Got this email this morning...

Hey-
I'm Amy...one of Kent's friends. He wrote me the other day and in one of his letters he asked me if I would email you and tell you how how he was doing in the Navy. I've got several letters from him so far. He seems to be liking it and all..but, I imagine it's alot of tough work. But, He just wanted to let you know everything was going good. Talk to ya lata
~*Amy*~
I told her to please pass along anything he wants to send us, and that we're all quite curious as to how he's doing. It's indirect, but hey, I'm just glad to hear from the guy. :yup:

I'm touched that he went to the trouble of telling a friend how to gt in contact with you Chris, and then in turn us. It's very 'Kent', a very 'Kent' thing to do. Whatta guy.

So, for all the late comers to the show...Who`s Kent and why do you miss him so?

Yoda
08-04-02, 03:25 PM
Kent is spudracer (http://www.movieforums.net/member.php?action=getinfo&userid=341), the second-most prolific poster in this site's history. He was Co-Admin with me here (his loyalty and dedication to this site is amazing, really) for awhile. He left for the Navy recently...he's been gone for about a month and we're not likely to see him around here again for a couple months more, unfortunately. A very well-liked individual, as I'm sure you gathered.

Thanks for filling me in Yoda.
Yep, I am familiar with Spudracer ...he was the first guy I had chittychat with when I originally joined back in April.
I also spent 2 hours reading the MoFo Picture topic last night (great thread btw) and checking out everyones mugshots...you can get a pretty good idea of individual personalities by checking through back threads like that:yup: .
He definately came across as a genuine nice guy...hope he finds what he`s looking for in the Navy.

I believe Chris said Spud was going to check in sometime October. I guess they'll be lotsa' traffic and lotsa' new PM's for him to read. I hope that if he happens to get sent to Aghanistan, he'll capture Osama Bin Chicken and win enough money to fulfill the dream of the MoFo cruise!!

Even though I don't know him, from everything I read, I felt like doing this when Chris told me he was leaving: :bawling:

jrs

If he ever captures Osama Bin Jerko, I'll give him the money myself.

i would say the same thing but i dont think he would accept aussie dollars, because my multi-million dollar bounty would probably be converted to twenty cents

Hey guys, wouldn't you know it...they have internet access here at the base.

Well, here's what has happened thus far,

On Friday, the 6th, I graduate from Boot Camp..

On the 12th, I go to school for a couple of weeks then I get to come home. All the while, I'm up here in the Chicago area.

On October 22nd I must report to my duty station, Yokosuka, Japan, where I'll be on the USS Kitty Hawk, an aircraft carrier.

I should be able to check the site more and more over the next few weeks as my time here is pretty much over.

Just thought I would let you guys know what was going on...

If you have my "snail" mail address, please don't send any mail because I don't know if I'll get it.

:)

Spudly...

Oh Lordy.

The last couple of days just keep getting weirder and weirder around here!

Awesoma power!

Let it flow, let the Hatred,
Let the Hatred flow!

This is cool Kent.
Have you developed, matured, aged?
Are you wiser now? Would you take a bullet for your sidekicks?
What's the scoop?

Hmmm, where to start...

Friday I graduated boot camp and on Thursday of this week, I'll leave boot camp. I'll go to school for a couple of weeks then head back home for a couple of weeks.

Experiences here at boot camp...

All in all, this wasn't as tough as I thought it would be, if you're a fat pudgy bastard it'll be a little tough, but other than that...it was easy-peasy (of course, I'm saying that NOW).

Today, I'm heading to Six Flags Great America as part of my liberty weekend, so if you're in the area, do try and find me there...:), yeah right.

Stories for you, I don't really have any right now...give me a little time to think some up though...:D

The Silver Bullet
09-08-02, 08:30 PM
Go to a prostitute and get kicked out for not paying. That story would rock.

Cool man...cool. Hasn't been the same without you. :nope: Things went smoothly for awhile after you left, then dipped, then picked up again a couple of weeks ago, and they've dipped slightly again recently. It's been awhile since the old glory days, where posting was high for more than 2-3 weeks at a time.

Things are good anyway, but man...I can't help but recall that streak: 34 days with at least 100 posts. Yowza. :D

Hola again,
Went to Chicago yesterday, ate at the Hard Rock and went to the Aquarium and whatnot, nice town, lots of people asking for money though...

