The Predictions for 2009 Game

What major events or small events (whatever) do you think will take place in 2009? It will be fun to look at the results during and after 2009.


I think Obama will become the official president. :D
We will see a new Star Trek film.
A man might get killed on Black Friday like the one previously was.
The war in Iraq will end.
The stock market will remain fragile.
The prices on gas will lower.
Blu-Ray Discs will take over DVDs like DVDs did to VHS (they stopped making them).
The new Star Trek film will receive a 30% ranged (or below) grade on Rotten Tomatoes.
The entertainment studios will take HD to a new level.
There will be a major UFO sighting. :eek:
We will find a new species.
We will hear from the Atom-Smasher again. :rolleyes:
I will DEFINITELY still be on Movie Forums (even past 2009.)
We might see some updates on Movie Forums. ;)

2009 will happen and many people will say the same things as they have forever.

This is not flippant at all for any believers, but Jesus will not come. That will make about 1980 years where true believers have been disappointed.

I love Jesus, as well as most all of you because you have lived the same human life. :cool: Sorry. This isn't a religious post. This is a "what won't happen this year" post. :)

Man, how dumb would mark look if Jesus did come this year?

I'm not putting hoards of thought into this list, so I could be really, really off, but here are a few things I think will happen in 2009 (sorry, Vertical, for disagreeing with you on a few points):

Gas prices will go back up. Not steeply, but up.
Fox and WB will reach some cash-related settlement and Watchmen will be released on-time, or nearly so.
Blu-Ray will maintain a glacial adoption rate and more people will start to wonder whether or not it's really the Next Thing.
The economy will continue to sputter. A misguided stimulus bill will pass, but will not kickstart things as expected.
Some significant number of U.S. troops will be Iraq for the entire year.
Apple will unveil a new larger iPod Touch, which will be intended as an all-around portable media and gaming device. It will compete with the Sony PSP and other similar products.That's all that comes to mind for now. I look forward to gloating about 2 or 3 of these and pretending the others never happened.
