How cute are you, Toose? Awwww...baby Toose.

i need a scanner.:(
I hope I can find this one picture of me, and get it scanned in. It's got me drinking a bottle of apple juice and sort of posing. I look damned cute. Or at least, I think I do. Great thread idea, BTW, Toose.

i was walking for the first time. probably gettin my baby groove on.
i've seen a movie of me not just walking but running at 9 months. ....... thought maybe my daughter would follow in the same footsteps so to speak...but that kinda thing isn't necessarily genetic. ;)

awww... :D that's cute.
There's a video of me trying to walk my Uncle Mike's dog Buster when I was, I dunno, 7 or something. He was this hyper little pitbull-esque thing. He dragged me all around...he'd turn one way, and then the other, and I'd just be getting pulled around via the leash. My grandparents were watching and laughing their a**es off. Wish I still had that tape...maybe it's around somewhere...
Austruck
04-05-02, 11:46 AM
That tape's around, Commish. We can dig it out if you really want to.
Oh, and that horrible "pit bull" dog that dragged your a$$ around was, in reality, just a Sharpei.
LOL! Wussie boy! (And yes, his grandparents just stood there watching this dog yank him around the yard, and laaaaaaughed. And so did all of us.)
Anybody want baby pics of Commish? I got a million of 'em! Even at minutes old!!

04-08-02, 08:16 AM
Heck yeah, I'm Commish's mom. And heck yeah, I like the Naked Gun movies.
Where do you think Commish gets his weird sense of humor? From his weird parents, of course. Oh, and his weird grandparents. His grandmother (my mom) loves Pink Floyd and Joe Walsh and used to drive a Fiero till last year when the transmission finally died. Go figger.

I was class of 85 and I don't remember much about it all :D. I do remember our class song was Open Arms by Journey. I also remember that I had a 1976 Volkswagon Rabbit that I got in trade for a Yamaha YZ250 dirt bike that I got in trade for laying a coat of pearl lacquer over my buddy's 64 Mustang (I worked in a spray booth). That stupid VW had no floor, it was from Michigan and it was rusted halfway up the doors. I could watch the roadkill under my feet as I sped by. Pretty convenient way to dispose of those empty beer cans (that is a joke, I am environmentally responsible).
That does remind me though... in Texas, I could drink at 18 AND I could have an open container in the car. EVERYONE back then drove around drinking beer and wine coolers...I kid you not.
I'm on a roll here... stream of consciousness... know what else I remember in my lifetime? I remember going to the courthouse with my mother at about age 5 in upstate NY. There were 2 water fountains... one marked "colored". I remember asking my mother what colored water was. Pretty insane huh? Stop and think about how much has happened in the world in the past 100 years and it'll blow your mind. Equal rights for human beings has only been recognized for 40 something years... and in some backwater places is still not recognized. I know some folks from Georgia who still use the "N" word in regular conversation. They talk of the "N" man they hire to do odd jobs and the "N" maid they have and in their part of the world it's still normal. The black folks don't take offense (at least outwardly) to it... it's just everyday life.
How in the hizell I got off on that I don't know. Anyways, I'll talk at y'all. Do think about everything that's happened within your time here on the rock... you might be amazed if you really think about it.
Dang. And to think I'll be telling my kids about September 11th. And just as I don't fully appreciate Vietnam, they'll probably feel the same way about that.
I remember a few things from early childhood. I remember driving by a prison in the car with my family. I asked them what it was. My dad said "That's where bad people go." I said "Is Michael Dukakis in there?" I also remember watching the 1992 election on TV.

Very true. I still remember studying cases for Dr. Ware's criminal law class in the library with my walkman (new technology at that time) on and listening to the news of the Challenger going down during takeoff. I remember Nixon on TV talking about "vietnam" and having no clue what it was about. I remember being uneasy about the Iran hostage situation and voting the first time for Reagan. I lost a friend to "Gulf War disease" and I remember being terrified of being drafted bc I didn't want to go through the same thing. I remember lengthy conversations with my older cousins and uncles who served in vietnam and the stories of war they told and how those stories changed dramatically when I heard my friends discuss their service in Iraq. Hand to hand combat became a thing of the past. My friend was in the 82nd airborne, the first company deployed into Baghdad. He told me of being terrified that he would actually have to kill another human being... maybe with bullets or maybe with bayonet. He told me of being so very surprised when the opposition forces simply laid down their arms and gave up and the almost comraderie the US soldiers felt with the Iraqui soldiers. The world is an amazing place.

LOL, r66, I hadn't thought of that, but it does fit, doesn't it?
He was an alert little sweetie even from minute 1. A great day then (coming up on 19 years ago!) -- and he's the kind of personality who never disappoints to this day. Can't take too much credit for him, though. He was born the way he is.

Ahhh, so sweet :)
But don't they age fast? She's only five months old there, but she looks like a dame from the fourties! [did the starch in her clothes hold her in that standing position btw? ;)]
But waaaaaaah, can't upload my own squidgy mug :bawling: . Anyone know how to shake the attachments thing so what you want drops out?
EDIT:
aha, just made it smaller. What they hey, i was a babby anyway ;) Cheers Auchestrator ;)

Make sure that once you browse for the file, that you click the "Add Attachment" button to the right, and THEN the "All Done" button below. I didn't click both the first time and nothing happened.
Hope that helps.
P.S. I was holding her up behind her back for that picture. She was sitting up. The photographer kept trying a regular picture with no thumb, but she was too fast for him every time. We finally agreed that it was far better the way *she* wanted it. :)

Better than a bawling-baby photo anyday ;)
And ahhhhh, ain't we all little miracles (i love the way everyone's still surprised by kids growing, even tho we all know it happens. Even wise old heads say "my haven't you grown" in that twinkle-eyed shocked way. Reality following its long term plans-to-be is such a cool lesson in time-weaving, n'est pa? heheheh, cheers (think i'll stay in the seventies for now tho on the piccie front. Would'nt want you to see my more sarcastic modern smile just yet ;))
it's weird on the smiling thing - but i'm almost always beaming like a loon in my babby pics. I have this totally surreal memory tho which might explain it a bit. I'm sure i've back edited this - but this is what i remember happening when i was six.... I was remembering a time when i'd been in the bath [to me it seemed like just the other day], and i was wondering why the bath water had been so low. In the memory, I was chewing on ("my") wooden fish, and then something caught my attention (everything was blurry round the edges, like i could only really absorb info right in the middle of my view, not periphary stuff) - it was the familiar looking black-n-silver camera (i.e. familiar to my six year old memory as a camera, i dare say), sported by my pa, with my ma behind his shoulder grinning at me like a loon ;) And her face just meant "goodness" to me at that time. That's the word that my six-year-old head gave me to describe it. I smiled coz i'd seen goodness.
In this six-year-old memory i now/still have access to (the other one has been reworked to death really. I have vague glimpses/grasps of the blurriness around the vision and my ma's face, but that's about it. When i try to thinking about it i get the actual photo more than anything)... i then saw the photo in question, and was flipped out to realise that it was a memory from so far before (i.e. at about ten months old). Now, it would make more sense if the photo triggered the memory, and i then came out of the reverie and then looked at the photo again and twigged. That's more likely what happened.
Either way, memories eh? Funny old world ;)
If I had the know-how, I'd love to put a little speech-bubble on that pic, with happy, owl-eyed Baby Gol saying, "Genetic modification is bad!" ;D
