It's Sunday!

Time to gear up for some grid iron action!

Make sure to check the injury wire today, all the way up until game time. Lots of game time decisions for stud players this week, so last minute roster tweaking is a must!

Good luck to all!

Good luck to you too Seds. This is pretty damn fun.

In what I'm sure will go down as one the biggest moves in fantasy history I'm replacing my 35 point man (Micheal Turner) from last week with Julius Jones this week. Seattle has literally NO receivers unless you count the guys they just signed from the soup kitchen this week and Mo Mo is out and they are playing their home opener this week.

Atlanta and "The Burner" are playing in Tampa Bay and I just don't believe that he is going to be able to pull off another 220 yard day with 2 scores. So this fantasy guru is betting that JJ is going to have a career day in his Seattle home debut. I'll either be made a fool or a king. Some might say that's the same thing but I digress.

I might add that Seattle is an excellent defensive team at home (usually) so whoever has them, this would be the time to play them. I don't think you'll see Frank Gore going for 200 yards and 3 TD's today. I hope. :D

Good call on Turner, as TB defense is much better than the softy Lions. Clark is out with a partially torn MCL, so I will have to run Rosario in my TE slot this week.

Mrs. Darcy
09-14-08, 12:33 PM
I've got the Seattle D, PW. And yes, I'm playing them against SF. It seemed like a good move. I've had a soft spot for Seattle since my Zorn and Largent days way back when.

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 12:39 PM
Zorn to Largent, jesus I'm getting old. Hey Darcy, did you know that Jim Zorn is the Head coach of the Washington Redskins this year? It was kind of out of the blue but I certainly hope he does well enough to keep his job and have some success.

Mrs. Darcy
09-14-08, 12:41 PM
That's awesome. I'll be checking him out. I think my mom still has my Zorn jersey stashed in her attic.

Mrs. Darcy
09-14-08, 02:24 PM
Crosby just got a PAT. I'm on the board! Finally...

My teams are getting killed already...

TONGO
09-14-08, 02:47 PM
I played Tampa over Minnesotta, but not as risky a switch as PWs.

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 02:54 PM
Did anyone else sign up for the Stattracker thing? It was only 10 bucks so I said what the hell.

Sedai
09-14-08, 02:59 PM
I always get Stattracker. Gotta have those live updates...

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 03:01 PM
If not let me know and I'll post some updates when I'm on during the day. I went to the regular fanatsy page after kick off and there was nothing so it appears you have to have it even if you just want to know the overall score of your particular game. So if no one else has it I would be more than happy to post some updates.

Slug
09-14-08, 03:11 PM
I'm drenched in sweat.
Eli Manning is kicking bootie.
Stat tracker is better than Taco Bell Hot sauce.
So far everything looks good!
The automatic updates are cool.
Makes the computer a little choppy when I shoot over to MoFo.
Good luck today everyone.
Out.

My QB and my 2 receivers are crap. I picked up Pennington but I'm not to sure if he's really any better.

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 03:19 PM
Chicago's defense on the other hand is kickin' it old school.

Sedai
09-14-08, 03:19 PM
I could come in 12th in scoring today. Super bad days for many of my players so far...

Sedai
09-14-08, 04:08 PM
Manning is killing me... 2 QB sneaks at the 1 yard line,... stuffed both times...

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 04:22 PM
It appears The Replicants are making their move.

Mrs. Darcy
09-14-08, 04:27 PM
Just got 11 points from Torry Holt. YES!

Me and Mongoose keep trading the lead.
Would anyone like to trade for Eli Manning?
Siiiike.

Maybe he's returning some video tapes.

Sedai
09-14-08, 05:48 PM
69.2 to 67 in PW's favor

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 06:02 PM
You just took a one point lead TONGO, nice close game. I still have Kellen Winslow and Marion Barber on deck though so if it stays close I'm hoping those two will put me over the top.

Score right now is TONGO=72... PW=71

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 06:03 PM
So far my Julius Jones gamble is paying off nicely.

Sedai
09-14-08, 06:21 PM
Sure looks like it...

Sedai
09-14-08, 06:31 PM
Darcy's team is kicking some ass today.

Guys - I see a lot of Houston and Baltimore players in line-ups. These two teams got the week off due to Hurricane Ike. Those people aren't playing this week...

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 06:34 PM
I thought I heard they're going to play on Monday? Is that not true?

EDIT: I see it was rescheduled for Nov. 9th, I guess their plan to try and get it in on Monday didn't work out.

Sedai
09-14-08, 06:45 PM
I think the game got rescheduled to Nov. 9th

Yoda
09-14-08, 07:44 PM
Hey Seds/everyone. Sorry, was out most of the day at the Pirate game.

Looks like Fitzgerald and Johnson came through huge for me so far, which is good because Grant and Addai let me down yet again (gah!). I have to imagine Addai will bounce back, but I don't see a huge year from him. Grant, on the other hand, could be real trouble. I might need huge years out of all my other starters now, if Grant doesn't pick it up.

Sedai
09-14-08, 07:51 PM
Oh, I cursed the Colts up and down today. They had my blood pressure up a few times...

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 07:54 PM
Grant should be fine. I can't believe Rodgers is going to keep putting up Favre like numbers all year. Of course though if you feel the need to drop him I'll happily trade you Chad Pennington for him. :p No, really, I would do that.

