So I just have started really getting into watching films and I was thinking about doing a top 100 list .Honestly I have not seen near enough films to make a list yet. I thought a review thread would be fun. Latley I have been really into classic and foreign films and I have been getting most of my film ideas from the list section on this forum:) Just to let every one know I am not a real critic and my spelling and grammer is horrible. This thread is just me sharing my thoughts and feelings about the films I have seen. I would really appreciate ANY kind of feed back and would love all kinds of suggestions.

So I thought I would kick off my film spree HollyG style.;)

Breakfast at Tiffanys (1961)
Breakfast at Tiffanys is a delightful film staring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard and directed by Blake Edwards. This Film is the ultimate chick flick.I guarantee you that most women that see this film fall in love with it right away.Breakfast at Tiffanys is loosley based on a novel written by Truman Capote.I personally have not read the novel yet but I do plan to soon. Audrey Hepburn plays a young lady by the name of Holly Golightly and she dose a very good job portraying Holly G. This film is probably not my favorite Audrey Hepburn movie but it is definitely the film she is remembered for the most. What eles can I say about Audrey other then she is one of the most beautiful and beloved actress of all time.
This is my first reveiw and im gonna try not give any spoilers.Breakfast at Tiffany's is about the relasonship between Holly and Paul. Holly is a wierd young lady who refuses to name her own cat, she dreams about marrying rich and her favorite thing to do is window shop at tiffanys, Paul is a writer with writers black who just moves in to Holly's apartment building . This film is pretty much about the friendship bewtween these two and how it grows in to more and just the ups and downs of that realsonship. My favorite part of this film is the ending,I love romantic films with happy endings.
Favorite Quote Holly G " I've got to do something about the way I look.I mean a girl just can't go to Sing Sing with a green face"

Roman Holiday (1953)
Roman Holiday is a film directed by William Wyler and staring Audrey Hepburn,Gregory Peck and Eddie Albert.Audrey Hepburn won an Oscar for best actress and this film also won Oscars for screenplay and costume design. There was talk about a sequel but that never happend thank god.Roman Holiday is about princess Ann who is sick of haveing so many royal responsibility's and she just wants to have normal life full of love, mischef and normal daily activites. One night after she was given something to help her sleep she leaves her palace all woozy and meets Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck) a newspaper repoter. Joe is convinced that she is his ticket to a big story and lots of money so he uses her for a day and trys to put a story together but instead of exposing her he falls in love with her.A really cute romantic comedy fun to watch wit family or on date night, personally I could watch this movie over and over again with a bucket of ice cream.

Favorite Quotes, Princess Ann- I hate this nightgown. I hate all my nightgowns, and I hate all my underwear too.
Princess Ann - I've never been alone with a man before, even with my dress on. With my dress off, it's MOST unusual.

Sabrina (1954)
I watched Sabrina for the first time last night and I really enjoyed this film, Audrey Hepburn is the queen of chick flicks , she was graceful and funny as ever in this film.Sabrina was directed by Billy Wilder and stars Audrey Hepburn,William Holden and Humphrey Bogart.Sabrina(Hepburn) Fairchild is the daughter of a chauffeur for rich Larrabee family and finds her self in love with David (Holden) one of two sons from the Larbee family. One night after she trys to commit suicide and fails she leaves to Paris for a cooking school for 2 years. Sabrina left for Paris a child and comes back and beautiful and charming women. David finally notices her and their relationship is not good timing so David's brother Linus (Bogart) decides to get involved and trys to get Sabrina back to Paris, but in doing so he ends up falling in love with her. A really charming and cute film. I think Sabrina is my favorite Hepburn film I have seen so far.Walter Hampden plays Mr.Larrabee and he is by far my favorite character in this film.He was so much fun and did a wonderful job.
Favorite Quotes- Sabrina- Paris is always a good idea.

The Apartment (1960)
Here is a film directed by Billy Wilder and stars Jack Lemmon,Shirley Maclaine, and Fred MacMurrey.I decided to watch this film because I saw it on the AFI's 100 years 100 movie list and I have heard alot of good things about this one.Wow what a film,I stared watching The Apartment and during the first five minutes I was not to sure if I was gonna like it or not and then the film really started to get exciting. Sure this film has alot of funny moments but I think of it more as a drama then a comedy. The Apartment is about a man C.C Baxter(Lemmon) who rents out his apartment to company managers and their mistress's so he can climb the corporate latter. Shirley Maclaine plays Fran Kubelik a elevator operator who's has a history of love problems. Then there is Mr. Sheldrake who is C.C's boss and Fran's lover and eventually we have ourselves a love triangle. I do not want to give to much away but this is defiantly one of my favorite Willder films that I have seen so far . Jack Lemmon did a great performance as C.C Baxter and it seemed like he should of won the academy award for leading male :)

The most funniest scene was when C.C just had a fight with Fran at the office Christmas party and he goes to the nearest bad to drown his sorrows, when he meets this woman and there both drunk and she is just to funny.

Favorite Quotes- Fran Kubelik "I wouldn't be to sure.Just because I wear a uniform doesn't make me a girl scout"
C.C Baxter " My name is C.C Baxter. C for Calvin. C for Clifford. However most people call me Bud.

Rashomon (1950)

I just want to start off by saying Rashomon is probably the best film I have seen in the last couple of months.I will be watching alot of Akira Kurosawa's films in the near future.
Rashomon is a masterpiece about a Woodcutter, a priest, and a commoner who are waiting in a former gatehouse Rashomon for a rainstorm to end.All three of these men get in to talking about a crime that took place in a remote forest .The commoner wants to know all he can about what took place between the Samurai, the Samurai's wife and the bandit. The priest and woodcutter tell the commoner about what they know and what happened at the court house, they tell him the bandit's side of the story, the wifes side of the story and the Samurai's side of the story (threw a medium). The Woodcutter and priest are confused because they can not understand what really happened that day and they don't understand why everybody is lying.I do not want to give to much away but the ending is really amazing and honestly thew out the whole movie we see alot of dishonesty and betrayal but the ending kind of restores your faith in mankind. One thing that is so great about this film is that the direction is simple.Rashomon was shot in just 3 places the court house, the gate house and the forest. The fight scenes were not fancy just very realistic and the characters of this film were just right. The only thing i was not to fond of in this film was the medium .That part of the film kind of gave me the creeps.

Favorite quotes- Commoner- "Man just wants to forget the bad stuff, and believe in the made up good stuff. Its easier that way.

