Hey MoFo's,
I'm zenderella, you are welcome to call me zen. I'm 29 and have had a life long passion of movies. I'm actually a theatre lighting technician, but I've dabbled as a gaffer in a few short films, and cinema projection. Even though I've enjoyed these jobs, I just love nothing more than watching and sharing movies I like with my friends.
I guess I should try and give you an idea of the movies I like, but I will start of by saying its more than difficult, as I like most movies, though I am getting more selective as I get older. I will quote myself after seeing 'Twilight' recently: "Oh my god, that was the funniest movies I've seen in ages, what was that? One long movie trailer? a 2 hour cheezy music video? I think it was bad directing, is it just me, or was that bad directing.."
Ok when asked what my favourite movies are, it usually goes something like this:
"Oh The Goonies would have to be Top 5, and Breakfast at Tiffany's, oh Almost Famous, wait.. Amelie, The Breakfast Club, oh Harvey, The Royal Tenenbaums, oh thats more than 5? Ok put Amelie in the top 10 and put Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in, wait Singin' in the Rain has to be in there.. oh *sigh*"
So heres a selection in neat alphabetical order:
A Scanner Darkly, The Addams Family, Almost Famous, Amelie, Big, Breakfast Club, Death Proof, Desperately Seeking Susan, Dirty Dancing, Empire Records, Fast and the Furious (1 & 3), Ferris Buellers's Day Off, Forces of Nature, Garden State, Girl Interrupted, The Goonies, Hackers, Harvey, Heart and Soul, He Died with a Felafel in His Had, High Fidelity, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Incredibles, The Iron Giant, Iron Man, Juno, Jurassic Park, Kill Bill (Part 1 & 2), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Ladyhawke, Lilo & Stich, Mean Girls, Memoirs of a Geisha, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Nikita, Office Space, Pitch Black, Planet Terror, The Princess Bride, Pump Up the Volume, Real Genius, Rear Window, The Royal Tenenbaums, Sahara, Scream, Serenity, Shaun of the Dead, Singin' In the Rain, Snatch, Sneakers, Tank Girl, They Call Me Trinity, Transformers, Untamed Heart, War Games, Weird Science, Withnail & I, X-Men.
and many many more.
Oh and its pretty much standard form that no matter how intelligent the movie may or may not be, I will like it if its got any of the following people in it:
Robert Downey Jr., Vin Diesel, Neil Patrick Harris, Magyver, Wolverine, Elvis, and anything from the 80's with Mathew Broderick.
Well I should stop now.
Regards
zenderella

Welcome fellow High Fidelity fan! I don't think I run into too many people that have seen or care for that movie, so it's always a privilege when someone else comes along!
Hope you plan on sticking around. Sounds like you'll fit in quite nicely here.
Welcome Zen

ok this is taking to long individually, so Apologies to all for the bulk message:
Silas, Happy St Pats Day to you too! Oh how awesome is Office Space and Shaun of the Dead. I have to be careful not to watch Office Space too often or I get into a strange mind space. Lucky I don't have an office job, or I would quit shortly after to many viewings.
Yoda and Slug, Thanks! All the welcomes are lovely.
Spudracer, Oh now that I'm thinking about it High Fidelity.. has to be in my Top 5! *laugh* Oh man High Fidelity, thats why I do Top 5's! I do plan on sticking around, I love the general topics, choc full of fun.
zedlen, Haha thanks. My point about it being bad directing in Twlight will hopefully be validated! I heard that the 2nd one is being directed by someone else.
Powdered Water, It sure does.
"I can't fire them. I hired these guys for three days a week and they just started showing up every day. That was four years ago."
Anyway thanks for all the welcomes!

Well I can't tell you what you missed, people like different movies. I haven't seen it for a good seven years or so. If I were to give you a solid review of the film I would have to watch it again, and I'm not that good of a reviewer anyway. I believe what I found to be the central theme of the movie is the futility of attempting to hide from your past, despite what you may surround yourself with to distract from it. It will always be there, 'burried' deep beneath unless you confront it. This applies more so to those who have a past that may not be of the usual sort, such as a life of crime.

You see that, see that! That's truly an ideal introduction. No bad grammatically, incoherent sentences. No creating an account just to figure out which movie it is, you can't remember... This is great! :p
Expect a friendship invitation from me any minute now.

I don't visit this part of the site often enough and, as I've already said "hello" in another thread (as well as declaring my love and proposing marriage. My apologies, your dvd collection got me all overexcited) I'm thinking this is both late and unnecessary. However, as it's your official "welcome" thread and everything...
Welcome. I hope you enjoy your stay. :)
Not sure exactly what can be shown here but, if blood and violence turns you off, don't watch the following. Also, if you haven't seen Death Race 2000 and don't want to see all the choice cuts, then you should skip this... Otherwise, enjoy!!

Sorry I missed this, Welcome to MoFo's mate

Yes, I think it was me that you mentioned it to (I "no-no'ed" your "fo' shizzle" :D )
I genuinely couldn't tell you how many times I've seen Death Race 2000. I first saw it when I was 9 or 10 and loved it ever since. My favourite scene changes (much like it does with This Is Spinal Tap. Currently, it's Derek trapped in the pod) but at the moment it's the Carradine/Stallone fight.
Best line never changes though... "It's a hand grenade." Superb. :D
Hey welcome whats up ? ;)

I should apologise in advance on here. I say words like chillin', yo, word, and forshizzle. a fair bit these days. I realise it doesn't come across very well in a written format. If you picture Juno saying any of these words, thats pretty much the right context. I'm a fairly middle class caucasian australian girl with absolutly no "flavour". I don't know when I started using these words, its only been in the last year, and I guess it just stuck because it makes people (aka my mates) laugh. Now I don't even notice most of the time.
end rant.
*grin*
