Glorious! The time is here once again! I am so excited I think I may have peed myself a little. Ewwww...
The Season officially kicks off this Thursday and I can't wait! Well, I have to wait but I can't wait! Nah mean? Yeah.
We have a lot of pretty evenly matched teams going this year and it will be a lot fun to see how this season shakes out.
Who's got the nerve to make some boastful predictions before this thing gets kicked off in earnest?
Since I'm starting the thread how about I go first M'kay?
I predict that several teams will win some of their games and on the flipside several others will in turn lose some games. Bold, I know. I call it like I see it.
Seriously though, I fully intend to make a run back to MoFo bowl II this season and I will lie, cheat and steal to get back there if I have to. ;)
That being said I think I should be able to get past Team Darcy in my week 1 matchup. I hope. A quick start is always a good thing yeah? :)
Next up is an interesting one.
Slug's Sweeties vs. Gadsden Flag
I think Slug's team looks fantastic on paper and may be one of the teams to beat all year as long as his RB's stay healthy and yet Yahoo has Gadsden slightly ahead.
My pick: Sweeties
TONGO vs. I-Love Megan Fox
I think Yahoo may be over valuing a few of the players in this game as well. Bobby's team looks pretty well balanced while TONGO's team still appears to have some running back issues. We'll see.
My pick: I-Love Megan Fox
11 Angry Men vs. DaBears
The reigning Champ and our own site Administrator will have a tough road back to the big game this year with the likes of Cedric Benson as his number 2 RB. That being said he does have arguably the very best QB and a top flight WR1 on his team so it may turn out he won't need 30 points a week from any of his RB's. DaBears team looks pretty solid but they also look a little limited in a few spots. I think Yahoo has this one pegged, close game but...
My pick: 11 angry Men
The Tateraters vs. Beantown Champs
No offense Spudly but I kind of think your team is going to be pretty bad. Maybe. I hope you have a few great waiver wire pick ups planned later in the season when you decide to dump Ocho Stinko after week 2 :p.
My pick: Beantown in a rout.
The Replicants vs. Hired Goons
After having fun picking on the Goons for inexpicably taking Aaron Rodgers with the very first pick of this years draft he did settle down and have himself a nice little team by the end. Whether or not he pays attention to his roster or not is going to be the real question. Already we are under a week away from the season and he still has Lynch in his lineup who, umm, is suspeneded for the first three games. Seds, being the savy owner he is has already slotted in his replacement, Fred Jackson and will most likely see some decent numbers in week 1 given that The Pats just traded away one of their Pro Bowl Lineman to the Raiders.
My pick: The Replicants
Wolverines vs. Flash
Sedai's protege and "special lady friend" looks like a strong early contender for the newly annouced (just now) category of newbie of the year. She made some very savy moves on draft day and has a real solid looking team. I do think however that Yahoo may be selling some of Flashes players a little short and the score should be closer than they have it right now.
My pick: Wolverines
So there you have it MoFo's. Good luck to all and please feel free to let the trash talk flow or just make some early predictions on how your season or someone elses will go. Profanity is encouraged as long as no Mothers are involved. We fantasy footballers love our Mother's.

