDICTION: Dex.
Liquor And Whores (4-5) vs. Beantown Champs (7-2)
PW's gone from 4-1 to 4-5, and now he's gotta take on Reverse Gypse Curse Pete, who's just 9 points back of Jay for the total points lead. But Pete's missing Trent Richardson and Randall Cobb, and McFadden might not even play, so this is a golden opportunity for an upset in what would otherwise be a very tough matchup. I think PW might steal this one.
PREDICTION: PW
1
Do or die for the 11 Angry Men, I'm afraid. If you told me right now I'd finish 7-6, I think I'd squeak into one of the last playoff spots with a tiebreaker on points. But no team has ever made the playoffs in this league without at least 7 wins. No more margin.

All I ask for is a miracle here. But probably another loss. My 1st truly bad MOFO football year.

actually my 1st non playoff year to be exact.
Don't count me out yet. ;)
Wes Welker is coming off his bye week and the Pats are taking on the woeful Buffalo Bills. Carson Palmer is a definite plug-in, but he's playing really well (as he finally has capable targets to throw at). And other than Dwayne Bowe at Pittsburgh, all of my other matchups are pretty favorable.
I think I'll give Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, and friends a fair run for their money. :D
Hehe. Yeah, I wouldn't call that a slam dunk. Though the Saints' figure to give up quite a few points. But it wouldn't shock me.
Dillon Panthers (7-2) vs. Big Damn Heroes (5-4)

PREDICTION: Jay..
Even if Yahoos undervalued my guys, I cant argue. Im still the clear underdog.
My big plays -
Hoping Brian Hartline goes off big-time on Tennesee, and CJ manages a great game vs Miami whose 3rd best in run defense.
Dropped Minnesota and snatched up Detroit (vs Minny). Hoping Matt Bryant has alot of chances to kick vs NO, or should I go Tynes v s Cinnci? Think Ill go Tynes.
Dustin Keller hopefully will do good against Seattle.
My biggest obstacle is the Carolina Panthers. Tough on QBs & WRs, and that could be bad for Peyton & Decker. Though they did carve up Houston....
With my overall point total being 7th in the league, and ranked 2nd overall, I know I appear to have gotten alot of great breaks and a fragile hold. Ive even thought that. After this week though....well lets just say Jays Heroes may be a great measuring stick. :)
Yeah, I've got something like 30 more points than you, but you have a four game lead on me! Such is fantasy football sometimes.
Especially when Pete's transferred a Gypsy Curse to you.
Cecil Shorts dials up 23 for me last night? Just look out! ;)
I have 3 defenses now. Yes there is a good reason and if anyone else had 3 defenses Im sure they'd feel the urge to explain too. Detroit (vs Minnesota) for this week then Ill drop them, use Cincinnati (vs KC) week 11 then drop them, then roll with the New York Giants. Thank you for your time.

I've seen 3 defenses before. Not like there's much else out there in the free agency, so it makes sense.

I'm very confident this week, that there will be games played and not only that. People will win and lose games too.
I'll take that bet. I predict we have THIRTEEN TIES this week.
Bank on it.

****Makes a horsey sound**** That would be crazy sir.... craaaaazeeeeeey!!!!
All I know is if my last-minute decision on why defense to play costs me a win (which happened in my other league a few weeks ago), I'll probably throw a fit.
Every year there's like, a 50-50 (or 33-33-34) lineup decision every third week, and there's really no way to break those ties reliably, so you just have to hope they even out. I've just been whiffing on them left and right all year, though, and that's enough to cost you a win or two if all the whiffs come bunched in a single year.

I prefer the; whiff early and whiff often rule myself. That is a rule isn't it?
Makes for nice, dramatic comebacks, yeah.
Forgot to mention that if TONGO wins this week, that'll be seven in a row, which will tie the league record (held jointly by LT in 2011, and myself in 2010).

Oh boy I didnt know that! Ugh! Why does Carolinas pass defense have to be so good AGH!
If I tie this record I have to admit it isnt with a steady hand. Im freaking cause Jays lineup this weeks so freakish.
Well, today's the day. Do-or-die. Quite plausible to make the playoffs at 7-6, and if I get there I should have the points to win the necessary tiebreakers. But the odds are basically zero if you finish under .500, so I have to win today (and the next three weeks), or I'll miss the playoffs for the first time in league history.
Sookie's got an annoyingly good matchup for her Pats. All but one of her players are spread out over just three games, and all her starters are going at 1:00 PM.
HERE WE GO!

Me vs. Dex in the toilet bowl game. I have a feeling Dex has this one.

I'm off to a pretty bad start with Jennings being overly limpish on Thursday, even for him.