The Major and the Minor 1942 directed by Billy Wilder

Billy Wilder did an alright job with The major and the Minor, this film is Wilder's American directorial debut. In this devilish romantic comedy Ginger Rogers plays Susan Applegate a grown women sick of he life in New York she decides to move back to her home town Iowa, Susan plans to take train ride back home but dose not have enough money to get home she decides to pretend that she is a 12 year old girl so she can pay half fair. Little miss Susan AppleGate gets in all sorts of trouble and on the train she meets Major Kirby (Ray Milland) and he instantly feels like it is his job to take care of her. This is where the film gets a little strange, you can see there is an attraction between Susan and Kirby, But Major thinks she a 12 year girl so at times this film kind of has a creepy vibe to it. Ginger Roberts dose a wonderful job playing Susan, she defiantly made me laugh more then once. The film kind of drags on a litte to long and the ending was not what I expected but it still was an alright film, a good chick flick.

Dracula 1958 directed by Terence Fisher

I just finished watching Dracula and I was absolutely blown away by this film, probably one of my favorite Dracula films that I have seen so far.Everything about this film just feels right. This is my first Terence Fisher film that I've seen and I have to say I am really impressed. The camera shots of Dracula are completely haunting and the make up was great not overdone, just right.:D

Dracula starts off with Jonathan Harker riding in to Count Dracula's castle. He is pretending to be a librarian but really he is there to slay Count Dracula and put an end to his evil undead ways.Dracula is played by Christopher Lee and he gave a haunting performance. In this film Dracula is trying to seek revenge on Doctor Van Helsing (Peter Cushing) and Jonathan Harker's future brother in-law Arthur. The acting in this film is superb.Alot of films I have seen with Dracula or vampires tend to have a real cheesy feel to it. Another thing I love about this film is that its simple, the dead is evil, they don't date the dead or kiss the dead unless they bite you and Dracula dose not sparkle:eek:

Overall this version of Dracula is amazing and I wish they made horror films like that these days.:(

I think this is also known as Horror of Dracula. My main problem which nearly ruins the whole movie for me, is that when Harker finds Dracula's tomb, instead of first killing the strongest vampire in the room he decides to start with the weakest and work his way up. Then when he stakes her, the vampiress's screams wake Dracula, who runs away. One of them should have just killed the other right there. After that point it just felt like a drawn out battle of (nit) wits, without much suspense or humor.

My girlfriend is a big fan though. She loves the costumes and sets and acting, though I'm pretty sure it's still behind Andy Warhol's Dracula in her estimation.

You are right it is known as Horror of Dracula but originally it was just Dracula it had to be changed because of the 1931 Dracula, I guess they did not want any confusion.
Ya but if Harker would of killed Dracula instead of the women in the tomb then I think it might be a very short film.

Sexy Beast 2000 directed by Jonathan Glazer

I was really surprised by this film I was expecting your typical bank robbery gangster film but this film was definitely not that.Sexy Beast is director Johnathan Glazer's feature film debut and what a debut he made.I really enjoyed this film and I am looking forward to checking out more of Glazers work.

Sexy beast starts out in Spain and we meet retired bank robber Gal played by Ray Winstone. The opening scene is Gal suntanning in his beautiful Spanish home when a boulder comes rolling to his pool, just missing him. Gal has a beautiful life with a beautiful ex wife and he is very happy. I love that gal is happy, in most films about ex bank robber's the retired gangster always seems to miss his old ways and this is not the case with Gal, he is truly content with being retired.
http://www.frontroomcinema.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Sexy_Beast_2.jpg

Eventually the guys that Gal used to work for want him back for one more job and gal dose not want to. A man by the name of Don Logan goes to Spain to convince Gal to come back London with him and he doesn't take no for an answer. Don Logan is Played by Ben Kingsley and I must say that I really enjoyed Kingsley's performance.Don Logan is obviously a sociopath and Ben Kingsley played the part very well, Just might be my favorite performance by Kingsley.
http://www.cbc.ca/gfx/images/arts/photos/2008/07/10/sexy-beast_392.jpg

With out giving any spoilers away, Don Logan's visit does not go well and Gal ends up retuning to London to do the job. Ian Mcshane plays Teddy Bass,Gal's old boss and Ian also gives a real good performance. The ending to this film is very satisfying, Its perfect. The ending to Sexy Beast was not what I expected and it totally surprised me in a good way.

I really like this film and I'm not usually into bank robbing gangster film but this is not your typical bank robbing film. It's more about a mans struggle to rebuild a new life and his fears about loosing his new life. Another thing I loved about this film was it's soundtrack, the music fit the film perfectly.

If you haven't seen Sexy Beast I suggest you check it out.

The Wicker Man 1973 directed by Robin Hardy

So I watched The Wicker Man yesterday and I did enjoy it,It was very unique British horror film.Last night I spent alot of time writing about it in my thread and I lost my internet connection therefor I lost what I wrote and I got a little cranky, but I will try again today.I did like this film, there is a few things about this film that seemed out of place but it still is a great horror. The Wicker Man is directed by Robin Hardy and stars Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward. The music was a big part of this film and it was composed by Paul Giovanni.

http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/110127/Wicker-Man-1973_300.jpg

The Wicker Man is about Sergeant Howie played by Edward Woodward who receives a letter an anonymous letter that a young girl from a remote Hebridean island of Summerisle is missing. Howie flys over to the Island to investigate this odd disappearance and to find this young girl. Once he gets there every one on the island claims to have never seen this girl. Sergeant Howie is very disturbed by the island peoples lack of religion and there wild behavior. He then meets Lord Summerisle, who is the master of the island and then eventually Howie discovers that they are a paganism cult. The Lord SummerIsle and his people believe in recarnation, worshiping the sun, sexual magic and May day is a very sacred day to them.Howie then finds out that all these people have been lying to him and then at this point he dose every thing he can to rescue this girl whom he believes to be a innocent.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KcJj6wN1MA4/Rw8oWq9QUlI/AAAAAAAABRI/hzln-Brp6v8/s400/TheWickerMan_Lord.jpg

There is a couple of scenes that seemed kinda of weird to me while I was watching this film but once I finished the film it kind of made sense. The Wicker Man is like a horror, musical, thriller. There is alot scenes that are very musical and sexual. There is alot of nudity in this film almost a little to much, but once i watched the ending it kind of all made sense to me. Its a good film and I get why The Wicker Man is consider a horror cult classic.

I Just want to mention how much I loved this films soundtrack, the music fit this film perfectly. The two songs that stick out the most for me were Willows Song and and Corn Riggs. Corn Riggs was the song they played while Sergeant Howie flew into the island and first met the town people, That was probably my favorite scene from this film.I think I'm gonna go out and get The Wicker Man soundtrack. Bottom line is that The Wicker man is a good film and has a great sound track.

Oldboy Chan-Wook Park 2003

So I just finished watching Chan-Wook Park's Oldboy and what a film.I think my mouth was almost open through out the whole film.I really enjoyed this film alot and I am not sure if that makes me a sick person or not because this film is very dark and twisted.I think what I loved about Oldboy so much was the actual story of it, the plot was great, very twisty and turning and very unique.I never knew that it was part of a trilogy, apparently its the second film in the vengeance trilogy, I am definitely gonna check out Sympathy for Mr.Vengeance and Sympathy for lady vengeance.
http://users.telenet.be/israpales/blog/twist_oldboy.jpg

Oldboy tells the story of Oh Dae-Su,He finds himself locked away in a hotel room for 15 years not knowing why or who has locked him away and murdered his wife.Oh Dae-Su is Played by Min-sik Choi and he dose a wonderful job portraying a sick individual who has been locked away for 15 years. When Oh Dae-Su is released the one thing he has on his mind is vengeance on the person who locked him away and drove him to madness. He then meets Mi-do (Kang Hye-Jeong) a sushi chef and they instantly connect at first he believes she might be his enemy but they end up falling in love and she trys to help him figure out why and who imprisoned him.We meet Lee Woo-jinn(Yu Ji-tae) the man behind Oh Dae-su's disappearance and its made obvious that there is something personal between them but Oh-Dae-su cannot remember.Lee Woo-jinn gives him 5 days to figure out why he hates Oh Dae-su so much.
http://www.the-other-view.com/images/oldboy5.jpg

The ending was absolutely freaking insane .I could not believe all that happened in the last 30 mins,Probably the most odd ending of a film I have seen in a long time. The whole incest part of Old boy kind of through me for a loop, but when I saw how young Mi-do was I had a feeling it was his daughter and when they ended up having sex I pretty much knew that Mi-do was his daughter. When he cut his tongue out that was probably the most grossest part of the film for me.The final scene when he gets hypnotized so he can forget that Mi-do is his daughter, dose he do it so he can be her lover instead of her father??? Ya if I was him I would probably shoot my self.
http://matthewellwood.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/old-boy-2003-01-g.jpg?w=440&h=240&crop=1

I'm a Cyborg,But That's Okay (Saibogujiman kwenchana) 2006 Park Chan-wook

I just watched I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK and I liked it.This film is probably one of the best drama, romance films I have seen in awhile. Its romance about a young girl who believes shes a cyborg and man that thinks he can steal anything and everything from anybody, even souls. Its not a typical romance and I think that is why I enjoyed it so much.At the moment I am addicted to Park Chan-wook films and I think this film is good.
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/207/440515536_dfc35313c8.jpg

Cha Young-goon (Su-jeong Lim) Is a woman who struggles with her identity and she believes that she is a cyborg. In the beginning of this film she harms her self at work because a radio broadcast told her to and she ends up in a mental institution. Most of this film takes place In a mental institution.Chan Young-goon believes that when she has her grandmas teeth in her mouth she can talk and have conversations with any kind of machinery. When she arrives at the hospital shes meets all kinds of psychotic people, and she meets a man by the name of Park Il-sun(Rain) and they do not click right away but through out the film they tend to form quite a bond.Young-goon's Grandma also had mental problems, she believed she was a mouse and she was taken away when Young-goon was little.Young- goon refuses to eat because she believes that she can't because she is a cyborg and instead of eating food she licks battery's for energy. Park Sun trys to help in many different ways. This film is about two young sick individuals who end up forming a bond and helping each other out even tho they never meant to.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5269558285_e071fdebbe.jpg

There is a few scenes in this film that are quite odd but kind of cool. The Visuals were great. The acting and characters were good. Its kind of a kooky odd but fun romance and even thow everybody in the film is absolutely mental you cannot help but really fall in love with the characters. Its not your regular Park Chan-wook film but still a good film to watch.

Baby Doll is a fun dark comedy and I really enjoyed watching this film.If you enjoy dark comedy's then you should defiantly check out Baby Doll,Its the kind of film that will make you laugh out loud. When I decided to watch Baby Doll last night I was not to sure if I would like it or not but I was really surprised.Baby doll is directed by Elia Kazan and written by Tennessee Williams and they did a wonderful job. This film was based on two Of Williams one act plays, "27 Wagon loads of Cotton and "The Long Stay Cut Short".Apparently this film was condemned by the Catholic Legion of Decency, And I can see why people were shocked by it back then but I did not find it too controversial at all, just a dark funny film.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jPsUHRPlxFw/S9-2HExWp4I/AAAAAAAABPA/mL0_LT-NULM/s400/babydollthumb.jpg

Archie Lee Meigan is played by Karl Malden, Archie Is a bigoted, balding, old man who owns a unsuccessful cotton gin company. He married A 18 year old girl that goes by the name of Baby Doll. Baby Doll is played by Carroll Baker. Baby Doll married Archie when she was still just a child and she was defiantly not ready for marriage,She is 19 and sleeps in a baby carriage and still sucks on her thumb. Archie and Baby Doll have an agreement that when she turns 20 that she will finally be ready to do her wifely duties (have sex) as long as he takes care of her, Which he dose a poor job of.They live In a huge house that is just falling apart and they rent there furniture. One day till Baby Doll's birthday and Archie can not wait till he finally gets to be with his Wife, there furniture gets taken away and Baby Doll says that she is going to back out of the deal. Full of frustration A drunk Archie burns down his rivals Syndicate cotton gin . His rival Silva Vacarro played by Eli Wallach will do anything and everything to find out who wronged him. He suspects Archie and he spends a day with Baby Doll trying to get a confession from her, he taunts her and bugs and scares her in to confessing that Archie was the one who committed arson. Baby doll who hates her husband finds her self attracted to Silvia and Silva is attracted to Baby doll but he is more interested in who burned down his Syndicate cotton Gin.Anyways Baby Doll and Silva team up to drive Archie mad and which they do and its absolutely comedy gold.

