Or spelling them right? I gave up reading after about 10.

Anyway, n3wt, it sure is a big collection though pretty weak (no offence). It's pretty much entirely compromised of Western mainstream offerings and has almost no diversity or range. I don't even particularly remembering seeing any 'classics' and about one foreign language film. And for that i'd rate it quite low as it doesn't really illustrate a movie fans collection, just someone spoon-fed multiplex offerings.

As an aside, there's a great website (well, used to be before the re-designed it) called www.dvdaf.com i believe. A lot of members use it and it's a great way to catalogue your DVDs. My collection is linked there in my sig.

Cheers for you view its true that there allot of western mainstream movies as it is what I enjoy and watch on a regular basis. I have allot of movies on video that I havent repaced to DVD yet such as western's with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Im not going to add them to the list as it would go on forvever. I also havent replaced my Arnie collection which consists of, True Lies, Commando etc.

I find mysef as a massive movie fan as I appriciate every aspect of movies, like Directing, Producing and ofcourse Story not to mention the choice of actors. For instance I really dislike Will Farel but I have at least two of his movies as I enjoy the movie.

My DVD collection is a work in progress as there are hundreds of movies that I love that arent in it yet.

Obviously i mean it as constructive criticism, since you did put your list out there for comment. I could think of plenty of films i wouldn't mind recommending that would probably suit your tastes and be actually good and made with affection, not for pure commercial profit as many of yours are. You say you appreciate the different facets of film making but the majority of your films don't really highlight the talent out there.

my god dvdaf is confusing! i can't figure out how to add a movie

Mmm, the new format is a bit annoying, mainly because now you can only add one movie at a time. There should be a search box towards the top, you type the movie (has to be very accurate) assuming that's the term you want to use to search with (not actor, director etc), find the right version, tick the box then 'move to collection' at the top.

The Blackadder Collection is a superb gift. It's one of those things that I keep meaning to buy myself, but just never get around to it. Maybe because they're on tv so often that I can justify buying something else? Who knows.

I've loved looking at what others think of your list N3wt, I might do the same sometime. Although, a quick glance tells me that I'll not have seen a good many of them.

The Blackadder complete collection is £35 on play.com but ive seen it in Tesco for £30, which is well worth it as you get series 1-4 plus the christmas carol and Blackadder back ad fourth. Its a real sweet boxset also...

The four films in red are awesome mate you should definatly check them out. Especailly "Silence of the lambs"

The one's in red are the one's he's not going to/has already seen, n3wt. And, for the record, Silence Of The Lambs is not awesome. It's ok, but not awesome. It's a bit like Good Morning, Vietnam, in as much as you think it's really good, but actually, it's just the Robin Williams dj bits that are good, the rest is pretty crap. SotL isn't as bad as that, but it's the scenes with Lector and Starling that really work, the rest is fairly ordinary.

Secondly to say Silence Of The Lambs is "OK and Ordinary" is absoulute madness it is a classic and it is a great movie. I think you should sit down and put up your top 10 movies so we can see what floats your boat.

Watched The Exterminator last night and really enjoyed it, I love finding movies that I havent seen before and enjoying them its great.

My mum-in-law had two copys of Season one of Pushing Daisy's so I bought one of them off her. I remember hearing something about it when it was on tv a while back but I didnt watch it. From what ive heared and read it sounds great.


...Its a story of Ned, a lonely pie maker whose touch can reanimate the dead. Cool, but theres a hitch. If Ned touches the person again, the miricle is reversed. If he doesnt, a by stander goes toe's up. What to do? Easy: Team up with a private eye, bring murder victims back just long enough to discover whodunit, and collect the rewards. Things go well untill Ned's boyhood sweetie is the next dear departed, and he cant resist bringing her back for keeps!

Dig the wit, style and quirky romance: If your not laughing, you may need a visit from Ned.


It does sound like a good laugh, Ill post up what I think of it when weve watched afew episodes.

Asda is great for cheap DVD's I pick afew up whenever we go, you can get some great movies from there.

But to get the best selection of movie's you definatly need to go to a bigger store.

I always thought Zavvi was great, you can get 5 DVD's for £30 with a fair bit of good films. I came out of there before with some good films and the best thing was there was a few boxsets included, for £30, I had 12 or more films, not bad at all.

I consider Whoopi Goldberg to be Satan. My reason being that it's the only explaination for the fact that she won an Oscar for her role in Ghost. Her winning would be extraordinary. Possible but extraordinary. The same for someone winning an Oscar for Ghost. But for the two to come together is impossible. Not in a hundred year storm way impossible, but an actual physical impossibility. Therefore, supernatural forces must've been at work and, for something of this magnitude, it'd have to be the Dark One himself (and I don't mean Batman.) I don't see any reason for him to do this though. Thus, the only way it could happen, is if she were Satan.

You see, simple when it's explained to you isn't it?

I also have a theory that, like Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare On Elm Street, if everyone ignores her/Him, she'll/He'll go away. I've been spreading the word for many, many years now and, so far, her/His appearances have diminished, but it's a hard, long battle and, of course, by spreading the word she/He stays around. However, if we can alert everyone, then we can stop and she'll/He'll disapear. That's the theory anyway.

Not a big fan of Craig or Bond, I'm afraid. Craig's a good actor, but I find he has almost zero screen presence and, unless it's Roger Moore, it ain't Bond for me. I can't take Bond seriously so, unless it's gimmicky and camp, I'm not buying it. I think Goldeneye was the most recent Bond I've seen. I quite liked The Bourne Identity though, (or "American Bond" as I call it) so I'm not adverse to seeing the new Bond films. It's just that I'm not had a reason to yet.

Totally agree I love the first installment of The Candyman series is awesome, I picked it up as it was £2 in ASDA where I went to get American Dad so another of my VHS have been upgraded lol

I find updating the list is fine but I also add what dvd ive bought in a post so my fellow mofoers can see what has be put on the list. I was under the impression that you could have your own thread based on your collection and you could update it and post init???

I have to say since joining this site I have watched more and collected more awesome dvds that for some reason I havent seen before, ie The Godfather Trilogy and from watching these and many more dvds/movies I have a whole new top 100 favorite movies, so im going to have to get on with it and add it to he site :D

I do agree with you I have got allot of movies and they are western mainstream movies but thats what I like but as ive said in my previous post is that since joining here ive seem more films that have been recommended to me, and also I have been seeing quite a few foreign films. I would like to see what your collection consists of to see what a "Not Weak" collection looks like. But from what ive heard you have multiple accounts so you maybe lieing about what you have or even seen. There is no need imo to have multiple accounts...

My DVD Collection has gone through a change recently, I have gone through it and gotten rid of quite afew of the trash films that I have managed to get in it from buying Joblots of films etc. My lil sis was very happy when I turned up with a large bag filled with these films that I shouldnt really have in it :rotfl: So in the next week or so im going to get my new improved dvd collection list uploaded here for you all to tell me how rubbish it is :D

One question that I have is shall I change the list in the start of this thread or start another? could someone please advise, I thought maybe a new thead start afreash if you will, but just thought I'd ask :):up:
