I been hearing some good things... Now i really want to lose some weight and have been told that Wii fitness is whats good!!! Now im not gonna invest in it if i dont hear nothing good... does anyone have some insight!!;)
I have one. It's pretty good, but it's mainly stuff you could do, with out ya know, buying it.
I havent got it but from what I have heared you can do the exercises with out using it and the expense, but if it motivates you to want to do it and makes you feel you want to loose some weight well that is great :yup:
Good luck mate keep us posted on your sucsess. Also the Wii balance board is going to come in handy for the snowboarding and skate boarding games that are coming out for it, so its cool you dont have to use it just for Wii Fit.

Here is what is good about Wii fitness, IMO.
First, of all it stresses center of balance. Without a good center of balance your body is out of alignment, which can cause all kinds of ills. I am frequently out of balance Wii Fitness is one of the tools to help me stay in balance and therefore safer and healthier.
Second, there are rewards and goals. That could help some people. You can unlock other exercises as you go along, or get new stamps to put on your calendar, you can chart your BMI and weight. You can set weight loss and gain goals. Competing with yourself, the computer or other people in the house hold can motivate. I know I LOVE beating my own record and/or beating someone else's in the house!
Third, it's easy to start so it shouldn't discourage people.
Four, it's there, 24/7 for you in the privacy of your home.
Fifth, you can pick from a female or male trainer and watch them from the front or the back.
*raises eyebrows and looks amused*
What I don't like about it:
You can't set it to work on the specific area I want to work on. It focuses in the hips far too much for my liking as well.
You can't set it to just work on certain muscle groups on different days. It seems to think you should do everything every day. Muscles do best with a hard work out and a day of rest. I like to do certain ones some days and other ones other days.
Cardio is limited to Hula Hooping, Running and Aerobics. Of course any exercise might help your cardio vascular system but even so, I'd like more variety.
The focus on weight is more than I'd like it to be. You can weigh a goodly amount, look great and wear smaller sizes, IF that weight is muscle. No one should be encouraged, IMO, to obsess about weight. That shouldn't be what fitness is all about.
You must push the A button near constantly. It's irritating.
If my trainer tells me one more time that I can breathe through my "mouth for now" but should learn to breathe through my nose I'm going to scream. Repetitive BS is not my fav thing. I get made that the virtual trainers! LOL!
What I'd like to see:
I wish you could import exercises that you wanted to do!
I wish the favorites section were bigger so you could have full work outs and at least, two sections of them for the things you wanted to do every other day.
I supplement Wii fitness with working around the house and yard, sports and other activities outside the house and DVD's from the library as well as my own set list of exercises for my core.
Recommendations:
If you do Wii Fitness you need to do a LOT of it for it to actually help you accomplish something. One set of what they want you to do is easy. If it's easy, it's not enough. Though doing anything even when it's not much is better than doing nothing. Do it until you can't anymore or until you need to switch to something else because of a cramp or whatever. Speaking of cramps don't forget to warm up. I think the Yoga is good for that.
Make sure you have water at hand. Water, NOT a sports drink. Very few people have an actual need for sports drinks. They are ubiquitious these days but not healthy unless you have a big loss of salt or electrolytes.
If you need a sport's drink because you are underweight or don't get enough protein, try chocolate milk instead, just a glass, then go back to water.
Try to start out with 30 minute work outs. Cardio of 30 minutes should be at least three times a week (four is better). The longer you do cardio the better. Work outs don's work that well if you can't feel them.
Every day try to meditate. The yoga on Wii is nice for starting out. The Zen Meditation I find irritating. I do my own.
