Well i seen alot of list's popping up again of members favourite movies so i decided to try mine again. I first made my top 100 about a year ago not long after joining this site and i must admit i hadn't seen many great movies, mine was a list full of action movies that i had loved growing up. Reading alot of your reviews and watching alot of movies some members have recommended i now have come up with a top 50 list i feel happy posting, i aint attempting 100 because i end up messing everything up like i did in my last attemp a few month's ago :). Here we go anyway.
50. Sin City (2005)--Directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTchgqG1XK8A5NcFNmHjaPLY5ig-PXI0XI1YuUtFLkijyVMgDx_T0PJDWQhttp://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTcceE9byq6iCQLv4lUX9sS9-qEaPTHqh0bsFolmBLVfb6VobtDvCo2eig
''I love hitmen. No matter what you do to them, you don't feel bad''
Sin City is a movie that looks great and feels great, it has a great story, great cast, cool characters and a alot of cool action so it starts my new list of at number 50 a well deserved spot.
49. Trainspotting (1996)-- Directed By Danny Boyle
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRlAV2y0t5Piw6qxZlrA5DbhDWJ6xOtXMncpXkQ941PtvTYASxCetopvF_opQhttp://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSbgaA8mspue9gj0qvBF1BNt0ku-kFl9BxgoqR0HykhnWb10-Nm
''Phew! I haven't felt that good since Archie Gemmill scored against Holland in 1978!''
Well Trainspotting was a new watch for me not so long ago and as soon as the film had finished i knew it would make my top 50 movies straigh away. Trainspotting is a great movie, its actually quite a sick movie infact but never the less Danny Boyle made a fantatsic movie and it deserves its spot on here.
48. Training Day (2001)-- Directed By Antoine Fuque
http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQXD7yoFGJZcjdLLuzRUsZlpGm3M8klZzf8RY-tN-mEpkZS4ylgy0Nc7EbNhttp://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTF1zp7XdUJnwrE4TVqKqKyXLxnDahcTzOKB_RMN542r5G7KoVJAyPHnqcF
''To protect the sheep you gotta catch the wolf, and it takes a wolf to catch a wolf.''
Well Training Day is a movie that alot of you may not find to be a top 50 movie... or anyway even close to that matter but ime a big Denzel Washington Fan and i think this is his best movie by far, Denzel and Hawke do a great performance and the movie is cool as fu**, we also See Eva Mendes which is never a bad thing.
Training Day is one of the first movies i've watched in my life. Great to see it here.

ime a big Denzel Washington Fan and i think this is his best movie by far,
For Queen And Country, Glory, Malcolm X, Philadelphia, The Manchurian Candidate, American Gangster and The Great Debaters. All much better than Training Day and that's just of the films of his I've seen. In fact, I dislike Training Day so much that I'm tempted to add Ricochet to the list.

HK American Gangster i love, to be honest i rated it alot higher than Training Day not so long ago, after a recent rewatch of Training Day tho i just love Denzils performance of his character and the whole set up to the movie and i remember the last time i watched American Gangster i did not enjoy it as much as i did the previous time.

47. The Hangover (2009)--Directed By Todd Phillips
http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQf-xtOrYCe1ETdao6ov0Rh6vXLvqMJ0d2lRWvUTdwXeuSFAGw5CPqOECCihttp://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRUYIu1JDF2BEOSs79o8I9YvpqtN7bv_0Yi-mh6lk3Naq2CrbRSLn1YE8_coQ
''To a night the four of us will never forget!''
The Hangover is one of my favourite comedy movies ever, great cast, great characters and with its wild story and over the top antics it had to make my list, also you have got to love Alan.
46. Batman (1989)-- Directed By Tim Burton
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTQ9LKmg06wutuqygtQ6NFoMQBM9-ntgXEWey7M68zaeFl3k6YaPghttp://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTXv1a0l28-rT6SkTlTzyhNulm8SIFYhSwWTC7Qntw1WbPb-5eMGdOeDZbSkg
''Haven't you ever heard of the healing power of laughter?''
Well the first of Tim Burton's Batman movies hits the list, burton's batman was dark, creepy and full of action. The Joker played so well by Jack Nicholson is a great character and Michael Keaton as batman is fantastic, the best actor to have played batman if you ask me.
45. The Lost Boys (1987)-- Directed By Joel Schumacher
http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTCaQfp9X1mJ4uAkH_wPBkRHfyJhu9N4A8n2fZE-rxmdns96IviANjccI0Ehttp://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS96tvy5i7HN1DhqeTFQZJvjiEvmPllcGnVDe5dAYC46JBHnN5D13-KU9R4
''Maggots, Michael. You're eating maggots. How do they taste?''
The Lost Boys was a teen favourite of mine and i still love it to this day, its a very cool movie with some cool vampires a awesome soundtrack and a really entertaining movie all round.

