This entire thread is spoilers! As youre watching a movie for the first time post about it here.

....the movie Twilight. Oh what a condition I think this films gonna be!

http://www.impawards.com/2008/posters/twilight.jpg

10 minutes into this, and feel Anne Rice has nothing to worry about. (When is that Lestat movie coming?!) I can tell Twilights gonna need some hillbilly werewolf to give this film some zip. Lead actress looks like a young Robin Tunney. So does the lead actor. Hmph well these vampires arent very powerful. Mr Moody cant even switch classes in his high school.

20 minutes - Augh damn these kids cant act! If she looks down in confused bewilderment one more time... I cant believe Im saying this, but I miss Christopher Lee.

Twilight contd, and Sir Christopher Lee wept...

30 minutes : Oh the dialogue is rotten. Just rotten! No IMDb quotes up in here whatsoever. Ive seen pro wrestling promos with more range, and depth.

42 minutes : "No. Im on a special diet." Best line of the film by far. I shouldnt have kicked off a thread concept like this with Twilight as the first effort. Reading what Ive typed so far it looks as though Im trying to be funny when in fact Im just trying to finish watching.

Oh! 45 minute mark he's spilling his guts about his mysterious powers. Is this impact? Reminds me of an 80s movie American Ninja...
"Howd you do that?"
"Im a ninja"

Twilight contd...

01:06 - Damn this is the most centered girl on all of planet Earth! Do they believe in story immersion whatsoever?! Ive come to the conclusion this is all aimed at high school girls, but vampires dont burn in sunlight....they just look prettier. DaYuM!!! Pretty in Pink just mightve had more depth than this Im serious!

Ok girls if some moody gorgeous guy revealed he was a vampire by speeding around like the cartoon Road Runner, and then lifted his pickup truck...oh sorry this is Vam-Pires and theyre fancy n deep...I mean their sedan youd pee yourself in fright then go into shock. Yes even Leo! This girl volunteered to confirm her vampire suspicions in the middle of the woods. Oliver North never had such grit. My hope at this point is the indians are werewolves and throw some well needed Dances With Wolves plain perspective into this drivel.

01:23 - Oh they dont ever sleep too?! This movie just keeps coming and coming. ROFLMFAO!! Theyre playing baseball now?! Oh I need to cleanse myself after this with the 70s classic Love At First Bite.

The human blood drinking bad guy vamps want to play baseball too. Oh damn that sounds like Im making a crack but its really happening. West Side Story was a badass piece o business compared to this carebeared yarn. Im sounding bitter. Might need to post in the Marijuana Do You Smoke It thread.

Out of curiosity, have you ever seen Near Dark?

Yes and I think Ill rewatch it. Bigelows best work, and a great cast.

01:39 Twilight - Right after I cracked on the baseball game the movie picked up. Still early episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer haunt my good sense of taste, but at least its better than the first half. Ill refrain from going into how many holes are in the storyline as itd be too exhausting, and cruel. After Iroquois made the Near Dark reference I automatically compare it to....this. Comparing the two vampire families - Near Dark makes Twilight look like TVs The Waltons.

Edward: "I want to kill you"

I didnt know a damn thing about Twilight, but wish I had. I follow the philosophy never watch a commercial for a movie you know you'll see. A commercial shows the best scenes of the film. A big time book series about vampires I thought was a sure thing. Such is the price for freshness.

I know in the past you've said you're not into "artsy" type flicks, but I strongly urge you to check out Let The Right One In (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/). It is a foreign film But I think you can handle it T. It is what horror movies are made of.

Its not if the films artsy. For instance Ive seen alot of Steven Soderberghs work, and be it early or later works he's hit or miss. If the director lets his style overpower the story both are lessened. Be it David Lynch, Oliver Stone, Soderbergh, or whoever imo story comes first. Sometimes the artsy directed movies, like anything Sophia Coppollas done, is pure drivel. She has promise she'll never realize due to her being overpushed. Why is she going to push herself to develop as a director? She coulda been the next Marty Scorsese but alas we'll never know.

That is a really good film. I'll advise all of those who havent done to see it. It's far more imaginative and well made than any recent Hollywood "horror" movie and the cast excell in a really well written slighty left field vampire flick.

One of the better movies of last year in my opinion. Or whenever it came out .... ?

Let The Right One In

15 min - Im all about fitting in at MoFo and all, but this movies starting pretty damn slow. The kid cant act a lick, and Im betting he's the producers son. Not a quieter movie have I watched. Im sure though this will pick up unless you all are just hazing me or something.

