I feel very good about this week.

If anybodys interested in Elizabeth Hasselbecks sisters husband I kicked him to the curb.

I'm evenly matched this week and am feeling hopeful. I need a win.

Hasslebeck is most likely out this week. Our (when I say our I mean my home team Seattle Seahawks our) backup is also hurt so everyone should make a run for Charlie Frye... I can't even type that with a straight face much less think it. But for anyone needing an emergency start this week you could probably do worse. Probably.

Also just an FYI Tongo its Matt's brother that is banging little Lizzy not Matt. If anyone cares.

I'm a little torn again, although these are all good problems to have. Hasslebeck is out so do I go with my bench player Julius Jones thinking that he'll have a big day against a piss poor Green Bay team at home? I just ain't feeling it, Green Bay will stack the box and Make Charlie Frye beat them. I'm going to have to stay with my meat and potatoes dudes and hope for the best.

Turner has been excellent at home so far but this week will be his first real test against Chicago.

Dman, I love Football!

With Ben on a bye, I've been struggling with a single decision all week long: do I keep/startstart Matt Schaub, or Matt Cassel? So many pros and cons.

Schaub: I'd rather have him for the rest of the year. He's owned in more leagues. He's going up against Miami. The Texans aren't going to be looking at going to his backup again anytime soon unless they have to. BUT...he was out last week. And by playing Slaton, too, I'm putting a lot of eggs in the Houston basket this week.

Cassel: going up against the truly terrible San Diego pass defense, and is still on a good team with some great targets. Had a good game last week, too. BUT...he's still quite an unknown, and a lot of people expected SD to be a lot better than this defensively, so it might be a bit of a fluke.

I held onto Schaub all week long, but went with Cassel about 15 minutes ago. Very tough call; we'll see how it turns out.

Also struggled with whether or not to start Addai, who's up against Baltimore's defense. My potential replacement was Fred Taylor, though, and Addai is still as likely as not to punch a TD in from the 1, so I had to start him anyway.

By the by, the fact that I'm relying on a backup QB this week is pretty ominous, what with me playing Bobby. Bobby's got Romo, who every fantasy expert expects to have a huge week against Arizona.

I lucked out (though I'm not happy about it) with Lee Evans though; Bobby's starting him, even though he's on a bye this week. I emailed him about it a few days ago, but I think he's probably pretty busy these days. Here's hoping that, if I win, I win by enough for it not to matter. Wouldn't want to win because of something like that. :nope:

Bad news Yods, Addai just went out and it appears will not return... Sorry to be the first to tell you if you don't know already.

Btw, I think your Cassel move will be a good one.

Yoda

Yeah, I had the Indy-Baltimore game on in the background and heard Addai was out. Slaton has a pretty mediocre first half, too, and Calvin Johnson has just one catch. Toss in the fact that Carolina's given up 17 first-half points and has no sacks or turnovers, and I could have a rough time of it.

But yeah, Schaub threw two picks right away and has just 4.4 points in the first half, so the switch to Cassel will probably end up being the right call. Can't say I like my overally chances right now, though.

We'll see, I got a feeling Dallas isn't going to have as big a day as the so-called experts think. Ideally for me would be 3 Barber TD's and everyone else can stink it up. So for your sake let's hope so, Eh? :p

Meh. I went to pickup Rhodes as a handcuff, but wasn't sure about the rules with roster spots and the like during games, so I hesitated, and Rick beat me to it. So it's pretty important that Addai's injury not last beyond this week...

Sed's might break 200 today.

Yoda
10-12-08, 04:19 PM
Possible, but 7 of his 9 starters are already in the 4th quarter, and his biggest scorer (Manning) isn't likely to throw another pass. So even if he breaks 100 as the 1 PM games end, he'll have just Gore and Scobee the rest of the way, making even 140 a long shot.

Always funny to look at the scoreboard and see such wildly different scores. Bobby and I have only combined for 28.6 points so far, but most of our big names are playing at 4 or later.

Dammit! I made a statistical move and subbed Delhomme for O'Sullivan because he's had huge success against them in the past. Not working out.

I could be in some trouble here. I'm sure everyone feels sorry for me.

Obviously it was a no brainer and you should have plyed Schaub Yods... Let that be a lesson to you. :D

Might have spoken too soon about Schaub...after throwing two INTs right off the bat, he's come roaring back and has put up almost 27 points. D'oh. That'll be hard for Cassel to match, though if he gets 18-20 I'll still be awfully pleased.

EDIT: beat me to it. Gah. Real happy for him, though; the Texans are a lot better than their record has indicated.

WOW!!! What a finish to the Chicago/Atlanta game. No TD's for Turner but Elam made up for it with a 19 point day! Love that!

Anyway, you're up 103 to 87 right now.

Nice job today Shark's, I couldn't win now unless Barber gets about 2 more TD's in 1 minute... and you've still got 2 more guys left to play. It could very well be an old fashioned ass whoopin' when its all said and done.

Well, I definitely made the wrong call between Schaub and Cassel, though it's really stunning how poor the latter was against even the weak SD pass defense. And now they've even taken him out in the 4th quarter. You'd think they'd want him to get some low-pressure work in down 27, but apparently not.

To have any chance now, I have to hope the Giant defense only manages a point or two on Monday night. Not likely. The Schaub/Cassel thing was a REALLY tough decision that I went back and forth on all week. I went against my gut and it looks like coming down on the wrong side will end up costing me the win. Gah.

RB Brandon Jacobs

WR Amani Toomer
(NYG - WR) @Cle Mon 5:30 pm estimate = 8.84

So far so good for you, TONGO; Jacobs has 9.3 pts and Toomer doesn't have any.

Looks like I might pull out a win after all, what with the Browns hanging 20 on the Giants already. I'm clinging to a 5.28 point lead right now, so I could still lose this if New York comes up with a couple turnovers, a few sacks, and/or a defensive TD.

Either way, it's clear that Bobby not playing Braylon Edwards in place of Lee Evans (who's on a bye) will be the difference. I feel bad about that, but I did email him to let him know, so there wasn't really anything else to be done, unfortunately. Not the way I'd like to win, but that's how it goes.

Sedai

Edwards is considered one of the best WRs to play in the last 10 years. Regardless of his QBs previously abysmal start, you gotta play the guy! History suggests that, even with a struggling QB, elite WRs start putting up points as the season wears on, because they get focused and can make big plays. Weeks 6 is do or die for a lot of struggling teams, so they will be trying to execute big plays with their talent. Edwards had over 100 yards after catching only two passes in the first quarter. He went on to score over 20 points. Clearly, his shoulder is healed, and he and Anderson's drills with the flouro footballs have gotten them back on track!

I had ALMOST given up on Edwards in my other league, and had decided to bench him in week seven if he blew it again. Looks like he stays on my roster with Fitzgerald and Coles...

I am psyched my triple play of Bush, Gore, and Forte are carrying me through these early weeks inthis league!

Yoda
10-14-08, 11:37 AM
Aye. Having great RBs really does go a long way. Bush has been catching a ton of passes and Gore has been a monster, too. Probably not coincidentally, PW's romping with Portis as well. There's a revolving door of backs just below the top 3 or 4, and the ones rolling so far have pretty much carried their teams.

If Peyton is back to his old self, you'll roll through the rest of the season, too. Pretty big if, but you've got to feel good about him now.