44. Iron Man (2008)-- Directed By Jon Favreau
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQcaW0CeoRrU6TuLP3L_e2qYYwZKsGb2Yj3YbEeB-bjlFJWfkqb-hLYQH3KdQhttp://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRCJO_4LqdZi9WGa1O1b2TZDn9mx5qegdUMlqlI2JKM10toxO5q
''Absolutely ridiculous. I don't paint''
Iron Man was a movie that totally shocked me the first time i seen it, maybe it was because i wasn't expecting much from the movie and what it delivered was just fantastic and beyond my expectations. Iron Man is the coolest comic book movie by far and Robert Downey Jr made that happen with his great performance as Tony Stark.
43. Jaws (1975)-- Directed By Steven Spielberg
http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTnKqhJNzomj_EZAvuC6tcz1NYjuxz-hnf-5UYgkb8bLxZTgAcNc8ouARwP9ghttp://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRIt-LIW3ElaYvF_Uo5D0rHB4Cdklmafc3RKP4nGUZ9PEkwL2sU75xcYqEq
''This shark, swallow you whole''
Jaws is a fantastic movie and probabley one of my favourite old movies ive seen, tho i havn't seen many oldies because i can't really get into them, i didn't have that problem with jaws, its intense, great story and what Spielberg achieved with this movie is fantastic.
42. The Matrix (1999)-- Directed By Andy Wachowski Larry Wachowski
http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQXRGxLJLxUJQImvYpz8cZb52-NtRpk0WHTnWTGH1WRfrlMgRPY6rIwv8b4http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTb0j9CElL7gIOHGtJjht3nczuub7NjNq8_yoDqGcWemllFTXBrKM2Jq8gr
''Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.''
The Matrix moves up alot on my new list this time around and it well deserves this spot aswell, with its fantastic story, great characters and explosive action it really is a exciting movie to watch.

''If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it.''
Pirates Of The Caribbean is a great movie, one of the best adventure movies in a long time. Johnny Depp bring's alot of comedy to the film with his great performance as Captain Jack Sparrow, one of his best character roles as of yet.
40. American History X (1998)-- Directed By Tony Kaye
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTxB9x5IfeKvbcPWqNyGFtfNmIPfDErXQZm6jAYy7xWtOA7_CSxhttp://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTHjiqEpLPei9k7SZGg57qB4v9It11jiKiPqIzQV267A3cAGMHHwDMEltdyJQ
''I'm ashamed that you came out of my body.''
American History X is a real powerful movie, its a fantastic movie in my eyes. I know there arn't alot of fans on here of this movie but it has to make my list because of its story, its characters and how everything is done so powerful.
39. Toy Story Trilogy (1995, 1999, 2010)
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSN4HhjD6HrJsBGRBfZ7Krd6feNwLKP6-OseSNfUEpHbyA6-fnGTikRiS9bhttp://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQjlGYsTaacBeOYKYZ2lcQxzUtqnUQ7crYBQGkuSXXLthGruRHhVCyZNo8B
''What if Andy gets another dinosaur? A mean one? I just don't think I can take that kind of rejection!''
With its great storys, fantastic characters, big adventures over 3 films the Toy Story trilogy is a must on anyone list i feel. 3 movies over 15 years and all just as entertaining as each other, all i can say is fantastic films.

''Well, let's give them something to drink! To the cliffs!''

I had the Hurt Lock in my Blu Ray collection for a long time before i decided to watch it and when i did finally get round to it i was shocked just how good this movie is, from the word go this movie is just so intense and everything is captured fantastic.

''You got two jobs; kiss good, and make sure my hair don't get wet.''

Not seen HTTYD, but my niece has it and I've heard good things about it. Love the other two, though. I think Death Proof was much better than Planet Terror and much more like the films Grindhouse was paying homage to. NOES is just, about, as good as a horror film gets. Great script, iconic character, great performances by Englund and Langenkamp.