I really enjoyed alot about this film all the actors were superb but especially Carroll Baker she played this women who would not grow up beautifully and I was stunned at how beautiful she was,and her laugh was wonderful. She defiantly shined for me in this film. All the acting was great. When I decided to watch this film I thought it might be cheesy, but there nothing really cheesy about this film at all.:p

Spirited Away 2001 Hayao Miyazaki

I just watched the Japanese animation film Spirited Away and I have to say that I absolutely love everything about this film. This is the first Miyazaki film I have seen and I am really impressed the color, the settings, they way he blended the characters and the environment together was just amazing.Just the story itself is just beautiful and the characters are lovely. The fantasy world that Miyazaki created was just amazing.Spirited Away is the best Animation film I have seen in along time.

http://neilmc74.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/spirited_away_002.jpg

Spirited Away is a beautiful Story about a 10 year old girl named Chihiro Ogino who is moving to a new home and in the process of moving Chihiro and her parents end up in a strange new world.Chihiro feels very frightened by this new place, but her parents are very excited especially when they find a bunch of delicious looking food. Her parents indulge them selves in this new food and end up turning in to pigs.Chihiro is very scared and unaware of her surroundings, but she meets a little boy Haku who guides her through this new world and vows to help her get her parents back. In this delightful action fantasy we meet a greedy witch who rules this world and she also runs a Bath house. The people that live in this world all work in this bath house and some of th characters are very odd but very pleasant. Chihiro has a big heart and makes alot of new friends ,The people in this new world are attracted to Chihiro because she is so kind.Chihiro works in the bathhouse until she can find a way to get her parents back. This film is just great,I do not think I have seen anything quite like this before. The story is just so original and fun and the animation is just splendid.

http://www.mensmovieguide.com/images/Spirited_Away_3.jpg

So here is a few fun facts about this film.Miyazaki wrote this script for his friends 10 year old daughter.Spirited Away grossed 274 million worldwide making it the most successful film in Japanese history and it also won the best Oscar for Animated feature. Its just a lovely film and I cannot wait till my kids are a little older so I can watch it with them.

Excalibur 1981 directed by John Boorman

I am not to sure how I feel about this film.A part of me enjoyed it and another part of me felt it was kind of cheesy.Excalibur was directed by John Boorman and stars Helen Mirren,Nigel Terry and Nicol Williamson. It was nominated at The Oscars for Best Cinematography. The costumes,make-up, and special effects were pretty amazing but to me it felt like there was too much going on at once. Its a fun and violent tale of Kind Arthur but it is defiantly not a must see kind of film more like a guilty pleasure.

http://robie2008.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/exca1.jpg?w=421&h=241

Excalibur is a tale about King Arthur and Merlin. The film starts out with Merlin trying to Help King Uther by giving him the sword of Excalibur but Uther throws everything away for One night with Igrayne, some one else's wife. Uther begs for merlin's help but merlin will only help if Uther gives up his first born son Arthur,In the end before he dies, Uther plunges Excalibur into a stone and proclaims anyone who can pull it out will be the true king of Camelot.Arthur is raised as a peasant and then all of a sudden out of nowhere he pulls Excalibur out of the stone and becomes king.Merlin teaches Arthur how to be a king.Arthur falls in love with Gunevere and marries her and his best knight Sir Lancelot is In love with Guenevere which causes alot of tension between the two friends.Morgana played by Helen Mirren is Arthur's half sister and she has a hatred for Merlin. In the end Guenevere and Lancelot betray Arthur and Morgana takes advantage of that situation and dose whatever it takes to ruin Arthur and Merlin.
http://midia.ambrosia.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/merlin.jpg

Like I said there is alot of different things going on in this film that it makes it kind of hard to keep up with story. In my opinion the best part of this film is Helen Mirren's portrayal of Morgana. Nigel Terry played Arthur and Nicol Williamson Played Merlin and I was not a big fan of there parts.Merlin kind of drove me nuts and I am not to sure why but some of his parts just seemed kind of cheesy to me.Liam Neeson and Patrick Stewart have small roles as knights of Camelot.I was kind of excited to see Excalibur and to be honest I was kind of disappointed but it was still wonderful to look at.

I'm glad you sorta liked Excalibur. I love it and think it's the best Arthurian film ever made. It might make more sense to you if seen as part of Boorman's recurring theme of Man Vs. Nature and how they are disrupted when the symbiosis is lost. I will admit that it does cram a lot in, but it's a wonderful mixture of action, fantasy, comedy and horror. It's definitely in the better half of my Top 100.

For me it was quite a bit to take in but there was quite a few things that I did like about it, for example The Knights Armour was pretty cool and the rest of the costumes are amazing.I might give a re watch in the future and see if I like it a little more.

Robin and Marian 1976 Richard Lester

Robin and Marian is a heart warming tale about Robin hood and Lady Marian 20 years after most versions of the Robin Hood tale. For me this film was a pleasure to watch because it is different from most Robin Hood tales, It just felt very original.Robin and Marian has everything you could want in a Robin Hood tale, It has romance, action, comedy and tragedy. Director Richard Lester did a beautiful Job with this film, I was very impressed.
http://clothesmonaut.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/robin-hood-robin-and-marian.jpg

This adventure starts off with an older Robin Hood serving Richard the Lion-Heat in France long after the Crusades are over.Robin defies Richard and ends up in prison and in the end Richard passes on and Robin and Little John end up back in the Sherwood forest. When he gets back home robin goes back to find Lady Marian and he is very surprised to learn that she has joined the clergy.Marian is a very insecure aging women who is scared to let Robin back in her heart because she feels he will leave her because of his lust for mischief and battle.Everybody seems to be interested in Robin and Johns return home especially king John and The Sheriff of Nottingham. The people join with Robin and Little John to have one more battle for their rights despite Lady Marian begging Robin not fight but to focus on their love. Its a beautiful love story with lots of laughs and heartache.
http://movieactors.com/freezeframes-77/RobinAndMarian45.jpeg

This film has alot of great Actors. Sean Connery plays Robin Hood and Audrey Hepburn plays Lady Marian. This was Audrey's first film after a eight year absence. Hepburn and Connery shined together, they played the insecure aging couple wonderfully. The couples love and there insecurities and issues all felt very real,I was very impressed. The thing that is nice about this film is that it gives Robin Hood a final chapter. The ending was not my favorite but it suited the Robin Hood tale very well.If you ever wondered what the hell happened to Robin Hood watch this film, its not amazing but overall its a real good film.

