Gotta catch up on this, for some reason I lost it halfway through on first season. Now that it's over I want to netflix the past seasons to catch up. This is definitely on my radar to catch up on.

I will have to get my hands on the old series just to see what it is like, I know that the old Galacatica looks allot like or even is the Pegasis ship in the new series. Also I know that Richard Hatch who plays Tom Zarek in the new series played Captain Apollo in the original series.

I've always wondered why they changed the Cylon ships in the new one, but left the Vipers practically the same. The old Cylon ships looked much better and the Vipers always looked crap, IMO.

There were some newer Vipers in the show but the Cylons kind of wipe most of them out. There's a reason why most of the pilots end up in the older Vipers. You should check out the Pilot for the new series sometime. It was a pretty damn good show.

I did mean to, but I missed the first couple of parts of the mini-series, so didn't bother. Then the same happened with the first season, so it became something that I thought I might see one day, either on dvd or repeat showings. I have the complete 70's seriess though. I'm not against the new version, it's just that the 70's and no CGI beats the crap out of the 00's and CGI each and every time. Galactica 80 was total **** though. :yup:

Im looking forward to crack on with season 3 and the rest of the show, the boxset I just bought is great as it has the mini series and the extended episode Razor init :yup: Im also looking forward to see "The Plan" is from the point of view of the Cylons and "Caprica" the new series set before the first Cylon war.

The original series is available on Hulu unless they just recently took it off. I'm sure it was great for its time, but the tech aspects seem a bit distractingly simple, now.

The CGI in the re-imagined series is fantastic, actually, and I'm not a fan of CGI generally speaking. They shot the whole series in HD digital, which surprised me to learn because it looks like film, but probably helps the CGI to not pop out as fake. They also did a lot of distressing of textures and randomizing in the imagery so things don't have that "too perfect" look.

I just rewatched the miniseries and 33 tonight. I think I've said this before, but it amazes me how much of the themes and relationships are hinted at so early in the series.
