Anyone know of a good theater/complex in Norcal area? I might be heading up north this weekend for some fesitivities, and I may want to catch a flick while I'm there on my recommendation :D
Milpitas, San Jose, Silicon Valley, Fremont area is the locality I will most likely be around. Plus, do you guys know of any nice areas to chit-chat afterwards?
Thanks for any assistance guys. BTW, it doesn't have to be a mainstream AMC-type theater either, it can be an independent, liberal, whatever...

lo and behold, you are coming to MY area, tiredoftraffic!
San Jose: Has the old time dome theaters, split in half, along Winchester/Stevens Creek Blvd. Those are Century Theaters (Cinedome). These have a mix of mainstream and "culture" flicks. Downtown San Jo has a couple arty films/theaters - for listings, visit yahoo.com, and from their little menu find "Movies" and just type in San Jose, Ca ... AMC Saratoga is moving a bit north of San Jo and will give you things like Gosford Park mixed in with a bit of mainstream Black Hawk Down, etc.
Fremont: The 880 Freeway bosts an AMC megaplex off of Alvarado/Niles (Union City) and another one further down closer to Milpitas/Fremont or some such.
And if you literally want to be one freeway exit down from where I live, take your butt to AMC Mercado, in Santa Clara, right by 101 (bit tacky sign and everything) - take the Great America Parkway exit. That's a pretty mainstream theater and I warn you - if you go on a weekend it WILL be crowded, parking WILL be hard to find and you may end up in a bad mood because of it. That's just the way it is around here. All the kids end up going to the same place to hang out since the mall is so far away ...
You can find times driving directions via friendly URLs like:
www.amctheaters.com and www.centurytheaters.com
If you want to find something more arty you can also find it via Palo Alto/Mountain View's smaller theaters but I don't go there much. Once again, Yahoo can help you out ...
... PS - it's VERY silly of you to come here considering how much you hate traffic ... ;)

wow, thanks for the descriptive response, thmilin!! And, Spudracer, all you could do was "Have you checked Citysearch.com?" :p I'm kiddin', I'm very appreciative of your help.
I'm actually like driving nowadays, so I don't think traffic will kill me this time. But the Palo Alto area is probably crawling with annoying Tree people aka Cardinals, so I'd probably try to avoid that area.
Is anyone else from this area? Like The Commish, Sades, Spud...? Do you guys ever have Mofo GTGs? I think it would be cool to match a person to a screen alias. I go to Audi GTGs and drives all the time with fellow Audi/German car enthusiasts, and I met most of those people in a forum similar to this. I think most of you guys are pretty smart, intelligent people, so it would probably be pretty cool. But then again, sometimes I'm not too bright so my perception could be totally off :D
Thanks for the continued help!

Well,
Chris(TWT) lives in Pennsylvania, I live in Kansas, and Sades lives in Cali.

gasp! you have a problem with Cardinals! i'm one of em, I take offense to that!
nah, not really. i could care less. my bf is a Cal bear (Berkeley), mwahahah!
Palo Alto/Mountain View/San Jose - my friend, this entire area is Silicon Valley. you will encounter Dockered yuppies in VW Jettas, BMWs, Audis and everything else no matter WHERE you go in this area and they will just as easily be from some tech university as Stanford. snootiness and money and egos are EVERYWHERE. blech. Starbucks abound, fufu coffee/tea drinkers are everywhere ... it's all very sad. so, everyone's annoying, not just the Stanfordians.

:D Oh! I so hear this, thmmie. I live in this little, itty, bitty town and we are getting the Bay Area Invasion! We have two Blockbusters and two Starbucks...and a population of about 10,000. Is THAT even necessary?
Yep, Spud summed it up quite well: we're all over the damn place. A few of us have talked about meeting up, but nothing's come of it yet. You never know, though. Seeing as how both Miriam and Sades are in California, though, and Toose is in Texas, I imagine it'd have to be somewhere out west if it were ever to happen. I think Steve's moving to Texas, too. Anyway, I think we're all sort of just playing it by ear.

Hahahahha... you're a Cardinal? That's cool, I have no problem with that, although I would've thought that with your literary style, which would make an extreme right-winger cringe, throw-up and die, would make you more the Cal Bear than a Tree :) It's cool your BF goes/went to Cal, it's a good school w/ good professors and good herb :D. But just like any good school it also has it share of *in SNL Antonio Banderas parodical voice* ....what do you say, ahhhhh yesss.... snobs. Heh, I once got into some words with Chelsea Clinton at a UCLA-Stanford b-ball game; not big words but words.
And hey, what's with the knock about the "Audi's and BMW's?" Didn't I just tell you prior that I drove one?.... Well, I certainly don't drive like a yuppie driver that's for sure, since I like to whip that turbo up and throttle it through any twisted canyon I see. THank ya for the feedback!

Man, you guys really have a problem w/ Starbucks and Blockbusters don't ya? At one time - well, I live in the city - in a one mile radius, I think I had 4 blockbusters and about 6 Starbucks near to me, and they were all pretty much packed with people - go figure. That's not including the Hollywood Video's, the Coffee Bean's and the other video, chicken and bagel joints in the area. Where do ya live, Sades? Sounds like Solvang or something. Btw fellas, I'm over in the San Fernando Valley area about 15 minutes from Santa Monica/LA.

I was about to triple post, but then I felt bad and went back and decided to revise. I'm used to giving each individual their own response :) Funny how all the responses fell in just as I finished my post response to Thmilin.... But, yeah, Commish, it seems it would have to be out West, but playing it by ear could work... Kansas, Penn, that's all so far. Funny thing is I can never picture myself in those parts of the country since I always need to be near an ocean - it's a personal preference :D
