Bob Kane's first assistant on Batman (meaning his first ghost artist) was 89. He claimed to have created The Joker and wrote the story that introduced him, but Bob Kane, who is not always reliable, disputes this. Robinson didn't claim that until after the death of Batman's uncredited co-creator, writer Bill Finger, so it is unknown what Finger's recollection was. I think it is more likely Finger wrote the story and Robinson drew the Joker. Although Robinson denies it, it seems likely based on other evidence Finger suggested to Robinson the Joker be based on Conrad Veidt's look in The Man Who Laughs and provided photos of him from the silent classic.
