...and then some. (http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/05/05/marvel-studios-announces-dates-for-iron-man-2-the-avengers-thor-captain-america/)
Yep...look here (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?t=13209)
Marvel this morning released its First Quarter 2008 numbers this morning, and along with them, news that officially, an Iron Man sequel is slated for 2010 along with Thor, and two “Avenger-themed” movies in summer of 2011: Captain America (May) and The Avengers (July).
Matthew Vaughn was announced (http://blog.newsarama.com/2007/08/10/i-say-thee-yeah-matthew-vaughn-to-direct-thor-film/) as the director last August.
That’s the fan-pleasing news. The rest…something of a mixed bag. From the Associated Press: Marvel Entertainment Inc., which licenses comic book characters for films and consumer products, said Monday its first-quarter profit dipped 3 percent partly on lower licensing segment sales.
The company, whose characters include Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk, reported earnings slipped to $45.2 million, or 58 cents per share, compared with $46.8 million, or 54 cents per share, in the previous year.
The per share discrepancy is due to more shares outstanding in the prior year.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial expected a profit of 43 cents per share. Estimates typically exclude one-time items.
For the period ended March 31, revenue declined 26 percent to $112.6 million from $151.4 million, but beat Wall Street's estimate of $111.7 million.
Licensing segment sales, which now include results from its deal with Hasbro, fell on lower revenue from its Spider-Man merchandising joint venture with Sony and a significant drop in Hasbro income, which fell to $8.3 million from $20.8 million, in the same quarter last year.
Publishing revenue edged down 4 percent to $26.5 million, while losses in its film production segment narrowed to $2 million from $3 million a year earlier.Notable among the reports is that publishing declined – the first time the division has shown a slip compared to its previous year’s numbers in recent memory. The company also announced that it would no longer release its toy division as its own report, but instead, toy segment numbers would now be recorded within the company’s Licensing segment.
From Marvel’s report:
Marvel today updated its feature film slate strategy and plans for the next three years, locking in key release windows for its character franchises. In order to focus its attention on maximizing the success of an Iron Man sequel and the launch of Thor in the summer of 2010 and because Marvel believes that the summer is the optimal time to launch a new property, the Company will not release a self produced film in 2009. Marvel plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, Iron Man 2, on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of Thor on June 4, 2010. Additionally, Marvel is planting its feature film stakes for summer 2011 with an Avengers-themed summer – a two-picture project which will debut on May 6, 2011 with The First Avenger: Captain America (working title), followed by The Avengers in July 2011.
Marvel’s Chairman, Morton Handel, commented, “Adjusting for the strong year-ago contribution from the Spider-Man JV, Marvel’s Q1 2008 operating results continued to demonstrate strong global demand for consumer products based on the Company’s portfolio of characters. Marvel’s self-produced feature film slate launched this past weekend with a performance that firmly establishes Iron Man as a major new film franchise, and the Company eagerly awaits the June premiere of The Incredible Hulk, Marvel’s second self-produced film. In addition, Marvel has been investing in other important areas of growth such as the Internet where, to lead the Company’s newly formed Global Digital Media Group, Marvel recently announced the hiring of Ira Rubenstein. Marvel has a strong foundation to build from, and the Company is adding infrastructure to maximize these opportunities.”
By segment:
Licensing:
Net sales for the Spider-Man JV [joint venture] declined to $29.7 million in Q1 2008, versus $56.9 million in Q1 2007. The year-over-year decline in JV net sales was anticipated, as the high level of net sales in Q1 2007 was triggered by “on shelf dates” related to the May 2007 release of Spider-Man III. This decline was offset in part by increases in domestic and international consumer products licensing, as well as from a higher level of license revenue from Marvel Studios related to the Spider-Man, X-Men and Fantastic Four movie properties. Marvel’s Q1 2008 Licensing segment operating income results also reflect settlement payments from two licensees in connection with the termination of their respective interactive license agreements. The settlements totaled $19 million and were recorded as other income. Operating margin in the Licensing segment was 101% in Q1 2008, reflecting the benefit of these settlement payments included in operating income but not included in net sales. The operating margin for the Licensing segment was 83% in Q1 2007.
Publishing:
Marvel’s Publishing Segment net sales declined by $1.0 million or 4% to $26.5 million in Q1 2008 principally due to the timing of major publishing initiatives. Q1 2008 net sales reflected a decline in comic book sales within the direct channel and lower advertising and custom sales, offset in part by continued strong growth in the Mass Market channel. The year-over-year decline in direct channel sales principally reflects strong sales of high profile titles Civil War and The Death of Captain America in the year ago period, versus no comparable specialty titles in Q1 2008. Operating income in the Publishing segment declined by 14% on a year-over-year basis to $9.9 million in Q1 2008 with an operating margin of approximately 37% compared to approximately 42% in the prior-year-period. Based on its planned slate of publishing initiatives, including the release of the Secret Invasion series in late Q2 2008, Marvel expects its Publishing segment to return to traditional margins for the full year 2008.
Film Production:
Marvel’s Film Production segment operating losses were $2.0 million for Q1 2008, compared to $3.0 million in Q1 2007, reflecting overhead costs that were capitalized into Marvel’s self-produced films in Q1 2008. Film Production segment operating costs consist primarily of employee compensation and the expenses associated with Marvel Studios’ office in California.
Other:
Among the items in All Other is Corporate overhead, which was $6.5 million in Q1 2008 and $3.6 million in Q1 2007. The difference in year over year Corporate overhead is principally attributed to a one time credit in Q1 2007 of $1.9 million associated with pension accounting. All Other also includes the results of in-licensed toy lines: for Q1 2008, net sales of $1.5 million and operating income of $0.7 million; for Q1 2007, net sales of $4.2 million and an operating loss of $2.6 million.
Marvel listed projects in its pipeline (along with the announced Avengers films):
Ant-Man: Writer/director engaged (Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, respectively)
Punisher: War Zone: December 5th, 2008 release
X-Men Origins: Wolverine: May 1st, 2009 release
A side note - if you look at the schedule (and if schedules hold, but given Marvel's luck with the first weekend in May, there's no reason to think they won't) - Free Comic Book Day will occur near a major comic book movie release for the next three years - at least.
Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon: scheduled for Spring 2009 release
Iron Man: Armored Adventures cartoon: scheduled for Spring 2009 release on Nicktoons
Hulk Gamma Corps cartoon: scheduled for Spring 2009 release
Super Hero Squad cartoon: scheduled for Spring 2009 release
Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow DVD: late 2008 release
"Hulk Vs". DVD: early 2009 release
Thor: Son of Asgard DVD: late 2009 release
Planet Hulk DVD Early 2010 release
Spider-Man: The Musical: still in development
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows video game: fall 2008 release.
That's all good and well, but can we just keep in line for maybe some suggestions about Iron Man 2? Personally, it's not that I don't like the villians, but I don't think they would look good in a live-action movie
Well, as I mentioned earlier, look for War Machine in Iron Man 2. :p
No Ultron?
Not this time around.
Jon Favreau's favorite villian (and among other comic fans) is The Mandarin. So I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up unexpectedly.

