A group of retired spies must save themselves from assassination.
Their dossier reads.... RED = Retired. Extremely Dangerous. Perhaps it should have been called WTF.
But... Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfus, and John Malcovich? Now my WTF is really kicking up.
Allright let me start off by saying it was enjoyable for the most part. It was strange enough to get my attention, and there were some laugh out loud moments for sure. (thanks John Malcovich). It's a comedy, but then again it's an over-the-top action movie, but then again it's a geriatrics-kick-ass flick. Not sure what it wants to be.
Someone looking up from their goat-cheese salad in a Hollywood eatery blurting, "What about Helen Mirren with a machine gun?" And a big "YES" across the table with some high fives.... who knows how this project was conceived? We know the story (roughly) came from a comic book....
If you don't mind over the top, overly cutesy pie (thanks Mary Louise Parker), and mildly dysfunctional, you won't mind this movie. Ernest Borgnine has a cameo, so that little treat tipped it into the "watchable" category for me.