I am really excited also, nice overview.
Slug's Sweeties vs. Gadsden Flag
I think Slug's team looks fantastic on paper and may be one of the teams to beat all year as long as his RB's stay healthy and yet Yahoo has Gadsden slightly ahead.
My pick: Sweeties
I have to agree with PW as Slugs team shouldnt have been called the Sweeties but the Studleys. His QB, WRs, and RBs are top tier, and this year only a handfull of us can make that claim. Slug wouldnt you like to have Brett Favre again?! PM me ;)
Winner - Slug
TONGO vs. I-Love Megan Fox
I think Yahoo may be over valuing a few of the players in this game as well. Bobby's team looks pretty well balanced while TONGO's team still appears to have some running back issues. (Yeah no s**t I could cry!) We'll see.
My pick: I-Love Megan Fox
Aw hell naw! I might be fantasy challenged but Ill win! Megans going down and not in a way Id like her too. Bottom line I like my top three players more than his, know I have him beat in the kicker & defense, and so feel the RBs wont make up the difference.
Winner - TONGO
11 Angry Men vs. DaBears
The reigning Champ and our own site Administrator will have a tough road back to the big game this year with the likes of Cedric Benson as his number 2 RB. That being said he does have arguably the very best QB and a top flight WR1 on his team so it may turn out he won't need 30 points a week from any of his RB's. DaBears team looks pretty solid but they also look a little limited in a few spots. I think Yahoo has this one pegged, close game but...
My pick: 11 angry Men
Yeah I agree. Chris has an impressive lot of players even moreso than last year. He will be one of the top 3 tough teams this season imo.
Winner - Yodas 11 Angry Men
The Tateraters vs. Beantown Champs
No offense Spudly but I kind of think your team is going to be pretty bad. Maybe. I hope you have a few great waiver wire pick ups planned later in the season when you decide to dump Ocho Stinko after week 2 :p.
My pick: Beantown in a rout.
Rashard Mendenhall?! I thought I had RB problems.
Winner - Beantown.
The Replicants vs. Hired Goons
After having fun picking on the Goons for inexpicably taking Aaron Rodgers with the very first pick of this years draft he did settle down and have himself a nice little team by the end. Whether or not he pays attention to his roster or not is going to be the real question. My pick: The Replicants
I disagree. This will be the upset win of the week with Hired Goons victorious. I dont like the row of opponents Replicants have to play against compared to Goons.
Winner - Hired Goons
Wolverines vs. Flash
Sedai's protege and "special lady friend" looks like a strong early contender for the newly annouced (just now) category of newbie of the year. She made some very savy moves on draft day and has a real solid looking team. I do think however that Yahoo may be selling some of Flashes players a little short and the score should be closer than they have it right now.
My pick: Wolverines
LOL! Wow do I disagree! Flash is sporting Peyton Manning, Jamal Lewis, and Tony Gonzalez. Wolverines have Cutler as QB and hes green as hell, Randy Moss isnt the only go-to-guy in New England, and other than a NY Giants D Im underwhelmed with the rest. Now that Ive said all that Ive guaranteed the Wolverines to be in the MoFo Super Fantasy Bowl Thingy at the end.
Winner - Flash
Too bad we couldnt do a MoFo Fantasy Football Pool
Any interested parties please pm me ;)
I am def' a hedge kinda guy and I might not pull out the most wins, but if I can get to the playoffs I think I have a go.
My picks w/o fanfare ;):
Sweeties
TONGO
11 angry Men
The Replicants
Flash
Beantown Champs
I wouldn't really trust any perceived edge in kicker and/or defense. Kicker is impossible to predict from year to year, let alone game to game, and even the league's best defenses (and Baltimore is probably more like top 5-6) only score a few more points per week than the worst (of those that are owned, that is). Neither can really be counted on to make up any kind of deficit at the skill positions.
I'll respectfully disagree about Schaub, as well. He certainly could be top-tier, but he hasn't been yet. Disagree about Cutler, too; he's played almost two and a half seasons, and it's not like anyone's calling Aaron Rodgers green, even though that's one of his team's colors. ;)
But I agree with the general assessment of most of the teams. Bobby's got a really all-around solid squad. Slug is all about injuries: if Westbrook and Schaub stay healthy enough to play, say, about 14 games each, he's looking very dangerous.
Really stunning to see how many solid rosters there are, at least on paper. Of course, 2-3 weeks in things are going to look awfully different, I think, but we're heading into the season with a whole mess of teams who could plausibly make a run.
I shouldnt be scared, but I am. Last year I would have been in the big bowl for sure if Orton and Schaub werent knocked out of the season on the same day. Then alls I had was Adrian Peterson, and that Roddy White guy.
Dont underestimate how steady defense and kickers give points. WR and RBs fluctuate more, but Yoda's right theyre 4th priority. Tight ends?! Wow what a never talked about position in fantasy football. I guess the same value as kickers and defense.
Anyway Im terrified and really really really hope Brady hasnt lost his touch. I cant believe Bradys my QB. Ive written long posts of flame about that dude over the years. Even found a website one time called I hate brady dot com. To whoever watches Entourage I feel like Turtle did, being a New York Giants fan when having to play golf with Brady. I was a Raiders fan, but lately liked the Colts. The Patriots are just no good. I hope Brady does a Drew Brees like last year and be top point earner without going to the show.
Well, last year you would've needed two more wins; you were 8-6, and two playoff teams were 9-5, but both would've won the tiebreaker by having significantly more points scored. I can't check any more than that, though, as the league doesn't save the highly specific week-by-week breakdowns. Bummer.
Re: defense/kickers. Honestly, I think they're lower than 4th priority. They're less important than even your first group of backups. There are two reasons: a small difference between the best and the worst, and the impossibility of picking who the best are, anyway. Example of the first: last year the #1 ranked kicker scored less than two more points per game than the #14 ranked kicker. Example of the second: of the top ten kickers in 2007, only four of them made the top ten again in 2008. It's a crapshoot, and the reward for guessing right is extremely small.
EDIT: similar numbers for defenses. Five of the top ten in 2007 didn't return to the top ten in 2008. Baltimore was #1 last year (under this year's scoring), but 29th the year before. San Diego was the consensus #1 defensive pick last season, but finished 30th. The difference between the #1 defense and the #14 defense each of the last few years is somewhere around 4 points per game.
So, WRs and RBs do indeed fluctuate more, but that's precisely the point: kickers and defenses all tend to fall into the same range (relatively speaking), so which you take doesn't matter as much.
Tight end is just as important as any other position, really, because the value there still fluctuates plenty. The top tight end last year scored almost 9 more points per game than the 14th best, which is a huge difference. In other words, the difference between getting the best tight end, and the worst starting tight end, figures to be 3 points higher than the difference between best/worst kicker and best/worst defense combined.
This year there's plenty of interesting mid-range tight ends out there, but that's generally just an argument for either snagging one of the top three or four, or else waiting until the 10th or so, because there's a lot of potential similarity between 5th and 10th this year.
Well, preseason depth charts don't normally mean much, but for what it's worth Cadillac Williams is listed at #1 for Tampa Bay. I don't think Williams is terribly attractive, but this certainly isn't good news for Derrick Ward, who I've been counting on for a strong season.
Hard to say what kind of impact this might have. TB had been saying that they wanted a 2-2-1 split (two series for one back, two series for the next, and then one series for the third back), and if that's true than it doesn't necessarily matter much who's first and who's second. That said, I'd obviously still prefer it the other way around.
Ward represents a significant financial investment on the part of the Bucs, though, and put up fantastic numbers in a time share with Brandon Jacobs last season, so I still think he's going to emerge as the best choice out of the TB backfield. Throw in the fact that Williams has recovered surprisingly quickly and has had season-killing surgeries in consecutive years, and I still feel pretty good about Ward. It just might take a few weeks for things to shake out in Tampa.
Anyway, this just adds to what I expect will be the general chaos of the first few weeks. By week 4, I expect to have a much better handle on my team, and that's probably true for all the other owners, too. It's going to be insane for the first couple of weeks, though; lots of duds in the lineup and lots of points on the benches, I expect.