possible spoilers for ironman and ironman 2
from movies.com (http://movies.com/moviesproxy/tipster?id=953478)
" As we reported last week, just the possibility of a spectacular opening weekend at the box office for Iron Man prompted Marvel Studios execs to start plotting Iron Man 2, and now Cinema Blend.com claims to have scoop on the follow-up flick's plot. Turns out that the after-the-credits cameo by Samual L. Jackson as Nick Fury wasn't just for fun, as Cinema Blend's scooper says Fury will return in IM2, asking Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) for help to fight the dastardly Mandarin, a terrorist who in the Iron Man comics has an extraterrestrial dragon named Fin Fang Foom. Iron Man 2 is currently on tap for April 30, 2010."
so there you have it
o and regarding the avengers movie...
"In other Marvel news, the studio has released its upcoming schedule, which includes big-screen debuts for Thor (June 4, 2010), The First Avenger: Captain America (May 6, 2011) and The Avengers, the all-star superhero flick with Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Captain America and Thor, for July 2011. Zak Penn, writer on The Incredible Hulk movie script, will also pen the Avengers and Captain America screenplays. Meanwhile, Cinema Blend has another interesting Marvel rumor today, reporting that Matthew MacConaughey is on Marvel's wish list for potential Captain America candidates."
Wow, Marvel is really moving itself into Hollywood. Its film lineup is starting to look a lot like a spring comic lineup. I never would have thought we'd see entire films on these characters.
Well, as I mentioned earlier, look for War Machine in Iron Man 2. :p
I hope you weren't referring to Lennon's post about villains; War Machine was never (and probably won't be) a villain.
No Ultron?
Yeah, I'm with you. I figured Mandarin would be next since he's pretty much the Joker to Iron Man's Batman, but I'd still rather see Ultron over all others. Saving him for The Avengers would be cool, but there are plenty of excellent Ultimate arcs they could explore instead. Ultron would be the bomb in an Iron Man flick.
I hope you weren't referring to Lennon's post about villains; War Machine was never (and probably won't be) a villain.
I never stated he was a villian.

Interview with Robert Downey (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20198228,00.html)
When you were brainstorming with Jon Favreau, what were the elements that you wanted to bring to the next Iron Man movie?
There's this idea of Terrence [Howard] putting on a suit and coming back as War Machine, who is pretty iconic in the Iron Man and Marvel universe. Just seeing where it can all go, but grounding it in a very modern mythology. I see it as greatest dysfunctional family story ever told.... In The New York Post a couple days ago, [there was a cartoon] of Iron Man suited up, and he's telling the governor even his super-powers can't get him out of the budget problem. That was what Jon was hoping for and excited to see the most, the idea that Tony Stark and Iron Man can become part of the cultural fabric. When we heard posters were being defaced to promote political or social ideas, he just got such a hoot out of that.
Interview with Jon Favreau (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20198027,00.html)
Will you be involved with the sequel?
We've been speaking informally about it, and in concept we would all love to work together again. But I found out about the announcement last night, so it's not something that — we would definitely love to collaborate more with the sequel. There's no formal arrangement yet, but in theory we would all love to see it happen.... There's definitely a lot of ideas that we all have now. This type of movie is based on serialized materials, so it lends itself very easily to [many different sequel possibilities]. There's definitely a level of enthusiasm from myself and the cast to tell more stories

Must...not...nerdgasm!
War-Machine does seem likely, or at least Rhodey hopping in "a" suit. The Mandarin would be a tough sell being all magic-based as he is, although the Ten Rings was a nice ref. The guy that captured him and allied with Obadiah was fiddling with that ring an awful lot too . . . .
Also, unless you guys are going Ultimate Ultron or something, he's an Ant-Man(and as a result) Avengers villain. Hank Pym creates Ultron (and Vision) and is haunted by the fact for the rest of his days.
Wouldn't it be great to see a chat between Tony and his MIT buddies? Bruce,Reed,Victor and Hank? That would be a great segway into Incredible Hulk!

I suspect that the Mandarin will be introduced, but not fully focused on, and the villain will probably be the Crimson Dynamo or something to that affect...
Maybe a hint to the Armor Wars storyline too.
I think Warmachine will be introduced, because of the obvious hint in the film.
I never stated he was a villian.
Right, but your post about War Machine seemed directed toward his post, which was entirely about forthcoming Iron Man villains. I figured you knew, which is why I didn't imply you didn't... but still, I didn't want the uninitiated to start thinking War Machine is a bad guy.
I remember that happening after the first Spider-Man film with the Green Goblin: somebody online speculated that Harry would become the Hobgoblin (seemingly based on the assumption that the Hobgoblin was somehow the Green Goblin's successor), and so every newly-christened Spider-Man fanatic took it as the truth.
Most people I know weren't even aware Jim Rhodes is actually a will-be superhero; they assumed his "Next time, baby" line was just for fun.

I think Nick Fury will have a bigger role in the second installment. Also, I think they'll be more references to other Marvel Universe characters to further set up the Avengers film.

Favreau was talking about the Mandarin as the villain in the sequel.
There were hints about it in the movie with Tony being kidnapped by an organization called the Ten Rings, the Ghengis Khan reference and how he could rule Asia with 10 suits.
Robert Downey Jr., on the other hand, has mentioned that he'd like to do the 'Demon in a Bottle' storyline. He'd be able to draw on his own real life experiences for that one.
I've also heard Thor may be introduced in the next Iron Man flick.
A Thor movie and Captain America movie just months later will set up an Avengers movie with all the heroes.
That's gonna be wild.
It's about time Marvel started merging their characters.
The Nick Fury bonus scene in Iron Man and the cameo Downey is doing for The Incredible Hulk are the first steps to that goal.

I caught that too. I think he'll be introduced, but not focused on until the third.

Wow, Iron Man was a must-see, but this pretty much covers that up. So when there's an Iron Man 2, it should jump off the wall just like sequels in other popular titles do. For example, Spider-Man or even better: X-Men 2. Movies like these always get respect.

as long as Marvel stick to their current way of doing things and yes hopefully get them all in the same place for one big avengers film then I say bring it on. if however they start doing what x-men 3 and spiderman 3 did to these franchises then stop now and lets leave it here
Comingsoon had a chat with Jon. Highlights here:

I found this part rather interesting:
An earlier answer that scrambled: Now that marvel is making its own movies, every movie has to fit into the Marvel universe. the Avengers incorporates not just Iron Man, but Thor, possibly the Hulk and traditionally Captain America as well. As it is, it's scheduled Thor will come out the same summer as "Iron Man2" and Captain America will come out a few months before Avengers. All the films have to come together to create a consistent universe. That's very important to everyone involved.
Will this be the golden age of comic book films?

The first one was awesome. The soundtrack wasn't bad either. Rumors claim that Terrence Howard is going to go superhero. I would definitely have to see that.

Well the comic book hero Jim Rhodes does get a suit from Tony Stark and is basically Iron Man II. John Faverau even teases us in Iron Man with Terrance Howard looking at the extra suit and going "Not today" (or something like that)

"Next time, baby." :D
In the comics, Rhodes becomes Iron Man after Tony Stark spirals into alcoholism, but later becomes War Machine after Stark takes back the mantle.
And for the record, I'd rather see War Machine in the film than just Terrance Howard as a stand-in Iron Man.
I am excited about it , but i doubt it could top the first one.
Sure it could. The first was really fun, but had some issues, as far as I am concerned. Bridges was a bit too cartoony for my taste, and the film takes a while to get going. Downey shines in the lead, but there is certainly more depth to be plumbed concerning Stark's inner demons. This was standard origin fare, as far as I am concerned. That didn't keep me from watching it twice this weekend, though. :D

Agreed. :yup: Going in, I was expecting a little more of the alcoholic side to Tony Stark (particularly because of Downey's involvement and early PR), but I'm actually glad they didn't delve very deeply into that yet. Better to have some fun establishing the character and getting people jazzed about the series, and then start exploring the character's closet skeletons.
I'm stoked!

Yeah, I would agree with that sleezmiester. I'm sure the studio was a little worried that the flick wouldn't be well received even if it was good simply because there just aren't as many Iron Man fans as there are say, Spiderman or X-Men fans. Mischief managed I'd say and now they can pretty much do whatever they want for the next film.

btw, fyi, fwiw i think the first one was good, but they need to make it a little darker. All comic book films should take note from TDk.

I agree. A little "more graphic" would make superhero films work more often. For example, Spider-Man didn't have that much popularity until the 3rd one came along. Same with Batman towards The Dark Knight. However, I wouldn't prefer superheroes to be "The Dark Knight themed", but Watchmen themed. To me, that seems a little more dark, which is good, depending on how you look at it.
Terrance Howard out, Don Cheadle in
I saw this on E! today and I must say I was a but surprised?
Terrance Howard out, Don Cheadle in (http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2008/10/iron-man-cheadl.html)
Wuh? :skeptical:
If Terrance Howard wanted too much money, then he had to have been asking for an astronomical amount. It seems logical that he would have a greatly expanded role in the sequel, and he's an intense, Oscar-nominated actor who could turn in a stellar performance. If Marvel Studios doesn't think he's worth all that, fine. But Don Cheadle, despite being a fine actor in his own right, isn't really right for the character, and I can't see how he's coming any cheaper.
I'm sure this was a matter of Terrance Howard opting out, and Marvel Studios scrambling to replace him with an equally gifted actor. I just don't think Cheadle is the best choice for Jim Rhodes. But hey, he's an awesome actor, so I've got faith.
Still, shame about Howard. He had great chemistry with Downey, and a real youth to the character that I liked. The Humdrumvee must have gotten to him.

That's so stupid of Terrence Howard. I like Don Cheadle way more but i hate it when actors drop out of stuff
According to an interview Howard gave NPR, he didn't opt out. He had signed a contract and Marvel reniged (sp?) on it. He's very upset. And I sure can't blame him if he negotiated a high price. They should have kept their word or told him no.
I read this on ew.com just now. I'm rather upset about it a bit -- I want Howard in the role, not Cheadle. And I think he got screwed. :(

The studio screwed Howard from what I've read. He didn't ask for a higher price that would call for "replacement".
I also think Cheadle is wrong for this role.
I think Downey Jr and Favreau should hold out for Howard, IMO.

Mandarin
Born in 1920 to a direct descendent to Genghis Khan, and a British aristocrat. He rose to a seat of power in China, but during the communist revolution in 1949, lost his position and power. In an attempt to regain what was taken from him he traveled to the Valley of Spirits and found the remains of a Makluan starship. The Mandarin spent many years learning and mastering the Makluan technology and the ten power rings he found within the alien ship. The Mandarin then found the remains of Ultimo, a robot of alien origin, and decided to revive it. His next goal was to conquer the world and rule with "wisdom and harmony." He began by conquering the area around the Valley of Spirits. and was aided by loyal followers from when he was in power in China. Black Widow (Natalia Romanov)
Natalia Romanov was born in Stalingrad, her parents were left unknown. Natasha was possibly a part of the Romanoff family, the Romanoff were the last ruling czars of Russia. During World War II, Natasha Romanoff had the building in which she lived in set on fire, and a woman, perhaps her mother, threw her into the arms of Ivan Petrovich who was serving in the army. Ivan took care of her when she was growing up and is now her chauffer. Ivan protected Natasha, though in 1941, she was kidnapped by the Nazi Baron Strucker and was made their assassin in the Hand. However, she was taken back by Ivan, Captain America and Wolverine.
Natasha excelled greatly in school and proved to be an excellent athlete and became a ballerina. She later fell in love with and married Red Guardian (known as Alexei Shostakov this time), but Alexei would die soon afterward during a testing of an experimental rocket.
The KGB decided that the Shostakovs would make good agents for them. While Alexi Shostakov was on a mission, he was informed of this decision, and that he could not make contact with anybody he knew, even his own wife. During this time, Alexi was being trained as the Red Guardian, who was basically the Russian Captain America. Meanwhile, Natasha was told that her husband died in an explosion. Natasha was deeply agitated, and wanted people to remember her as well as her husband. So she decided to honor his memory by achieving her husband’s goal of becoming an intelligence operative, she soon joined the Red Room Academy where they would train her and many other women to become skilled operatives. Natasha would become an extremely talented operative, the KGB gave her the name Black Widow. (Could easily fit into Iron Man. Click photo for more.)

I love the first film and im syked about a sequel, hopefully it will be just as amazing.
The whole extra scene after the credits was cool, but are they going to bring in the likes of superman into the mix?

Well... War Machine would be great then. Terrence Howard was originally supposed to star in this sequel was he not? There's no way Don Cheadle can beat Terrence Howard.

Actually, he probably can. Cheadle is a great actor.

So, just saw on Yahoo yesterday that Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson are joining the cast as Whiplash and the Black Widow, respectively.
Of course, Don Cheadle is replacing Terrence Howard as James Rhodes. Everyone else is scheduled to return.
Your thoughts? Thoughts about the fact that Whiplash is a woman in the comics?

I just wanted to put in my word about Iron Man 2. I'm really excited as most people are who loved the first one.
I've heard all the same news as everyone else. I'm upset that Rhodes role has changed actors, but I'm trusting in Jon Favreau to keep up the good work. As long as Downey doesn't jump ship (which would be unlikely) as he is one of the most awesome men alive.
I have the usual worries that comes along with any sequel. My main hope is that the don't try and shove it full of new wiz bang heroes with cool powers in a try hard effort to make it awesome like X-Men 3 did.
Apologies, I know I'm not adding anything new. Just wanted to say,
Go Jon Favreau! and Go Iron Man 2! Huzzah!

I do feel like the above character was the chink in the armor of this film. I think he played this role a bit too over the top, and the scenes at the end with him in the old school 'bot were corny and laugh inducing. Still a good flick, though.

Very true. He should stay out of the superhero genre. My only concerns are how the Whiplash character will pan out and what Mandarin's role, or rather lack thereof, will be in this one. In the first one we had the Ten Rings, so how much more backbuilding can they do before revealing him.

They should begin to delve into Tony's deeper, and more human frailties. His alcoholism and womanizing were hinted at in the previous film, but we should see how it adversely affects his dual persona.

When I first heard they were making an Iron Man movie I thought, "Iron Man? Is really a cool enough superhero to have his own movie?", but now after seeing the first the only thing I can say is "awesome!". i kinda like how Iron Man is sort of a Tin Man metaphor in reverse. he has to lose his heart to really get it. I can't wait to see the second because it looks awesome!

I feel the same way. I was expecting maybe The Crimson Dynamo or maybe Mandarin would emerge this go-round. I guess we'll have to wait for Iron Man 3 before actually seeing Mandarin. Yeah, I remember reading something similar to this. Either way, I just hope that the character is not like Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face or Jim Carrey's Riddler. This IS Mickey Rourke though, so who knows. Off the heals of The Wrestler, he might be able to make the character just a little fun, at least.

I didn't see why people so liked the first one, and will probably skip the sequel entirely. Rockwell and Cheadle are great additions (Terrence Howard was apparently royally pissed about how that whole thing went down), but I imagine Johannsen will do her usual "stare vapidly into space and look good" routine. Downey's remarkable charisma is not enough to save a run-of-the-mill superhero flick, especially with the uber-mediocre Jon Favreau at the helm.

Well it stands to reason that if you don't care for the superhero genre, that you will most likely not care for the original or it's sequel.
There doesn't seem to be much known yet, except a few snapshots of the villain, so I shall reserve judgment for now.
WTF? Iron Man was anything but run-of-the-mill.

Two things which I would think are a high level of wit and a strong implication of romance which can actually be improved upon in the second installment.

It's true that Downey is funny, but he always is, and I didn't find anything or anybody else humorous. Is the romance angle between Tony Starks and the Gwyneth Paltrow character? That's how little of an impression it made on me - I don't even remember. Aside from that, I think the romance angles in superhero films are almost invariably the least interesting parts, anyway. Also, a film like that needs to have a strong finale, and that ridiculous thing where Jeff Bridges stomps around saying corny things in a huge robot suit was just laughable. So I guess there was some more humor in there.
I guess... when was the last time you went on a date, a real date?

Today we have the full Entertainment Tonight Iron Man 2 set visit. Most of the visit takes place on the Monaco Grand Prix set where Tony Stark first meets Whiplash. Now that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has gone public with his alter-ego, there is no telling what evil force will come forward to battle the invincible Iron Man. Mickey Rourke is set to play the tattooed Russian heavy Ivan who becomes a man with deadly, technologically enhanced coils. And Sam Rockwell is set to play Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman and rival of Industrialist Tony Stark. Directed by Jon Favreau, Iron Man 2 also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Garry Shandling, and John Slattery. New 'Iron Man 2' Behind-The-Scenes Video
http://i38.tinypic.com/316418x.jpg
A new, behind-the-scenes video from the set of Iron Man 2 has hit the 'Net, and while there's not alot of new footage to be seen, there are some shots that should spark debate among fans analyzing every detail of what's available thus far.
In the video created by French-language site CanalPlus.fr (http://www.canalplus.fr/), Favreau and Iron Man 2 star Robert Downey Jr. offer some background on the making of the film, but we also get our first look at a homemade particle accelerator Tony Stark has built in his workshop. Pointing off-screen, Favreau tells the host, "As you can see, there have been some accidents."
But perhaps one of the most interesting shots in the video is a short scene featuring Downey and Scarlett Johansson's character, Natasha Romanoff (a.k.a. The Black Widow) getting very close while she wears what looks to be one of the gloves from the Iron Man armor.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9ANeXP8D7s&feature=player_embedded
The scene occurs right around the 3:56 mark, and is one of several scenes worth checking out in the video. We also get a peek at more footage from the Monaco Grand Prix set (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2009/07/06/tony-stark-adds-a-race-car-to-his-iron-man-2-arsenal/), as well as a tour of Stark's workshop—which happens to include the wall of Iron Man armor that made an appearance at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego.
There's still some uncertainty about whether we'll see Johansson or returning cast member Gwyneth Paltrow (who plays Stark's assistant, Pepper Potts) don any of the armor—but we do know that at least one new face will be found behind an Iron Man-style mask this time around: Don Cheadle as James "Rhodey" Rhodes. Exactly how much we'll see of Cheadle as War Machine (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2009/08/10/exclusive-iron-manwar-machine-conflict-a-big-part-of-iron-man-2-story-says-don-cheadle/), though—that's another mystery.

Don Cheadle Offers 'Iron Man 2' War Machine Update
http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/4312/460704-war_machine_super.jpg
Playing a superhero is never easy—especially when somebody else has played the role first. Such was the dilemma for actor Don Cheadle, who takes over the role of James "Rhodey" Rhodes from Terrence Howard in next summer's Iron Man 2. In addition to replacing Howard (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2008/10/14/terrence-howard-out-don-cheadle-in-for-iron-man-2-a-good-thing-for-the-franchise/), Cheadle also gets to don the War Machine armor (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2009/05/28/iron-man-2-update-favreau-hints-at-war-machine-debut-mickey-rourke-describes-whiplash-armor/), something that Howard was never able to achieve.
In an interview with Moviefone (http://insidemovies.moviefone.com/2009/10/30/iron-man-2-don-cheadle-interview/), Cheadle admitted to some awkwardness surrounding the takeover due to his friendship with Howard—but the discomfort didn't last too long.
"Terrence is a friend of mine," said Cheadle. "But the actual playing it, I just felt like it was my role. I wasn't made to feel like I had to sort of take care of what was done before. I really feel like I could make it my own."
A first look at Cheadle as War Machine (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2009/07/25/comic-con-war-machine-revealed-during-iron-man-2-panel/) debuted during this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, with the reaction from fans widely positive. According to the actor, playing War Machine was certainly different than anything he's done in the past, but only in the best of ways—particularly because, by the sound of it, Cheadle's character will spend as much time in a suit-and-tie as he will in War Machine mode (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2009/08/10/exclusive-iron-manwar-machine-conflict-a-big-part-of-iron-man-2-story-says-don-cheadle/).
"I think the character that I play, my CGI character worked as much as I worked," he said. "The stuntman worked as much as I worked. It's a huge undertaking. It was great. It was a really different experience than I have worked on before."
While he said the job is further "down the road," Cheadle also confirmed that he'd have a starring role in "The Avengers (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2008/10/28/marvel-makes-it-official-jon-favreau-robert-downey-jr-don-cheadle-on-iron-man-2-the-avengers/)," the superhero team-up flick that unites Iron Man with Captain America and Thor.

