Tony Romo is on the block.
Yoda, I want Peyton. Lets talk.
http://nflsoup.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/peyton-manning-broncos-qb.jpg
I got Peyton, and really hope now the Broncos have a fantastic year.
I gave up Tony Romo & Jamaal Charles for Peyton Manning & Willis McGahee. Sigh! Expensive, but the bottom line is I dont respect Tony Romo. I put him in the same category as Flacco, and Sanchez.

Cripes sakes Tongs. Why do you bother to draft?
Wow. Definitely not a deal Yoda could pass up.
Yeah, I had to, but it wasn't without some hesitation, actually. I worry about Romo; we might have already seen his ceiling. And I do think most people are going to feel silly doubting Peyton by the time the season is over.
I mainly just wanted a litle more upside at RB, and I feel a bit better having nabbed Schaub. I guess we'll see.
Will say one thing: draft position fades into memory even quicker in football than it does in baseball, for sure. And it really does after that first game.

be that as it may, the gap between Romo and Manning is nowhere near as signifigant as the chasm between Charles and McGahee.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtqF7insWPU
Yeah, Charles is the real prize and I think your WRs will make up for the difference between a revitalized Peyton Manning and a so-so Tony Romo (heh, that's almost alliterative).
The real question is MJD: what's his holdout going to do to your roster? If he comes back, an MJD/Charles pairing is really strong, assuming they both stay healthy. If he doesn't, well, at least you've upgraded your RB2. Running Willis McGahee and C.J. Spiller would be painful, methinks.
Yeah, I'm definitely counting on my WRs to pick up some slack elsewhere. And I think they're up to it. That's three guys all with top 10 potential out there each week. And if someone like Titus Young steps up (which I think is plenty possible), they all make very attractive trade chips.
Re: MJD. I'm not at all concerned about the holdout being a long-term thing. Maybe a tiny bit in the short-term. They might limit his workload for the first game, two at most I think. But beyond that he's been as steady as they come.
What really impresses me is that he seems to put up numbers even when the rest of the team around him is horrible. Behind a decent line, and on a team with a few other genuine weapons, he'd probably be the #1 guy in fantasy. It's amazing that he does what he does on such a bad team.
The real striking this thing year is how many questions there are around all but three or four guys, really. WAY more judgment than usual this year has to do with unpredictable things like injury recovery, workload splits, and holdouts, than usual, where the primary concern is usually more about skill level.
Just saw that in today's preseason game Peyton was 10 for 12 for 122 yards and 2 TDs. Against last year's #2 defense, San Francisco.
Preseason, obviously, so take it how you will. I'll bet there's some leagues where he fell to, like, the 6th or 7th round, though, where he'll end up winning it for his owners.
What I think is interesting is Cam Newton went largely undrafted last year and ended up being a free agent steal for a lot of people (me included), and now this year, Robert Griffin III seems to be getting nabbed in middle rounds. Not that they're at all the same player, obviously, but it seems people aren't going to diss the value this year.
DexterRiley
08-26-12, 06:42 PM
That swings both ways though sleeze. The mob is a fickle bunch. Take Mike Vick for instance. He was going off the board routinely in teh 1st round between Rodgers and Brady. This year i got him in the 6th.
NFL is very much a what have you done for me lately sorta league.
I think this is gonna be a growing pains season for RG III, and Cam (yeah I wanted him 2nd to Peyton) is one of those once in a lifetime type players. Not even Peyton manning was as good as Cam Newton in his first year.
Dont believe the term trade-rape should apply to this deal. That term seems to apply to a trade waaaaay lopsided, kinda like how Dex fleeces Raul :D. Yodas getting an upgrade in RB (hopefully), and Im getting an upgrade in QB. If Peytons successful then I feel McGahees #'s should improve from last year too.
Dont forget about Roy Helu! I feel hes gonna be a PPR dream this season, and yes Im counting on Shannahan to use him as his primary. <<not as much a facepalm as Im peeking thru my fingers.
DexterRiley
08-26-12, 07:26 PM
Yoda is getting a Massive upgrade at RB.
Manning and Romos numbers will likely be very close. If anything, Romo has the edge with the proven weapons downfield.
u been rode hard and put away wet.
Nope your wrong. 2010 Peytons was the 4th highest ranked QB, and Romo was out of comission. So there goes that durability edge. 2011 without Peyton in the mix Romo ranked 7th overall in QBs. Thats no big deal cause Josh Freeman was 7th overall the year before that.
Jamaal Charles is gonna have a huuuuuge mooch of points with Peyton Hillis in the mix. McGahee is da' man unquestioned in Denver because Knowshon aint never shown :nope:
Plus I got that sexy Peyton to Decker connector. I like a QB/WR combo for my team.
DexterRiley
08-26-12, 07:54 PM
um Tongs. the best year Charles ever had, was when Thomas Jones was fillen the Hillis role.
it seems maddenin when u own him, but he's always fresh for the PPR goodness.
im not understanding the durability part of the argument.
Manning is coming off an entire lost year and several neck surgeries.
DexterRiley
08-26-12, 07:56 PM
time will tell. its just my opinion maaaaan.
The more I hear about the neck stuff, the less it seems to matter. Apparently there's really nothing about the injury that makes it likely to recur at this point.
The real arguments about Manning are a) rust and b) not playing indoors. I'm not worried about either, but those are probably the biggest reasons to wonder about him. That and maybe age, though I don't think anyone's too worried about him there. Maybe next year.
Anyway, I'd much rather have Peyton than Romo this year. I hope I'm wrong on that, though.
Quick reminder that we did, indeed, move to a one-day trade review this year, as suggested earlier. That means one FULL day, so if it's accepted on a Friday, the one full day is Saturday, and it becomes official on Sunday. So basically, barring weird Thursday games and stuff, a trade that's accepted (not proposed, accepted) Friday night should go through for the Sunday games.