''How about it, Jack? Would you like a shot at the title?''
The Lethal Weapon movies are a great action series spread over 4 films, they had great characters throughout all the movies, Mel Gibson and Danny Glover have a great on screen chemistry that brings alot of comedy to the table aswell. These movies have everything you want from a action movie.
32. Rocky II (1979)-- Directed By Sylvester Stallone
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRK3VjVs0GsB1Vst1GFuzF3Zw7sQHU7xMlx90mjp1RDhQLypjxoNqqZxL92http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSNgcDMX9dopM6pJUPwT1V9VfEyqIYagKcYx7WCkCJdwVgHD54q
''I just got one thing to say... to my wife at home: Yo, Adrian! I DID IT!''
Ime a big Rocky fan, well fan of most of them anyway but Rocky 2 is by far my favourite. Apollo Creed is rocky's best opponent throughout the Rocky movies and the re-match in Rocky 2 is the best fight out of all the movies, so Rocky 2 makes the list hands down.

Batman Begins was a movie that i did not enjoy at the cinema, maybe it was because it was a little different from the batman movies that i grew up to, but never the less after watching it a second time i loved it and have done ever since.

American Psycho 2 bares no resemblance to the original, and it is as terrible as you think it's going to be. And the idea of a sequel to American Psycho WITHOUT Christian Bale as Bateman in it?! That's just wrong.

American Psycho 2 bares no resemblance to the original, and it is as terrible as you think it's going to be. And the idea of a sequel to American Psycho WITHOUT Christian Bale as Bateman in it?! That's just wrong.
Will give it a miss then. :yup:

''Issue a standing kill order on Jason Bourne, effective immediately''
Well here is another series of movies i couldn't pick one from, so again ime adding the series to my top 50 movies. Non Stop action, great story and really fast paced movies are what the Bourne Movies have to offer and the trilogy is a fantastic watch.
22. GoodFellas (1990)-- Directed By Martin Scorsese

''Sure, mom, I settle down with a nice girl every night, then I'm free the next morning.''
GoodFellas is a great movie, great story, fantastic characters and a very well made film. I am not a big fan of Ray Liotta and this movie i think may be a little higher on the list if it wasn't for him haha, never the less tho great movie and well deserves to be here.

''I always tell the truth. Even when I lie.''
Scareface is a fantastic movie, great story, great characters and Al Pacino does one of my favourite performances in this movie playing his brilliant character Tony Montana.
20. Signs (2002)-- Directed By M. Night Shyamalan

Signs drops down my list this time around, its a fantastic movie but after a second viewing i wasn't as impressed as the first time i seen it, still has to make my list tho.
19. Casino (1995)-- Directed By Martin Scorsese

Again with this new list ime putting Casino higher than Goodfellas, i enjoy watching Casino more everytime i see it and i think it is a stronger movie than Goodfellas plus like i said last time i am not a fan of Ray Liotta.
Not a big Fan of Signs :nope:
Casino is an absolutely underrated film. And yes, i would rank it above Goodfellas too :) But nothing beats the Bull.

Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece, so  for that. I have very fond memories of not being allowed to watch Predator for the scene where they find Hopper's men. When I finally did get to see it, I loved it.
I liked Collateral, but at No. 12? You must've taken more out of it than I did, because I wouldn't rate it in my top 200. Still, a well made flick, and Tom Cruise is the best thing about it. I can't wait to see your top 10, with Pulp and Predator evicted from it and whatnot.

''I don't pretend to be a man of the people. But I do try to be a man for the people.''
Gladiator is a movie that i enjoy more with every viewing, its a movie that i love watching and with every viewing i never get bored. I remember when this was released in the cinema back when i was around 12-13 years old, movies like these wern't really my cup of tea back then but my brother dragged me along with him anyway. After the movie had finished i thought it was the best thing i had ever seen and for years i considered it to be my favourite movie ever, tho now a few years down the line i don't have the same feelings for the movie as i did back then, but i do still feel it has to have a place in my top ten.
Russel Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix are fantastic in this movie , its probabley my favourite Russel Crowe performance he's done and i love his character. Ridley Scott made a fantastic movie with Gladiator and i must of seen it at least ten times, maybe thats why its lost abit of it appeal but the story is great and everything looks amazing. The Gladiator battles are really good fight scenes and the end battle has me on edge every time i watch this movie.

Collateral is an outstanding movie.
Tom Cruise looks like the real deal. I really wouldn't want to piss him off. The scene where he draws superfast on the 2 punks stealing his briefcase is so impressive, done in that loud Micheal Mann style ala Heat. The loud BANG BANG of the gunshots brings so much realsim to the actions scenes. The dialogue between Max and Vincent really works throughout the film. Awesome soundtrack too.
Easily makes my top 10 of the Noughties.