We may be getting an Iron Man 2 trailer with Sherlock Holmes
http://filmonic.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/ironman2stills.jpg
Iron Man 2 finished filming and entered post-production way back in July, so it was expected Marvel would give us a trailer sometime in the near future. Well earlier today director Jon Favreau retweeted a message (http://twitter.com/Jon_Favreau/status/5853428208) from someone on Twitter, and it hinted that we could see the first trailer with Sherlock Holmes:
RT @Ann_Howard: @Jon_Favreau PLEASE tell us the trailer is coming soon – w/Sherlock Holmes, perhaps??
This makes sense. Sherlock Holmes stars Robert Downey Jr. after all. Expect the first Iron Man 2 trailer online around December 25th.

Official Teaser Poster for Jon Favreau's Iron Man 2 Revealed!
Paramount has debuted the first official teaser poster for Iron Man 2 this afternoon over on Yahoo (http://movies.yahoo.com/photos/movie-stills/gallery/1737/iron-man-2-stills#photo0). Jon Favreau tipped us off via Twitter (http://twitter.com/Jon_Favreau/status/6214840673) that this would be debuting and it's a beauty. This shows that they're certainly going to be giving us lots of War Machine in this sequel. They're definitely off to a good start with the marketing on Iron Man 2 so far. Don't forget that we should also be seeing a trailer for Iron Man 2 in front of Sherlock Holmes.

I can't wait for the trailer for Ironman 2. I heard it will come out with SHerlockholmes. Who thinks this will make more money then Transformers 2 when it comes out? DC need's to borrow some creative minds from Marvel. War Machine looks KICK@$$!

Actually this is a great continuation of the 1st movie.
In this movie, we can see more action than the previous one.
International Iron Man 2 poster Poster
Earlier this week we got our first poster for Iron Man 2 which featured Iron Man himself along with War Machine. Now Empire (http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=26414) has been sent a new UK poster which reminds us that Robert Downey Jr. is the man behind the metal.

The trailer is expected to be released on December 25th, 2009 and play in front of Sherlock Holmes. Jon Favreau, the director of Iron Man 2, said it himself on Twitter. But there is leaked footage of Iron Man 2 right here, but the quality is not very good.

We know that already (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=586050), and the leaked footage was released months ago.

The Iron Man 2 Viral Campaign Begins
Two summers ago The Dark Knight defined just how much an online viral campaign could get moviegoers involved even before they had seen a minute of the film. Now Iron Man 2 is apparently trying to follow directly in those footsteps. Tonight Superhero Hype (http://www.superherohype.com/imageGallery/Iron_Man/Iron_Man_2/Movie_Stills/large/hr_Iron_Man_2_Secret.jpg) debuted a "clue" for the film, a washed-out, blue-tinted image of a magazine article about Tony Stark, with a pensive-looking Stark sitting behind it.
Given the Whiplash poster that debuted earlier today (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=588191), featuring a background papered with magazine articles that look very similar to this one, there's got to be a connection there somewhere. But what's the connection, what on earth is this game, and what's up with the arrow in the middle? Not a clue. Check out a smaller version of Superhero Hype's image below and let the game begin!

Iron Man 2 Trailer Next Week?
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/iron-man-2-trailer.jpg
The long-awaited official release of the trailer for Iron Man 2 may be soon upon us.
A trailer was shown at San Diego Comic-Con in July (for the lucky bunch of us in attendance) but nothing’s been released on the video front since – at least, not officially. There was a crappy leak of the Comic-Con footage (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-comic-con-vic-18795/).
However, a few weeks back, director Jon Favreau re-tweeted someone’s question to him on Twitter about when we’d finally see a trailer. His response seemed to hint that we’d see one this Christmas, possibly attached to Sherlock Holmes, an obvious choice considering both movies star Robert Downey Jr. But what if it came with Avatar next Friday?
Favreau’s tweet (http://twitter.com/Jon_Favreau/status/5853428208) from November 19th read as follows:
“RT @Ann_Howard: @Jon_Favreau PLEASE tell us the trailer is coming soon – w/Sherlock Holmes, perhaps??”
That was it. Some said it was confirmation, but I think its more of a hint. I do think its necessary to have Iron Man 2 advertised alongside Holmes but I don’t think that’s the first time we’ll necessarily see the trailer.
While not exactly a confirmed source, a user on the IMDB forums (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1228705/board/thread/153099675?d=153099675#153099675) (found by CBM (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=12586)) claims to be a projectionist in a New Zealand theater where they received a notice from Paramount about them getting the first trailers for Iron Man 2 and Shrek Forever After next week, to be played alongside Avatar next Friday.
“Hey, i work as a projectionist for a theater complex, Berkley Cinemas, in Auckland, New Zealand and we just got an email from Paramount today to say that they will be sending out the first trailers for Iron Man 2 and Shrek Forever After next week to be played before Avatar beginning Dec. 17. :) just thought i’d pass along the good news.
Cheers.”
An interesting way to find out, but I can buy it. Why not feature Iron Man 2 to crowds of both of the holidays’ major film releases? Once this trailer hits, we’re in for the long run of Iron Man promotion until the movie kicks off the summer of 2010 next May.
Iron Man 2 opens May 7, 2010 and Shrek Forever After opens two weeks later on May 21, 2010.

I'm Curious, How main in Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) in this? From what I've seen he'll be near to main throughout but then again, I haven't heard much from what he will be doing throughout this film. I'm hoping for some typical bad-ass Samuel. Can any one shed some light?
Exclusive: Another Iron Man 2 Viral Puzzle Piece Surfaces
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/iron-man2-viral2-header.jpg
Paramount is in the early stages of a viral campaign for Iron Man 2 that right now looks reminiscent of some of what was done (quite successfully) for The Dark Knight. Last week they released a newspaper clipping which (if real) would have been written right at the end of the first Iron Man movie. It looked like the edges were burnt and torn and it was an article about the revelation that Tony Stark revealed to the world that he is Iron Man.
Today we bring you the second newspaper clip released, which you can see below:
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/iron-man2-viral2-570x764.jpg
I’ve typed up the text of the article, but it’s nothing ground breaking, it just basically talks about the news conference that Tony Stark held when he returned from his captivity in Afghanistan:
In a move which caused shockwaves in markets around the world, Tony Stark declared that Stark Industries will be getting out of the weapons business. The announcement came hours after the CEO was rescued from terrorists who had been holding him hostage in an undisclosed location in the Middle East.
Sources within Stark Industries have said that the proposed changes in the company’s business structure would likely devastate the weapons giant. Stark is the country’s largest defense contractor and supplies materials, services and technology to some 30 other nations.
Markets from Tokyo to London reeled from the news on Tuesday, with investors stampeding to dump Stark shares. Indexes fell 4% on average.
Stark Industries was founded during World War II by industrialist Howard Stark. When President Roosevelet declared that the United States would build fifty thousand planes to fight the armies of Hirohito and Hitler, Stark rose to the challenge and set about building an astounding one hundred —
I’ve gone over the entire thing and can’t find anything resembling a hidden clue. Like the first one it has torn/burnt edges and looks to be against a rough stone background. These look like the clippings collected by Whiplash in his poster (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-whiplash-poster-kofi-37210/). I know that at some point there will be some website associated with this which will be discovered or revealed in the coming weeks.
Iron Man 2 opens on May 7, 2010.