I want to offer some trades, I could use RB depth. It's insane how everything is just flipped on it's head the first couple of weeks though, so I think I'll wait it out.

I almost vetoed this trade on principle.
I'm not shy to say that I vetoed it. Not that it matters, cause it will go through. Yoda's already got a head start on everyone this year. And this one is from trading dust.
Why is raul in the league? Hes nothing but an annoyance.
_______________
I think Peyton Manning is the best QB in the NFL, always have. When Brett Favre went to Minnesota he rocked his first year, and thats because he had a superior squad surrounding him than he had in Green Bay. I know Denver is waaaaaay better put together than Indianapolis, and Peyton could throw to a broom and have a 300 yard game.
McGahee is the man in Denver, and I strongly believe McGahee will do better this year than last. Jamaal Charles wont have as good a year as he did in 2010 because Peyton Hillis will have more leech impact than Thomas Jones.
I hate Romo. Like in a way youd hate a player that chokes. Aikman didnt have half the talent Romo does, but Romo proves, like Vinnie Testaverde did too, that great talent doesnt help you in the clutch. Thats when nerve and guts come in.
Listen guys, I want who I want, and I dont let any math stop me :) Thats just how I play.
Why does you saying you THINK he is the best in the league mean anything. It's all about the numbers, and he is not the best in the league, in point of fact. Rodgers is the best all around football player active in the NFL right now, period. He has the highest floor, the most upside, and a stellar history over the last three years. I am a die-hard Pats fan and I state this with confidence and certitude.
These days, I'd only veto something if I couldn't possibly see the logic in it. The logic here is that Romo's increasingly mediocre and Charles is coming off of an injury that impairs your burst--which is pretty much his entire game. And that Manning's going to be awesome again.
Obviously, I like the deal and wouldn't have done it if I didn't. I'm betting the dropoff from Manning to Romo won't be too bad and Charles will bounce back to his old self by the second half. But I don't have any trouble imagining very plausible ways in which it doesn't work out, or only sort of works out.
That's my veto standard; each of yours may be different, and hey, you're entitled to that.