ChungKing Express 1994 Kar Wai Wong

ChungKing Express is beautiful drama from Hong Kong and is directed by Kar Wai Wong. I want to start off by saying I really loved this film. Its a drama/romance and its a real fun film to watch and not to mention the visuals are amazing.ChunKing Express is two stories, each story is about a Hong Kong policeman and their ups and down with relationships. The thing I really enjoyed about this film is that it's about romance but its not all about happy endings, Wong seemed to focus more on the characters journey not their destination and it really seemed to work for this film.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/c0/Chungking_Express.jpg/220px-Chungking_Express.jpg

The film's first story is about Cop 663.Cop 663 is dumped by his girlfriend a month ago and he can not seem to fully accept that.He buys a can of pineapples all with an expiry day of May 1 ( May is the name of his Ex) and he has decided that if she dose not come back to him by May 1 which is also his 25Th birthday he will say goodbye to her forever and move one with his life. In this story we also meet the women in the Blond wig, she smuggles heroin and she just lost a shipment and is very concerned that she will not be able to find her drugs in time. Cop 663 takes one glance at her and decides that he is in love with her and thats pretty much what story one is about. This part of the film is probably my favorite, what I like about it is that it shows you how much impact one act of kindness can have on a person. Its a beautiful story about rejection and hope. The First part of the film stars Briddgitte Lin as the Women in the blond wig and Tony Leung Chiu Wai as cop 663.

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/protectedimage.php?image=NoelMegahey/chungking1.jpg

The Second part of the film is about He Zhiwu,Cop 223. His Air hostess girlfriend just left him and he is feeling utterly hopeless. He goes to a café and meets a kooky waitress who falls in love with him right away.Waitress Faye is an odd girl who dreams about traveling and constantly listens to the song California dreams by The mamma's and the Papa's. Cop 223 gives Fay his address and she decides to break in to his house everyday when he is working and she cleans and redecorates and day dreams about this cop that she has a crush on. This film focuses on two people who are not quite content with life and its shows how two lonely people can add happiness to each other lives. I also loved this story not as much as the first part but it still was a really great tale. This part of the film stars Takeshi Kaneshiro as cop 223,Valerie Chow as Air Hostess and Faye Wong as Faye.

This film and Wongs Fallen Angels were both released by Miramax under Quentin Tarantino's Rolling Thunder imprint. In the middle of this film i thought it was gonna turn into a shoot em up action film, but it didn't it did the opposite. Chungking express is a character based film and also focuses on Hong Kong's night life. I loved all the character in this film each person in this film was a bit odd but i could not help relating a little bit to each person in the film.another thing that I liked about this film is that the Two story's are completely separate,The only thing they have in common is a little café. This was a really great watch and if you enjoy Asian films I highly suggest you check this one out.

F for Fakes (Verites et Mensonges) 1973 Orson Welles

Finally a film that me and Plainview agreed on and watched together! yay! F for Fake is the last major film by Orson Welles,Welles directed,co-wrote and starred in this loose documentary about the art forger Elmyr de Hory. The main topics of this film are fakery, forgery, swindling and art. This film is made from discarded footage by Francois Reichenbach and new material from Welles.I really enjoyed this film and I really enjoy the way this film was edited and Michel Legrand provided a wonderful score for this film.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5t-HQLlzEC4/S9pM-NC5TiI/AAAAAAAAAHk/71TJ9B6vBx4/s1600/f-for-fake.jpg

F for Fake is about Elmyr de Hory the art forger, Clifford Irving the notorious hoax-biographer and even Orson Welles him self. This film pretty much follows these people around and tells a story of why they do the things they do.De hory is an art forger because he could not make a career on his own paintings so he began copying real masterpieces and he was real good at it.Apparently a few years after this film de Hory committed suicide because Spain was gonna to hand him over to the French authorities. Clifford Irving Wrote a fake biography about Howard Hughes which was later fictionalized in a another book he wrote called The Hoax.Brilliant.

Fontane Effi Briest 1974 Directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder

Effi Briest is a film directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder and based on a novel written by Theodor Fontane.I had the pleasure of watching this beautiful film last night and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Effi Briest is narrated by a few different people and Fassbinder used original quotes form Theodor's novel. I have not read the book yet but I would really like to.To sum up Effi Briest is a highly political ,beautiful, heartbreaking tale of a marriage that is not quite right.

http://bluebirdsaresonatural.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/effi-briest.jpg?w=296&h=419

Effi is 17 when her parents marry her off to the older Baron Von Instetten.Effi is not quite ready for marriage but she goes in to it holding her head up high and she really tries to make the best of things. She moves in to Instetten's house and right away she dose not feel quite right and this is not because of the Baron but more because she feels the presence of a ghost. The Baron tells Effi Ghost story's so he can strike the fear of god into her and he does this because he wants to control her.He wants to control her because he travels quite a bit to further his career. In the end Effi feels very lonely and she feels like she has a school master for a husband. They have a daughter by the name of Annie and Effi hires a damaged catholic women Roswitha to take care of her and her daughter.Effi ends up having an affair with Major Crampas and she does this because shes lonely and scared not because she loves Major Crampas. In the end the Baron and Effi and her family move to Berlin and six years after the affair the Baron finds out about his wifes infidelities and thats when their relationship falls apart. One of my favorite parts of this film was the dialog. The way that the main characters talk to each other was very entertaining.Hanna Schygulla played Effi and did a wonderful job of playing a young girl in turmoil,I was very I'm pressed with her performance.Wolfgang Schenck Played the Cold hearted Barron and also did a very good job.
http://media.jinni.com/movie/effi-briest/effi-briest-1.jpeg

I defiantly enjoyed this film and I loved they way it looked. The film is black and white but it has this wonderful shade of gray to it,that I really enjoyed.I also really like the way the film was edited and the way the film had quotes from the original novel was pretty neat. This is probably not my favorite Fassbinder film but I did really enjoy watching this beautiful story of betrayal and heartbreak.

Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la Bete)1946 Jean Cocteau

La Belle et la Bete may just be one of the finest romantic fantasy films I have ever see.I always get really excited when I watch a film that I really love and I can not express how much I enjoyed Watching Jean Cocteau's version of this beautiful tale. This film is adapted by two fairy tale novels the first one is Le Magasin des Enfants published in 1757 and the second novel La chatte Blanche by Marie-Catherine d'Aulnoy.I absolutely loved everything about this film,The costumes, the score, the cinematography, the special effects and the acting all had a wonderful magical feeling to it.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_EDykcH4IY2A/TMBqpmOMvYI/AAAAAAAAALs/eoWC21vYq5M/s1600/La_Belle_et_la_Be%CC%82te_film.jpg