Naisy

Hard Rock Cafe??? one of my aims in to eat there before i die :yup:

Wow, $10 hamburgers and $8 beers under framed sunglasses worn by the Cop in The Village People. That DOES sound like an ambitious undertaking before one dies.

Me, I'd have to actually be dead before I'd be caught in one of those joints.

Pfft. It's fun. I went to Planet Hollywood out in Las Vegas and had a ball. Great hamburgers, and some wicked cherry soda (much better than the stuff you buy at the grocery store). Besides...if you time it right, you could be in for quite the thrill. Turns out I missed Ah-nuld by about a week.

geez Holden THINK about it, im an Aussie living in a small country town, where the two biggest tourist attractions are holes (literally), Hard Rock Cafe (which has appeared in many movies) sounds like excitement central to me!! another thing that is sad but true.

The Silver Bullet
09-16-02, 03:29 AM
geez Holden THINK about it...

Geez, man, think about it:

There's a hard rock cafe in almost every major city in the world it's not like you're never going to get a chance to eat there. One day I want to see a real live McDonalds...

Holden Pike
09-16-02, 08:05 AM
Exactly. If you're in Chicago or Manhattan or San Francisco or wherever and out of all the myriad of restaurant choices you could make you choose any chain or theme joint, that's just a complete and total waste in my eyes. In Chicago specifically there must be at least fifty authentic, honest to God Blues bars or places where Capone slurped pasta, so why on Earth would one go to a chain with pretend history and atmosphere?

And what movies has The Hard Rock Cafe been feautred in, exactly, apart from the giant guitar getting clipped at the end of Con Air? Josie & the Pussycats perhaps? While in The Windy City some might have found it fun to track down the eatery where Ferris bluffed his way in as the Sausage King of Chicago, or where Jake and Elwood purposefully embarassed Mr. Fabulous until he agreed to go on the road with 'em. But perhaps The Hard Rock, Chicago has the same sort of movie trivia pedigre and I'm simply not aware of it?

Whatever floats your boat, I guess. Hope they have the T-shirts in your size when you go, that is if the excitement of being in an actual Hard Rock Cafe hasn't already given you a coronary.

The Silver Bullet
09-16-02, 08:33 AM
Those cafes rock hard.

The history may be pretend (well, actually, I don't think they're trying to "fake" any sort of history), but the atmosphere isn't, really. They're fun places to hang out...and, in the case of Planet Hollywood, places that celebrities frequent that also happen to serve damn good food.

But if you're content with something else, by all means, skip over it and move on to something else. Me? I'll be enjoying my giant hamburger, keeping an eye out for Ah-nuld and enjoying the view of a big, wax, naked, frozen Sly Stallone.

I would love to find that place, Ferris Bueller was on my mind the entire day we were in Chicago...

And the only reason we ate at Hard Rock was sheer convience, we had right there around us, where we got dropped off, a McDonalds, Rainforest Cafe, and the Hard Rock...so out of the three, we chose Hard Rock.

Anywho, here's another update, I'll be getting a new email address shortly, so I'll post it on here so you can keep in touch with me.

Later,
Kent

Another update from Mr. Kently:

Hey Chris,
What's going on back in the states? Currently my location can't be given to
you, but I can tell you that I made it to Japan safely. I just thought I
would slip you this quick email to let you know what was going on. I will
talk to you later man.

Your friendly neighborhood spud,

Good to hear from you, Spudly. As for the Hard Rock Cafe discussion:

If you can't make it to the Hard Rock Cafe, you HAVE to see The Strip in Las Vegas. It really is amazing to come down on it at night in a plane after seeing nothing but could and few lights below. It's absolutely awesome, considering I live on the other side of America, where there are absolutely no light spectacles. We do have Primanti's Brothers' though, so it evens out. ;D

Hey everyone.

Currently, I'm back in Japan for the month of December for Holiday Standown. So far, I've been to Okinawa and Hong Kong (very cool places). While in Hong Kong, a few people ran into Jackie Chan and he even made an appearance on the Kitty Hawk (lucky bastards).

If you don't have my email here it is:
