Hi,

Everybody heere has heared about all the 2012 fuzz and that the end of the world is near and stuff, what do you think is true? I don't know a lot about why and how the world is supposed to end in 2012, but appearantly even scientists are in on this one.

I find it personally hard to believe that in 3 years the world or mankind will be destroyed. I really hope nothing will happen, and personally, I don't think anything will happen just because a few indians have a codex that says so. I just hope that soon we will make contact with friendly aliens who will save us all and give us a better life.

What do you believe? If someone can also explain what is supposed to happen on 21/12/'12, please explain. Saw some stuff on the internet, but I didn't understand it.

So, tell us what you think!

I will, I will

But in all seriousness, who knows? I haven't looked into it too much. It doesn't bear much thinking about.

Hell, I go through every day half-expecting the universe to collapse and all matter to cease existing.

Disaster will occur in the form of a movie aptly titled 2012.

Hoho, I see what you did there.

So ehm. Why is the world ending again? Because the numbers kinda look alike?

Iroquois
08-31-09, 10:58 AM
I think it's because the Mayan calender runs out on that exact date. The logic is that since the calendar runs out completely, it marks the end of time. Since time no longer exists, it stands to reason that there isn't a world left for it where it can exist - hence why the world will stop existing.

Admittedly, it sounds ridiculous when you put it that way, but you never know.

KasperKristensen
08-31-09, 11:01 AM
No you never know, but if that's the reasoning then it could might as well be 15 minutes from now. You know, I think the world is going to end in 15 minutes...
Because I just made a calendar that ends in 15 minutes... 14.

Like I said earlier, I half-expect the world to end every day. Existentialism rules.

This is just like new year's 2000. The world was going to end at the stroke of midnight. Yet, we're still here.

Why do people even worry about this stuff? If and when the world ends, you're going to end with it (if you're still alive to see it). It's not like you can escape it.

KasperKristensen
08-31-09, 11:12 AM
What are you gonna do? Round numbers are dangerous! A number with a lot of the same numbers is dangerous! The number 666 is dangerous! And for some reason the number 23 is dangerous!
Oh and Obama is of course the devil.

we're just a though bunch of creatures to destroy, everytime something tries to break us down, we keep crawling back!

Iroquois
08-31-09, 11:12 AM
Because it's human nature to worry.

Idd, I think it's ok if we all die together, now let's hope there is no God, or else we're screwed (most of us)

Yeah, alright.

You can trust me. The world isn't going to end in 2012.

It will end in about 5 billion years when our sun turns super nova. So you have nothing to worry about, live free and prosper (is that the correct quote?). You and I and everyone else will be long dead when it finally comes. :D

I completely agree with you Bro.Blue except for one thing.. 5 billion yrs from now our sun will not turn into supernova.. instead it will turn into red giant then into white dwarf.. until it cools down.

"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it." -Mark Twain

"I don't want to believe, I want to know." -Carl Sagan

I really like these quotes because i know its true.. I dont rely on faith or beliefs or miracles or prophesies.. these are the enemies of reason. I rely in the power of reason......

DOOMSDAY 2012? Oh please give me a break.

Sir Toose

I rely in the power of reason......

So did those who reasoned that the earth must be flat because their eyes couldn't detect a curve.

Do you think a puritan would have thought it reasonable to travel through the air from the old world to the new in 1/2 day versus a month?

I always say that men should beware their own hubris.

That being said, I don't think the world will end in 2012 either.

I think the thought of the world will change in some meaningful way. There are indications of this abound.

mastertyrone

:nope:ah..ah..ah..

"So did those who reasoned that the earth must be flat because their eyes couldn't detect a curve."

FYI - these people are not reasoning at all, they are BELIEVING.. they are believing that the earth is flat because of the absence of evidence.. in other words they relied in their belief without basis or whatsoever, faith if you say so.. and that also goes with the puritan.

"I always say that men should beware their own hubris."

- I think this also goes to those flat-earth believers and the puritan.

The calender doesn't even end. They had time periods like we do (decades, centurys) not sure how long theres was again. There calender does end on that date, but then starts again on the 22nd of december 2012. The only thing that is due to happen is something on the sun happens every 11 years and its due to happen around december 2012. plus i have food with a 2013 date on it, so can't be true :).

Deadite

Ut oh spaghettiohs, the mayan calender stops at a specific date, instead of going on forever. They were all like, "Welp, that's the day the world ends so no point in adding any more."

no major things on my bday except for I share it w/ a few neat ppl:
1954 – Oprah Winfrey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oprah_Winfrey), American talk show host and actress
1970 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970) – Heather Graham (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heather_Graham), American actress
1982 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982) – Adam Lambert (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Lambert), American actor and singer

ANYWAYS, back on the SUBJECT... I don't think there will be any crazy natural disasters that distroy the world on December 21, 2012 BUT I think that when 2012 rolls around that there is going to be mass chaos and it gets closer to the date. Its not just America, but MANY countries believe in the 2012 theory. I think with so many people worrying about the end of the world there are going to be many more committed crimes, stealing, destruction..... just a lot of bad things are going to happen due to the amount of people who do truely believe that natural disaters are going to end the world. People are capable of bad things but dont commit crimes becuase they are good hearted and want to live life by the law and ect. but when people believe the world is going to end, you KNOW that there are some people who are going to let all hell break loose.

There could be a slight rise, but I greatly doubt you'll see anything resembling a panic. I don't think there is a country that believes this, is there? Sure there's the usual page/time filler in the papers and news networks and there are people all over that've heard of it. But actual belief? Very few. Besides, we've got that bloke who's already got it wrong once this year, 'revised' end of the world date to come this month.

Here's another 220+ "End Of The World" claims that, obviously, got it wrong.

LOL yeah but there was believers for the Harold Camping prediction.
There were things on the news of people (dumb-butts) who quit their jobs and traveled, or stocked up, and even DONATED $ to Camping to spread the word.
So, there might be 12, 21, 2012 believers out there Haha.

From many different countries there are theories of 2012 END OF THE WORLD (which i'm guessing like in America, basically every1 knows it is BS but there is always a few believers out there). If you don't believe me you can google different countries w/ the 2012 Doomsday theory and you will see what they predict and ect. It kind of fascinating LOL.

Here is a website I found with some theorys:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1818140/top_10_december_21_2012_end_of_the.html

It's kind of entertaining to read, well because I dont believe in it. (Otherwise I would be scared.) It's just funny to me because I know out there, someone is worrying about it and will feel much relief as 2013 rolls around. :)

Whoever believes this is being manipulated by people who demand power and control. That is the only logical explanation.