30 min - Still a very quiet movie. The little girl at times reminds me of Elijah Wood with those big eyes. Im resolved that this will be a slow paced vampire flick. Strangely Im not bored with it. Either the director knows what theyre doing or Norway truly is the creepiest land on earth. Will get back to this tomorrow.

TONGO
06-17-09, 09:21 AM
Nope I had to go to bed. Now Ill watch 30 min or so before going into work then Ill finish er off tonight.

Sorry about my comment on the acting. It was the dubbing thats so awful. Ive learned by watching TONS of Kung Fu with my friends always watch subtitles over dubbed cause dubbing just kills the acting.

Contd. Let The Right One In..

This director reminds me of Will Eisner. To those that dont know Will Eisner was the creator, writer, and artist of the original comic book The Spirit. Eisners art was strong, but it was his layout ability which was second to none. He always knew how to present the picture fopr maximum effect.

45 min - Oskar is a strange piece o business. Taking a buggy whip to the face with no reaction...thats weird. Maybe his childhood vampire friend will bring him out of his shell, eh?! Cool scene with the cat. Wonder what they did to make it hiss on cue.

1 hour - Whoa! Her daddy wasnt the sharpest knife in the drawer. I could think of alot better ways to kill yourself without pouring acid on your face. It wasnt even enough to do the job! The poor girl sees her disfigured daddy! Being a vampire of course whats required is for her to drink his blood. We would just go on Dr Phil.

More to come, but I gtg to work.

The amount of dialogue in this movie makes me think the book was 12 pages long. Oh damn Oskar. Doing bloodbrothers with her?! Could you have found a worse way?! Whoa! Well she aint 10 yrs old!

Oh damn people this dubbing's just rotten! The vampire girls actually good, Oskar Ive gotten used too, but good luck finding something of worth elsewhere. Oops! Vampire girl got punted!

Hey Mark. Yeah dont I know it. The worst voice actor in the entire film's the main bully that picks on Oskar. Like something from a nosecold and helium.

Let The Right One In final

Possibly the worst vampiric fate was the blond that survived Elis attack, turns into a vampire - no manual available, gets attacked by a trailer load of cats, and then burns to death.

Oskar must have been on the road to being a mentally effed up kid, but Elis keeping him from becoming a sicko. No Im serious "Oskar, I do it because I have to. Be me, for a while." When a vampire serves as a good big brother thats bad parenting.

Those poor stupidassed bullies. Possibly the dumbest adult displayed in this film is Oskars swim instructor. Theyre methodically drowning little mellow Oskar! At least in The Outsiders Leif Garrett was drunk, but these are little kids comparatively. Sweden! fugedaboudit Oops! Well that takes care of that problem.

Well good flick. Open for a sequel which might be fitting for this story. Better than the last 3 M Night films for sure. Light years better than Twilight! I was sympathetic for Eli, but at no time fearful for Oskar. The director has real talent, and the girl should have a career ahead of her. Without a doubt Oskar was the strangest character in the film. Kids today...

I never really got the impression that any of the clothes were from the '60s or '70s but that doesn't necessarily mean they didn't exist at all in the '80s.

honeykid
06-18-09, 10:25 AM
It's set in the early-mid 80's (as will the American remake be, BTW) although there are audio clues throughout the film (mentions of USSR and nuclear power, etc) the fact that there's a Rubik's cube centres it firmly in that period.

Also, I'd highly recommend seeing it properly, i.e. with subtitles. I really can't imagine how different an experience LTROI must've been dubbed. Like mark, I'll only watch a dubbed version if it's the only one available. I'm waiting for a cheap copy of Time Crimes (subtitled) to become available. I saw a cheap one but it was dubbed, so I passed it up.

My son asked me to watch this last Sunday and I couldn't believe how bad this film was. My students are 13 and the girls were all reading the books earlier in the year, and when I came in on Monday and said something like, "OMG, I just saw Twilight. 1 hour - LOL! Like how they lied and scared the crap out of grumpy ole Dr Isaacson. The one thing I like is the great acting. Makes the slow points less so. Yknow with that lil immersion ability in all. Hollywood should recruit from the stage alot more then they do.

1 hr 15 min - Whoa! Just when I thought the movie was gonna be all talk it. Very scary bulletwound to the neck, and hes dead. Him dragging the assassin to the stairwell reminds me of the old John Woo movies. What and where is this video museum thingy theyre fighting in? Very odd looking.

Final of The International...

1 hr 37 min - Ah italian cliffs. Need to post in Stunning Pictures Of World thread again.