Iron Man 2 Viral Headline #3
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Iron-man-2-viral-clue-3-header-570x287.jpg
A new piece to the Iron Man 2 viral marketing puzzle has appeared, and today it’s the folks over at CHUD (http://chud.com/articles/articles/21865/1/EXCLUSIVE-IRON-MAN-2-CLUE/Page1.html) who are holding it. If you haven’t been keeping up, you can get a look at the first two pieces to the puzzle by going HERE (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-viral-campaign-newspaper-headline-kofi-37358/) and HERE (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-viral-marketing-vic-37420/).
Iron Man 2 fans have really been digging into these faux newspaper clippings of their favorite hero, dissecting every word and picture in an attempt to discern what surprises Iron Man 2 may yet have in store.
So far, director Jon Favreau and the Iron Man 2 cast have done top-notch work keeping things under wraps – Lets just hope that there is some sort of legitimate surprise waiting at the end of this little viral game, and not just a ’setup for the mood of the film’ as some of our readers have suggested.
One clue to help you out: keep note of the highlighted portions on each headline that’s released.
Here is piece #3 of the puzzle:
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Iron-man-2-viral-clue-3.jpg
Also remember: a lot of these headline clips are reminiscent of those we saw pasted up on the wall in the official Whiplash poster (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-whiplash-poster-kofi-37210/) that was released last week. This is all building toward something – but what?
Iron Man 2 blasts into theaters on May 7, 2010.

SCARLETT WIDOW
Scarlett Johansson talked to The Daily Record about her role as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and what the likelihood is of us seeing her character appear in the forthcoming Avengers movie:
“I hope it will happen. I don’t know if that’s where it’s going go but she’s definitely a big part of the Avengers,” she said. “I think that Marvel is very much invested in these characters just as much as the fans are, just as much as I am. You want the fans to like the character, you want them to believe in the character, root for them, and want to see them again.”
“So I’m hoping that if the fans support the character, that we’ll see her again,”
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Iron-Man-2-Black-Widow-570x379.jpg

Iron Man 2 Trailer Has Arrived!
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/ironman2poster-header.jpg
So the viral Iron Man 2 puzzle wasn’t as complicated as some of us thought… Latino Review got the final clue (http://www.latinoreview.com/news/the-last-iron-man-clue-8803) and it turns out that it was all about the one word highlighted in each newspaper clipping, and combined they make up the domain name of a website:
StarkSecretConfessionRevealed (http://www.starksecretconfessionrevealed.com/)
At the time the website was revealed, it was on a 60 minute countdown to the launch of the first Iron Man 2 trailer that we’ve all been waiting for, and now it’s finally arrived at Apple.com (http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/ironman/) (which is where the site above now points)!

Iron Man 2 Secrets Revealed
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Iron-Man-2-trailer28.jpg
So the Iron Man 2 trailer (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-trailer-vic-38270/) has finally debuted and rocked our world with its awesomeness. Now that the initial euphoria has worn off, here are some details you may have missed while watching the trailer. Many of these would not be noticed by the average person, but being the long time, consummate Iron Man fan that I am, I geek out on these little details and enjoy the heck out of finding them.
Although everything shown below appears in the trailer, you MAY consider some of my “revelations” spoilers – you have been warned.
Hopefully you’ll get some enjoyment out of these little trailer “secrets” as well.
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/mark-4-armor.jpg
You may not be able to tell the subtle differences, but the armor in the image above, while similar to the Mark III (red and gold) armor from the previous film, there ARE differences. Most notably in the area just to the inside of the shoulders (trapezius area) and the abdominal and oblique sections, as well as in the forearm and hand armor. Note that the chest beam is still circular.
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/mark-5-armor-war-machine.jpg
First off, the uber-industrial and heavy duty look of the War Machine armor. Now, note the chest piece on Tony’s armor: Triangular. So Tony dons two different suits of armor in the film, which they’ll dub the Mark V armor.
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/mark-5-armor.jpg
Here’s a full look at what I’m calling the Mark V Iron Man armor. Triangular chest beam and different leg armor design that seems to go higher up the leg and into the hip area.
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/war-machine.jpg
Right here we have a full shot of War Machine in a bad-ass pose, doing what he does best. VERY cool seeing him in action. Also note that while in the film Rhodey (Stark’s long time friend) starts out in a conflict with Tony over Tony’s refusal to share theIron Man tech with the government, that in the end it seems they team up to fight on the same side. What they will fight follows…
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/stane-armor.jpg
It looks like James Rhodes’ desire to adapt the Iron Man tech for military use was successful as shown in the scene above. This is a scene from the end of the trailer where Iron Man and War Machine are fighting side by side. What’s gone wrong and WHY Rhodes joins Stark is something we’ll have to wait for the movie to find out.
Iron Man 2 opens on May 7, 2010.

Really good.
I'm still not sold on Scarlett Johanssen as Black Widow. I can't help but think she's in the film only because of how infatuated the whole world seems to be with her. She's not right for this.

I'm iffy on the inclusion of Black Widow in general. I don't want there to be too many characters for this film, that's what lead to the destruction of Batman.

I'm guessing that Black Widow's involvement will be minimal, at best. I don't see there being a big need for her in this movie. However, I could be wrong. I have a few problems with the character choices, but they're not big enough to damper my excitement.
The trailer is just awesome. If I could watch it at work, I would.

There was a portion of leaked footage on you tube a while back of Tony in a Court room / Senate meeting. I believe he swears at the Judge or jury or if it was the senate meeting, the main dude thats talking. Then the senator insults Tony or something of the sort, cant remember which. Following that, I came across the footage with Whiplash after Tony crashes a Vehicle if i remember right. It cuts off before anything major though.
The court room scene is hilarious, Tony's sarcastic attitude really shows in it. The movie looms promising, from only, those two scenes. (Plus all the data / clippings collected by you guys!)

