Alright there is something seriously wrong with you if you dont go out and see this film in theatres, its a classic, one of the truly great films of all time, but we all know that...

The special editon is very good, because the cg looks real, and it looks like it fits in this 1982 film, it doesnt stick out or anything.

The new sound additions are very intense at times, and do get out of place sometimes, but i loved it.

I had one problem with this movie, its rated PG it has planty of cussing, including 2 uses of sh|t. THEN WHY THE HELL DID THE EDIT OUT THE GUNS!!!!!!!!! it looked so stupid because cops have guns, cops would bring guns when dealing with aliens, BUT THEY EDITED OUT ALL THE GUNS!!!!!!

otherwise, its still as good as it ever was, and dot miss a chance to see #25 on the big screen.

Mercurdius, you're gonna hate me for this but, I've never seen "E.T." *ducks* I wanted to when I was really, really young, but I had something called strict parents who didn't really like the idea of me hanging out and watching movies. Plus, my family wasn't all that wealthy growing up, so that had something to do with it. I still shoulda seen it though, regardless.

I should have rented it by now you ask? It's not the same now if I watch it on video, the moment has passed... you know what I mean? Maybe I'll watch it in theaters this time around...

Didn't want you hanging out and watching movies and look how you turned out. :D

Since it's not released until Friday, I'm not sure if I'll go see it or just remember the "original" version. Personally, they should have only added in effects, not add in and take out. Spielberg can be classified as a dumba*s just because of his decisions in editing this.

As for the PG rating, you remember a small film called Sixteen Candles? It's PG and has a topless girl in it. The rating system has changed over the years so back then they allowed more than they do now on a PG film.

Yeah, Spud, I still ended up a louse, so the jokes on the parenting :) Hmmm... I haven't seen the movie, but I have to agree with your assessment though - the movie could be added to but not deducted from.

Btw, almost forgot, that's a cool sig/avatar (?) you got goin' there. Very cool.