Yoda
09-14-08, 07:58 PM
I'll let you know. ;)

I hope you're right about Grant...he's having some hammy issues, though, and the Packers have plenty of decent backs to spell him, from the looks of things, so I'm a tad uncomfortable relying on him. But we shall see.

Some bad news, potentially: 50 MPH winds in advance of the Steelers-Browns game. Strong enough that it could limit the number of times they throw.

Stroke of luck, however, with The Face Huggers benching Chambers (22.3 pts) and Scheffler (20.2 pts) this week. Not that the latter was easily predicted or anything.

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 08:02 PM
And the Odd Squad moves back in front of the Tongonators... for good this time I says.

Looks like you should have gone with Warrick Dunn there Tongo, he's doing alright today.

Scratch that your guy just scored a TD so now you're back on top Tongo. Not for long I says.

Sedai
09-14-08, 08:10 PM
Well crap

I knew I should have benched Anderson for Cutler today :(

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 08:19 PM
Geez Darcy, I'm sorry I said anything about the Sea Chickens defense today. Every damn year I think they are going to be better and they consistently let me down. I'm sensing a pattern here.

Sedai
09-14-08, 08:21 PM
Darcy has top score right now :)

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 08:32 PM
Friggin' Seahawks... Bah!

I'm picking up that O'Sullivan kid, I don't care what any body says its tough to have a 300 yard passing day in Seahawks Stadium, and he did it and then some.

This Denver game is off the hook...

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 08:38 PM
Just a quick update for you Tongo, you had several players put up some nice numbers right at the end and as of now you are sitting at 105.06. I'm currently at 81.70.

I need me some Marion Barber and I needs it like a crack head needs crack. Not that I condone the use of crack I was just being all allegorical.

Powdered Water
09-14-08, 08:40 PM
This Denver game is off the hook...

Yeah, that's one thing I miss about my team not being in the AFC West anymore. That division is usually good for 2 or 3 games like that a year.

Its certainly working out well for Mrs. Darcy.

Sedai
09-14-08, 08:42 PM
I had a few under-performers today, but will end up winning my game vs a team with two invisible men in the line-up...

Slug
09-14-08, 08:51 PM
Coach Mike Shanahan of the Denver Bronchos.
Did you guys see what he did?
Going for two?
Wow.
Mongoose is beating me, but I still have six slots still available.
I have a chance.
He still has some stud that gets to play tomorrow night.

Yoda
09-14-08, 08:54 PM
Almost game-time for Pittsburgh. Will the wind keep the Steelers on the ground, thereby dealing a potentially fatal blow to my narrow 4-point lead, or will it simply lead to an increase in short passes, which tend to favor Ward over Holmes? We shall see.

Sedai
09-14-08, 09:15 PM
Slug, take Mason out! He is off this week!

Steelers win a defensive battle 10-6, and I get solid totals from Ben, Ward, Reed, and a strong score from the Steeler defense. The Face Huggers had some high scorers on the bench and may have been hurt by the delayed Baltimore game, though it'd have taken a lot to make up what's currently a 50-point gap.

Interestingly enough, I got a huge game from Calvin Johnson, but just solid totals across the board from everyone else, really. Nobody else even cracked 19, though ironically enough my three WRs (including the swing slot) were my three highest scorers. Kinda surprising.

TONGO
09-15-08, 07:01 AM
Great. The score...
TONGO 105.06
PWater 90.70

...if Marion Barber scores 15 pts tonight I lose.

Wheres my voodoo doll at...

Sedai
09-15-08, 09:54 AM
Certainly possible, although improbable. Barber tends to get banged up by the third quarter. The Eagle's defense is top notch, but so is the Cowboys offense...

Should be a good game...

My wideouts underperformed...again. The usually elite Housh seems a shade of his former self, with Carson Palmer having one of the worst starts of his career. I have never liked Palmer, but his core of WRs has always been able to go the extra mile and make plays. Bad weather combined with an even worse Cinncy team is sending Housh's fantasy value into the toilet. Still, I trust my talent, and the rest of my team has been performing well, especially my two PPR specialist backs. Bush had a rough day rushing, but made up for it with a few catches and a sweet punt return for a TD. Gore was his usual solid self.

Once again, my TE slot was a wash.

Last I checked, Darcy was up about 6 points on me for this week's highest score. I check this morning to see she must have lost points somewhere (team DEF, I think...?), but still edged me by .24 points. Congratulations to Darcy, who will in all likelihood finish with this week's top score.

I'm being gracious through gritted teeth. ;) The sting is lessened by the fact that I might actually have the highest point total through the first two weeks after tonight (should be close), despite being 1-1. Take that, everyone but me!

Swedish Chef
09-15-08, 10:28 PM
And if all holds serve, I'm probably gonna have the lowest point total of all the 2-0 teams. Luckily, I've caught Darcy and Slug on pretty bad weeks. I think I'm pretty happy with my guys, though I do need a better tight end.

Yoda

Nice read, and the author makes some good points. I guess it's easy to panic, what with so few games and all. Not only is the NFL season fairly short (in terms of games played, of course), but it's even shorter for fantasy owners, who need the last two games for the playoffs. Definitely too soon to go diving after players on waivers and giving up on the big names just yet, though.
