What’s the status of your favorite TV show?

UK SHOWS

Ashes To Ashes
The final series of the show starts in a few weeks’ time (exact date to be confirmed). It’s an eight-episode run that will round off Gene Hunt’s story arc.

Being Human
A third series is going into production later this year.

Doctor Who
Returning to our screens for a new 13-episode series on 3rd April. There'll be the usual Christmas special this year, too.

Misfits
Series two will pick up immediately after the adventures of the first, and it’s expected back on E4 at the end of the year.

Not Going Out
Forgive the indulgence, but some of us are huge fans of Not Going Out, so we thought we’d better mention it. A fourth series has finally been commissioned, with work due to start this year.

The Sarah Jane Adventures
Two new series commissioned, the first for broadcast in the autumn.

Paradox
Given the cliffhanger of sorts series one left things on, you’d have expected an announcement on the future of Paradox by now. The fact that one hasn’t been forthcoming? Hmmm. We suspect this is up in the air still, with the chances are that it won’t be returning.

Psychoville
Two treats are in the offing for Psychoville fans. Firstly, there’s a one-off special coming later this year, which should explain the cliffhanger ending to series one. And then a six-episode second series will be appearing on our screens in spring 2011.

Primeval
After originally being canned by ITV, a deal was struck with cable channel Watch and a few other partners to fund further adventures. As such, two new series of Primeval are on the way, both of them set for transmission in 2011.

Red Dwarf
There seems intent to make ‘series 10’ of the show, even if the starting gun hasn’t yet been officially fired. If all goes to plan, the new series will go into production, with the help of cable channel Dave, at some point this year.

Survivors
Given the cliffhanger at the end of series two, and given the relative success of the show in the ratings, the official nod for a third series of Survivors is a formality (although it’s not a cheap show to produce, to be fair).

Torchwood
Not so clear. Most seem keen to make a full series four of Torchwood, but that plan may have been scuppered by Fox’s interest in the States in making a US version. Given that Russell T Davies is living in America now, the main focus will be on Torchwood USA before a new UK series of the show is given the formal go ahead.

US SHOWS

24
Hmmm. A show that many feel should be put out of its misery, yet 24 continues to deliver ratings and boxset sales for Fox. It was widely believed that season 8 would mark the end of the show’s run, not least because Kiefer’s contract is up, but there seems some enthusiasm among the show’s producers to go for a ninth run. Plus, where’s Kiefer going to get another job that pays this well, unless it’s a 24 movie? Expect a decision soon.

30 Rock
It’s officially coming back, with a new season order already placed.

Big Love
Season five has already been commissioned and will begin in 2011.

Breaking Bad
Season three starts March 21st.

Burn Notice
Season four has already been greenlit.

Californication
Mr Duchovny and the team are already working on season four. It’ll arrive towards the end of the year.

Caprica
The SyFy umbrella gives it some safety, but Caprica has struggled thus far to get a strong audience, and the critical response has been mixed. We’d still expect a second season.

Chuck
Given the hoo-ha last year about Chuck’s will-it-won’t-be renewal saga, this year it looks relatively straightforward. Ironically, the show seems a bit weaker than a year back, yet its ratings are decent enough for NBC to commission a fourth season.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
No decision yet, and the fate of the show is still to be determined. We suspect it has a sporting chance, though.

Dexter
Two more seasons have definitely been commissioned, and if all goes to plan, season five will be kicking off in the autumn, right where season four left off.

Dollhouse
It’s gone, never to return. Epitaph Two, the final episode of season two, marked the end of Dollhouse, and don’t expect to see that much clamouring for a movie this time either. Sorry, Joss.

Entourage
Season seven has been given the green light.

Eureka
SyFy has already put in an order for season four.

Family Guy
The next season has already been commissioned.

FlashForward
ABC’s new sci-fi show may have been struggling to win critics over, and its US ratings may have been tumbling. Yet, it’s thriving in international territories, including the UK. That may be enough to persuade ABC to stump up for another season.

Fringe
Fox is sticking with JJ Abrams’ Fringe, and has given it an early renewal for a third season.

Glee
You won’t be shocked to hear that Glee’s already got its second season order in the bag.

Heroes
Stuck in many kinds of limbo – creative, ratings and commissioning - there seems little enthusiasm for a fifth season of Heroes, especially as the DVD sales apparently started to dwindle with season three. NBC doesn’t have too much else in the genre to replace it with, yet, our guess is that Heroes’ days are numbered.

Lost
The final season, as you probably know, is well underway, and then it’s bye bye Lost in its current guise.

Mad Men
Season four has already been commissioned and is arriving later this year.

Modern Family
The hit new comedy of the year, and one that’s firmly earned its second season order.

Sanctuary
Renewed. SyFy has already stumped up for season three.

Smallville
The CW has already announced that it’ll be renewing the show for a tenth season, off the back of its improved performance in the ratings this year.

Sons Of Anarchy
Returning for its third season, which is due to start in September.

Stargate Universe
A second season already in the works.

Supernatural
Renewed for a new season.

The Office
Renewed for a seventh season.

True Blood
Season three is well into production and begins in the summer, and the chances of a fourth season after that are high.

The Tudors
The fourth and final season begins airing in the US in June.

V
This one’s hanging in the air a little, and ABC appears to be holding off making its choice until the show returns in a few weeks’ time. If the ratings hold up, then expect a season two. If not, the axe man cometh.

The Vampire Diaries
Renewed for a new season

I'm really excited for more Ashes to Ashes, although I didn't enjoy the second series as much as the first, I thought the series arc was a bit contrived in places. And Doctor Who coming back soon. Some fans seem a little dubious about the trailers for the new series but I think it needs to be given a chance. Fingers crossed for more Survivors. It's daft and I often find myself rolling my eyes at it but it's enjoyable all the same. After Children of Earth I can't really bring myself to care whether Torchwood comes back or not.

Waiting for Madmen and True Blood. Still grieving over Deadwood, and it's been a while....:(

Really looking forward to Ashes To Ashes. I liked it more than Life On Mars and thought they did an excellent job getting it away from that series ASAP without just ignoring it.

Fastforward, Happy Town, Scrubs, Romantically Challenged and Better Off Ted have all been axed. Though Alyssa Milano insists that RC has not been offically cancelled.

Lots of shows still on the bubble, though it seems that Law & Order looks most likely to go atm.

V, Human Target and Chuck have all been renewed.

Just read about FF yesterday (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/05/13/abc-cancels-romantically-challenged-scrubs-ted-flashforward/). :/ It wasn't that bad of a show. It would be interesting if they come back for like mini-movies of the week or straight to DVD releases to continue the storyline. The show is pretty intriguing.

I'm not happy about losing Legend of the Seeker, Heroes, FlashForward, and Better off Ted.
I was a little worried for the fates of Chuck and Fringe.
I'm glad they got renewed.

It seems like all the shows I like are getting canceled. :/ Im glad Fringe is coming back for a third season though. I can't see how people could not like it. If Fringe goes I'd be really upset :(

NBC is talking to "Heroes" Tim Kring about a 2 hour movie wrap up.
