Have you watched any of the other episodes? I liked parts of the first episode too. What did you think of the other shows?

Yeah, I like this, too. I still find it a touch too preachy at times, but then it's Sorkin, so I have to accept that because it's not going to stop. We're upto episode 8, The Blackout, Part 1: Tragedy Porn, which I think is my favourite episode so far. This is fast becoming the programme I look forward to the most each week.

I've just watched one show, though I've got it series linked with my Foxtel....so it pre-records it.

Cool. Let us know what you think if you keep watching.

Ehhh... I don't know. I like the humor and a lot of the performances (Daniels, Waterston), but I find a lot of it annoying (Mortimer's screeching) or boring (A love triangle? Real original, Sorks). Above all though the show really hasn't made me care about the characters, so I'll probably finish out the season and leave it at that.

It's a shame there's only 10 episodes in the first season. Last one for us next week. :(

Yeah, it does suck. The finale was on here last week. We have to wait until next summer for Season 2.

Last night I watched the one when he got a death threat. How he explained online posters....cracked me up. He said "a 10 year old could be a poster" lol! It's so true. Like here, anyone can post.

"From the mind of Aaron Sorkin, creator of The West Wing and screenwriter of The Social Network and Moneyball, comes The Newsroom, a behind-the-scenes look at the people who make a nightly cable-news program.

Focusing on a network anchor, his new executive producer, the newsroom staff and their boss, the series tracks their quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles-not to mention their own personal entanglements."

What do you think of it? Any expectations on Season 3?

Personally, I love it! It deals with very controversial and actual subjects, and there are some episodes that are among the finest I've ever seen (the one about the Tea Party and the first one, for example).

I hope to see some references to U.S.A. role in the conflicts between Russia vs.Ukraine and Israel vs. Palestine and I hope they don't lose this way of criticizing!

For the ones who don't know it, here's the very first scene of the series, in my opinion it's one of the best speeches ever in a TV Show!

Well, at least we're getting one. With the end of season 2 I really did wonder.

I'm not normally a big fan of Sorkin, just because I find the wet dream Liberal speeches to cringing and cloying to work for me. Not only that, but they destroy much of what goes before them. However, it isn't that way with The Newsroom. Not the speeches, they're still there, though lessened, I feel, but the drama is so good and jouralism is something I think about and feel has been completely bastardised and turned merely into another form of entertainment. Worse than that, though, is that it still has the gravitas of news, making it far more dangerous/insidious and, if an entertainment programme with the weight of The Newsroom can show someone, anyone, that, then it's worth its place in the schedule as far as I'm concerned.

Gosh, Season 3 had a hell of a first episode! If they keep it this way for the entire season it will be EPIC!!!

Ok... Just finished watching the 5th episode of the third and last season, that will have 6 episodes in total! Next week is the last one and I can say frankly this is the best season I ever saw in a TV Show! Whatever happens in the next episode, The Newsroom will be one of my favourite tv shows forever!

I am eight episodes in on season one of this brilliantly written and acted HBO drama from the creator of The West Wing. Aaron Sorkin is the creative force behind this up close look at the production of a cable news show, anchored by the volatile, always-speaks-without-filter, Will Anthony, brought to vivid life by Jeff Daniels, who won two Emmys for his work on this show. Emily Mortimer is cast radically against type as the show's executive producer. Olivia Munn is a lot of fun as an economic journalist who often consults with the show, as is Sam Waterston, in a role light years away from Jack McCoy, as McAvoy's hard-drinking boss and the BIG boss who apparently owns the show is played by two time Oscar winner Jane Fonda, who has only made one appearance so far. Sadly, the show suffers from the Murphy Brown syndrome that it automatically dates itself because all shows are centered around the current news and this current news is from 2012. One thing that nags at me is that other than Daniels and Mortimer, I'm really not sure what any of the other people in the newsroom actually do, with the exception of Dev Patel, who is definitely the IT guy, but the show is so well-written and so well-acted, I have learned to stop obsessing about it and just drink this deliciously entertaining drama in.

Is it really 7 years old? Fairly sure I own season 1, but definitely didn’t continue. Maybe I came to it late, but doesn’t seem like 7 years ago that I watched it.

Am two episodes into season 2 now...the scenes of Will covering 911 on his first day at work were amazing.

I watched this when broadcast and I loved it. A little too much of a liberal's wet dream at times, but it's Sorkin and that's what he does. Still a tremendous drama though, with heart and a conscience.

I wouldn't mind seeing this again sometime. Glad you're enjoying it, Gideon. :)

Just started the third and final season...oh...my...god. This show is amazing. Is there any actor who was working in 2012 who did NOT appear on this show?

The Newsroom is an example of a good drama show by Aaron Sorkin, starring Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher Jr and Sam Waterston. This show is dedicated mostly to the problems of journalism and journalists, who are ready to work extra hours to find the story or uncover the truth.

Story of the show is pretty straightforward and the ending can be easily guessed by an experienced viewer, but the main worthiness of a series lies not in the story as a whole but in small pieces, everyday incidents it is made from.

Aaron Sorkin shows us the inner kitchen of a news agency and sells us the ideals of journalism as opposed to tabloids and yellow press. Checking the sources, presenting different opinions and looking for valuable information all combined define good journalist. The story shows us how some journalists can go wrong in their career but others fix own mistakes. It shows us how the majority can be wrong or how sometimes evidence can not prove anything but misinformation. The story tells us how big news can coexist with small individual successes as it clearly shows how our lives can be full of small headlines.

I won't say this show will be interesting to all the people, nor can I say it's made only for journalists. Clearly if you want to enjoy the true deepness of the story you need to look between the lines of real events to see the common meanings like you would do in "War and Peace" written by Leo Tolstoy.

In the cast I can note Jeff Daniels, who has won two Emmy Awards and received several Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and Tony Award nominations, Sam Waterston, who is noted for his portrayal of Sydney Schanberg in The Killing Fields, and Grace Gummer playing supporting role, who would later cast in Mr. Robot as Dominique DiPierro.

The Newsroom is often listed as a show similar to Suits and they really have a lot in common. They both tell us stories that can happen in real life with real people. There are no main or secondary characters: fate of the company and its employees is in the center of attention. Almost all episodes of this type of shows end with a positive attitude, they’re not trying to threaten us with a drama in the next episode. We can safely watch this show before going to sleep: it has a neutral start, some drama in the middle and a happy ending, when we usually see a bunch of these hard workers drinking whiskey in the office or nearby bar.

After all, the Newsroom is just another HBO show out there. It doesn't bring much to the table as Suits have already done the same thing and they did it better. The most iconic scenes of the show (such as start of the first episode) are related to the US politics which here in Europe we don't know much of. For us it isn't that entertaining to see the political stories from the past years as we can't connect those to our everyday lives. And that's probably the main reason the show isn't that popular in my country.