Well here are my breakdowns of week ones match-ups:
Beantown Champs (me) vs. The Tateraters -
I think this game will be much closer than Yahoo predicts. Our QB match-up is nearly a wash, and Taters WRs are much better than mine, so he takes me there hands down. I think I'll edge out the RBs slots and I think thats where the score will go in my favor.
Beantown by an inch.
11 Angry Men vs. Da Bears -
This is going to be a QB shoot-out! There is potential for HUGE numbers by these guys this week, since they're both playing weak Ds, so Brees should get 2-4 TDs and 340+ yards and Rivers should have 2 TDs and 290-320 yards, so it looks like a potential wash. The WRs slots goes to Angry Men by a mile, no question. Unfortunately for Angry, Da Bears has the RBs slots locked down. By a very wide margin. I think too wide for Angry to catch up with the TE slot (Witten is a GOD!) or any of the remaining positions.
Da Bears by a yard
Hired Goons vs. The Replicants -
I think this match-up can be summed up at one position. The "swing slot". Fred Jackson may be the difference.
The Replicants by a yard. Or two
Gadsden Flag vs. Slug's Sweeties -
I think Gadsden will be the team to beat this year. He definitely has the best RB 1-2 punch in the league (as of now...) and I think he will cruise along most of the season on AP and Barber alone.
Gadsden Flag by a few field goals.
Flash vs. Wolverines -
Ok, Peyton Manning is gonna go off. Big. Like HUGE. I think he may have a 4 TD day. Like 420 yards. And he is gonna hook-up with Clark for at least one. And Gonzalez will net 100 yrds receiving and maybe a TD. Flash has to hope that will be enough to overtake the Wolverines. Moss and Forte will create major points for the Wolverines and Cutler should provide ample numbers. If Braylon Edwards and Kevin Smith step-up, then its lights out for the Flash.
Flash by half an inch
PW's Odd Squad vs. Team Darcy -
PW has an edge at almost all of the positional match-ups and should win this as predicted by Yahoo, but Team Darcy shouldn't be counted out. Darcy could get lucky and squeak by at the last second.
PW by a country mile
TONGO vs. I-Love-Megan-Fox -
Well since I'm going to the Patriots season opener and plan on seeing a complete and utter massacre of the Bills, I'm predicting Brady is gonna come out slinging. He may make an example of the Bills to the tune of 4-5 TDs and 400+ yards. And TONGO's WR combo is really good and will score alot of points for his team this week, probably enough combined with Brady to win this week. But with glaring holes at the RB slots, Fox could overtake TONGO with a group effort from Tony Romo, LT and Jacobs. Romo and LT should hit it big this week and Jacobs will get a TD and 80 yards. But TONGO has Brady and that will be enough.
TONGO by a TouchDown
Good luck to everyone!! ;)

Good stuff, Piledriver.
I think Tongo's losing it. He cut and resigned Matt Jones twice today. Does he get better every time you resign him or what?