I like Clive Owen, but he comes across as too tough in this. This role would have been better cast with someone wimpier. His presence instinctively I feel theres going to be action. Hes very tense almost like trying to carry the rhythm of the film on his shoulders alone. Mueller-Stahl is great in this. The german Wilford Brimley! LOL!

Final - Well if you paid attention to the closing credits the last newspaper headline said the U.S. Senate was going to investigate illicite activity so you just know it will all work out. ;)

Ah well I was wondering throughout the movie how they could stop an international bank, and the country of China from distributing small arms to the third world. The answer was they couldnt. This movie was like a 70s style international crime drama. Was bearable due to the great acting, and directing. They should have chosen a better script imo. More steak less sizzle as they say.

Im open to any film suggestions unless someone wants to take a turn too.

I've not seen the film, so I don't know when the shootout occurs, but I know there's a big action scene in the Guggenheim Museum, so that's probably the what. Well, not the actual place, but a scale mock-up.

As for where? My guess is the Manhatten one, though there is one in Bilbao. I don't know of any others, though that doesn't mean there isn't one.

The architecture in the movie was like a character -- meant to make Clive look small as he fights a global organization. Sorta perfect timing!

I watched the special features and it was pretty cool how they re-created the Guggenheim and they also used some big office complex that is owned by Volkswagen (who had never let in a film crew before) to double as the bank.

I found the film pretty interesting because it didn't follow the usual thriller conventions (no romance and the woman actually seemed smart as opposed to just sexy, the ending wasn't exactly tidy or fulfilling, and the hero didn't always succeed), the story was rather contemporary and thought-provoking, and the look of the film was cool. But overall, the film was missing something.

And TONGO, it looks like you weren't exactly wowed by the movie either.

First 15 min - I actually never saw 2, and didnt know there was even a 3. Oh yeah you can tell theres gonna be a lotta posing going in this. Looks like Vin and crew are trying to hijack some blind trucker unable to see the circus driving up on him. Daaaamn so they jack 2 cargos out of 4 and Senore Oblivio is unphased hes pulling half the weight. If Mad Max was driving that rig hed be serving Vin a cup of shut the hell up - oh! He bailed with his iguana out of the truck! This reads like Cheech & Chong.
Remember when a bouncing tanker of gas is coming towards you its just best to floor it and charge.

Oh FFS! Is it possible there could be a movie where the guy doesnt tell his lover sidekick "Oh its too dangerous for you baby!"?! Just once Id like him to say "Damn woman! Youre getting fat and I need someone younger that could keep up." Fast & The Furious 4

1 hr - If a Trans-Am pulled up and Burt Reynolds got out Id hit the floor right now hysterics! Well he aint. This movie should be a drinking game - whenever any actor stops, stares, then poses for a sec you take a swig/shot. Come with a stomach pump.

Ok so trying to hijack a semi truck in a couple of pickup trucks going in reverse is nothing compared to this new act of genious. Racing at top speeds thru a mine shaft to get across the border. Theres less room for error than what Jada Pinkett had in Matrix 3. Now what? Oh Vin and the cop broke off from the crooks taking $60 million dollars. The cop gets orders to arrest him, but instead the federal agent takes him to his girlfriends house for dinner.

1 hr 15 min - It took 4 movies for me to actually get it, but Vin is this federal agents Bodie. Point Break with cars, and I shockingly have more respect for Katheryn Bigelow. I know Im cracking wise on this flick, but Paul Walker reminds me of Matthew Fox from LOST. Crap actor. Maybe even worse than.

The guy playing the fake big boss Braga reminds me of Dos Equis The Most Interesting Man in the World from the mexican beer commercial. Oh if only he was. Ugh Vins doing alot of Caruso style posing which is camp acting overload. OI! Is it possible that a car engine in this flick doesnt shine like a x-mas ornament?! Dont these people go muddin'?!

Final - Hm?! The main bad guy Braga's very religous. Might be good for a recurring villain with depth, but my moneys on him dying at the end in a car crash. Who wants to bet me?! LOL! Oh ffs. If this movie couldnt have thrown the book of reality further now theyre gonna take Brag back to the states. Oh thats right what was I thinking there are 2 guys in 2 fast cars against a mega heroin cartel.

ROFLMFAO! Vin and fedboy are getting shot at by Bragas minions. So Vin elbows breaks his driver side window rather than rolling it down to shoot his shotgun! With one shell two cars blow up I aint kidding. He is the lovechild of Bo Duke and Rambo. Back to the mineshaft which I guess was a proven winner to escape border patrol. The baddy that killed Michelle Rodriguez character just took out fedboy in a car duel. Never thought Id see a stormtrooper that actually hit. Realism aside finally this mineshaft duel endchase is pretty cool. Welp that guys dead as hell. Ole Vin got his revenge.