This film is about a young women Belle who is full of hopes and dreams and is devoted to taking care of her family. Her father trys his best to provide for his family and Belle has two bratty sisters that wish to be rich and a drunken brother that is kind of a failure at life.Belles father go away in hope of making some money which dose not go the way he plans,On his return he picks a rose for Belle from a forbidden garden and he runs in to a very ugly creature which he calls The Beast.Beast tells Belles dad that the punishment for picking this rose is death or one o his daughters can replace him. When he returns home after telling his family all about his journey he falls ill and Belle secretly sets off to to take her fathers place.Belle is absolutely horrified when she meets this beast, but she agrees to stay even tho she misses her father horribly.Eventually Belle and the Beast bond and the Beast lets her return home for a week to see her father as long as she promises to return.I absolutely loved the acting in this film. Belle was played by Josette Day and Jean Marais played The Beast,The Prince and Avenant.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_40JIWrtw7UU/TKqHASqoioI/AAAAAAAAAEw/2Zc67HBDrTc/s1600/la-belle-et-la-bete.jpg

La Belle et la Bete is just a beautiful film that is wonderful to look at and the story itself pulls at the heart just like a good romance film should. When I Was growing up Disney's version of Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite films, but Jean Cocteau's version of this tale is a hundred times better. If you enjoy romance and fantasy films La Belle et la Bete is the perfect film to watch.

I've watched it at least three times, and it's a bona fide classic, so I'm not really trying to slam the film, but I have a disconnect with many classics although I champion many of them. I do think there are several cool scenes, especially the way the Beast's house comes to life, but I'll almost always prefer the Disney [animated] version, and that's probably the biggest difference between Harry and me.

I think that the original, classic Cocteau La belle et la bete isn't as wonderful as others. I was trying to come up with reasons why this might be true. I'm an American, and many people from other countries believe that all Americans are heathen (or not) but they certainly believe we're Imperialist. Now, I must be a racist too because I tend to give foreign-language films lower ratings than those in English, but I do also try to balance that out by telling people that you can always drop my Anglo-American films one rating and raise my opposite of those a rating. Film is a visual storytelling medium. However, since even most non-English-language films rely on lots of dialogue (and these fire dialogue/narration at a rapid pace: Amelie, Elite Squad, Z), I often find it difficult to fully grasp films which are not in my native language and show a culture in some relatable terms more difficult to grasp and appreciate. The fact that I expose myself to many hundreds/thousands of different non-English-language movies should give me some slack in what I know and don't know, but there's always somebody who's more of an aficianado than you or I am.

Hey I agree with you, everyone has different taste in film whether its a foreign film or not. Love Exposure is a very daring 4 hour Japanese film about love, family, religion, perversion, sexuality and pantie peeking.I personally really enjoyed this film,I wasn't to sure if I would be able to sit threw a 4 hour film but the length of the film seemed to suit the story. When it finally ended I was kind of sad I wanted the film to keep going and thats the thing about this film is that you really fall in love with the characters. The thing is I don't really wanna get into the plot to much it is so complicated that I really do not want to give any spoilers away.Love Exposure is about a young mans journey in to finding the girl of his dreams and his journey into a life of sin. This film focuses on the bond of family and religion and it has alot of twist and turns and really is very exciting,This film really keeps you on the edge of your seat. Love Exposure has alot of great actors in it,The three main actors in this film are Takahiro Nishijima,Hikari Mitsushima and Saruka Ando. This film is very exciting and really fun to watch,if you like Quentin Tarantino films then you would really like this film.

When it finally ended I was kind of sad I wanted the film to keep going and thats the thing about this film is that you really fall in love with the characters.Pretty much this.

The original cut was six hours long. I'm sure it would have been just as watchable though.

Love Exposure dose have alot of disgusting violent scenes but it suits the film well, and its not a film about violence it is overall more of a romance.

I just wanted to mention what an amazing job actress Hikari Mitsushima did playing Yoko Ozawa. She played the part of a sexually confused young girl very well. The way she giggled like a school girl and the way she screamed and reacted to certain situations was amazing.Yoko Ozawa is an emotional girl and Hikari played that part so freaken well.Plus she is so cute.:up:

Noriko's Dinner Table (Noriko no shokutaku) 2005 Shion Sono

Honestly I am not to sure what I think about Noriko's Dinner Table,One thing I do know is that this film really gave me the creeps. This film is more mentally creepy then it is gory. There is barely any blood and guts in this film but its just really odd.I am not a big fan of this film but I have to admit the story itself was very original, Shion Sono must have a huge twisted imagination.
http://static.cdn.masjo.com/movie/images/norikos-dinner-table.jpg

This film is about a 17 year old girl named Noriko,Noriko is unhappy with her life and feels that there is so much more just waiting for her but she feels her parents are holding her back from becoming a women.Noriko joins a website for girls that are unsatisfied with there home life,on this website she meets a girl and decides to run away to meet this Kumiko. She leaves everybody even her younger sister Yuka.Noriko arrives in Tokyo and Kumiko Brainwashes her into believing she is a brand new person. She joins a "family circle program" and in this program Kumiko takes young girls that are unhappy with there lives and rents them out to people who do not have daughters or wives.Eventually Yuka joins this family circle program and these two sisters leave their family in turmoil and they have to suffer the consequences for their actions.Noriko is played by Kazue Fikiishi,Kumiko is played by Tsugumi and Yuka is played by Yuriko Yoshitaka.I honestly had a hard time getting in to this film and it is 3 hours long but I did like the story and the one thing I did love about this film was it's dialog at times it felt very poetic. It was defiantly a mentally creepy film and very interesting.I am glad I watched Noriko's Dinner Table but I wasn't amazed by it.

Lost in Translation 2003 Sofia Coppola

I just watched Lost in Translation last night and I really liked it,I found it very entertaining. This really is a beautiful film. This is a film about relationships, the film is very real and delicate and it focuses on body language and unspoken desire.Bill Murray plays is Bob Harris an actor unfulfilled with life and in the middle of mid life crisis. Scarlett Johansson plays Charlotte a newly wed who feels abandoned by her husband. The film is shot beautifully in Japan.Bob is in Japan doing a whiskey commercials and Charlotte is there because of her husbands work. Both of the main characters are unhappy with their lives and they meet and the film is about there unlikely bond.

For me Bill defiantly stood out,his performance was amazing,he plays this depressed human being but he did it with such humor and charm.I absolutely loved him in this film.Scarlett did a well job to,I love the being shot of her bum and then the film title comes up,I thought that was pretty cool. All in all it was a good film. Its a simple story about to unhappy people who find some kind of happiness in each other that is not based on sex.