I love Michael Mann's style of directing, but I didn't really see what was so special about Jamie Foxx's performance, but the finale was thrilling stuff, even though it was sort of unrealistic. Also, the final scene between Max and Vincent reminded a lot of the last scene in Mann's superior Heat.

''We really should stop fighting, we'll miss the fireworks!''
The Dark Knight is the best Batman movie to of hit the big screen and there is a big reason why. The Dark Knight isn't all about action and stupid over the top scenes like some of the other batman movies, or even some of the other comic book movies for that matter, the dark knight has a solid story, solid characters in a world of realism and it works brilliantly.
Christopher Nolan brought Batman back with a bang with Batman Begins, then this came along The Dark Knight and topped everything he had ever done, it looks great, the characters look great and the casting was just spot on, i dont think i'll dought anything he can do from now on. I don't have to even go into what i think about Heath Ledger's performance as the joker because as nearly everyone on here alreay knows it was faultless and a excellent performance and it made The Dark Knight that little bit better. Cant wait for the next installment, i know it will top this.

''Hey, O'Connell! It looks to me like I've got all the horses!''
Well i don't know how this choice is gonna go down with alot of you but i think The Mummy has to make my top ten after a recent viewing. The Mummy is a great movie, a really entertaining movie with alot of horror and alot of comedy rolled into one. Okay it may not be a better movie than some of my other pics, but it is a movie i enjoy watching more than them so thats why ime picking this as my number 8.
The Mummy has a good cast, a good story and the whole movie is just one big adventure that just never slows down. I didnt count this pick as the trilogy because ime not a big fan of the sequels, the mummy returns and tomb of the dragon emperor didn't do much for me, but at least one out of the three is a great movie. Maybe the mummy 4 will bring life back to the series.

The Silence Of The Lambs is one of the creepiest movies i have ever seen, its described as a thriller yet its scarier than alot of the horror movies around today. Great Story, great cast and everything done so creepy and intense makes this movie a must on my top ten list.
Hannibal Lecter played brilliantly by Anthony Hopkins was one of the scariest characters i had ever seen in any movie, that was till i started watching family guy and Stewie Griffin came to my head, everytime i watch this movie now i just laugh at how much they look alike..... Damm You Stewie. Jodie Foster another great cast member who delivers everything and more. I thought Red Dragon was very good. I also liked Hannibal too though, so if you didn't like that one you may not care for Red Dragon either. But I would definitely say Red Dragon was superior to Hannibal, despite lacking certain... *ahem* ...scenes I love.
The original Manhunter, which was the first film adaptation of Red Dragon, not so much... It had a few decent elements and a couple of good visuals that stood out for me, but overall it was poorly done and had some horrible overacting.
I haven't seen Hannibal Rising, the prequel about his youth, but from what I've heard it wasn't too good.

I couldn't disagree more. Manhunter, which has the Lektor character but he isn't much to do with it, is better than any of the Lector films that came after it. SotL is like a really good tv movie (and while that sounds like a putdown, I really don't mean it like that) but it's incredibly overrated and, after having the misfortune of reading Hannibal (thanks to a friend who asked me to read it without telling me why) I've no interest in any of the films that came after it.

Wow. Manhunter is nowhere near the same league of any of the other films. It is poorly paced and the overacting of the lead actor was laughable. Brian Cox as Hannibal was the only actor who approached the level of quality in the later films. He played Hannibal very well, though more human than Hopkins played it, who gave a tremendously menacing performance.
SotL is not overrated a bit. It is an excellent psychological horror/thriller. Hannibal (the sequel) is a bit muddled but decent. Red Dragon is better but still no SotL.
If anything, it's Manhunter that comes across as a made-for-tv movie, and I do mean that as a putdown.
I also read the novel Hannibal and don't think of having done so as a misfortune at all.

I also read the novel Hannibal and don't think of having done so as a misfortune at all.
After reading those lines, I don't think we need to discuss it further. I think we can safely agree to disagree. :)

We can if you want, but as I see Hopkin's performance in SotL as one of the hammiest of recent times (I can only think of any Gary Oldman or TLJ Hollywood villain and Hopkins, again, as Van Helsing in Dracula comparing) the fact that you think William Peterson overacts, but Hopkins is menacing, kind of puts paid to those two arguments.
I think Hannibal was one of, if not, the most poorly written books I've ever read. Ridiculous in almost ever way, whereas you had no problem with it means that's pretty much another dead end.