 Yeah well -ahem- Jones is being courted by Tennessee, and they dont have any strong WRs. Feels like a good thing, BUT he hasnt signed. Heck hes just scheduled to work out with them. Either this is the early bird catching the worm, maybe the early bird digging for a worm, or Im just stupid. He had a good season so Id be suprised if he is unemployed this year. Im sure Ill second guess myself again.

How is it possible that Crabtree is still holding out and he is owned by 65% of the people on Yahoo. Someone please explain to me how this guy is going to be good?
This guy reeks of being the next Ocho Stinko.

This guy reeks of being the next Ocho Stinko. He is suppose to be awesome. The main reason people probably own him is if they are in a keeper league. If he had a good season or gave his owners a glimpse of what he can do, he would be a good keeper that you would only lose like a 10th round pick for.

I guess I'm the underdog, in which case, I'm voting for myself. :D
ESPN's Week 1 projections (http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/tools/projections?&scoringPeriodId=1) came out today. They've got Drew Brees at #1 and Marques Colston at #2. Boy, do I hope they're right. The point estimates don't include points for receptions and assumes only 4 points for a TD pass, by the by.
Snagged Mike Bell yesterday, too, given that Pierre Thomas might not play the first game. I might have three Saints playing. It gives me a bit of a ceiling on points given that they're all on the same squad, but a pretty sturdy floor, too. I don't know if I mind having all my eggs in one basket when that basket is playing Detroit. Hell, an actual basket would probably be a 3-1 favorite against the Lions. Oh my.
Regardless, the agonizing may now commence. I've got four backs I can make a good case for in my two starting RB slots (D. Ward, Benson, Bell, and Hightower), and another (Jonathan Stewart) who's worth playing if he's healthy. I always hate having to make these sorts of choices, but my hope is that I'll only have to play this guessing game for a few weeks, by which time I should be able to rule at least one of those guys in, and at least one of them out. 'Course, guys like James Davis and LeSean McCoy (I've only got one non-RB on my bench) could emerge to make things more complicated by then. Oy.
Oh well. This is the path I have chosen, and adding Hightower, Stewart, and Bell in the last week has made me feel a lot better about the chances of it working.
Not sure about that list... Am I supposed to believe that Lawrence Tynes, the kicker, will score the same as L Fitzgerald, Michael Turner, Brian Westbrook, and Andre Johnson?
I highly, highly doubt it. ;)
Well, remember, it doesn't include points per reception. Add that in and all those guys (and then some) rank ahead of him.
That said, I figure there will be some kicker this week that puts up 14-15 points or so. Dunno if it'll be Tynes.

Yeah playing the Lions Id put Brees over everyone too. Not a bad spot to be in for week 1. Btw you have guts trading Santana Moss for Willie Parker. Yoda please teach me the ways of ettiquette cause I couldnt make trading leeway waving Roddy White, Smith, or Favre. Youre about top close on your second deal. OI Wtf?! Am I Al Davis or something?!
Just grabbed Fred Taylor and dropped Mewelde. Waiver wait on that. Picked up Chris Brown and Andre Davis from Houston, and dropped Matt Jones (shut up pw) + Antwan El Randle. The biggest reason I chose who I did was on how much money they make. Dont laugh alot of the ones I grabbed if not all are one year deals. Big fat checks mean fieldtime is all Im saying cause they dont pay them those one year deals to develop them as players.
.
Btw you have guts trading Santana Moss for Willie Parker.
It's not something I'd normally do; I like Moss about the same as Parker in a "normal" league, and I like him more in a PPR league. But I need to add another, more potentially reliable back into my big ol' mix, and given that I have Cotchery sitting on the bench, anyway, it's a good fit.
Unless one of my receivers goes down, that is. Or 2-3 of my sleeper backs pan out, which is a problem I wouldn't mind having.

Nah. I can't speak much on whatever other offers you might've tossed out there (thought I really wouldn't expect any speculative value on Favre), but I thought the Roddy White/LenDale White for Portis/C. Williams deal was a good offer.

Hee hee, the tumultuous fantasy career of Matt Jones continues. This must qualify as cruel and unusual.
Taylor could be a good pickup. I wouldn't have dropped him if I didn't like the guy I was replacing him with so much.

