This was the most underrated movie of the year. I have my own review page on facebook (link is under my username) and I hadn't heard much about this movie outside of commercials on TV and I wasn't too interested in watching it but I did anyways just for my page. After watching it I realized this had been a huge misconception. Everyone on Rotten Tomatoes seems to agree that this movie was very underrated.

I would like to know how many of you have seen this movie and if you agree. And if you haven't seen it I want to know what your current notions are.

My review is on my page.

Yeah, a second is okay for reviews. Though, speaking of which...I've moved this thread to Movie Reviews. :) Please make sure to place threads in the correct forum and all that jazz.

We should probably merge these two threads then...but with the title for this one cause the guy who made the other one stinks.

I don't care where the thread is. I don't care what the title is. I don't care about any of that. I made this thread to get peoples reviews on the movie and all anyone is talking about is the thread itself...

Well, it's not a very good thread, buddy. :skeptical:

My thoughts are in the other thread. I'll rehash for you cause you can't click it appears.

Decent, more dramatic than comedic, did not like ending.

Thumb Way Up

9/10

There really isn’t one aspect of the actual events of this story that isn’t some kind of spoiler, the less known the better. It’s better to watch this thing completely fresh. That’s how I saw it and it made the experience far better it would seem. Without getting in to detail, the story itself starts off bizarre and it seems like they simply picked the wrong subject to try and make a dramedy about. Yet, getting to know and sympathize with Carell’s character is what flat out makes the film. Keira Knightley is wonderful and this is probably the best thing I’ve ever seen her do. The overall tone fights itself a LOT as it jumps from the morose to the absurd to events that just aren’t logical. Still, since no one has faced the end of the world, what exactly is logical? They did respectfully touch on the aspect of faith but it struck me more that they went out of their way to avoid the subject for the most part. To me, that’s playing it way too safe. They did that a lot with many subjects that you would expect to come up in an end of days film. Overall, the movie has heart and elicited real emotion from me.

Yes I completely agree with you.

You know I got on this site originally because it's hard to find a good forum on the web today where things are simple and just about movies. This forum has so far been the worst of all where people would rather talk about where posts should be or other peoples threads, or pretty much ANYTHING ELSE THAN WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING WHICH IS TALKING ABOUT MOVIES!!!

I really really REALLY loved this movie. I just watched it last week actually. I had basically NO idea what was going to happen because the trailer didn't give away any surprises and I didn't peak at any reviews because I love to be surprised... anyways...

Honest rating: 9/10
The whole time I wasn't sure what was going to happen at the end. I really couldn't tell if the world was really going to end or it there would be a turn out of a "happy" ending. I was suspecting it would be a happy ending. My thought was that the astroid would just pass Earth and that they two would live happily ever after. And I am not kidding, the ending where they are laying in bed and then you start to hear debries of the astroid hitting Earth it hits you hard in the heart. No joke, I was crying. Literally tears rolling down my face at the end. The emotion was POWERFUL. I hadn't had that power of emotion since Armageddon!! There are few movies that the emotion actually gets tears down my face. (Pleanty of movies tho where my eye get watery-but no tears) I thought it was a fun ride though, the scenes keep you sucked it the whole time. There wasn't a dull moment for me and I loved the transformation in the characters. Not only was I engaged in the film but it actually made me happy at times... to see that even though the world was inevitably ending, people were still celebrating and having a good time. It was thought provoking. I thought to myself, "If the world was going to end in two weeks, I too would be having the time of my life in my last days." I wouldn't just waste them cowering in fear and crying over things I hadn't yet done. Instead I would be happy for the experiences I did have, and like I said, just have fun and not stress about the daily things we always stress about. Anyways, by my big rant of the movie it's easy to tell that I was a big fan of this. It's so hard for me to ever give something a perfect 10/10 because I know nothing is PERFECT... so basicallly me giving it a 9/10 is the same thing as a 10/10. :)

I'm sure nobody read my whole paragraph so to make it short and sweet:
GREAT MOVIE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

^^ This post really offended me. That is very untrue. There are THOUSANDS of threads about MOVIES on here and us users are very passionate about our love of film. Give this website a shot pinion, trust me it IS the best one out there.
