Alrighty Sports fans! It's time for another week of smack talk and ass kickin'!

I'm up against Sedai's mighty Replicant squad and we are both 3-0... somethings gotta give folks.

I say its him. Especially after all those ridiculous numbers his team put up last week.

In other games we have Darcy's Destroyers looking for her third win in a row win against the 11 Angry Men who are just looking to get back to 500 this week.

The Face Huggers (great team name btw) just need a victory at this point and are sitting at 0-3, they are up against The Sharks who are 2-1.

Expect the trash talk to be a flyin' in this next match up folks! As Slug's Bubblebutts will try to rein in Team TONGO and his little band of merry men. Both teams are sitting at 1-2 so it stands to reason that someone will be at 500 by the end of the day. I learned this kind of stuff in school.

Next is Tupac Resurrection (which would be really weird and probably gross too) against Boondock Skins, looks like a pretty close game to this reporter.

And last but not least we have the Bean Town Champs who may not ever truly recover from losing Tom Brady and desperately need a win. They are up against The Flying Mongooses who have been putting up some pretty solid numbers up until last weeks first loss of the season. Which insiders tell me is due in part to pay offs and back alley dealings. So it doesn't get any easier for Bean Town this week.

Just a head's up folks, a quick perusal of the match ups showed that a few of you haven't made any adjustments for the guys that are out this week for the bye's. You may want to get on that and I mean pronto!

Have fun everyone!

Good morning!

I am getting ready to watch some fantasy fix over at Rotoworld, and wanted to pop in and say good luck!

With my QB and TE on a bye this week, I need big numbers from my WRs and RBs today, and, as PW stated, I am due for a slow day in these sections after 3 weeks of crazy over-producing.

Good luck to all, and, may the best teams win!

Go bots!!!

And my team takes another hit for week 4...

Carson Palmer is NOT active today, sending Housh's value right into the toilet...

Bummer...

I am hoping my match-up based decision to play Royal at TE this week fills the Housh void...

I'll be adding top this as news comes up:

GB has announced that Ryan Grant is ready to take on his usual full role on the offense. Look for Grant to get at least 20 touches this week.

Yeah, I am not liking this rook QB helming the already rough CIN offense. I am giving Driver his shot today at WR1...

Slug must fall, and Tongo alpha dominance must be! Oh how did I get 1-2 (dropping Roy Williams -DOH!-) Last week was disturbingly bad, and this matchup is 2nd string week for me as alot of my teams on a bye. Grrrrrrr! Die Bubblebutts die!

Good to hear, on Grant, particularly with Addai on his bye week. Hopefully I'll get some production out of him at long last!

Gonna be missing Calvin Johnson, too, who's produced beyond what I'd hoped and is looking like a steal. He and Fitzgerald are 5th and 3rd in receiving yards, respectively.

I'm going to need Fred Taylor to get plenty of touches again this week, and hope Steve Slaton (who I picked up off waivers a few days ago) can put up some solid totals.

Thought about swapping defenses out, but I'm sticking with Pittsburgh. The Ravens offense isn't terribly impressive, after all, and the Steelers have a tremendous record on Monday night at home. I'm a little concerned about the Ravens defense, which figures to keep the Pittsburgh defense on the field quite a bit, but I'm probably overthinking on that particular point.

Sadly, a lot of my hopes are still pinned to Ben and Ward, and therefore the Steelers' offensive line, which was, well, offensive last week. Ben and Ward are top talents, so I'm really just hoping for average performances from the line from here on out. That'll be more than enough for each player to perform well.

Game on!

Good luck to all!

I think you are set up for a win this week, Chris, as Slaton will be a good play. It really is all about that Ravens/Steelers game.

Defensive showdown, but Pittsburgh should prevail. Should. Ravens when their defense is in the zone is second-to-none, and their offense has been their Kicker for 10 yrs.
Yoda I have Pitts Big Ben in another leaguelast week -1 points! -1! Oh what a horror. Sacked 8-9 times?!

Yoda
09-28-08, 01:53 PM
Yeah, it was horrendous. The only solace was that it wasn't even remotely his fault. If he gets even average protection, he'll produce. We shall see.

To bad I'm not getting the 49er/New Orleans game this week. Probably going to be a pretty fun game. And both Seds and I have two players each in said game. I get Bucs and Packers instead. That makes perfect sense seeing as how I live on the West Coast and all.

Yoda
09-28-08, 02:33 PM
Bucs/Packers here, too. Sedai was right: Grant's looking pretty good so far.

I'm losing right now.
TONGO is pulling away.
It's not pleasant at all.

Yoda
09-28-08, 04:54 PM
Grant started off looking pretty good, but has been stuffed a number of times and hasn't found the end zone. Meh. Looks like another poor week from him.

Nice day from Slaton, though. I'm going to have a tough decision between Slaton and Ward in the weeks ahead.

I'm up by about 5 points at the moment, which has me cautiously optimistic. If we're about even now, it means that Ben, Ward, Reed, and the Steeler defense have to roughly outscore Rivers, Holt, and Cooley. I'd say that's fairly likely, but certainly not a given.

Powdered Water
09-28-08, 05:15 PM
I'm within striking distance of Seds right now and I've still got a couple of pretty decent guys going in the next game. Thankfully he didn't play Coles today. He is sitting on his bench right now at a ridiculous 32 plus points!

I picked up Delhomme as a backup yesterday and I should have played him. Although I'm still pretty happy with O'Sullivan. This kid looks like the real deal.

Check out The Sharks this week for high score of 156. Nice job! Who's team is that anyway?

