The identity of Banksy

There have been several attempts over the past couple of weeks by a certain person or persons to auction off the identity of the notorious Bristol Bomber known as Banksy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banksy).

All previous auctions have been unceremoniously plucked from eBay by the Powers That Be, the most recent of which reached a rather ridiculous bid of $999,999 (http://animalnewyork.com/2011/01/banksys-identity-ebay-auction-pulled-after-hitting-9999999-00/)before being unplugged. Just as quickly, however, a new auction has emerged (http://cgi.ebay.com/Identity-Banksy-/130476675195?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e6104107b#ht_500wt_1156), this one starting at a quaint $3,000.

Whether eBay likes it or not, I have a feeling the folk/s behind this effort won’t stop until Banksy’s identity is known to all. I can't believe anyone gives a ****. I'd rather have known who The Stig was and I didn't care about that either.

Actually, the sooner everyone finds out it's just another middle-class, privately educated schoolboy, the sooner they can all write him off and I won't have to hear about him again. So, maybe, I'd rather his identity is 'revealed'.

Maybe that's what they should do. All the theories should get backers and then have an auction and the one who bids highest becomes the 'official' version.

The only problem with this is you know that some Hollywood suit would make sure that the Queen's physician theory (possibly the least credible of any I've ever read) won (as that's Hollywood's favourite version) and I'd have to swallow it or become a 'Ripper denier'. :D