Vin helps the good guys bring Braga back to the states, and is rewarded with the maximum sentence of 25 to life. Maybe they wanted a prison section for the videogame? Oh looks like fedboys gone loco and joined with Vins gang n sis too bust Vin free from the prison transit bus. No dont end! I'm so excited I could pee! Dry humor typed is tough to master.

It took 4 movies for me to actually get it, but Vin is this federal agents Bodie. Point Break with cars, and I shockingly have more respect for Katheryn Bigelow.

That's actually how a friend of mine got me to see the first one. I looked that it and the trailer and thought, "Nah, this isn't for me." then he saw it and told me it was Point Break with cars. Thinking back on the trailer, I could see how that could be true, so I went with it. As you say, it tells you how good a job (or how much better a director) Kathryn Bigelow is. Not only that, but how much more charisma and talent Swayze and Reeves have over these two morons.

Miracle At St Anna by Spike Lee. Remember there's dreaded Spoilers within...

25 min -Ok I like alot of Spike Lees stuff, but hardly consider him the level of director as Scorsese, Speilberg, R Scott, Coppolla, etc.... I do think his talent's deeper than alot in the business. Alot! Crooklyn is my favorite movie he's made. Yeah I know Denzel wasnt in it, but unlike alot of his films Washington was in Crooklyn was hilarious, and not overdirected. Overdirecting is Spikes weakness like many directors today.

John Turturro, and Leguizamo are in it. LOL! Thats like saying I saw Arnold in a James Cameron movie. Nice well paced beginning. 15 min in and were going back to WWII.

WTF??!! This one black soldier looks 35 years old, and has gold teeth. Derek Luke has a career ahead of him but Im smelling alot of bad acting. Oi cast your movies smarter! The german lady broadcaster demoralizer scene is funny. "Save yourself negro brothers!" LOL! The nazis didnt even regard black folks as human beings. LOL! Even the nazis want her to shut up. I believe the last thing anyone in war would want to hear in the field of combat is Elizabeth Hasselbecks voice chatterting away.

45 min - A white commander dropped bombs on them knowing they were there. It sucks to be white. Alot of the miscast actors were blown up in a firefight. I guess Spike knew them and wanted to throw a check their way, but ffs the guy playing the big dumb guy Train is killing me. He carries with him and rubs a 45lbs statue head for luck. Good thing it wasnt a kitchen sink eh?! After all a sink would be too cumbersome on the field of combat. Rule #1 Never cast a weak actor to play the dumb guy. It takes more craft than you'd think to pull it off, and this guy aint got it at all. He should have cast the actor that played Biggie Smalls in Notorious. These have to be the loudest field soldiers in the history of man. Out of nowhere Train will just start bellerin'.

1 hr 20 min - Train is killing this movie for me. The actor playing him is so weak yet has so much screen time. Dont forget to rub that statue head! f There are an assorted cast of entertaining characters, and Lee doesnt demonize the nazis. The little boy they picked up along the way is supposed to be 8 or 9, but acts the age anywhere from 2-5 believing Train is made of chocolate.

Lee wants to explore the plight of the Buffallo Soldiers during WWII, but kills his own authenticity with loose filmmaking, and storytelling surrounding the theme i.e. this aint Glory. Im at the halfway point to this flick, and am worried when the "miracle" occurs it will fall flat.

I know those nazi prisoners were in high abundance down in the south...oh wtf cmon Spike there was enough prejudice back then you hardly need to make stuff up! Uh oh theyre pissed and coming back. Theyre making him serve ice slushies at gunpoint! I bet a 7-11 clerk got the chills just watching that. Alls well...

These soldiers keep dragging this kid with them wherever they go, and did I tell you theyre behind enemy lines?! The miracle of the film must be this kid not dying. Really gorgeous italian girl in the flick.
Lots of contrived emotional dialogue. In comparison this makes the Damon scene in Private Ryan telling about his brothers back home look natural and effortless.

Final - So the italian Butterfly is like Robin Hood vs the nazis. The nazis must really hate him they even gunned down an entire italian village cause nobody would tell of him. One of the butterflies men betrayed him! The butterfly finds out! And the guys kills Butterfly. Im serious Butterflies' dead. So the kid is hunted due to him witnessing these nazis gunning down an italian village.