Neither is Yahoo. Is it down for everyone?
It's hanging a bit over here, yeah. Actually, surprised that hasn't happened way more this year. I guess ditching the busted chat has helped a lot on that front.
Im also having trouble accessing it.
Man, going down 10 minutes before the 1:00 games...lots of people must be freaking out right now if they had some last-minute change to make. There really haven't been any late, shocking inactives, so there's not much excuse, but it happens.
Should we use a less used fantasy site next year? Ive mostly played Yahoo and it seems to be the best. I havent played an ESPN league, but CBS and NFLs are kinda meh. Both are good for info though.
After the 1:00 games alls Ill have left to play is Dustin Keller vs Seattle. Jay has Big Ben/Heath Miller, Arian Foster, and Gould & Dallas. Figure Ill need to be 75 points ahead of Jays Heroes after the 1:00 games to have a chance.
LT rolls with two very sketchy TEs, and both have TDs. Of course they do.
Yahoos down again. Before it did my lead over Jay was like 40 points. Not enough :(
Scratch that: the two sketchy TEs combined for something like 45 points, three times their projection, and Olsen tops 30 to offset Gonzalez's big day. Wha? Stupid football.
Anyway, I was in the lead or right around there near the end, but a few late scores bumped LT up. Now I need like 20 out of Mike Wallace and Miles Austin combined, so I should be okay. But it's not a total slam dunk.
My bad, it's more like 18. So if they do half as well as projected, I should make it.
Actually, the most interesting thing at this point is that, if LT loses, she'll completely shatter the record for Highest Losing Score. It's currently held by TONGO, who lost to me with 154.24 points in Week 5 of 2010. At her current mark LT would destroy that with 163.98.
We're also very likely to finish with the second Highest Combined Score in league history, too, but probably not the highest (there's a huge gap between first and second in that category).
I can not believe I didn't start Andy Dalton today. The dude struggles in the last two games, and then puts up 4 TDs against the defending Super Bowl champs. It looks like I'd be doomed anyway, but still...
Wow. After all this, it's still not a gimme. I need 13.37 points from Wallace tomorrow or my season is over.
If I actually lose with 150-something points because of two simultaneous one in a hundred TE breakouts, I might just have a nervous breakdown.
I winced when I saw you didnt play Felix Jones over Miles Austin. Dallas and Romo are waaaaay too random to count on any of their WRs for every game. He was a new trade toy though.... so I understand.
Im only 25 points ahead of Jay and hes still got Arian Foster, Big Ben to Heath Miller, and Gould. Feels like a Big Damn Herosized pendulum slowly dropping on me arse.
I dunno if Dallas is random, but the reasoning was pretty simple: Austin had at least 14 points in every single game but one before this week. He's been remarkably consistent.
If I go down this'll definitely be one of the most frustrating losses I've ever had. Ugh.

Arrrrrgggg!!!!! Practice it maybe. In the mirror or something.
ARGGGGHHHH!
Getting better. I find it helps a lot when I remind myself that Scott Chandler somehow scored 17 points, and Greg Olsen somehow scored 31. Then it comes really naturally.
I even said "You are playing Greg Olsen? Are you trying to lose?"
I know nothing about Fantasy Football.
There, I said it.
The saddest thing is, you were right. You were totally playing the odds with that advice.
Well, Fred Jackson isn't playing next week, which makes C.J. Spiller an insanely great play again (even though he keeps putting up 15 points even splitting work!). That'd put me in a pretty good position, ostensibly, to win next week, if I can survive tonight. Then I'd be just two away, in all likelihood...
Mike Wallace just caught a touchdown in between his freakin knees! Hopefully itll stand as that was more impressive than most one handed grabs.
They just announced it counted.
I was watching it live and flipped out. That's one of the bet TD catches you'll ever see, and it could easily be the difference tonight. HUGE play.

I guess Roeth potentially injured.
I know this game must be killing Chris. Hes within a catch of beating LT and now Leftwich is throwing. Game started hot then went to hell. Dionnes hopes of beating me in the Jungle most likely are gone due to bad performances from Pittsburgh & Heath Miller. Still 9:14 left in 4th quarter....
So bad. I need three more and I'd have it if not for the Ben injury.
Ugh. Was looking plenty safe until the injury. Now they can't throw at all and time's running out. This is brutal.
Yoda...were you hoping Succop made that kick? :p
I don't even know any more.
Unbelievable. Just needed a dinky catch or two in an entire half of football, but Ben gets hurt and it doesn't happen. Just like that, season's over.
Most frustrating, inexplicable loss I think I've ever had. Every part of its crazy. It's the highest ever losing score. Chandler for 17, Olsen for 31, the kicker scoring 15, Austin and Wallace combining for just 15. I'm stunned.
Upon 2nd glance at schedule I guess your playoff hopes are gone. For some reason I keep thinking FFB is a 16 game season.
Safe bet youll go undefeated the rest of the way though. I think your lineups the most dominant in the league by far. It almost mirrors my Jungle team. You might break some point records too.
Wow! What a crazy game of FFB! Congrats to Sookie for the seriously shrewd waiver moves (against my advice, btw). I need to start paying attention to how this girl plays!
Notable records from this week:
Highest Losing Score: yours truly with 161.02, shattering the old record by almost 7.
Combined Score: LT and I combined for 325 points, the second highest in league history (I was on the losing end of the highest, too).
Highest Scores: LT had the 21st highest score in history; I had the 26th, tying myself in Week 10 of '10 (an exact tie: 161.02 in both).
Margin of Victory: the margin of 2.96 was the 26th closest in league history.
Everything is stupid.