This is freakin' trick! Anyone else log onto Stattracker yet? Very cool. We can chat back and forth on it and it looks absolutely dynamite! You can also flick between your other teams if you have more than one. Like myself for instance. I went a little over board and joined several leagues this season. Cool stuff!
Didn't even think to check the new StatTracker...
Wow! Very impressive. It's lagging a little for me (probably because there's so much going on), but I'm guessing it's just being used a ton right now, and it's still quite new.
Very cool improvements, especially considering it's free now.

I don't mean to be a nudge to Yoda but Cadillac Williams gets the start for Tampa on Sunday. Not sure, if this has been mentioned.
http://mvn.com/footbasket/2009/09/cadillac-williams-named-starting-running-back-for-bucs.html
Oh boy! The seasons officially started with Tennesssee and Pittsburgh! The good news is I was smart enough to bench Lendale White & Mewelde Moore who combined dont have 10 points. The bad news is I Love Megan Fox has almost 38 points from the Tennessee Def and Pitts Willie Parker. The weekly angst has begun.
I agree PW that the stattracker is the shiznit (wow im white) also joined two other leagues. One on NFL, and another on Yahoo. Both teams rock too, heck I have Drew Brees in my other Yahoo. I found from this and last year the other teams and leagues pale in comparison to holding my interest. Bottom line Id drop Brees and my other teams star for one good RB on my MoFo team.
Hmmm? Can I be league commisioner Yoda? Just for a day!

Scroll down to the bottom of the stattracker T and you can chat live during the games. How cool is that? Very, I says.
What a great game - fantasy stuff or not ;). I could not ask for much more on my Def points. Granted had I played Miller I would be better off, but hey lets see how it goes. Moore was amazing as was Ben. Yeah the final score does not look that impressive, but the Steelers did what they had to do win the game. Ward extended the game when not taking a knee, but who can blame him. (I can ) What an exciting start to the season. Congrats to Meg.
That new stattrackers really sweet. Makes spending $10 last year worth it. Like the chat though when more than 2 chat it doesnt come thru and mssgs get crossed. At least with me it did. Bobby B you got near 43 pts! Great game to start off the season.

http://mvn.com/footbasket/2009/09/cadillac-williams-named-starting-running-back-for-bucs.html
Aye, I mentioned it in another thread. Before Williams was named the starter, Tampa claimed they were going with a 2-2-1 system where the first back would play two series, the second would play two, and the third would play one. If that's true, then technically Ward's playing time should be about the same as it would be if he was starting, but we'll see. The main thing will be whether or not they stick to that distribution system.
Anyway, I've got two better starts this week anyway, so I can wait and see how it shakes out. Williams has a lot of trouble staying healthy so it's possible Ward could be disappointing for a few weeks before taking on the majority of the carries. I guess we'll find out. :) Not a promising start, though, to be sure.

Totally agree with ya, TONGO! Tonight's game was a good one.
Tater you did good! You got a nice sum of points from Ben. I actually hope you win since nobody thinks youve a chance in hell. :)
I havent even checked my other two leagues. :p It does help intrest when playing with folks you somewhat know.
Agreed. I have a second league with my friend Adam and a bunch of strangers, because it gives us something to talk about and it seems silly to do a bunch of mock drafts and only one real one. :) But the best leagues are always ones where people know each other. Changes the whole thing, and is far more fun.
Anyway, solid numbers for Spud outta Ben, even with that meaningless INT to end the first half. Could've been a big game if he'd squeezed out one more TD, but I'm sure Spud'll take it.
Meanwhile, my future Willie Parker trade's off to a rough start already.
I'm very excited to see what Brees, Johnson, and Colston can do on Sunday. Should be a ton of fun.

