1990's TV

I grew up watching it.

I remember watching Family Matters. Wasn't ever totally interested in it, but it was part of TGIF, so I watched it. I also miss Perfect Strangers, but that was a few years before Family Matters.

I liked Family Matters, but clearly not as much as you, SC. Besides, Full House was on on Tuesday nights, if my memory serves me correctly. Why not just rename this thread to Favorite TV Shows from the '90s? Then, we could talk about shows like, Alf, Blossom, Fresh Prince, Full House, Step by Step, Seinfeld, Boy Meets World, just to name a few.

Forgot one for the 90's... Dinosaurs!

spudracer

How come all of these characters had dolls?! And all of them talked!

Because the shows were such a hit, for lack of a better word, they had to have some type of merchandising. I know Dinosaurs didn't last long, but the whole "Not the mama" line is probably the only thing people remember (well) from that show.

I just remembered another favorite of mine... The Critic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Critic).

Great show. Something I'll always watch again and again.

Weird and wonderful. :D

Sorry - It just has to be said....

This chick is STILL making this gesture a lot - maybe even right this very minute, as she attempts to land her next acting role...

Here she is leaving the casting directors house at 5 AM on Sunday morning...

I remember watching Clarissa try and explain it all. There was that, Hey Dude, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Are you Afraid of the Dark, just to name a few. Nickleodeon used to have some "great" shows on it.

There used to be this show on in syndication during the week called Wake, Rattle and Roll, reading about it now, it was a pretty stupid show, but back then I loved it for some reason.

This reminds me a of an email I once got.

You know you grew up in the 90's if....

You can sing the whole theme to The Fresh Prince

You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"

You read Goosebumps

Where in the world is Carmen San Diego?

You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

Ahh, memories.

I liked Family Matters, but the route they went with it eventually made me stop watching it near the 7th season.

Here is something that might be of interest to you all.
http://www.inthe90s.com/prime.shtml
It is the primetime tv schedules of the Nineties.

I personally liked the soapy stuff back then, Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210.

And then there was Seinfeld. Except no substitutes. Best Sitcom Ever.

Of the programmes that've been mentioned so far, I'll say that The Critic was superb, as were Twin Peaks and the first two seasons of The X-Files (I thought it went downhill quickly after that and stopped watching a few episodes into Season 4). Most of the other I either didn't see (Family Matters and pretty much everything else SC posted) or didn't like, such as Dinosaurs.

A little surfing and the old grey cells have put together this list:

The Simpson's
Have I Got News For You
Nevermind The Buzzcocks
They Think It's All Over
Fantasy Football League (the weekly show, not the World Cup specials)
The Mary Whitehouse Experience
Absolutely Fabulous
Men Behaving Badly (Not the ITV episodes or a few of the ones where they all partnered up)
Friends
Fraiser
Cracker
Beverley Hills 90210 (All but some of the episodes in the last season)
Melrose Place
Buffy
House Of Cards
This Life (Just the first series)
The Thin Blue Line
Bottom
Our Friends In The North
My So Called Life
E.R.
Due South (first two seasons, some of season 3)
Sex And The City
3rd Rock From The Sun (first couple of seasons)
MST:3K (they didn't show many here, but I think I saw most of what they did)
Neighbours
Eastenders (most of the 90's)
Chances (for those who saw it, how weird did this get?!?!)
Central Park West
Models Inc. (I loved this)
Kindred: The Embrace (Shame this was cancelled too)
The Fast Show
Changing Rooms
Ground Force
Animal Hospital
One Foot In The Grave
Beavis and Butthead
Stella Street
Married With Children
Murphy Brown
Fresh Prince
The Wonder Years
Different World
Mad About You
Caroline In They City
Picket Fences
Blossom
In Living Colour
The Real McCoy
Grace Under Fire
Boy Meets World
Murder One
Cybill
Veronica's Closet
Clueless
Profiler
Spin City

I guess that'll do for now.

Apart from some of the stuff already mentioned (and apologies if these already have been), the 90s to me was all about Chris Morris, Steve Coogan, Graham Linighan, Arthur Matthews and Armando Ianucci.