If you wanted Peyton Manning so badly why didn't you take him in 3rd/4th round? Your a fool if you think that you are getting the better deal. Only way it works for you is via injury.
Oh, and thanks for the neg reps, keep em coming.

Oh yeah I am. When I took a ribbing for offering you Jason Kipnis for Sabathia you acted like I was trying to fleece you. So Ill be publicizing the trade offers as they all come :). If theyre offers like that one then its best not to bother.
DexterRiley
09-12-12, 09:42 PM
good to know. Any offers i make to you will be done so here then.
And yeah offering a Waiver wire level 2B having a good couple of weeks for Sabbathia was ridonkelous.
Looking at possibly moving either C.J. Spiller or Mike Wallace; Spiller's emergence is huge and awfully nice, but I can't play them both every week. Obviously, Nicks works, too, if the price is right.
FYI on Spiller: I'm pretty much completely sold on him, so he won't come particularly cheap, given how great he was last week and how awesome he looks again this week. Not just because of the raw talent, but because with Jackson out there's seriously nobody else of consequence vying for touches. That combination of talent and opportunity is increasingly hard to come by.
And hey, while I was typing this Spiller just broke a 38-yard-run, too. Wheeee.
EDIT: and he scored a second TD just after I posted this. 23 points in just over one quarter. Good grief. Maybe I should just try to deal Wallace.
I'd love to have a reliable flex in either of those guys, but not sure I can afford either one.
I would like either guy as well, would it be backwards to ask what you think would work on my team?
Don't mind you coming at it that way. I'll take a look and send you both PMs.
Another PM sent.

Tony Romo is getting picked apart on MNF by the Chicago Bears. 3 interceptions so far, and theyre still in the 3rd qtr. (Edit In - Now hes at 5 interceptions with 5 min left to play in the 4th qtr)
Dont miss him. Before Week 1 in an 8 team league I dropped him to waivers outright. In retrospect on the Peyton trade (Gave Jamaal Charles/Tony Romo for Peyton Manning/Willis McGahee) it wasnt Peyton homer love that made the deal exciting for me, but the fact I held Romo of no value whatsoever  and so it was like I was just giving up my 2nd rounder for Peyton & Willis.
Thankfully Yoda has Schaub and isnt getting stung, and Charles is everything everyone hoped he'd be.
Sent an offer Beantown Champs (Petey) way - Steve Smith & Brandon Pettigrew for Jimmy Graham. We'll see.
Sedai Ill give you Vick Ballard, Donald Browns replacement for 3 weeks, for Jared Cook. Offer sent.
I need a decent RB to plug in for Darren Sproles this week. Anybody got a spare ball carrier?
rauldc14
10-10-12, 11:32 PM
i'll take vick ballard for olsen
Hold that thought Raul. Olsens on a Bye next week, and Im talking with Sleezy regarding one of his Tight Ends right now.
Ok Raul if you want Ballard Ill give him to you for Greg Olsen. Your offer is sent ;)
I see I had a trade offer sent and retracted all while I slept...
Meanwhile, anyone trading for Vick Ballard has to be completely desperate for RB at this point. Brown was already a shaky flex play, and his back-up is right out. I would seriously rather run Bolden vs the number 1 defense in the league rather than slot Ballard on that silly Indy team.

Willing to trade Brees, Austin, Jennings, Fitzgerald, Finley and Floyd. The only way I'll do it is if more than 3 players on each side are involved, just for the fun of it. I'm 0-5 and looking for a "new" team.
Sent an offer Peteys way for Jimmy Graham. Know Graham is seriously hurt but I offered Hartline & Olsen. He might go for it, but Id be surprised.
Well, just made a huge trade with Adam:
Roddy White
http://www.falconsfocus.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Roddy_White02.jpg
-FOR-
Ray Rice
http://www.fantasyleaguegm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/ray-rice-ravens-playoffs-9ddceb3b3bcf8795_large1.jpg
Big, straightforward deal. Rice has a Bye this week, and Roddy already had his, and that gave me pause for a good 24 hours, actually, because I think their values are pretty close to even anyway so far this year. And that's going to hurt me this week, with MJD out (ugh) and Spiller on Bye. But I have some decent Flex options, too.
Mercifully, MJD's only gonna miss a few games. And when he comes back I'll apparently be playing MJD, Ray Rice, and Jamaal Charles, with C.J. Spiller forcing his way in. This is obviously going to be an insane situation, so it anyone needs a stud RB, I guess I'm your man.

How do you trade Ray Rice for Roddy White? Roddy is a nice player, but c'mon man. Your buddy Adam is nuts, Chris.
Probably because White already had his Bye, and Rice is having his this week. Toss in White being on pace for career highs in TDs and yards, and that extra game sounds about right. Which is why I actually thought about it for a little over a day before accepting.

I remember when Yoda landed MJD with Randy Moss a couple years ago. Hey Yoder please PM me your WR sales presentation. ;)
In talks with PW. Beastmode may or may not be with the Dillon Panthers later.
Yeah, next week I get Spiller and Rice back from Byes, and Titus Young suddenly looks like somebody that needs to be in a starting lineup. And a week or two from now MJD gets thrown into that insane mix, too. So I'm definitely open to any deals that would clear up this logjam.
This is definitely not a problem a lot of 2-5 teams have.

I gots RB up the bunghole, doesnt seem to matter. Baseball was challenging yet effortlessly easy.
Football is stupid.
Oh quit yalls bellyaching. This is a good season! :) Best season ever!
Marshawn Lynch is now on Liquor & Whores!!!
http://chalkthemup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Grill.jpg
L&W also got Brandon Pettigrew from me. In exchange I got another "Gold Teef" RB in Chris Johnson, and Reggie Wayne. I guess Wayne and Peyton are together again!
Im taking a chance on losing Lynch. I know CJ has as much upside as Lynch, and has displayed even more in previous years. Also know CJ catches twice the amount of balls. Touchdowns? Nah, Marshawn will get more TDs to make up for lack of catches.
If I didnt have McGahee & Morris this trade would never had happen. My WR2 slot was being unpredictable, and know I can slot Decker & Wayne each week no question, Alfred & Willis in my RB slots, and mostly CJ in my Flex or Steve Smith depending on the matchup.
This, to me, is an extremely lopsided trade.
PW, are you sure you want to give up these guys? Reggie Wayne is killing it and Chris Johnson is starting to pick it up. I don't think Lynch is going to be that much of an upgrade (not at the expense of Wayne) and you're not going to get consistent production out of Pettigrew, plus the Lions are facing a tough backside schedule.
I know you've taken three straight losses (I've just eaten two straight). But this trade, I fear, will dilute your team while further empowering TONGO's. I wouldn't panic, man. You're only two games back from first and we're coming out of the Byes. At the very least, you're in good position to sneak into the playoffs.
I think it's reasonable, in that I can see why someone would both think Johnson is "back" and how they might think he's still pretty risky to own and might be at his most valuable right now.
Pettigrew will be like penicilin to Liquor & Whores. His roster more than any is weak at TE. So PW is gaining a better RB, and he has Stafford so he will have a sexy Stafford to Pettigrew connection now. Connections are fun. :)
My tough give is losing Marshawn and his tough give is losing Wayne. Im willing to take a chance on one of my RB slots to fill my WR2 slot. Hes willing to lose Wayne to get Marshawn, and a TE he can count on each week. I think its fair.
Yeah, I just think Reggie Wayne is a better, more consistent player than Marshawn Lynch, and Chris Johnson is a far better player than Brandon Pettigrew.
I'd much rather have Lynch. I assumed that was the logic behind their deal. Just my opinion, though.
Raul and Yoda made a good trade. Raul gave Brees & Miles Austin for Romo, Jamaal Charles, and Pierre Thomas. Now Dustin has a complete team and Yoda a real QB, plus a needed WR after losing Roddy White