Hey, all that matters in the end is that big "W." :D
TONGO - Your opponent has Santonio Holmes, not Willie Parker. Holmes had a huge game; I think it might actually be his best fantasy game yet. PArker and the rest of the Pitt running game looked awful. Ben looked better, though.
The Titans are going to be tough. Once the WRs start clicking, that will be a team to contend with this season. I still think they lost because of that series that had the penalty followed by a dropped pass by Gage...
Overall, a fun start to the season!
Now, can some of my players play, please? :D
Oh - Savvy owners should have spotted a possible add on the titans, by the by. I won't say who it is, but the rookie had a really solid game, and could develop into a reliable source of points each week...The depth of our league requires some risks to be taken, and this kid might be worth it...
As an aside, I did another draft in a 10 team league with several players that apparently don't follow fantasy football. I got a ridiculous team (on paper). I got 3 first round ranked players in rounds 1-3, snagging an elite QB in the fourth... I then proceeded to build crazy depth at both RB and WR. People were picking defenses and kickers with players like Lance Moore and Anthony Gonzalez still available...
It's such a fine line; on one hand we kinda all want the other owners to screw up, but if it's completely absurd it's not much fun, either. Which three did you get, by the way?
Matt Forte, Steve Slaton, Andre Johnson
Good grief. You better win that thing.
I mostly just hope you win (or come very close) because, if you don't, then I'll be forced to concede that fantasy football is largely a game of chance, and I simply don't want that to be true.
Yeah, barring a few injuries that take out all the studs, these guys should perform quite well. Meanwhile, My back-ups are all good too (Ray Rice/Lance Moore/Anthony Gonzalez/J Finley etc), so I think I would still do OK. The scoring is different, with a standard 3 WR set and no swing slot, with no PPR.
I had more fun in the MoFo league last year, anyway, so this one is just sort of there as an aside, for pretty much the reasons you mentioned above about knowing everyone making it more fun. I just know one other person in the standard league.

In a few hours, Week 1 Fantasy Football will get underway and the excitement will start. Will anyone go down in the first quarter ala Tom Brady last season? Will that player you drafted a tad higher than expected (*cough* Aaron Rogers *cough*) turn out to be a Fantasy Stud or Instant Dud? Is my RB tandem gonna make up for my WR fluff? We shall soon see... Our dreams and hopes are riding on the shoulders of the Gridiron Gladiators, and we wait with baited breath to see if all our planning and effort will pay off on this glorious Sunday afternoon! Good Luck to everyone!!!! :D
So this guy walks into a bar. Hes happy and giddy then orders everyone drinks in the bar. They all have a good time then they ask why hes in a good mood. He says "Im married to this mean bitch. She nags, spends my money, and only sleeps with me once a year. Im constantly stressed, broke, and have blue balls." They look art this guy in a mix of pity and horror then one guy asks "Why was it you're in a good mood again?!". He says "Cause todays the day boys! Todays the day!"
Seriously Ive waited for this day with more anticipation than christmas. :)
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!!!! :p
I am ready for some football.
For some reason, Yahoo isn't letting me use Stat Tracker today :( I have checked it 10 times leading up to today, and I use it for baseball, but this morning, it keeps telling me I have to purchase it to use it.
Bummer
Correction - It is telling me I don't have any teams, and I need to sign up for one to use Stat Tracker. I have multiple teams, so his is bogus, of course. Baseball Stat Tracker is working fine.
Yes - I am signed in... Don't even go there. ;)
May we all have a V I C T O R I O U S fantasy football day!!!!! :)

Its working fine for me Seds. Try again maybe it was glitched.
Almost time! :)
Just heard that James Davis was in a minor car accident on his way to the game! Should be fine, though. Crazy.
Pierre Thomas is out, which means Mike Bell's starting for me today. Last-minute decision between Moss and Cotchery in the Flex spot, leaning towards Cotchery because of the matchups (Houston instead of the Giants).
WBadger: looks like you have Kevin Walter in your Flex spot, but he's inactive today. Less than an hour; don't forget to swap him out! :)

I read somewhere that Moss wasn't going to play today. That may have changed though.

Nice Bell pickup btw Yods, I just grabbed him in another league and am starting him over Hightower. I don't really know what my deal is (other than I hate the Cardinals) but any excuse not to play him and I sub him out. Probably gonna cut him in that league or trade him as well.
Bell is a great play today, unless Detroit's Def has improved drastically. I am hoping for a shoot out, personally.
I am ticked about the Stat Tracker thing. Baseball is working fine, but still no go on the Football...
I can track the various games, but it insists I have no fantasy teams to list, and it wants me to create a team. Not being able to follow the scoring live will take pretty much all the excitement out of it for me, so this better rectify itself, and fast.

That really sucks Mike. I hope it starts working for you. They have a chat room at the bottom of the screen now during the games. Try beating your computer with something heavy.
Gahhhh. Leaning towards Cotchery over Moss based on the defensive matchup, but good grief, he's got a rookie QB throwing to him. I really hope this doesn't end up killing me. ;)
WBadger: don't forgot to swap out Walter!
It's Firefox - I got it working on IE, which I can't STAND using, as it is such a bad piece of software...but I need my stats...so I am using it!
See you cats in chat!
I do have my Firefox set up with lots of Add-ons for my design work (Cooliris etc.) so that may be a factor. Damn IE is slow in comparison, though...
Really glad you got it worked out; was just about to suggest a browser switch.
I'll still be posting here throughout the day, I think, since I like reading it later and the chat box is so tiny. But I'll see ya'll in both.
I actually don't see a chat box anywhere. It must be REALLY tiny. ;)
Bottom-right. It is quite small, yes.
We're underway! D. Williams has 9 rushing yards already, and just like that, a season of worrying begins.

