View Full Version : Who would you fight?

Monkeypunch

I was just thinking about that scene in Fight Club where Brad Pitt asks Edward Norton if you could fight any one celebrity or historical figure, who would you fight? so the question stands...Who would YOU fight? They can be alive or dead, a celebrity or non, a historical figure, etc. I'll start off:

Celebrity: Russel Crowe

Historical Figure: Adolph Hitler

(if you already had this thread, I humbly apologize. It just hit me. I think this Russel Crowe avatar is a bad influence on me....)

Well, we've had a "Who would you JELL-O wrestle?" thread, but this is somewhat different.

Celebrity: umm. I dunno. Maybe Streisand. Yes, I'd fight a woman. She's an exception to that rule.

Historical figure: I can't decide. Maybe Hitler. I can't bring myself to put much mental energy into this decision. :)

wait, wait, is the question

who's a$$ do you wanna kick?

or is it

who do you think you could take?

i definitely want to beat the something or other out of Carrot top. can't this guy go away? every time i see him, i want to wash my eyeballs. he makes me wish i were blind, and not too many people do that.

i really have no experience fighting. i could probably whup..... i dunno....... steve urkel or estelle getty or crispin glover or something.

historical figure: of course anyone evil, such as hitler. that goes without saying. he's an entity of pure malice, who DOESN'T want to beat him up?

personally, i'll go with vlad the impaler. what a jerk! that turd always struck me as a tad grumpy, don't you think?

Marcellus

Celebrity - Tom Green

Historical Figure - not sure :/

Too many people have said Hitler.

BrodieMan
04-10-02, 01:18 AM
i hate harry truman. i want to beat him so bad i can taste it. every night before i go to bed i punch or stab my giant harry truman effigy, ray finkle-style. i think it's those glasses! the way he wore them, just...... just...... showing off how cool they were! oh, damn you harry truman! damn you to hell! if only you knew how much pain and anguish you've caused me over the years!

i'm kidding! :D

Brad Pitt
&
Mussolini

Because:

I think I could take Pitt and I think people would be suprised. Give them a show, indeed.

Mussolini because he's like a fat, stupid Hitler. Hitty was a smart guy, don't under estimate him. Musso would just be sweating with this great swathe of fat. I'd laugh at him as he had a cradiac arrest.

Holden Pike
04-10-02, 08:55 AM
I'd fight Celine Dion (http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Events/0433-aca/dionceli.ne%23), and after I washed her g*ddamn blood from my hands I'd fight General George Armstrong Custer (http://www.pbs.org/weta/thewest/people/images/custer1.jpg).

I seriously want to fight Jet Li. Just me and him in a boxing ring. No ropes to pull him up to astronomical heights, no hanging suspended in mid air, no theatrical crap. Yeahhh Jet's mine. Or Seagal... in fact Seagal is worse. I'd beat him into linguini... :D

Historical... Hmmmm... Stalin, maybe. Not much sport in it though same with Hitler... they don't look like they could defend themselves very well. How about Atilla the Hun? That would be cool, if you don't win you get eaten, pretty good incentive to kick bootay.

Celebrity...Jason Biggs

Historical figure...tough one...Richard Nixon

Yoda
04-10-02, 10:34 AM
I wouldn't fight Jet Li. There's not a MoFo here who could take him. I wouldn't want to squander such a wonderful opportunity on someone who'd just beat the snot out of me anyway. :D Hence, I pick a highly obnoxious woman. Spud: Richard Nixon? Wow. Now there's a surprise. I don't like him either, but I wouldn't want to break the poor bastard's hip, either.

spudracer
04-10-02, 10:41 AM
I'd fight him now, you know, he's already down for the count so all I have to do is pin him. :rotfl:

See this sucks cause I can't remember much of my high school classes anymore. I can't remember who really pissed me off...

Maybe Linden.

Come on, the guy might weigh 120 pounds soaking wet. They make him look impressive but I've gotten in tangles with martial arts guys before ( I've studied Aikido, grappling) and their skills don't impress me much. Watch Ultimate fighting sometime... it's never the showy kick/punch fighters that win. It's almost always the grapplers who can take a punch. They work the inside and tie those dudes up like spaghetti.