Seems most of the trailer is comprised of footage leaked from comicon months ago, kind of spoils it. :(

That's the point of it (unfortunately to some) being leaked. You see footage in advance.
Is Black Widow a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in Iron Man 2?
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/iron-man-2-scarlett-johansson-as-black-widow.jpg
While the title of this post is certainly no surprise to fans who know anything about the character of Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff), what we weren’t sure on is whether or not she’d be a part of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Iron Man 2 specifically.
From the latest trailer for Iron Man 2 (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-trailer-vic-38270/), there is a hint that we’ll be seeing Scarlett Johansson’s Russian super spy join the side of good and work for Nick Fury and The Avengers during the story of this movie.
Warning: If you’re not familiar with the history of Black Widow from Marvel Comics, some of this may act as a plot spoiler for Iron Man 2.
In the books, Natasha Romanoff is initially an enemy of Iron Man (her first mission in the US involved her assassinating him) but defects to the United States from the Soviet Union. She starts with freelance work for S.H.I.E.L.D., the organization introduced in the first Iron Man movie and led by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury character. Eventually, she becomes a full-fledged agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and works alongside The Avengers.
On the movie side of things, we’re led to believe it will happen in a similar way and from what Marvel President of Production, Kevin Feige, mentioned about possible characters in The Avengers (http://screenrant.com/comiccon-avengers-roster-future-marvel-movies-rob-19368/) back in July, Black Widow will no doubt have an appearance in that movie among others that are coming out from Marvel Studios.
“I think we know. I think it’s going to be Iron Man and Thor, Captain America and Nick Fury. I think it’s safe to assume that there will be some members of the Hulk universe in the film as well. In terms of the additional I thinkBlack Widow, sure. The SHIELD organization for sure. What’s exciting, for me, about The Avengers movie is seeing those four characters interact with each other. I think anywhere from the first issues of The Avengers to Civil War the dynamic between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark is just awesome, it’s fascinating. It brings out sides in others that won’t be brought out in the other franchises. Going forward with the mix is a whole other thing, I think it will be cool. So to pile on another 15 or 10, frankly more than four would be too many.”
After all, Mrs. Reynolds has a multi-picture contract with Marvel Studios and is interested in doing many more movies, even a solo spin-off if it ever came to be (although it won’t). Check out the future of Black Widow (http://screenrant.com/marvel-movie-updates-black-widows-future-rob-22515/) for more on that.
Getting back to the character, Black Widow’s history and stories in the books directly involve the Crimson Dynamo armor (http://screenrant.com/crimson-dynamo-iron-man-2-rob-28379/), something we’ve heard a lot of speculation about in regards to Iron Man 2 as well as the character of Hawkeye, who has also been rumored about for a long time, more recently with Jeremy Renner as a potential candidate (http://screenrant.com/jeremy-renner-hawkeye-iron-man-2-the-avengers-rob-35699/) to play the character.
If the what what we see in the following image is actually what we think it is, then the defection of Black Widow to join Fury and the beginnings of the large and powerful S.H.I.E.L.D. organization as we know it from the Marvel Universe are coming to fruition in Iron Man 2, leading nicely into the upcoming Marvel movies.
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/black-widow-shield-agent-iron-man-2.jpg
Note that the emblem on her arm was not present in the previous images we saw, as seen in the header at the top of this article. I guess they just throw on a patch when she signs up and she keeps the tight leather outfit.
Will Scarlett Johansson bring a good Russian accent for the character? Will we see a cameo or hint of Hawkeye? Will the Crimson Dynamo armor be featured in the movie as an upgrade for Mickey Rourke’s Whiplash suit?
Iron Man 2 opens on May 7, 2010.

I'm hoping for the best from Scarlett but I am pretty hesitant, I think the accent really could mess it up. Don't get me wrong though, hope she nails it. I enjoyed the first one and I'm really looking forward to this.
Love Rourke though, he doesn't look exactly like what we saw in the comics, but I think he looks like a great villian.

Robert Downey Jr. & Mickey Rourke are two of my all time favorite actors. I am very happy to see both of these guys making "big" films again.
This looks great (for the material) - might not go see it in the theatre, but I will buy it on DVD.

Iron Man 2 Confirmed for IMAX
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/iron-man-2-splash.jpg
Paramount Pictures has put out a press release confirming earlier rumors that Iron Man 2 will be showing in IMAX! Well… sort of.
You remember way back to fall of 2008, the original rumor was that Iron Man 2 would be filmed in IMAX 3D, a la James Cameron’s Avatar. This rumor was later put to rest when director Jon Favreau let us know that the tight production schedule (and no doubt the cost) of Iron Man 2 prevented them from going the 3D IMAX route – although that visual feast was being reserved for Iron Man 3.
So what’s this press release that’s come along? Basically it’s announcing that Iron Man 2 will be converted into IMAX so that you can see every detail of that glorious superhero tech action once it has been stretched to fit the ginormous IMAX screen (a la Star Trek).
Here’s a bit of the official press notes on the matter:
Paramount Pictures today announced that the highly-anticipated action-adventure Iron Man 2, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Robert Downey, Jr., will be released to digital IMAX® theaters simultaneously with the film’s worldwide release on May 7, 2010. The film’s limited IMAX release will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with IMAX DMR® technology.
“The success of the first Iron Man movie catapulted the franchise from the comic books to theatre screens, and we’re excited that the IMAX format will offer fans an even more immersive way to experience the sequel,” said Tim Connors, Chief Operating Officer, Marvel Studios.
“Iron Man 2 is a fantastic addition to our growing film slate for 2010, which is filling out faster than any previous year,” said IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond. “The rollout of our digital projection system has enabled us to add more films to the slate, and we’re very excited to partner with Marvel and Paramount on this next installment of the incredibleIron Man franchise.”
“We’re thrilled to once again be working with Paramount and our long time friends at Marvel Entertainment as we help to bring their characters to life in IMAX,” said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. “The combination of Marvel’s iconicIron Man story, Jon Favreau’s brilliant vision and Paramount Pictures’ talented team coupled with IMAX will make for a wild cinematic experience.”
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/iron-man-2-trailer.jpg
Hopefully Iron Man 3 will arrive in true (3D) IMAX when its time comes. For now, catch Iron Man 2 in theaters and IMAX on May 7, 2010.

A Fin Fang Foom Cameo In 'Iron Man 2'?
Fin Fang FoomFin Fang Foom — the classic dragon-like monster created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby — will make an appearance in “Iron Man 2”, according to artist Adi Granov.
“This was my design for Fin Fang Foom for the ‘Iron Man Viva Las Vegas’ book I was doing with Jon Favreau,” explained Granov in a recent post on Super Robot Mayhem (http://www.superrobotmayhem.com/comic-book-movies/iron-man-2/fin-fang-foom/). “But this image in particular was done for [“Iron Man 2”] and used as a billboard in one of the scenes where Iron Man flies past it. It's very quick, but Jon wanted to have a kind of a cool easter egg in there.”
Fin Fang Foom originally debuted in “Strange Tales” before later going on to become one of Iron Man’s most popular foes. More recently, Fin Fang Foom made a memorable appearance in Warren Ellis’ “Nextwave.”
Granov first collaborated with Favreau during the production of the first “Iron Man” movie. Granov designed all of the Iron Man armors and served as a conceptual artist on both films. Their miniseries — "Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas" — is currently on hiatus while Favreau concentrates on “Iron Man 2.”
“Iron Man 2” stars Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Rourke, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, and Sam Rockwell and will premiere May 7 in both IMAX and wide release (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2010/01/14/iron-man-2-headed-to-imax/).

