Currently suffering with my second ever bout of real flu.
I've had bad colds and stuff in the past but my immune system is through the roof, so I don't often get bugs and viruses.
In fact my immune system is so high I get a pardoxical reaction with most drugs, basically my body fights off the drug as if it were a virus too and makes the original problem worse. For instance, pain killers make the pain worse, or, three years ago I was given sleeping pills from the Doc, I only took one of them and I was awake for nearly a week non-stop, a blood test revealed my adrenaline level was through the roof.
Last time I had flu was 13 years ago and ended up losing 4 stone (56lbs) in just 5 days.
Currently, I've had it two days and have lost a stone so far and it doesn't seem to be letting up at all. Spent all day yesterday drifting in and out of conciousness and soaking my bed in sweat.
All the Doc said today is to take paracetamol but with my usual reactions, I daren't. I never take medication now anyway.
Just wondered if anyone else has had the 'proper' thing.
I'd certainly not wish it on anyone else.