Yoda
04-10-02, 10:51 AM
True, but still. I think the little bugger's too fast. Grappling or not, my money's on Li. No offense. :)

"Mmm, judge me by size, do you?" -- YODA

Sir Toose
04-10-02, 10:57 AM
Judge me by size... haha. Li does not command the force, my friend. The laws of physics say he can't deliver a strong punch. He's simply too light. He could deliver a devastating punch to another 120 pound guy but not to someone way bigger who knows to protect the pressure points he's aiming for. The guy is blindingly fast but there is a reason for weight classes in competition

Yoda
04-10-02, 10:58 AM
Great quote, eh? :)

I see your point, Master Toose. But I stand firm. Unfortunately, we'll never know who should emerge victorious. That's a shame; I'd very much like to see such a fight. No gloves, no weapons, no jell-o. :D

Sir Toose
04-10-02, 11:02 AM
No ropes, no camera tricks, no BS.

He may whoop me, but I'd get in a shot or two

firegod
04-10-02, 11:15 AM
When you're talking about a world class grappler who can take a blow real well, yeah, Jet Li would be in trouble. However, you are not a world class grappler who can take professional style blows real well. Jet Li would stomp you into the ground like a secretary bird does a cobra.

Sir Toose

If you're going to take a jab, get yer facts straight. :) I didn't object to anyone fighting Nixon. I said I was surprised and personally wouldn't have chosen him. Of course, you've already labeled this as a purely political decision of mine, so it won't do any good to say otherwise. :) Furthermore, I said "I dunno," not "just because," and in a later post, explained that I'd fight her because she's very obnoxious.

Arthur Dent

Spud: Richard Nixon? Wow. Now there's a surprise. I don't like him either, but I wouldn't want to break the poor bastard's hip, either.

Personally, I don't care whom you choose to hate, or even whom you think deserves to have their skull crushed in. For reasons rational or irrational, it is, after all, YOUR opinion.

That you find Streisand obnoxious enough to physically assault is your own fantasy, and I'll let you have it.

And you'll have to excuse me if I find your defense of Nixon "political." That you think Streisand, who is merely "obnoxious" (according to TWTCommish of Movieforums), deserves to have her hips broken before a criminal like Nixon, is enough to make me wonder where your convictions lie.

Yoda
04-10-02, 05:05 PM
Goodness gracious Art. This thread is a joke. I would not actually punch Barbara Streisand in the face if given the opportunity. I don't want her to die and I don't think she deserves to have her "skull crushed in," as you chose to phrase it.

I also never said I'd pick Streisand over Nixon. See, Streisand was under the "Celebrity" category...Nixon was in another category. Apparently this joke has offended you somehow.

Arthur Dent
04-10-02, 05:15 PM
No. Remember, I thought it was hilarious.

And I never said you wanted to crush anybody's skull in; that was said in the spirit of the thread (hyperbole abounds).

Obviously nobody here would ACTUALLY fight the people they listed, which is why I thought it was funny that you seemed to object to Nixon. Since this thread IS a joke, it seemed almost as if YOU were taking the thread too seriously.

I was just making an observation. I'm not offended, and I didn't mean any offense toward you either. :)

Yoda
04-10-02, 05:18 PM
Well, no offense was taken. I was only surprised...as you seemed, well, p*ssed. :)

I don't really object to Nixon. Just not my bag. He deserves a beating more than Streisand, IMO, but, well, I get to see Streisand's face every other day, whereas Nixon is more someone I read about. So I find it harder to build up a lot of hatred. And yes, it works on both sides of the political spectrum.

Anywhoo, I like the new question quite a bit: who WOULDN'T you fight? (excellent question, Matt)

I'm with him on Tyson. I don't EVER want to come face to face with that dude. Or, in terms of historical figures, Theodore Roosevelt. He'd squash me like a bug.

i would steer clear of O.J. and Mike Tyson, and any (other) psycho rapist or killer.....wouldn't want to get close enough for them fo remember my face.

on the other hand i would put up my dukes against that woman who drowned her kids in the lake and claimed she had been carjacked by some random black dude....susan.....susan smith.
.......... she kills her kids because her lover said he liked her but had no interest in her kids. "lose the kids and we'll talk" .............. so she did! :indifferent: :furious:

along the same lines you could add any child abuser to the fight list.........but this is symbolic of what outrages me.....i wouldn't actually WANT to fight anyone. but i'd help gather them all up and drop them off on an island with like-minded monsters.....let em' all tear each other apart.