Theres a love triangle between the beautiful italian girl, and two soldiers. This furthers the story in no way other to show her breasts. Yes Spike Lee is still guilty of gratuitous nudity, and sex in his films. Heck he even has used porno stars to play bit parts on more than one film.

Oh. So the nazis are attacking this italian village too. Wtf?! Did I get an F in history or something?! The germans and italy were allies! Theyre not gonna cause an act of war to get Robin Butterfly Hood or whatever, and then risk further war by killing more villages to cover for previous villages. Damn this movies so bad Im sounding like a nazi sympathizer.

Yknow I could go into the ending, but its just a pure gyp. Miracle my balls! If youre gonna make a fictional war movie do it right (see Platoon) cause this was the worst movie Ive ever seen by Spike Lee. Except maybe Girl 6. Maybe. The acting in this was much worse, and he has zero ability to direct a war movie. Lee is at his best when doing Woody Allen type movies, and is better at it than Kevin Smith. None of these great directors know truly what to do with a big budget epic though.

Only until 1943, when the allies landed and overthrew Mussolini's government. Italy signed an armistice a couple of months later (September I think), so they were on 'our' side then. From what I know, the Germans really dug in deep all the way up Italy (my grandfather was there for the duration, including the Battle of Monte Cassino) and he told me of some terrible things he saw and heard in towns and villages.

True Blood Season 4 Episode 9 aired sunday 8/21/11

http://www.aceshowbiz.com/images/news/comic-con-2011-what-s-coming-season-4-5-true-blood.jpg

Im 17 minutes into this crap and was compelled to post. What the hell happened to this show?!

5 minutes into this episode the great witch brigade, led by Tara, wants to make a stand against Antonia. Why?! Because Antonia wants them to join hands and cast a protection spell vs the vampires. Henh?! I so wanted Antonia to slap Tara and her stupidassed MMA backstoryline down to the ground! She casts a simple telekinisis barring the doors, and all the hyper whiteys quickly stfu.

Like the brief interaction with Bill and Alcide. 8 minutes in Im enjoying Sams storyline more than any prior one simply for gorgeous Luna. Janina Gavankar is breathtaking, and I havent been so smitten since Desperado with Salma Hayek

http://bloodygoodtimes.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/janina.jpg

I like Elcides trailer trash girlfriend better than Elcide. Shes funny and had some of the best lines. Last season "They killed my Cooter!" comes to mind. Elcide is useless, and the actor just cant at all.

10 minutes in end Jessica babbling all her boyfriend troubles to chill vampire Nan Flanagan. Nan vows never to be a maker due to the never ending pain of ones like Jessicas company.

14 minutes in and the shows done the impossible. My interest has crested toward the human storyline over the vampires. Lafayette being possesed by some vooddoo ghost mama with a .38 in one hand and a baby in another.

Jason Stackhouse character I thinks hilarious and the actor completely sells that role like a genius. His expressions of stupidity always deliver.

Sookies daytime dream with Eric & Bill, and their interaction. I want to drink paint. So bad this scene I start writing this thread to voice my disapproval.

Tommy certainly will cause another disaster again as that boys so trailer. A nice campfire scene with Sam, Luna, and her daughter. UGH! 23 minutes in and the Sookie blood dream with Eric & Bill make me physically wince. The suck is strong. How a telepath can be so oblivious Ive no idea. Lafayettes stock has gone up if that were possible. The actor Nelson Ellis is an excellent talent.

28 minutes in and Elcides gf Debbie is hopped up on V getting ready to Jerry Springer Sookie werewolf style. ......... no theyre talking in the kitchen. Theyre gonna be friends. No Im not kidding. So she had to get hopped up on V to be nice to Sookie. This shows hitting Twilight level fast.

37 minutes - Elcide is talked into the Sam & Luna vs her werewolf baby daddy Marcus storyline. Whats more interesting is the Lafayette/Mavis resolution. A happy ending with the best finish line as the ghost Mavis thanks Laf, and he replies warmly "You got it b!tch." Laf rawks!!

Debbie and Sookie are attempting infilitration of the Moon Goddess Emporium alone. Makes perfect sense with this show. Tommy imitates Sam to go meet Marcus' crew, and Tommy gets a long overdue beatdown.