That trailer is AMAZING. Honestly, it's the best trailer I've seen for anything in years. I'm completely jacked and at the same time satisfied now. I really don't want to see any more. Leave some surprises for May 7th.
One big surprise is how they'll fit a Thor cameo in to this film. After credits? Verbal mention? No way Marvel misses this opportunity to get general fans excited and aware of their next film.

New Iron Man 2 Website is Sleek, Shiny & Awesome
http://srwp.screenrant.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/iron-man-website.jpg
The one film that just about everyone is waiting for this year, the one that tops the most anticipated list of most comic book fans worldwide, is Iron Man 2. Ever since last year at Comic Con, where director Jon Favreau gave several thousand people the chance to watch 5 minutes of footage from the film, fans have been “geeked” up to see Tony Stark take to the sky again with his friend War Machine by his side.
Teasers (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-trailer-vic-38270/), trailers (http://screenrant.com/new-iron-man-2-trailer-rob-47599/), photos, behind-the-scenes clips (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-video-pauly-27588/), and some posters (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-2-movie-posters-kofi-50313/) have all been over the past few months to whet the appetite of fans everywhere. Just recently, Marvel revealed the newly revamped Iron Man 2 official website (http://ironmanmovie.marvel.com/) complete with wallpapers, video clips, stills and buddy icons. One new thing they added, is the ability to listen to extended sections from each of the 14 tracks of John Debney’s original score.

Will There Be an Iron Man 2 End-of-Credits Scene?
http://www.dumbdrum.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/ironmanconcept1.jpg
It seems that the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 will feature a bit of a bonus for moviegoers who stick around until the credits are finished rolling. BadTaste.it (http://www.badtaste.it/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12730&Itemid=84) is reporting that Iron Man 2 will feature a scene after the end credits that could possibly set up The Avengers.
There is a very juicy news about Iron Man 2 on BadTaste today. A 100% trusted source (NOT from the production/distribution, but very familiar with the movie) confirmed us today that there will be an easter egg in IM2. It's an extra scene, just like the one in the first movie, after the end credits. We are able to tell you what's about! It's a scene about... Captain America and Thor!
This news hasn't been confirmed by Marvel Studios, and likely won't be, but it would probably be in your best interests to stick around after the credits roll for Iron Man 2.
Iron Man 2 comes to theaters May 7th, 2010 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Bettany, Sam Rockwell, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow. The film is directed by Jon Favreau.

Iron Man 2 Behind the Scenes plus Black Widow Spinoff?
http://srwp.screenrant.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/iron-man-2-scarlett-johansson-as-black-widow.jpg
Here are some notes from the Iron Man 2 press conference that took place in LA today. It was attended by producer Kevin Feige, director Jon Favreau, writer Justin Theroux, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Mickey Rourke.
Some background about the film was revealed through questions from the press as well as an interesting possibility about Scarlett Johansson’s character in the film.
Kevin Feige stated that Iron Man 2 takes place before Incredible Hulk. That’s already been talked about but he confirmed it. He also said there’s a clue towards the end of Iron Man 2 that indicates that.
Justin Thereoux said that it was a “heavily improvisational set” when asked about how close to the script the production was. A lot of modifications were made on the fly due to the nature of the cast.
Don Cheadle said that the Mark II (sliver) armor was actually metal as opposed to the familiar Mark III worn by Robert, which was fiberglass. That made it quite a bit more uncomfortable and hard to work in.
When asked about the inspiration for Mickey Rourke’s character Jon Favreau stated that Viggo in Eastern Promises Rourke’s character. He wanted to take a character who in the comics wore tights and had a purple feather sticking out of his head in the comics and make him “technical.”
Favreau also said that he tried to keep the story simple and not have the film suffer from “villainitis”. He brought Rourke and Rockwell together early so their story would be more of a single intertwining story – same with Scarlett and the Pepper/Stark relationship. That way there weren’t 5 different arcs going on.
One thing that Kevin Feige was very clear about is the fact that a Black Widow spinoff starring Scarlett is a definitely possibility.
Finally when asked about the DVD release, Jon Favreau stated that the Iron Man 2 Blu-ray will have commentaries in addition to a ton of extra features (there were no commentaries on the first Iron Man Blu-ray)

The Secret Ending of Iron Man 2 Revealed
A couple weeks ago, a report was published (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=614078) that claimed knowledge of a secret after-credits easter egg scene in Iron Man 2. That report ended up being false. And there was no extra easter egg scene following the credits of the Iron Man 2 press screenings and premiere this past week, leading many to believe that a scene might not even exist at all.
But comments by Marvel head Kevin Feige and Iron Man 2 screenwriter Justin Theroux during a press day last Friday, confirmed that fans should stick around for a surprise after the credits. Honestly, fans should just wait and see this ending in the theater, but there are some of you that are itching to learn what happens.
Two thirds of the way into Iron Man 2, SHIELD Agent Coulson (played again by Clark Gregg) gets orders to leave Tony Stark and is reassigned to a situation in New Mexico. That’s it. Not much more. In the film the moment goes by without it even meaning anything.
Cut to the credits.
After the credits conclude, we see a black car pushing up dirt as it zooms through the desert. We are even given a close-up of the New Mexico license plate of the car so that we know it is New Mexico. The license plate reads 8RE 2Z1. I’m not sure if there is an inside joke or easter egg in those numbers and letters. Probably not.
A man exists the vehicle, and it cuts to a wide show of a huge crater in the earth.
We see that the man is… not Tony Stark — but Agent Coulson.
He looks down at the inside of the big hole, which has been revealed to contain cars and workers working on something.
Coulson picks up his cellphone and tells the person on the other end “Sir, we’ve found it.”
Cut to a shot from inside the giant crater, and we push back to reveal the hammer of Thor sticking out of the ground.
How cool is that? Talk about an awesome way to tease Thor.
We see a black car drive through the desert of New Mexico. They make sure to tell us it’s New Mexico by showing a closeup of the license plate which reads 8RE 2Z1 New Mexico. The car door opens and Agent Coulson walks up to a giant crater. There are trucks driving around a big hole in the crater. Agent Coulson turns around, gets on the phone and says, “Thor. We’ve found him.”

First Look At Captain America's Shield And Thor's Hammer In Iron Man 2
http://flicksided.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/capthor.jpg
By now you’ve probably heard that Iron Man 2 contains cameos, of a sort, from Captain America and Thor. Though those soon to be filmed Marvel heroes don’t actually show up in the movie themselves, their weapons do. Thor’s hammer is an Easter egg (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=616770) which shows up during the credits. And then you’ll see Captain America’s shield, laying around in Stark’s laboratory (as it was very briefly in the previous film).
Flicksided (http://flicksided.com/2010/05/captain-americas-shield-thors-hammer-appear-in-iron-man-2-pics/) has screencaps of those heroic weapons as seen in Iron Man 2 available which you can check out below below.
