I was on a couple of other forums and i discoverd the fact that they have awards for members at the end of the year. So i decided that it would be good to have one of this forum. Here are the 2008 sections:

Best Member
Worst Member
Best Moderator

Movie Fanatic Award
Most Interesting Member
Funniest Member

Member least likely to follow the rules
Most improved
Unimproved
Most knowledge

Who decides? Well just make your post. So you pretty much decide.

I'm hovering over the 'lock thread' button on this one because it has the potential to go awry.

What possible good can this do other than perhaps ingratiate and/or alienate some users to others?

In my opinion, there are already many ways in place to let someone know what you think of them that are less incendiary in nature.

I'm going to bring this up to the other mods just to see if I'm off base in my fears but personally I don't like these popularity contests.

And by the by, Vertical Gunn, your not liking 7thson for whatever reason hardly makes him the worst member. Your apparent inability to discriminate which would be the best avenue to take up your grievances coupled with your arrogance in actually labeling a very well respected member 'the worst' is all the way under my skin at the moment.

We did this back in '04, and it went pretty well. However, we attempted to stick to categories that didn't put people in a negative light. In other words, no "worst member" or anything like that; it just seemed a bit too much like character assassination.

Anyway, for most knowledgeable, the clear-cut winner, regarding film, anyway, should be Holden Pike, with Mark F. taking the photo-finish second trophy...

I appreciate the nod, Gunn, but I have nothing on these guys...

It can work, but someone has to do the organizing (I think Delilah and Darcy (not Ms. Darcy) handled it last time.

When it comes to "most improved" member, I don't think anyone can touch Meatwadsprite.

Anyway, I think I'll be largely uninterested namely because I'm not exactly award-winning material.

I've never got the point of things like this. People I (and everyone else) respect know I respect them because of the rep button, if one wants to look at the ramifications of this then head to the post ratings section.

Well 7thson I posted for the worst member was in my humble opinion. I have nothing against him.

You say you "have nothing against him" but call him "the worst member in my humble opinion".

Riiiiight.