48 minutes Eric Northman is under spell to kill King Bill at the vampire tolerance rally. Cut scene to Jason and Jessica doing the rut-rut in the back of a pickup truck. Louisiana culture. Back to the rally where Antonia has 3 more vamps spellbound. Whoa! The vamps literally gutted the guards Hannibal Lector style and all hell breaks loose. Erics going after Bill! Thats the end of the episode!

i tried to like the series, but i have read all the books to date...and i just cant get over the inconsistancies...

the first season was great the second season was pretty good...the third, i think i just watched it to get to over with...i saw about 3/4 ep of season 4, but im done.

the books were entertaining esp with barry the bell hop. the gang always took road trips, i hate that tara sooo different than in the book..

i tried to just watch it for the artistic differences, and a new take on the idea...maybe its to soon for me to give it a fair chance...

i personally loved planet of the apes, yes the one with marky-marky, i had seen the orginial in bits and pieces over the years, i didnt care for it, so i can like the newer one with fresh eyes and a different mind set.

When posting about a flick I always seek out movies that I feel would be good targets for ridicule. :)

First 15 minutes.
So two girls are driving along the northeastern shore seemingly going on vacation. They have that vacation type load of crap in the car, and the music theyre listening to is terrifying. Is there such a thing as good music in a horror movie?! Im guessing this is horror. Obligatory chit-chat scene, and they start hysterically laughing. Pretty girls arent funny.

They meet up with a friend, and she looks very familiar....Imdb....Whoa! Its Jenny from The League! She wrote and directed this movie too! Shes hot :) ...Awesome. I just had my previous statement fed back to me. Well Jenny and another girl are in an eternal feud over some past boyfriend, the third party is Peacemaker Gal, and they go riding on a boat to a rocky island. In the cold. With wind. Girls just dont go out and do this. They dont realize yet theyve got victimitis disease.

They make camp on the rocky windy beach  More drama between Jenny and big eyed girl about whatshisname back when. Some guys come across our heroines, and look sketchy. Through some strained conversation they realize that one of them went to elementary school with one of the guys older brother or something. Jenny invites them to get drunk by the campfire. Victimitis.

35 minutes into the movie

Oh man oh my. I knew what the plot was going into it, but when you have exceptional acting at the helm, you're sucked in anyway. Its 1:17 am and I have no business entertaining staying up till 3:30-3:45am to finish this. I just might.

When the suspect Alex Jones is revealed as someone with a 10 year olds intellect, and he was just so damned pathetically terrified, I thought "Oh so he isnt the predator!? This poor bastards gonna get needlssly tortured later.". Then after Hugh Jackman slung Jones ass to the pavement in front of the police station, and Jones whispered to the Jackman "They didnt cry till I left". OH HELL NAW! Go get the pipes and call the brothas'!! Fricking resurrect Joe Pescis dead mobster character from Casino! And bring his vice!

Now Jackmans watching the Jones house, and manboy Jones while walking the dog decides to hang it by the neck with his leash. Hating on manboy very much right now. I came to post, I shall return. ;)

54 minutes in...

Well after Jackman hears Alex Jones singing the Jingle Bells limerick exactly like the kids did, he snatched him up. Then he brought Terrence Howards character in, I think that was a mistake, and Jackmans in process of pounding Jones' face to where it's looking like the venison they cut up earlier in the movie.

Strange that Alex Jones aunt hasnt reported him missing, and this former priest Gyllenhall captured...I dont know. Jake Gyllenhalls doing a great job too. His "solved every case" swag mixed in with the involuntary blinking, I think theres definitely something substantial to come later from him.

For a 2 1/2 hour movie this is moving along alot faster than I thought it would. I dont know what can happen in another 90 minutes, but Im pleasantly surprised I didnt know 90% of the flick like I thought I did going in.

Well Im watching it now. :)

5 minutes in...

They get right down to it with the action, and love the slick lil touches they do with the computer animation (besides the massive touches), like when Caps shield bounces off everything physically and non physically possible and goes right back into his hand while hees riding a motorcycle dodging bullets and popping wheelies. :D

Theyre squishing some slavic terrorist bunch, I guess Hydra, and Stark sent a drone to clear the neighboring city, which is then pelted with rocks and garbage. Though I dont think this is gonna get all Blackhawk Down with Hulk around. :nope:

15 minutes in...

Well the animations great, and the storys certainly not muddled like every Pirates of the Caribbean sequel. Love how RDJ walks out of his suit, and Hulk transforming. Just so seemless and slick.

Quicksilvers played well, but dont agree with who they cast for Scarlet Witch. Scarlet Witch was ridiculously fine, and this girls good looking, but not Scarlet Witch level good looking.
Yeah, I sound like Im 12.

30 minutes in...

Good movie, at least its starting good. Love the party scene where they all take turns trying to lift Thors hammer. In the comics Captain America could lift it. Enjoyed the cyberworld conversation between Jarvis & Ultron too.