6. Inception (2010)-- Directed By Christopher Nolan

''Never recreate from your memory. Always imagine new places!''
Inception for me is by far Christopher Nolan's best work, as much as i love The Batman movies, Memento, The Prestige this is something all together different. The story i found to this movie is just so gripping, the cast is just solid and the movie grabs you from the start and just takes you along for a ride.
Okay i know not everyone on these forums, or even everyone out there enjoyed this film, ive heard its not original, its overrated, its just a fan boy movie, for me tho i found it to be original.... Okay there are simalar movies out there but nothing comes close to how this was done. People Rave about the Dark Knight and ime included in that but this was so much better all round and thats why ime placeing it the highest of Christopher Nolans Movies in my top 50.

I love that book. I think it would have been hugely entertaining and even moving as a movie. The actual Hannibal is okay - no Silence of the Lambs - but it's not the book. The book translated to film could have been as good as Silence of the Lambs but in a darker, more "out there" way. I loved the whole storyline with Mason's lesbian bodybuilding sister that got cut.

''You don't get to tell me what to do ever again.''
Well American Beauty was a movie that i only checked out few month's back, since then ive seen it like 3 times and each time it just gets better and better. Tho the movie doesn't really have much going on it still grabs your attention and by then end of the movie it seems like a whole lot has happened haha.
Kevin Spacey is fantastic in this movie aswell as Wes Bentley doing a great job too, Mena Suvari also looking very hot. For me American Beauty was abit of a wierd film that gave a strange vibe from the movie, it was sexy, funny, wierd, strange and i was left thinking what the hell was all that, but it works, it works so well that American Beauty has to be number 5 of my top 50.

Black Hawk Down was a movie that i only seen a few months ago and it left me impressed big time. From start to finish the movie never stops, its so fast paced with non stop action it doesnt stop to let you even catch your breath.
With a fantastic cast with some big names and some really big scenes this movie is a must see, i don't even know why it took me so long to get around to watching it. Eric Bana was probabley my favourite character in this movie, ime a fan of Bana and i enjoy all his movies and this was no different. People may disagree with how high ive placed it but for me its a well deserved spot.

''He knew the risks, he didn't have to be there. It rains... you get wet.''
Heat makes my top 3 movies again, this time in my top 50, with a great cast, great story and great action this movie is a must see for anyone. Al Pacino and Robert De Niro are two of my favourite actors out there and together on screen was just something great to watch.
Heat was probabley one of Al Pacino's best performance's, well it is up there with his best anyway. Michael Mann delivered big with this movie and back when it was released there was a big buzz about this movie and it had everyone talking. overall great movie that cracks my top 3.

Well Aliens is a movie that i seen appear on alot of members list's since ive been a member on here and it took me to only a few month's ago to get around to watching it, since then ive watched it like 4 times!! i can't get enough haha.
i know the first Alien movie didn't even make my top 50 and i have seen it, its just not really my thing it was alot slower than aliens, not alot of action, characters where alot duller and we hardley got a glimpse of the alien at all. Aliens tho ime going to say it.... is the best Action movie i have ever seen and it was close to being my number 1 in this list, really close. Cool story, cool characters, great action, abit of horror and a crap loads of aliens, whats not to like.

I disagree with just about all of that, but especially the "crap loads of aliens" bit. One of the problems I have with this film (beyond just not liking it very much) is that it doesn't feel like there's loads of aliens. It feels like there's about six (which I later found out was right as that's about as many costumes as they had.)
Also, how the hell does Newt not make you start cheering for the aliens?

Fight Club is a movie that i have sat and watched alot now and i seem to enjoy it more and more with every viewing, its something alot different from the movies i normally enjoy, maybe thats why ime a big fan of the movie. Fight Club is a very dark movie and it works so well with the concept of the movie and with whats going on, its great cast, great story and good fight scenes make for a excellent watch.

David Fincher is a great director and over the past few month's ive checked alot of his movies out Panic Room, Se7en, Alien 3, The Social Network, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, and ime trying to get my hands on Zodiac, i enjoyed alot of his movies yet none of them still come close to Fight Club, this is Fincher's masterpiece.

Brad Pitt and Edward Norton do a fantastic job and are great on screen together, Probabley Norton's best performance yet.