Although I rant about Julia and Britney, often, I don't think I could really bring myself to punch them in the face. *I just visualized punching Britney in the face...I kinda liked it.:)

I'm no huge fan of Knowles. Though I give him credit for being an ordinary dude who snuck his way right into Hollywood's elite. After all, that's what I wanna do. :D I'll still buy his book, despite how craptacular his site looks.

I wouldn't fight Gore. He just never pisses me off really. I dunno why. I guess I'm convinced that he's mostly honest and moral and really means well. Could be wrong, but that's the way it feels.

Fight me?! I'd have to bust out my 1337 Jedi powers. If lightsabers aren't allowed, I'd just have some inanimate objects from around the room hurl themselves towards your cranium. It just bugged me that for the first half of his political life he bragged about being from generation upon generation of tobacco farmers and how he supported the industry wholeheartedly. Once he got in office he spun a 180 and started denouncing the industry that put him there. People can say what they want about big tobacco but the truth is it funds a holy hell of a lot. If the lawsuits were ever actaully found in favor of shutting down big tobacco we'd all feel the pinch from it. Smoke 'em if you got 'em!

Osama is a scapegoat. Osama is a trigger who was on the payroll of the US CIA during the Soviet/Afghan war. He is a bastard and deserves to be in that room with PatiSilverhammer going bang bang on his head but he didn't orchestrate this thing himself. Why was there war between the Soviets and the Afghans? Answer this and you will see the connections to 9/11.

I fought a dog the other night. I was really pi$$ed anyways because I got a ticket for speeding and I KNOW the cop tagged the wrong guy. Anyways, I was out for a walk as usual and I've learned to carry a weapon bc people don't keep their dam dogs on leashes. I hollowed out a piece of closet rod and filled it with concrete and I carry that when I walk. Anyways I'm strolling along and I hear Fido growling in the bushes. It's dark and I can't see him... but I know he's there. I walk backwards ... slowly and here he comes charging out of the bushes. Some mid sized mixed breed with a bad attitude. I wound up and when he got close I clocked him flat on the skull. He yelped and staggered away... why don't people keep dogs that bite tied up?

I wanna fight the owner of that dog...

You spelt that wrong. It's "Gandhi"... and he was a great believer in non-violence, so you would have a hard time fighting him! You'd probably get trampled to death by the mob of his followers, though, just trying to reach him!

Django

As for me, I wouldn't fight anyone... I'd just challenge them to a game of racquetball. And if that turned violent, then I'd box with 'em! But I'd rather just work it out on the racquetball court! lol!

Who would YOU fight? They can be alive or dead, a celebrity or non, a historical figure, etc.

Celebrity: Dr. Smith from the TV show, Lost in Space (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_In_Space).

The guy just bugged me.
I hated him.
Whiny, scheming, little wimp.
I would probably resort to hitting him with furniture found on the Jupiter 2.

"Doctor Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Harris)): Doctor Zachary Smith is ostensibly a specialist in environmental and intergalactic psychology, is actually an enemy agent (these roles are dropped early in the series). His attempt to sabotage the mission strands him aboard the Jupiter 2. He begins as sinister, but while never losing his self-serving qualities, he evolves into passive-aggressive, often cowardly and effeminate behavior as comic relief. He frequently trades barbs with the Robot and Major West. He was often portrayed as the typical 'mad scientist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_scientist)' of science fiction comics."

Historical Figure: That guy currently in charge of North Korea.
Whats his name? The current leader is Kim Jong-il (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Jong-il).

http://sp1.yt-thm-a02.yimg.com/image/25/m5/3369421116 (http://www.metacrawler.com/clickserver/_iceUrlFlag=1?rawURL=http%3A%2F%2Fbiografieonline.it%2Fbiografia.htm%3FBioID%3D64%26amp%3Bbiografia% 3DKim%2BJong%2BIl&0=&1=0&4=72.53.194.53&5=207.200.116.204&9=f4996bad47744f4395cf4132c901c901&10=1&11=info.metac&13=search&14=372380&15=main-title&17=3&18=3&19=0&20=0&21=3&22=Pf3dmSq%2FNWo%3D&23=0&40=eIyFlH%2FgjqkpvPxAH1ny8Q%3D%3D&_IceUrl=true)

His clothes are jacked-up more than mine, and I feel he should do more for his people.
I would pummel him with a wiffle bat. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiffle_ball)