I feel the same way about Tom Brady. If he ends up being what he was in 2007 Ill be tough and feel guilty having to pilot fish from one Ive disdained. Sigh! I hope Favre works out.
See everyone in chat!
Yahoo's having a little bit of a time coping with the rush of users, I think. Lots of stuff not showing up on their tracker right away, if ESPN is to be believed. ESPN seems to think Brees has already thrown a TD to Colston...please be true!
Less than six minutes of game time into the 2009 NFL season, and Drew Brees already has two touchdown passes.

That doesn't suck.
This is true, but Andre Johnson has gone an entire quarter without a catch. Naturally, I'm completely freaking out.
Yahoo catching up, but still a little wonky.

Brandon Marshall is already making a very strong case to be this season's Ocho Stinko.
Neither of us have any sort of chat window in Stat Tracker - It's just not there. My res is cranked up to 1920x1080, so I doubt that is it.
NO is having a big day...but Detroit is actually hanging in there... Detroit WILL be better this year, for sure.
They'll be better because they can't possibly be any worse unless/until the NFL season expands to 18 games. ;) But I agree, they might not be horrendous.
Re: chat box. Hmm. Maybe it's collapsed? Look for a tiny circle with a plus sign in it in the far bottom-right. Mine's expanded by default, but maybe yours isn't.

Check this Mike, if you can't see a 'Movie Forums Fantasy Football Talk' box at the bottom right hand corner it may have gotten minimized. There may be a very small circle almost completely hidden by the side of the stattracker window. I had to maximize my stattracker window itself before I could even see it. The button you hit is very small, its a circle with a little - in it.
Brees is just going OFF today. Tossed another to Shockey a few min ago...
GOt the chat working - It was actually a ll triangle I had to click that said TALK next to it in big letters. You know, right there in front of me. ;)
Drew Brees just threw his fourth TD in the first half and, surprisingly, his second to Jeremy Shockey (!). PW's gotta be thrilled with the production he's getting out of the TE slot so far.
EDIT: beat me to it! :)
Lions aren't rolling completely over, though; they've put up 10 points and looked respectable. Hopefully they'll keep scoring, because I don't want the Saints taking out starters or running out the clock.
What an asswhippin Im taking. Ravens werent worth 5 points, Mewelde Moores my top RB with almost 8 points, and he was on the bench. Steve Smith was shut down, and not even Tom Brady can make up the difference monday. My only condolence is Megan Fox still has some players left to play, and might be the highest scorer of the week when its all over. Siiiiiiigh oh well!
Nah, both your starting RBs outscored Moore, but not by much.
But yeah, just a bad week, not much to do about it. Usually Smith and White are going to each put up as many points as they did combined this time. Pretty flukey that neither of them did much.
Yeah I was just running back to edit that out but you beat me to the punch. I was also gonna retract about Megan Fox being the #1 point scorer this week as that will belong to you oh humble Yoda.
Looks like it might end up that way. Big thanks to Mr. Drew Brees there, who threw 6 TDs (!) and could've easily thrown another one or two.
Some other freaky stuff: The Cedric Benson Experiment gets off to a rousing start as he gets 21 of their 24 rushes, catches a few passes and finishes with just over 100 total yards and a TD. As is to be expected, Benson still averaged less than 4 YPC, but if he gets 20-25 touches a game he should be a decent, steady options against most opponents.
Mike Bell was both brilliant and frustrating, racking up 143 yards, but not catching any passes or scoring any TDs, and losing a fumble. 143 yards = 12.3 points. Terrific performance, but only decent fantasy numbers. The interesting thing will be to see a) when P. Thomas comes back, and b) if this game earns Bell a share of some of the carries when he does.
Couldn't be much happier with how all my backup backs performed. Ward had one less carry (but one more touch) than Cadillac Williams and put up 16 points, Hightower has the same point total and 7 catches already at halftime, and Jonathan Stewart was so-so, but played a fair bit. Really encouraging, but it's going to make for a big mish-mash of potential starters next week, particularly if the Bell/Thomas thing is unclear. Guess it's gonna be all about matchups again.
Wow, looks like The Replicants (Seds) and the Hired Goones (WBadger) might go down to the wire; Replicants up 20, but the Hird Goons have A. Rodgers and B. Marshall going tonight, as well as their kicker and G. Olsen. Replicants have SD's kicker and defense tomorrow, along with Vincent Jackson. This could be awfully close. Failing to sit Kevin Walter might end up being the difference. Particularly if WBadger's next option would've been D. Henderson, who put up 20 points on the bench.
The Tateraters (Spud) and the Beantown Champs (Piledriver) might have a close one, too. Spud's down just 6 points and has the Arizona defense and J. Jones with another quarter of so, but assuming they don't put up much more, he'll just need Terrell Owens to outscore Piledriver's Packers D by 6 (or less), which seems quite possible. F. Gore and S. Jackson still have some time on the clock, though, to, so we'll see.
Things are looking good for LT; she's down 17, but Flash's team is just about done playing and she's still got Cutler, R. Moss, and Forte. One could get hurt and the other could put up sub-par numbers and it'd still likely be enough to put her over the top.
PW could have a big deficit to make up on Mrs. Darcy, as she got big days out of Hasselbeck and R. Wayne. She's up about 40 points right now with D. Sproles and her kicker left to go, but PW still has W. Welker and D. McFadden. If Fitzgerald or Warner can score a bit more before their game ends, he could be looking at a very managable total heading into tomorrow's games.

