AmnityVille Horror Boxset, The (DVD, both Amnityville horro films.)

I think you've almost turned Amityville into Enmityville... which would be hilariously ironic!

Other than that though anyone who likes The Shining enough to buy it in two formats is okay with me :)

I thought it was Amnity. It's Amity, is it? I'm hoping when Blu-ray's cheaper, much much cheaper to maybe replace the best films in my collection(by best I mean, my favourites.)

Sir Toose
01-06-09, 04:22 PM
It's Amity... means friendship. Enmity means ill will and hostility :)

That aside, can you notice a difference between DVD and HD DVD versions of old films? I'm still buying DVD and haven't even looked at the step upward.

Pedz
01-06-09, 04:35 PM
You can can see a differance, well I can. It's not massive, but it is a better picture. I've noticed HD has been a bigger visual jump for console more than films. Anyway, to you question, yes, the is a clear visual step up.

Pedz mate fair play you have a decent amount of films there.

Pedz
01-06-09, 05:00 PM
Yeah, it's OK. I need to grab some more though. I only grab "The Eye" the otherday dude, pretty damn good I thought. As long as you like or don't mind subs it's worth a watch. I'm fine, my anime is preffered with subs, instead of dubs.

n3wt
01-06-09, 05:02 PM
Cool I do find subs quite anoying being dislexic lol but I do find them bareable in some movies.

Thanks for posting your list because that reminds me that I have to show my daughter Sarah Conan the Barbarian. I recently showed her Excalibur for the first time, and I need to show her this cool Conan film and Dragonslayer too. Conan the Barbarian may have my second favorite musical score, just after Days of Heaven. Of course, I'm a sucker for Holst's The Planets.

Has Sarah ever seen Ladyhawke?

mark f
01-06-09, 10:17 PM
Thanks, Caity! I'll add Ladyhawke too. I've been giving Sarah a course in Film Watching (first), Film History (second) and Film Appreciation (third) for about five years now, but if she goes to New York to college, I won't have so many opportunities, so I have until September to cram in quite a few movies and discussions. (There's still a chance she'll go to school here in So. Cal., and then I'd have more time... )

I'm telling you all... time flies. Sarah was just a little baby a couple of eyeblinks ago.

I've heard that Pans Labyrinth is great, not seen the mist. Though, I read a little on it when ordering it, and it seems the general consensus is to watch it in black and white, it's meant to be much better. Anyone care to clarify with that?

I havent seen it in black and white, ive seen it in colour and it is a great film. From what I understand it is the book down to a tee.

Got a some stuff to add, not loads, but some.

Firstly, I got rid of the Alien and Predator Boxset (it was sealed and I gave it away to my mother) and replaced it with the Alien and Predator Total Destruction Boxset, which has the newest AVP on it (It's better than the first AVP, and was only £12ish.)

Secondly, I got Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Blu-ray, which I imported from the US. It works on my PS3, because the disc is not region locked. I got the US version, over the UK, because from what I've read, the UK version, has less special features. Also, T:TSCC is just awesome. Can't wait to get Season 2 on Blu-ray.

I also, grabbed a few other films, Children of Men, Clerks X, Drop Dead Fred and The Exterminator on DVD. I also got Derailed, Pride & Prejudice and Pulse on HD DVD, and finally Oceans Eleven and TMNT on Blu-ray

Not a lot to add, but a few things.

I wouldn't have added Clueless, however, as his list includes the following, I thought it might be something of interest. Of course, if these are a wife/partners choice, then maybe that needed to be said before.

Bring it on (DVD.)
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. (DVD.)
Coyote Ugly (DVD.)
Cruel Intenstions Boxset (DVD, contains all 3 films.)
Dirty Dancing (Blu-ray.)

Drop Dead Fred (DVD.)
Drew Barrymore Boxset (DVD, contains Perfect Catch, Never Been Kissed and Ever after.)
