Thoughts? The site (http://funvax.wordpress.com/) that claims to be the source for all this is classically flakey & hysterical. The science is, we could generously say, feasible. In a 'not really proven at all, but someone might throw some money at it' sense.

Given the bizarre array of things that have been developed, or at least paid for, in the name of Defence, I'm not sure what would qualify as outlandish for those guys. And it's not like it all stopped with listening device cats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acoustic_Kitty) etc, given the oddness of current publicised research, like hummingbird spies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1EYpAqqC2s), or what have you. (And trust me, if I were to delve into my home files to expand on this topic, you'd have a lot ;). I could probably provide evidence for McCarthy's left breast being sentient. And McCarthyite. And on some government payroll or other :D)

But yeah, it is palpably daft. That doesn't immediately preclude it from having been considered tho ;)