Barring someone getting totally hosed, this is over and I bow to my opponent. No excuses (Gonz leaving early), no reason to whine ( Manning was sub par) just a congratulations ( you lucky mortal): well played Wolvie's, well played (lucky SOB).
;)
Not sure about that list... Am I supposed to believe that Lawrence Tynes, the kicker, will score the same as L Fitzgerald, Michael Turner, Brian Westbrook, and Andre Johnson?
I highly, highly doubt it. ;)
Well, you're right, but only just barely! ;) Under standard scoring (no PPR), Tynes outscored Turner, and Johnson easily, and was less than 2 points behind Westbrook and Fitzgerald.

Ugh, I'm rather upset with my team. I might be looking to make some trades.

I dont think anyone wants any part of the misery which makes up my team. Tom Brady might top the boards tomorrow, but it wont matter a damn. The suckage was strong on team TONGO today, but its still pretty cool to see 14 people in and most of them posting. Just wish I was in the spotlight rather than in the other teams highlight reel.

Yeah, I was pretty busy today so I wasn't able to get on. I'm going to give my team another week to possibly redeem themselves, but I'm already seeing a few that need to go.
I actually like my team, and it sucked badly today. All I know is that if you are playing against Detroit, you will get lots of points. ;)
Ok...clearly there was some cheating going on in Green Bay last night by one Mr. Greg Jennings. How else can one explain the fact that I am behind? ;)
Come on Monday Night Talent!
Ok I have two words for you all JAY CUTLER.....what the heck?

Tell me about it. I'm already looking forward to throwing a temper-tantrum when Brees fails to put up 48 points next week. The Lions will spoil you, my friends.
Looks like Bobby'll probably end up being the week's top scorer. I'm just 13 points ahead of him and he's still got Tomlinson going tonight against Oakland! Well done, Bobby.
Anyway, there are a few series' still up in the air, either realistically or just semi-plausibly:
The Replicants (Sedai) and Hired Goons (WBadger)
Sedai's down just 30 points, and he's got Vincent Jackson, Fred Jackson (no relation), and San Diego's defense and kicker (Nate Kaeding) still to go. For what it's worth, Yahoo projects these players to combine for about 46 points. I think he'll pull this one out, which means that Kevin Walter start despite his inactivity could be the difference, particularly if D. Henderson (who put up 20 or so yesterday) would've been Badger's next choice.
PW's Odd Squad (PW) and Team Darcy (Mrs. Darcy)
The two teams with the least need of their usernames in parentheses. Darcy has a big lead (37 points) and still has D. Sproles going tonight, but PW has Wes Welker and D. McFadden going. Far from over, particularly with Welker in a PPR league.
11 Angry Men (Yoda) and Da Bears (mikeython1)
I'm in pretty good shape, up just under 37 points, but Mikey's still got Phillip Rivers going tonight. Rivers would have to put up something like 350 yards passing and 4 TDs (more, if he commits any turnovers), but it's certainly not impossible.
Good luck tonight guys! Very exciting first week that, as always, proves that none of us knows anything at all.
Just noticed that Yahoo nailed Pete's score:
Projected: 119.39
Actual: 119.36

Yoda, you make me feel so guilty. :p
I was expressing sympathy for the Walter thing more than I was trying to inflict any guilt. :) But it ended up being a moot point, as Seds put up enough points on Monday that even playing Henderson wouldn't have made the difference.
I managed to hold on, as Rivers had a pretty poor game, and PW pulled closer for a bit, but McFadden didn't get in the end zone and Sproles scored late, anyway, so Darcy hangs on for the win.
Heckuva first week.