Yoda
09-29-08, 10:16 AM
Well, as it turns out, I need about 23 points from Ben, Ward, Reed, and the Pittsburgh defense.

I'd be a tad apprehensive, if not for the defense. Against a fairly poor Ravens offense, and at home, I have to imagine they're probably going to be good for at least a third of the deficit, meaning even sub-par days from the other three should be enough. Basically, if Pittsburgh can avoid last week's offensive disaster, I'll probably win. That's still a bigger if than I'm comfortable with, though. ;)

I just need 6 points out of Santonio Holmes tonight to nab the win. Counting on Holmes to produce in fantasy football is always a risky proposition and now doubly so because of the anemic Pittsburgh offense. Still, he should be able to scrape together 6 points.

Sedai
09-29-08, 04:59 PM
I am kicking myself for benching Housh... Made all the difference in my match... He didn't have a great day, but it was certainly better than Driver's...

Yoda
09-29-08, 09:41 PM
Here we go...as long as the offense and defense don't both suck tonight for Pittsburgh, I'm in a pretty good position. Game on.

Slug
09-29-08, 10:31 PM
I'm gaining on TONGO.
9 points will pass em.
It's going to be close.
I have only two receivers and both are not that great.
Come on, I need a win!

Yoda
09-29-08, 11:24 PM
Well, the Pittsburgh defense has played pretty well, but gave up a touchdown right before halftime largely on account of the offense giving away field position.

Ward hasn't caught a single pass and Ben hasn't been able to get anything going. Not good. This anemic offensive line could cost me a second game, and it's not hard to imagine it torpedoing my entire season if things don't improve. Yikes.

The only good news is that things don't have to be all that good in the second half for me to pull this one. But they do have to be better.

Sedai
09-30-08, 12:35 AM
Wow. I take a shower and put some laundry away, and when I come back, The Steelers are on fire... and Yoda has pulled way out in front!

Yoda
09-30-08, 12:46 AM
Aye, though they've given up 20 points, they've got 4 sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Ben made a few big plays (one of them to Ward), and that was more than enough. Slaton was a key pickup for me this week. Ironically enough, though, I barely settled on him instead of McClain, who you claimed, and he's put up 14 tonight, too, so it wouldn't have made a difference which one I went with.

Now that my game's in the bag, here's hoping the Steelers pull theirs out...

Yoda
09-30-08, 01:35 AM
Whew! Pittsburgh wins in OT. Tense game, but I'll take it.

Feeling pretty good about my team; survived a potentially tough bye week (sans Addai and Calvin Johnson) and Ben managed to put a solid game together all told. Got diddly squat from the RB position yet again; 6.7 pts from Taylor, and 0.6 from Grant.

I snagged Colston off the waiver wire last week, even though I don't expect I'll be able to play him for another 3-4 weeks. It's a risk, but I think it's a good one. I'm pretty sure I can spare the roster spot for a little while, and he could provide a huge second-half shot in the arm if can stay competitive over the next few weeks.

Then again, with the way Slaton is playing, I might face a tough choice as to which of them gets the W/R swing slot, but that's a problem I wouldn't mind having. And if Grant doesn't start producing, he might get bumped by Slaton, anyway.

Yoda
09-30-08, 01:51 AM
Just for kicks, here's the combined total for my starting RBs through four weeks:

Week 1: 14.4
Week 2: 12.3
Week 3: 24.7
Week 4: 6.7

Yikes. Particularly considering that 21 of the 24 points in week 3 were from Addai alone. I'd probably be 0-4 if not for the fact that the Steelers are 4th among all defenses, and Fitzgerald is 5th among receivers. Fitzgerald, by the by, has points more than Addai and Grant combined.

Swedish Chef
09-30-08, 01:59 AM
Well, Addai's gonna be more than fine. Especially if Peyton Manning is on the downside of his career. But watch Grant, because, yeah, he might just be a one hit wonder.

Yoda
09-30-08, 02:25 AM
Aye. Addai had one great week, one solid one, and one poor one, so he's been alright. Definitely worried about Grant, though. I've got Jackson to cuff him with, but I think there's a 50-50 chance I'm playing Slaton and Colston and sitting Grant come week 9.

I will get over my silly loss due to a bad bench move...eventually ;). Both PW's and my team underperformed big time this week, and I know we were both biting our nails on Sunday night. Such is the way of FFB! If I stayed with my starters, I would have won. :(

Alas, on to next week, and I get my QB back! Another seriously poor decision I made was dumping Delhomme for Griese. PW immediately snagged the back-up QB, and I started regretting my decision as soon as the games started. Delhomme is a really good QB, and Griese is not, I was playing the match-ups, usually the right move, but it backfired big time this week.

I have a WR on a bye this week, but that shouldn't affect me as much as losing my QB this past week.

I actually snagged a win with my so-called team of studs in my other league. I think I won 134 - 38. Zoinks!

Powdered Water
10-01-08, 09:48 PM
Yeah that Sunday night game was about as much fun I've had watching a game in quite some time.

And thanks for Delhomme btw, not to pour salt in the wound or anything but I badly needed a QB and I hope he'll fit the bill nicely. O'Sullivan is bound to cool of at some point and I think Ole Jakey will fill in nicely.

Oh, and what's with those horrific Steeler's Uni's? My god those really need to go back in the box. I'm sure those things alone were enough to keep the game as close as it was.

They were throwbacks; this is the first I've ever seen them. The Jets were wearing some odd duds, too.

I agree.

The Jets uniforms were blue, for crying out loud...
