...or a lunchtime...
Wanted: One willing MoFo (must have GSOH and own teeth) to share development and growth of popular discussion thread series with the promise of good times (and maybe more).
I'll lay it on the line, everyone - I'm lonely! :(
I've been doing clubs like this on various fora for ages but I've always had a partner-in-crime to bounce ideas off and take the strain when I'm not feeling up to it. Until this present incarnation of Movie Club, that is...
It struck me as a bit daft not including someone else, especially since the Club is an important part of the site these days, so what I'm proposing is this:
If you're interested in helping a guy out then throw me a PM stating your reasons why (in not more than 5,000 words *cough*) and, by way of a tiebreaker, a list of 5 movies from the last couple of months that you would include in the next poll. The only restriction here is the usual Movie Club one - all films must be available on DVD on both sides of the Atlantic. *
It's not a time consuming job (a few PMs/emails every 6 weeks or so, that's about it) but the amount of satisfaction it brings is almost legible. Honest! ;D
Think not of what Mofo can do for you but what you can do for MoFo...
* For those of you who feel that they may not have sufficient skills to complete the application, fear not for equal-opportunities Tatty is here - my Paypal address is available on request! ;)
Aye. Dave has done such a tremendous job keeping Movie Club going over the years, it's high time we took some of the weight off. Here's hoping lots of people are interested in taking this prestigious position, which counts against your community service, too (note: may not be true in the conventional sense of the word).
Or, if you have a rebel streak: Dave has been telling us which movies to watch for far too long! It's time for a change! Keep hope alive! Country first! Yes we can!
In all seriousness, we all owe a big thanks to Dave for his work with the Club, and I have total confidence that whoever he picks to help out will do a fine job. Looking forward to seeing how it all shakes out. :)

Well I've read through a lot of the previous discussions and found them to be very enjoyable (I was also a fan of most of the movie choices). I'd love to take on the role, but I doubt I've been around long enough to have earned the appropriate trust. ;)
Methinks Holden is going to sneak his way in here

Ermmm, Chris. They ain't taking over - I just want to turn a one man band into a double-team effort. A duocracy (if such a word exists), if you will. :)
It'll be like a marriage and as I've only gone through one wife in my life things look positive. ;)
D'oh. Sorry, I misspoke. Serves me right for posting before having my coffee. Apologies.
That said: c'mon, we all know you're on your way out, Dave. You could drop dead at any second. This new person will be a heartbeat from the Movie Club Presidency. What if something happens to you and they nuke Russia? It could happen.

F*ck it, i volunteer :)
(might look good on the CV)

Hmm, I haven't quite thought of it like that. Maybe I should have made the precondition that the new Movie Club Vice Captain (not in a Miami Vice context, but we live in hope) should be an expert in Moose assassination, or at the very least be on the PTA of a regional school....
Thanks to everyone who has PM'd. I'm not gonna reply to anyone at this stage just to keep things fair so those of you who know me (in a MoFo context, not a biblical one but, again, we live in hope...or do we?) please don't take offence. The big announcement/coronation/death sentance will be made in a day or two.
Remember, what I'm looking for is a quick (I was joking when I said 5,000 words - 3,000 will have to do ;D) paragraph proporting to why you want the position AND your sample 5 Movie Club Poll choices.
Not just one of the above - you know who you (plural) are! I need more from a few of you! :)

Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to announce that my new lackey ... ermmm ... Vice Captain is none other than Mr Powdered Water! :D
There were some quality applicants and I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to respond. :)
I look forward to working alongside Pow (I've been calling him that ever since I spotted the Batman suit in his wardrobe but he assures me he'll also answer to Alfred) and dragging the Movie Club into the 20th Century.
Expect the latest instalment very soon. ;)

I was really happy when Tatty told me I got all the answers right... I really wanted to win the car!

I've gotta break it to you that you haven't actually won a car. :(
The small print states that you've actually won the right to fuel mine for the next 12 months...
