View Full Version : Kitch's Top 100
I had originally intended on making a top 50 list. However, when I began about four hours ago, I realized that I would not be able to choose only 50 films when there is close to a thousand I'd love to include, so I decided to give 100 a shot. I looked through my IMDb ratings to come up with my top 100, and then put them all into flickchart and tried to order them. I'd say the margin of error is about +/- 7, with those closer to 1 being more accurate than those further to 1.
Starting at the end of my list, here's 100:
Arlington Road (1999)

I've only seen about seven or eight of his movies, of which Autumn Sonata and Wild Strawberries are the only two to have made this list. Come to think of it, The Passion of Anna probably deserved a spot, but so do countless others.

I had a hard time deciding which should be #1. House of Games was pretty damned good; can't recommend it highly enough. It's available through the Criterion Collection, and MGM released in on DVD a few years back. Ebert, whilst giving it 4/4, called it his favorite Mamet film, and he usually likes Mamet's films. My mind is still blown at how good this film was; I was expecting another run of the mill Casino-type movie - little did I know. . .
I'm pretty sure that both Siskel and Ebert gave House of Games their number one film of the year spot, but heck, they were from Chicago.
