In a surprise post pre-fight press press conference scheduled for the UFC 146 event, six UFC fighters were tested and Overeem was found with elevated leveles of testasterone (10 X 1).
After, he had bulked up with close to 50 punds of muscle in a relatively short period of time, for years there was speculation that Overeem might be using steroids but he was fighting in organizations that either didn't test or their testing wasn't as comrehensive as UFC's.
Even in UFC, in the past, the tests were almost always held immediately after the fights, so some knowledgeable fighters could train on roids and then get-off in time or use masking agents to prevent detection. As this was a completely suprising and previously unannounced test, almost 7 weeks prior to the scheduled event, anyone with steroids in his system would have been detected.
Now for Overeem to get liscenced to fight in Nevada, he has to get cleared of these test results. If he doesn't get cleared, he will not be in the UFC 146 Heavyweight Title fight against Junior Dos Santos ( who, by the way did pass the same test ).
Fan reaction?

Wow, I found an MMA fan here
I wasn't to shocked actually, after theta bounced 6 fighters were randomly tested I thought that Allistar will test positive. Always thought he was overrated.
I think they Should do Mir vs JDS an if his back is better put Carwin up against Cain, or Werdum if he's ready

This isn't the place to discuss this, there's a UFC thread in the television forum. 98% op the people here don't care about MMA, so good luck getting a lot of replies. Me myself, I don't care btw. Overeem is overrated, JDS would've KO'd him.

Just because someone started a UFC thread in the trelevision forum does not mean that everything realting to UFC and fighting should go there, especially since it's in the TV forum.
I think it would be more appropriate for calssification purposes for that thread to be moved to the Miscelaneous chats, as it is a miscelaneous chat much more that it is a television show,
and then I wouldn't mind merging my thread into UFC's.
Oh, and by the way, if that fight goes off, I'll accept any wager you wish to make and I'll take Overeem. Matter of fact I'll take most K-1 fighters in stand-up over BJJ trained boxers. Dos Santos has great striking and movement but Overeems's Muay Thai kicks will slow him down enough for Overeem to bust him into oblivion.
This thread was created in the correct forum - it's fine.

I know you probably didn't think it would matter much, Cinema, and to be fair, it doesn't really, but it probably would be better if this thread merged with the UFC thread. It's just the way we've done always done it around here.
Brods, you were rating Overeem quite a bit at one point. You've changed your tune!
I thought JDS hands would've smashed him too. Just a bad match up when you think about it. It's no exaggeration that Cigano has the hand speed of a lightweight and great power. Overeem's chin isn't great, neither is his defence.
Shame that this happened though, I was still looking forward to the fight.

Aye, I know. I used to be quite high on Alistair, but I don't know now. He has that destructive Muay-Thai clinch and obviously good power, but I don't like that he is barely able to throw a combination and got tagged a LOT by Werdum. I myself don't think too much of K1-level striking by the way. Remy Bonjasky is my favourite kickboxer ever and that guy understood the fundamentals somewhat. Overeem's defense isn't good enough; neither is his gas tank.
Still, this isn't a surprise.

Doesn't really matter to me where they put this thread as long as someone can find it and read it.
Anyway, Brod mentioned Verdum. Verdum is no joke. He coached Mirco Crocop at one time and he has an excellent chin and can punch.
Overeem stll beat him.
It's really a shame he tested positive for roids but that's what happens with unexpected tests.
I was looking forward to the JDS fight and I love JDS but would have put my money on Overeem. He just has too many different strengths against JDS. Not saying that he can't get knocked out but I still think that kicks and the Muay Thai clinch would have been the difference. Now, we probably won't find out.