The African Queen 1951 John Huston

The African Queen is fine first world war adventure staring Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart and is directed by the great John Huston. Bogart won an Oscar for his role as a unkempt steamboat skipper Charlie Allnut. Hepburn played a goody- good woman Rose sayer, and apparently she tryed to base her character on Eleanor Roosevelt.I did enjoy this film alot its a extravagant story of romance and adventure. The film is about Charlie and rose's adventure in a boat called the African Queen. They travel down a river in Africa trying to avoid the Germans,Rose convinces Charlie to go a certain way and to make torpedoes to fight the Germans. This film is all about Rose and Charlie's adventure along the river and their unlikely bond.Bogart was great in this film he defiantly gave a stand out performance. I like this film because its a good mix of romance and adventure,Me and Plainview enjoyed watching this one together,It is a good film to snuggle to. :yup:

It's a Wonderful Life 1946 Frank Capra

I remember watching bits and pieces of this film when I was a little girl and I decided it was finally time to watch It's a Wonderful Life and let me tell you this is a wonderful film. What is a amazing about this film is how well it holds up over time,It is one of those films that will never be forgotten no matter how many years pass by.The thing that I really love about this film is it's an uplifting story about a mans up and downs with life.I have decided when ever I feel frustrated or ungrateful with life that I'm going to throw on this film because their is alot of life lessons and good values in this film.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/95/Its_A_Wonderful_Life_Movie_Poster.jpg/220px-Its_A_Wonderful_Life_Movie_Poster.jpg

It's a Wonderful Life is a story about a man George Bailey played by James Stewart,Who wants to get out of his home town BedFord Falls and travel the world but instead he ends up taking over his fathers loan business because he feels obligated to.George ends up getting married to is high school sweet heart Mary played by Donna Reed and has alot of children.George feels like he hates how his life has ended up and a bunch of problems and business mistakes makes George contemplate suicide. In an unexpected turn and an angel ends up showing George what life would be like if George Bailey was never born.Honestly I just instantly fell in love with this story, Its one of those films that no matter who you are you can relate to something in this film.

http://content.artofmanliness.com/uploads/2008/12/its_a_wonderful_life_stort.jpg

The lesson in this film is fairly simple,Everybody has a role to play in this world and no matter who you are you are important. The acting in this film is very pleasant.James Stewart was wonderful and I really enjoyed Donna Reid's character Mary.I really loved everything about this film the direction, the score, the story,it was all really entertaining.I have to say this film is probably the best and most satisfying film I have watched recently and my favorite film in this thread so far.

So I have 3 kids that are the ages of 5,4,and 3 so needless to say I watch alot of cartoons with them, some of them of good and some of the animation they watch is just crap. Lately they have been watching alot of Disney films and here is two of my favorites that me my kids have watched together.

Peter Pan 1953
I think whats so wonderful about this film is the story,It just has such a magical feeling to it.When I was a little girl I remember after seeing Peter Pan all I wanted to do was stay a kid forever. This is a good cartoon for both boys and girls because its got everything in it ,Its got action, love, magic and faeries. The music score is fine but one of the songs is a little bit questionable " What makes the red man red" and their is a few sexist comment but really its harmless. If I had to describe this film in one word it would probably be Enchanting.

3.5 If I was a little girl I would probably rate it a 5

Beauty and the Beast 1991

Beauty and the Beast was my Absolute favorite film when I was a little girl and It makes me really happy that my kids (not so much the boy) love this film just as I did when I was younger.Beauty and the Beast is a delightful cartoon about a young girl that finds her self if in a odd situation where she has to live in a enchanted castle with a beast and ends up having feelings for the beast. This film is filled with emotion, beautiful music, amazing animation and characters that you can't help but fall in love with. I just watch the French version La Belle et La Bete and honestly I like the French version better but their is certain things that I like about the Disney version better. One of the things I like about the Disney version is how everything in the castle comes to life.My favorite character obviously is The candle stick Lumière,He has got so much attitude he reminds me of my youngest daughter. Its just a really fun and exciting film to watch with your family.

Amelie(Le Fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poilain) 2001 Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Amelie is really a one of a kind, eccentric film that is guaranteed to raise your spirits.I have to say I have been really lucky to see such wonderful films lately and Amelie is defiantly one of those films. This film is jut so much fun from begging to end,It just bursts with love, joy and energy.Amelie is a rare film because its a romantic comedy that will make you laugh and fall in love all at the same time.

http://roadmoviemobcinema.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/amelie-film-poster.jpg

This film is about a young woman by the name of Amelie played by Audrey Tautou.Amelie feels disconnected from life and and she is sort of an odd girl which is because of a loveless childhood. An incident occurs where Amelie helps out another human being and then decides that she is meant to make other people feel good.On her journey of fulfilling other peoples happiness she falls in love with the one person that is right for her.I just have to point out an amazing job Tatou did playing Amelie,I could not take my eyes off her, She did a splendid job and is a beautiful actress.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DrqrzGaDaRw/TeResPMiP4I/AAAAAAAABzA/VvYv4-6TCzA/s400/amelie-drops-something.jpg

This a film that is so original,so funny, and so heart warming its one of those films that will leave you smiling for hours.Amelie has a charming but hilarious script and is brought to life visually by director Jean-Pierre Jeunet.I am really happy that I watched this film and if you have not seen Amelie I highly suggest it.

Sophie's Choice 1982 directed by Alan J.Pakula

I had a pleasant experience watching Sophie's Choice for the first time, what a film I really enjoyed it.It got under my skin for a little while and it is a really emotional film because its so well imagined and casted perfectly.I defiantly teared up a little while I was watching it and i know it bugged Plainview quite a bit but I think that was the point of the film. Its a tragedy filled with romance, friendship and heartbreak.I also really loved the music score for this film, the music really suited all the scenes in the film.

http://www.posters555.com/pictures/Sophie%27s-Choice-(1982)-picture-MOV_d0d41faf_b.jpg

Sophie's Choice is a film that follows three people and their struggles with life.Meryl Streep plays Sophie a woman who has pretty much lost everything in her life,Shes a survivor of a Nazi concentration camp and she is haunted and obsessed with everything that happened in her past. The film takes place in 1947 and there is a lot of flashbacks to the time where Sophie was incarcerated in the concentration camp.Sophie meets a man by the name of Nathan (Kevin Kline) Nathan is an American Jew obsessed with the Holocaust and he has a few secrets and he also has alot of personal struggles.Nathan and Sophie end up being an couple and they fit well together and they meet Stingo played by Peter MacNicol and all three of them become very good friends.Stingo is a writer and also the narrator of this film, he moves to Newyork and gets sucked into all of Sophie's and Nathan's drama. It really is just a beautiful story.