I do agree with them making Stark being Ultrons creator. In the comics it was Ant-Man, but Stark makes more sense. I dont see the relationship of Black Widow and Bruce Banner, in the comics her & Iron Man hooked up briefly, then her & Cap, then her & Hawkeye, but never Hulk. Thats hollywood for ya'

40 minutes....

James Spader as Ultron. Hm. Well they never had Ultron talk like this though I do like James Spader. I mean, no computer talks like that. Oh well it coulda been worse.

Have to admit the one liners from Ultron Spader (sounds like a Survivor character) are distracting. Hell they could have used a scary sounding cyber voice and saved a chunk of change on Spaders paycheck.

RDJ is the rock for this franchise. If he ever stopped playing Iron Man....well lets say theyd have an easier time replacing James Bond.

Another change from the comics is Scarlet Witch's powers. She used to have a hex which would cause catastrophic unluckiness, but now she throws people into an illusionary reality, like the villain Mastermind. It does make for better storytelling, but if I was a diehard Scarlet With fan (theyre out there) Id be pissed.

1 hour in...

For instance the Witch has made the Hulk rampage, Thor and the rest are out of commission, and Iron Man and his entire armory are trying to take Hulk down. Sweeeet fight! Back in the old days of comics the Hulk would occasionally have a Rampage, and heroes would try and stop him, mostly bounce off him.

Hm. Hawkeyes a family man...I like it! Hes not the smartass he was in the comics, and wasnt starting out like a villain like he was in comics, so they might as well since theres already so much SHIELD stuff elsewhere.

1 hour 25 minutes in....

This movies wild! Not much to make fun of other than some obvious impossibilities occuring Ive already given a mental curve to thru reading comics.

Curious what the Vision looks like when he gets out of the "cradle", and I think Captain America is unwittingly stealing the show. The beauty about Cap is he was just a man with a shield, going solo up against Thor & Hulk level opponents, and can still get it done. :yup:

It took me a solid hour to get used to, but Ive come to accept Ultron Spader.

He never had a real personality in the comics, so its better than nothing.

I LIKE how they did the Vision, and Paul Bettany gets much deserved screen time (face time since he was Jarvis's voice).

The reason these movies work is Joss Whedon. He is a true fan of the source material he works on, and knows how to sell it properly not just to the mainstream, but the built in fans too.

1hr 45 min in.....

Remember when I said Scarlet Witch had Masterminds powers? Well shes got more than that, shes telepathic, telekinetic, shoots magic rays, has the hex powers, and the mastermind powers. Dont like Elizabeth Olsen in her role at all, nor who they cast as Quicksilver. CAST SOME REAL RUSSIANS YOU IDIOTS, or at least good actors that can properly pull it off. Sheesh.

2 hrs in.....remember this is all SPOILERS....

Whoa. Pietro/Quicksilver died. Thats a twist.

Mostly been floating city, action, one liners, action, and even more action. Hey, it delivers!

Uh oh. The Hulks trying to out like Robert Duvall did in The Great Santini (great film!). That aint gonna happen, too many lunchpails to sell still.

Solid exchange between Vision and Ultron Spader (thats gonna stick). Love the dialogue in their final face off. I wonder if Whedon planed to use Bettany all along to play Vision. Perfect casting choice!

Dare I say that Joss Whedon is this generations Steven Spielberg?

I finished it. AWESOME! I liked it more than the first one actually.

Soo Ill give it a solid 4 out of 5 popcorn boxes. :)

First 20 minutes....

Jennifer Jason Leigh! Well QT must have an inner mission to revitalize cold careers, and shes deserving of one. Nice exchange between Samuel L and Kurt Russell. The pacing of the movies at a slow tempo, and now I know why this is a 2hrs 45min long film. If its good I wont mind the long ride.

Jen Leigh has a scene where shes sticking her tongue out to catch snow. Just saw that in The Revenant too. I probably just think thats neat cause Im in Florida.

30 min in....

Walter Goggins has joined the carriage ride. This whole movie so far has been b.s.ing banter, but its entertaining due to whose saying it. Chris Walken and Donald Sutherland have made a mint in b-rated films just with exchanges like this here.

I always liked Goggins in The Shield, Justified and The Apostle. Dont think hes ever gonna catch into a-list work, but he holds his own.

Did I mention this movies kinda slow? Its not boring, but you notice it.

45 min in....

Still more introductions and banter. Tim Roth has entered the film and is a noticeable refreshing jolt. So far Jen Leigh hasnt done much to deserve a supporting actress nom, but theres till 2 hours to go yet. How she says the N word is funny. Probably a good idea she didnt win at the blackout Oscars  Oh that Oscars was ass, but it was at least better than Spring Breakers.

