View Full Version : Milk
Ok where do i start im not gay but i liked the movie. Sean Penn was amazing totally lights up the screen with gayness lol . If you like true filmes this one should be the next one you rent or buy. It shows if you truly belive in somthing you can raise above and take charge. The whole movie he fights for what he wants and wins thats one of the best feelings a human can have. "VICTORY" The film Has alot of male kissing senes in it but, if that dont bother you all that much you should watch it. Very inspirational Also gives you some history about our country and at certain times how corrupt it can be to certain groups of people. :D
SOOOO WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE MOVIE

I'm sure a lot of people weren't 'gay' and still liked this movie. It actually sounded sort of offensive the way you said it in your first sentence. I really liked it though; I thought it was great.

Whilst I understand where you're coming from MM, the review leads me to believe that it's not the case. There may be a better way to phrase it, not that it needs saying at all, but that doesn't mean that it's wrong.

Yeah sorry guys for being so open minded but i have nothing bad to say about gay people.
Er, I don't think anyone was suggesting you should.

I turned this movie off half way , I guess I wasn't in the mood for movies - I should probably pick it up again though.

I concur.
Yoda doesn't get mad. You know, that whole "Let go of your anger" thing would have seemed rather silly if Yoda was sitting around blowing his top all the time. Why would Luke listen to someone like that?
Yeah you should finish it. Its a movie that gives you hope that maybe this world can change.:) OBAMA is the MAN!!

It's a pretty great movie, IMO. Right now is a time of progress in the movement. Remembering those that made that movement viable is important.
As the parent of a gay child I felt almost required to watch it.
It's amazing how little progress has been made since Milk's time. This week much good has happened. I hope gay people continue to get rights and don't have live in fear so much.
I was mildly surprised by how good it was. Initially, I couldn't see Penn in the role, but I have to say he was excellent. Van Sant is capable of much more, but it was affecting nonetheless.

I can understand why you may have felt you had to lead off your comments with the fact that you're not gay, but I understand why some posters might have been offended by that. Your opinion of the movie should really have nothing to do with your sexual orientation. A good movie is a good movie and a bad movie is a bad movie, no matter who you're sleeping with. That being said, I would agree that it's a great film. Sean Penn and Josh Brolin were amazing.
