I was curious as to the make up of MP3 players owned by Movie Forums members. So answer the poll, chat about MP3 players, gripe about your player, or gush about how awesome it is. Go, chat!!
P.S. For the poll, pick the MP3 player you use the most if you have more than one.

I had an iPod Classic once upon a time... :p
I've got an iPod Touch. I'd wanted one for awhile, and the battery on my former iPod (the "classic," though it wasn't called that when I bought it) wasn't holding much of a charge anyway. I made myself wait and save for a good 9 months and finally bought it a couple months ago.
Couldn't be much happier with it. The WiFi is a blast and, apart from just being really slick and pretty, the interface really does help me find certain songs and artists a lot faster than I was able to before. It's a very well thought-out interface.
A nice, unexpected result of buying it is that it makes otherwise tedious tasks fun, so I actually keep up with them. For example, I bought a little $2 program to track a budget. This is exactly the kind of thing I think about doing, but either don't do, or don't do for very long. Jury's still out on the latter, of course, but so far I've been quite thorough about it for the last two months or so, because it's actually pretty enjoyable to enter the transactions into the program.

I own an iPod Nano, but I can't get the bastard to work so I guess I don't really use it.
I own an iPod Touch. I've had it for awhile now, so it's pretty durable. Its design is pretty nice - sleek and flat, so it's easy to carry around. Also, it's very user friendly.

Everyone in the family but me has a Shuffle, and they get heavy use. I got a Zune for Christmas because I wanted something to put video on and it was affordable. I'm not sure I like it yet. It seems easy to use, but the size is somewhat unwieldy, the earbuds are uncomfortable, and I didn't get a carry case for it yet. I'll get back to you after a couple of weeks to let you know if I like it better when I've used it some.

I love my Zune, and the screen size, as well. Mine is the . . .

80 GB digital media player stores up to 20,000 songs, 25,000 pictures or 250 hours of video
Features wireless Zune-to-Zune sharing so you can swap tracks and other media
Big, bright, 3.2-inch LCD color screen
As far as the headphones go, I just traded them out with my others that I like better.
I have close to 100 movies on mine, from that website that Toose posted along time ago. Night of the Living Dead being my favorite. You can also reformat for free, music videos that you get from You-tube, any videos, for that matter, and load them to it.
What I hate, is that the newer ones come with many games. I'm hoping, but doubting, that I can download that option somewhere.
I love my iPod Classic it goes everyone with me.

I love belonging to the 'other' category.

I use an 8GB iPod Nano in the car. It can't hold even a tenth of the music I have on my computer, but I do like it a lot. Don't really understand the iPod backlash I hear rumblings of from time to time. I've owned three iPods and they've all been amazingly durable and very easy/convenient to use.

I got an iPod shuffle for X-mas, holds quite a few songs for it's size.

I use an 80gig black ipod video with in ear noise reducing Sennheiser headphones. I have around 70gig of music on my computer so it's nice to carry it all in my pocket; only problem is deciding what to listen to.

I had an iPod Mini a few years ago but iTunes did my head in (thanks to Rockbox I changed the firmware but the thing was only 4GB so it didn't hold much) so I bought a little Archos 20GB player in the Sales 12 months ago.
To be honest, I don't use it much - I live alone, my neighbours appear to be deaf and I have proper quality speakers on my PC so it's a bit redundant. ;)
i love my zune and wouldn't trade it for anything..not even a ipod touch could make me this happy!!! i do listen to what the hubs has on his iTunes library...

I have the 80GB iPod Classic. Not an Apple fan in general, but as far as music players go, the iPod is the way to go. Still dislike iTunes and the proprietary crap Apple does with syncing, etc....but I like the actual iPod itself.
I had to buy a separate program ($40, but worth it) to rip my DVDs to the iPod....which came in VERY handy on the many long flights I had to take this year. (I am phobic about flying, so having the distraction of constant movie comedies and TV shows was a godsend, and the screen is amazingly clear.)
I have every album I own on this thing, plus a bunch of movies now, and I still have only half the thing filled up. And I have a lot of CDs....
I'm about to order a turntable/CD-recorder combo unit this week ... and I'll be able to get out all my vinyl and get it into digital form. It'll all eventually go onto the iPod. Can't WAIT for that! I have some stuff on vinyl I haven't been able to hear in years (no working turntable right now)....

I actually hate the earbuds that come with the iPod, but I plan to find ones I like and just swap them out.
In fact, can anyone recommend good earbuds that are "skinny" and fit into the ear canal a little bit? The "fatness" of the earbud part of the iPod kind are too wide/big for my ears and after a minute they always fall right out.
THANKS for any suggestions (pictures help, too).

I recommend a set of Shure IEM (in-ear monitors). I have a pair of Shure E2c (http://www.amazon.com/Shure-E2c-Sound-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B0000CE1UO) (the price might be steep, but that's their cheapest pair) and they are simply fantastic. They block out a very large portion of ambient noise, which allows me to listen to music at a lower volume and also hear it in excellent quality. I have my iPod volume locked at about 60% and I've never had a problem with outside noise, even when I'm doing outside chores with the lawnmower, leaf blower, etc. I recommend them as an investment to save your hearing (if you still have any left ;)), and they have a two year warranty, BTW. Top notch!

Yikes, that is a bit steep ... although the shape looks right. (Do they stay in your ears better than the iPod "fat" bud type?)
I don't think I use the iPod enough to justify a cost this high, but that's got the right idea. I've seen similar-shaped ones at Staples for about $15 -- about my price range for this item, since I use regular padded headphones if I'm at home -- but was unsure if they really will stay in my ears better than the iPod buds.

These things actually go in the ear canal vs. Apple's that just sit outside the canal. They come with small, medium, and large plugs to adjust to different size ears. They won't go anywhere once you put them in. I bit the bullet on the price and was glad I did. The quality is top notch, they're comfortable, and I will be using them for a very long time.
