Clever, good acting, but really not that funny.

This movie had a huge ensemble cast, a very good one, but it was just lacking in the funny. Jason Lee was great as always, Rene Russo was the same as she always is along with Tim Allen. Andy Ricter was hilarious!

I only lauged about three times out loud, but there were other people in the theatre who just about died. My dad hated this movie like really really hated it. :furious: :furious: :furious:

This movie is mediocre, and with all the greats out there right now like Death to Smoochy and Panic Room, theres really no reason to see this.

This film must challenge Stepmom for worst title ever.

It just screams "UNINTERESTING"

Big Trouble (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005JKE6.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) is OK, a mildly diverting hour and a half, but ultimately pretty forgettable and not what it should be, given the strong cast.

Plenty of good elements, but they never come together as a whole and everything feels underplayed, despite an over-the-top ultra-convoluted storyline. Zooey Deschanel, who most will recognize as William Miller's older sister from Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous, just about steals the movie. Of course stalwart comic character actors like Stanley Tucci, Dennis Farina, Janeane Garofalo, Jason Lee, Patrick Warburton and Andy Richter all have their moments too, as you'd expect. But unfortunately there's nothing to hang 'em on.

Barry Sonnenfeld does the best he can with the material, but frankly this isn't Get Shorty he was starting with. It's a damn sight better and more coherent than Wild Wild West, but that's not saying much. Most above-average TV sitcoms can run circles around the Wild Wild West debacle. When all is said and done, Big Trouble plays about like a decent episode of a sitcom. But don't we go to the movies for much more than that? I know I do.

Not bad for a daytime matinee if you're expectations are appropriately lowered, but very lightweight and basically a misfire given this talented cast & crew.

Grade: C+

BTW, it's clear why the Studio got nervous and delayed the release of Big Trouble after 9-11-01. It's not so much that a nuclear bomb winds up on a commercial plane that is hijacked, but more I think the depiction of airport security as total morons.

The film is even-handed here though: virtually every character in the film, regardless of profession, is a moron.
