I got the idea from watching Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. When discovering that moviepoopshot.com doesn't exist, this ended up being the place :P.

well I guess I found the guy in charge now :P
my reasons are pure and simple. i love talking, learning and teaching about movies and their history. no one in my family likes to hear me talk about movies. dad says its useless information save for if i ever went on a game show!! to me this place is home where i can talk about my love for cinema.. and not be looked at as wierd for it. kevin is interested in learning so i teach him as he asks questions... but mainly i just know i am home when i bring up louie b. meyer and i dont get that question ''who is that?''

I was looking for photos and pictures to accompany my top 200 films (very, very, very bored, as you can see), trying to make the list look nicer than just a simple text list and google image directed me to this site. Then I roamed around a bit, figured, well I might as well join up.
I found this site and stayed as it is the best and friendliest movie site on the web.

I feel embarrased about bringing up moviepoopshoot now.

Mrs. Darcy told me what a wonderful place this truly was.
And you know what?
She was right.
Some of the nicest, most interesting, people I have ever had the privledge of knowing are right here.
And that's a fact.
Being here is like a burrito from Taco Bell.

Nice metaphor Slug, although the aftermath of that Taco Bell burrito isn't always pure pleasure. Were you kidding around in reference to Kaspar's mentioning of moviepoopshoot.com?
Okay that's about enough bathroom humour from me.
I'm a latecomer to the web, but I joined a couple of sites about four-five years ago and posted a lot. I got a little burned out and hammered at one of the sites, but Holden Pike was a member there and suggested this site. I didn't really come check it out for awhile though because I was the chief moderator at the other site, and all the "webmasters" were replaced by corporate types. I was given more responsibilities, but found it less fun, so I drifted over here one day, and now it's my forum of choice... I learned that the Internet had a lot of MoFos on it shortly after I dragged myself into the 21st century, but little did I realize they were such friendly, caring MoFos.

Mark's answer is nice, but I like Holden's more. I haven't even been to any other movie sites, I'm newer to the net than Mark, maybe a few months, with a year break and again recently only for a couple of months. But sooner or later I'll be departing this gigabyte wasteland, too much of a distraction.

I think Groucho Marx said something I've always been a fan of:
"I wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have me as its member." (or something like that). But hey I still joined, because it was too irresistable. Don't you wish I'd obeyed Groucho's motto?

Not really, you seem OK to me. Another good mantra is the Lloyd Dobbler School of thought...
"I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that."

I joined MoFo because back in 2002 I was banned from RottenTomatoes. That site sucks by the way. So do most of the idiots that post there.
I found MoFo around the same time as I found Moviejustice and posted at both of them, while making my primary home Moviejustice. Since Moviejustice is in stasis right about now and I need some place to talk about films I've recently come back to this site as a regular after being a long time member.

I was a long time poster on rottentomatoes.com , but was not a fan of anyone there - and everyone was assured I was a troll.
When I came to movieforums it seemed like there were a lot less posters , but I've come to enjoy this forums much more than any other. Technically it's beautiful to post on , it's so fast : and the main reason - the fun users.

maybe an exaggeration...but i have learned a ******** about movies from these forums

I posted on RT for quite a while and really enjoyed it there but I stopped posting sometime during summer for no particular reason. Guess, I was just tired of forums at the time. But when I got the urge to post again I decided to mix up the venue. I knew a few RTers that had posted on here and said it had a much more chill environment and that appealed to me a lot. So yeah. Here I amz. I also vaguely remember posting here before but that was when I was first starting out with forums and I was a member of like a dozen boards during that phase. Silly me.

i belonged to an anime forum starting in september 2001. even though i was mostly watching anime in those days i found that at the anime forum i was mostly talking about non-anime movies, so about a year later i googled "movie forum".
Instead of having to find someone to discuss movies with after I've just watched one, I can just jump on here and get opinions. That I've gotten some great recommendations.

I used to just look at the movie forums at comcast.net but I couldn't register for some reason. I got really tired of not being able to post, so I looked for a sight a could joined.
Found one that was more for free links to watching movies online. I found threads for my favorite films and posted what I thought. Got to like ten and was accused of over-posting.
Then, I found MoFo and you're not getting rid of me now. ;)
Or simply because I love movies.

Why did you join this forum?
Cause the .Org sucks. They talk and bitch alot about this place, but funnily enough I found the qualities they accuse this place of having in fact are displayed by them. Lets just say when tested their loyalty is nonexistent, and nobody supported them more openly and loudly than I. Anyway Destiny told me about this site (Thanks again Lisa).

The BBC Movies boards were going slowly down the swanny and I wanted somewhere with less eejit activity.
This place was the first which popped up when I googled 'movie forums' and it took me all of 5 minutes grazing around it for me to register. ;)
When they finally closed I'm really glad that the likes of Christine (who I think came before the Beeb stopped breathing) and Thursday had been able to find this place - links and emails were a no-no on the BBC boards. It's just a shame that my final post there got deleted before more could read it. :)

Aside from the obvious (I like movies), I'm a member of another movie message board, but I really don't like the vibe there. I can't even describe what exactly it is about that board I don't like, but it was enough to make me want to look for another movie board to post on. So I came here.

I wasn't that huge of a film fan until early 2008. Sure, I liked films, but I didn't watch them as often or watched any decent movies that came out before 2000.
I had started getting into film and wanted to learn more about them so I googled "movie forum" and what do you know. I really do like it here, a lot of nice members and people with good film tastes. And, I recently got NetFlix, so all is well with the movie world.
I enjoy movies of course, but I really wanted a place where I could hear what others like and see if others like the sort of movies that I enjoy.

Two reasons, #1 to ask a question about an old movie I saw (which turned out to be Guyver II, answered swiftly by Genesis_Pig :)) and #2 to find a replacement for another forum I was a staff member of for a few years before being banned. Don't ask. >_>
I like the feel of this site so far however so hopefully I don't go anywhere soon! Love discussing movies with other film buffs.
Holden Pike.
Please respond more, Holds. I'm going to respond in the Little Big Man thread why it's obvious that Chief Dan George knowingly played two different characters in Little Big Man and The Outlaw Josey Wales. It really sounds like something I'd like to discuss. I guess I'll post it tomorrow if I have to. Yes, it's my anniversary now , but Brenda is doing some things I cannot do right this sec. We are celebrating our anniversary at home, especially since it was Brenda's idea. She will be home soon. HA!
But Holds, respond, since Little Big man is your number one of 1970 (your birth year), and it's also my fave of that year.