http://thegoodparts.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/5-sophies-choice-meryl-streep-2.jpg

Its no secret that Meryl streep was absolutely amazing in this film and she also won an Oscar for her portrayal of Sophie but I just want to mention what an amazing job Kevin Kline did I was moved by his performance, He did a splendid job Playing Nathan who is really an odd character with alot of mood swings. My favorite part of the scene is probably when Sophie explains her experiences in the Concentration camps,As she tells the story all you can see is her face and then it flashes back to the time where she was at the camps,It was just beautiful the way she told her story. The Hardest part for me to watch was when Sophie did make her choice it was very heartbreaking scene. So ya I really liked this film alot but If your gonna watch it I highly suggest a big box of Kleenex and maybe If you have kids hug em before you watch it.:yup:

Harold and Maude 1971 directed by Hal Ashby

I gotta say this is the second film that Ash is the gal has suggested and I have to say that I really did enjoy this film.Harold and Maude is about a young rich boy who has a dark obsession with death and a 79 year old woman who has a certain lust for life. Harold and Maude meet at a funeral and instantly bond, Harold is obsessed with anything to do with death and Maude loves to watch things grow and even tho their relationship is odd it works.
http://www.nashvillescene.com/imager/the-belcourt-midnight-movie-harold-and-maude/b/original/1226894/13be/294d_4351689.t.jpg

I liked this film alot and I have to say that my favorite thing about was the music score,Cat Stevens did an amazing job and the music fit the film perfectly. Its a good film,Its not normal and its defiantly not predictable but it is a bright, slightly moving dark comedy defiantly a film worth watching.

The French Connection 1971 directed by William Friedkin

I have had the t.v and computer all to myself the last two days due to Plainview's shift change at work so I have been able to watch whatever I want, and I just finished watching Fredkins French Connection and I was very Impressed.I'm not gonna lie I kind of thought that I wouldn't like this film and the first 20 mins I wasn't to impressed but then I really got into it and I absolutely fell in love with it.This film is very impressive, stylish and pretty powerful.I know it won best picture that year and I still think Kubrick's masterpiece A Clockwork Orange should of won,but this is still a really great and entertaining film. The French Connection is a film about two cops that are working day in and day out to bust a Heroin smuggling ring that has a French Connection.

http://imagecache6.allposters.com/LRG/40/4031/FVBLF00Z.jpg

Gene Hackman played cop Jimmy Doyle and he played it perfectly and his portrayal of Jimmy Doyle in my opinion was one of his most powerful roles I have seen from him,so far.Roy Scheider played Det.Buddy Russo and he also very good,Hackman and Scheider had wonderful chemistry.Director Fredkin was successfully in making an intense film that blends action and cinematic realism,If your into films about criminals, cops, and drug trafficking then you should definitely check out this film.

So I know I haven't really done much in this thread lately,I have just been busy enjoying the summer with my Lil ones.I have found my self getting a Lil bored lately so I thought this might give me something to do.Anyways Ive been watching alot of movies lately and here is one that I watched for the first time last week that I really enjoyed.

Breathless 1960 directed by Jean-luc Godard

http://static3.unlike.net/system/photos/0050/0899/breathless.jpg?1248700645

I watched this film for the first time last week and I absolutely fell in love with Godard's classic Breathless.I have to say there is many things about this film that I enjoyed, and at first I wasn't sure if I would be able to sit through all the dialog and sometimes its gets boring but stick out because it is in my mind just a beautiful film.Breathless is a film about a car thief who commits a crime and then trys to convince an American woman who he loves to run away to Rome with him.Jean Seberg plays the American woman Patricia and she plays the part of a young but beautiful feisty woman who is not sure of her feelings for this new man in her life.Jean -Paul Belmondo Played the part of a car thief named Michel Poiccard and he did an amazing jo, I really enjoyed him in this film alot.
Breathless is a film that is simply just all about style. I enjoyed it so much I looked a few things up and I absolutely love Goddards quote that all you need to make a film is 'A gun and a girl".This film was shot by only two people,Godard and his cinematographer, Rouald and under a budget of $50,000.The film is just really great I love the detailing in each and every scene . Bottom line this is a great film,Godard did a wonderful job and the man who wrote the story Francois Truffaut (400 blows) also did a great job.

If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle (Eu cand vreau sa fluier, fluier) 2010 directed by Florin Serban

http://www.icr.ro/images/menu_photos/6883_0_1.jpg

If I Want to Whistle,I Whistle Is a good intelligent film but defiantly not for everybody. I personally really enjoyed this film quite a bit. If you are looking for a film with a crazy prison break and lots of violence then do not watch this film. This film is a drama about a boy named Silviu who is incarcerated in youth prison in Romania. It's not your typical prison film,It is more of a character piece and the film focuses on the ups and downs of Silviu a week before he is supposed to be released. I have to say I was kind of shocked by this film because it was not what I expected at all and it was a pleasant surprise.I could see how people could dislike this film because its a little slow but thats because the whole film is about this one boy and the character Silviu is very interesting. Two Thumbs up for George Pistereanu he played Silviu and he did an Incredible job.If you like films that focus on one protagonist then is defiantly a film you should check out.

4 Months,3 Weeks and 2 Days (4 luni, 3 saptamâni si 2 zile) 2007 directed by Christian Mungiu

4 Months,3 Weeks and 2 Days is a beautiful film about disturbing circumstances and the film is set in the late 80's in Communist Romania during the final years of Nicolae Ceausescu. This is an extremely emotional film about two young women dealing with real life issues. When I watched this film it was right before I went to bed and its probably not the best film to watch right before bed and not because its gory or scary but because it is one of those films that turns your brain on and once you see this film its hard not to constantly think about it. The direction of this film is perfect. The camera work is great and it's not flashy or cheesy and it fits the story quite well.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3mCOm4wxK3M/SZ8LbWLpgKI/AAAAAAAAByI/jwF0unARiVk/s400/4+months.jpg

The film is about two young girls in their 20's.The film is based in Romania In 1987 when abortion is illegal. I don't want to give to many spoilers but to sum it up the film is about a girl Gabriela who is pregnant and forced to have an illegal abortion in a hotel room. We also meet Gabriela's roommate Otilia who agrees to help her friend but in the long end she ends up pretty much having to organize the whole thing. This film is hard to watch because of the controversial subject and because the acting is so well done that you can feel the main characters pain and its just a film that really gets to you emotionally. Its not really a film about wether abortion is right or wrong its more about these young girls experiences and their heart ache. If you have not seen this film I highly suggest it.