Kurt Russell is steady as always, but they could have got someone better for that part cause that role is pure money. Clooney would have rocked it in Russells role, but hes too expensive so thats that. John Goodman would have been perfect except for the necessary physical action needed. Ah well, I gotta remember this is Snake effin Plisken :yup: Anyway hes doing a steady job.

Oh, ouch. Theres a timesink of a scene where Goggins and another guy re planting spikes in snowy ground leading to the outhouse (QT NEEDS AN EDITOR! BAD!) and whats worse is theres this ...just godawful painfully bad ..idk ..mood music in background, it sounds bad. Im stalling by posting about it before going back to finish the scene level bad. So now you know.

1hr 15 min in....

Well all 8 are together snowed in some tavern/store. Im guessing this is the movie them snowed in, cause not a damn thing has happened other than banter. Them screaming for people to keep nailing the door shut is funny, and its amazing how many N words are being used. Theyve even overtaken the F words :yup:

Im going to bed. When I wake I know what Ill be getting into - a Jackie Brown western without the good music. Not worthless, somewhat entertaining, but I doubt ill sit thru 2hrs 45min of this again. QT NEEDS AN EDITOR! Ive seen novelists after getting big just have the fattest books because the publishers wont edit them.

1 hr 35 min in.....

Well the 8 have become 7 as Sam Jackson tells Bruce Dern just the most.....awful story. If you liked that story you probably liked the movie Tusk too. Anyway I didnt like either.

Gone from 5, to 4, to 3 1/2 popcorn boxes at this point.

2 hours in....

Finally! Its all hit the fan now. Bad part is Kurt Russell, and I think Tim Roth are dead, and besides Samuel L, they were what was entertaining about his movie. 45 min to go, but Im hopeful it stays at this pace and finishes strong.

5 minutes later...

Timeskip time. I guess its a QT standard. What a drug addled idiot. He says "The 8th Film By Quentin Tarnatino" before the title like his name itself is worth spending $10 and 3 hours of your life, and it doesnt matter what the story is.

Finding out what happened now before they got there. A second person from England has popped up in the middle of ol west Wyoming. Dumb drug addled idiot...

Oh, sorry, the second person wasnt from England, but New Zealand. Theres also a french speaking sophisticate cowboy too played by Channing Tatum.

This is pathetic. Tarantino is narrating this western. Tarantino!? Do you think an italian New Yorker like Scorcese if he made a western, that he'd use his own voice to tell that tale?! Im not saying this movies worthless, but Im sad that it scored an 8.0 on IMDb, ohhelltotheno!

2hrs 20 min....

On the final chapter, QT breaks his films into chapters to compartmentalize his genius yknow', and the unlikey shot up team of Googins and Samuel L are up against everyone else left. Thankfully it didnt take long to show what happened before everyone got there, though all that couldve been done effectively with a quick 5 min narration by Sam Elliott.

In all honesty if an hour was shaved off this movie itd just be great, but it wasnt shaved so I gotta bitch.

Whoops! Looks like Sam L shot Jen Leighs brother in back of head and his gores all over her face. Need to call Winston Wolf!

Finished it.

Well the last hour had content but it certainly did not need a 1hr and 45 min setup time to get there. Everyone played their part well. Ending was less hokey than Inglorious Basterds.

Ill give it 3 1/2 popcorn boxes. Expect a long watch and youll be fine.

I could forgive if a valid explanation was given, an overview on all the things shown that would make these surprises make sense, and there is an entire season 4 yet to be viewed.
Im not getting that all things will be explained vibe, and what comes to mind is the last 2 or 3 seasons of LOST where they just did stuff without any explanation afterward. At the end it was all sizzle and no steak.

Yknow, what a character would and would not do is the essence of good writing. Great authors find themselves taken to paths they never imagined beforehand by staying true to the character. This tv series doesn't have this quality sadly.

Michael Hogan's portrayal of Saul Tigh was a breath of fresh cranky air for a very smart Sci fi show. Now halfway thru the last season I'm just amazed he could keep a straight face. 9 more episodes....

Finished the Battlestar Galactica series. Overall I'd give it a B+, First 2 seasons were awesome, and last 2 flawed but watchable. Ill watch it again sometime.

Found out an interesting detail on Edward James Olmos. Years ago he was offered the part of Jean Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Problem was he wouldn't be able to do any other projects but that, and didn't want such inflexibility, so he passed and Patrick Stewart got the role. Olmos would have been awesome, but Patrick worked out too.