not surprised. I finally get a awesome RB and he goes down. Just my luck.
Dusty mentioned to me that he didn't realize the trade was going to go through this week even with Charles playing, so I'm gonna try to do the fair thing and cancel the deal, conditional on it being resubmitted and accepted on Sunday, so it'll go through on Tuesday after the Monday night game (where Brees is playing).
Just FYI in case anyone gets confused by the machinations. Seems like the fair thing to do anyway, especially with the tough timing on the injury, if it turns into anything.
The honorable thing to do :)
Sproles out 4-6 weeks, apparently. So Dusty actually catches a huge break, because Pierre Thomas is heading over to him, too, in the Charles deal, and he should be the guy for at least awhile.

I really don't expect much of anything from Thomas. It's still pretty much a timeshare with Thomas and now Ingram and I'm sure we will somehow hear Ivory's name.
And, Dex, when on earth did I ever propose Brees for Andre, Calvin, Turner, and S Jax? Only thing I remember seeing is a Flacco and Turner for Brees deal you sent me that I laughed at. Though somehow Turner is finding a way to become the best worst fantasy RB this year.
I wouldn't be too worried about Ingram; he's only been getting 4-5 touches a game and he's averaging less than 3 YPC. And most importantly: he's not part of the passing game. Thomas could slide right into most of Sproles' role there.
Got Thomas in my other league (Sproles, too), and I'm thinking I might not miss a beat, frankly. Maybe half a beat.

Sent a offer Fiscals way for his New York Giants defense. Offering Minnesota and LaRod Stephens-Howling. LSH is a starter, and starting RBs are a limited commodity. Arizonas offensive lines crap though so LSH would best be used vs weak matchups.
The New York Giants are now on the Dillon Panthers :)

I coughed up Jeremy Maclin to Fiscal Zissou to compliment Lawrence Tynes. Always liked having a kicker and defense from the same team. You only need to pay attention to one game instead of two, and this is one of those occasions where both are performing at the top.
Everyone: trading deadline is this Friday, November 16th. Just FYI.
Trying to make one last deal. Offering Alfred Morris & Steve Smith to Petey for Jimmy Graham, and to Jay for Doug Martin.
Shopping around Andy Dalton, if anyone needs some short-term QB help because of injuries. He's put up some great numbers this year (thanks to A.J. Green) and last week was no exception. He's a viable starter. Hoping to get a dent starter WR or RB in return.
Well I guess Jay has joined the group that never responds to a trade offer with a yes, no, reject, accept, or anything at all. Sent email, and a PM just now when I saw he was on the site. Nothing. Why dont these people start a no trading league together?
Seemed like a quiet year on the trade front. Biggest trade has to go to Yoda & rauldc14s trade where Chris unloaded Romo & Charles for Brees & Austin.
Most important trade was mine with Yoda on draft day, and I feel spelled out each of our seasons. Looking at the numbers then it looked lopsided to Yodas advantage. Romo ended up sucking even worse than I thought him capable, and the Chiefs ended up sucking even more than that.
Best trade-rape goes to Yoda who got Ray Rice and alls he had to give up was Roddy White
I didnt do too many trades, and feel is why I might actually make the playoffs. Sad to say but I am usually my teams worst enemy.
I haven't done the exact math, but I had literally three different trades nearly happen in the first few weeks of the season (and one at the midpoint), all of which would've almost certainly saved my season. All were borderline deals that nearly happened.
And I'm pretty sure the much maligned Manning/McGahee for Romo/Charles deal ended up being both pretty even overall, and costing me a win or two based on how the players involved distributed their points. So...yeah. There were, like, nine different coin flip situations this year that, if even one of them goes the other way, I'm still playing, and none of 'em did.
Oh, and in case anyone's interested:
League trades in 2010: 22
League trades in 2011: 20
League trades in 2012: 8
Four teams didn't trade at all this year, including--get this--all of the top three seeds.
