I saw this movie the day it came out and it was awful. I have never seen such retarded characters and random use of nudity and fake breasts being flashed for no reason. The plot is so basic and the characters are to dumb to even attempt a proper escape. There is a fine line from reality and shouting at the screen at the stupidity of the people getting killed. Texas chainsaw,Hills have eyes and Halloween remakes were great but this was not "sadly"

I would give it 4/10.

I noted from a trailer I saw that Jason was running...running!!!!. Jason doesn't run, he meanders quickly.;)

I havent seen this yet, but im a massive fan of the series and I hope to see this very soon.

The only bad film really IMO in the series is Friday 13th V where Jason isnt actually init which is a complete kop out.

It's a masterpiece like the other ones.

Well, he ain't really in the first one either.

Anyway, I agree with 7thson about the running. When I saw that I was like WTF Mate???

But 42 million opening weekend, that is damned impressive.

If I could eliminate a genre , it would be the horror genre. (aka the money genre)

Then you wouldn't have so many great films like The Evil Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, An American Werewolf In London, Alien, The Thing, The Shining, Halloween.

Go for something worse, like a Rom Com.

I could settle for Rom Com , but then we'd miss out on Apatow's Knocked Up and 40 Year Old Virgin.

I guess we shouldn't remove any for now. Not untill Friday the 13th 2 remake comes out next year.

If I could eliminate any type of movie's it would be all these recent bloody spoof movies, I mean come on they are made in 5 minutes, not funny at all and a complete waste of time. I love a good comedy and the old spoofs like Hot Shots etc but these recent spoofs are dyre.

Well, with horror it's either good enough to scare me or bad enough to make me laugh. If it's really good, it can do both (a la Evil Dead).

Rom-Coms, on the other hand, are irredeemably crap most of the time.

I'm glad you can't.

By the by, I watched Friday the 13th part IV (The Final Chapter) on Saturday... Jason runs in that one though not in as animated a manner as in the new trailer.

In what way is this movie good?? i have seen straight to DVD titles that have been more believable with better actors than this mess. Yes i admit it was quite fun in the cinema but thats because of the loud noises that make you jump. The main actor who's house it was they were staying in was annoying and then we have the plastic girls with wooden acting. The way they make no attempt to get away from the house/camp is pathetic. This movie could have been fantastic if they would have stuck to the original's suspense.

As regard the victims never running from camp, that happens in all horror movies its a fact. There is always some fool running upstairs when they should be going through the door, in the car and away. If you have seen any horror/slasher you would know that most people go for a run around the area where the killer is, its more fun for the audience. What would you rather see an idiot running and hiding where they can get killed or sodding off so you see endless footage of Jason walking through the woods to find them. Or even worse footage of Jason sitting knitting waiting for the next group of teens to be slaughtered?

I thought there were some unnecessary scenes in the movie. There didn't need to be as much sex as there was. I also wish that they had focused on the first group of kids that were staying at the actual camp instead of the ones that were staying at the rich kid's house. I liked how they took some scenarios from the original series and incorporated them into this movie. The death scenes were pretty cool too. Over all, I give this movie a 2.5/5.

This movie was pretty good in my opinion. Although in the first friday the 13th movie...

it was Jasons mother who was the killer but in this one, its the actual Jason.
But, overall, the movie is worthwhile.

I have seen first eight Fridays, but this so called remake is definitely the worst Friday the 13th I've seen. Too much useless nudity scenes, storyline was awful (two almost different stories put together) etc. etc. Like I said in my review thread, I give only 1/5 (I don't use zero) for this garbage, which I would hope was never made.

Ok, so that is two complaints about "too much nudity."

Are you serious?

News Flash - These are Friday the 13th films - That is, a silly slasher series that provides exactly what it is supposed to. No plot, lots of deaths, and lots of sex.

You should also mention that smoking is bad for us, or something else as painfully obvious.

If someone goes to this film expecting something sophisticated or deep, I just don't know what to tell them...

I do agree with Alpha that the first one had actual suspense in the film, which I liked.

Anyway, All of these films are awful. I still love the first few, though. Part of my early teen years, so the nostalgia is too strong.

I havent seen this film yet but im sure that this is no where near as bad as no.5 now that is the worset film in the series. My reason for this choice is simple it has a rubbish story and it hasnt got Jason init, which is a bloody gip to the fan.

Im really looking forward to see this movie.

I couldn't agree more. I watch HORRIBLE horror movies all the time because they make me LoL more than most comedies do. I'm especially fond of low budget zombie movies.

I'm not a big fan of the way Hollywood is on this 'remake every good movie' kick it is on but I did enjoy Halloween. I'll wait till this hits DVD and I imagine it will be worth while. I am a bit upset that they used actresses with fake boobs though. I've never been fond of them. :p

The movie was just OK. Only watchable because I was drunk in the theater with 1000 other people. Boobs that look like baseballs smothered in baby oil...not good.

Friday the 13th remake...(sorry, I know this is old, but I'm new and got some catching up to do)

I found nothing new or original about this movie...but I guess it was made to reintroduce people to Jason, who don't remember the original premise.

The template they use for this movie is just to played out...you know, throw a bunch of ivy league college kids together and send them off to a cabin...then comes the sex, and the killing...that's really played out...

And the people they throw together, don't seem like they would really hang out in real life...
So your like...ok...that ones going to die, cause they don't belong, oh and they'll be next...ect ect...

I just found the movie to be very 'dry' and 'predictable'...I didn't get scared, not even once while watching...

If anything your like 'Oh Jason, must you kill that one, they kinda look good'...it's like a waste of good flesh.

Although the guy in the barn...the one that liked sheep, well..they were kinda annoying...and you just knew they were getting it...

Anyways...this movie offers nothing new in suprises or scare...
