L.B. and I got into a conversation about the Superbit DVDs just recently released. Has anyone picked one up, or found one for rent and given it a try?

Just curious. :D

As I don't have a high-end television with a screen that would be able to tell the difference, no, I haven't spun a SuperBit DVD yet. Nor will I likely do so in the near future.

My friend Mark picked up the Superbits version of the Fifth Element and he claims the picture and sound quality is so good, it makes Star Wars: Episode 1 look like VHS! No kidding...

I haven't seen it in action myself, but with an endorsement like that, you can bet I'll be looking into it.

I've gotten so used to the extras on DVD's that I can see shelling out the same amount of dough for seemingly half the product. I have a Dolby Digital System and a pretty kickass TV (not HDTV though) and I really don't foresee myself purchasing any Superbit discs in the near future... now if Blockbuster happens to stock them I might take a flyer, but I doubt I'll be purchasing them.

They actually just released them recently. Most places weren't even supposed to have them in stock. I asked an employee at Suncoast if they had a certain movie on Superbit and they said well, we're not even supposed to have them right now. This was back in December, and now I see they have them out...

I would say if you want good picture, good sound, try Superbit, if not there's nothing to worry about then...

I couldn't exactly say when they got them in... But Best Buy has had Johnny Mneumonic (who thought up that release!!!), Crouching Tiger, and Fifth Element out for quite some time on Superbit.

Yeah, I know that some businesses have had them, but other than that they weren't "everywhere"

I don't really care though, I'm just curious as to whether or not they're any good...

The verdict is in.

I bought Bram Stoker's Dracula yesterday, watched it last night and must say, there isn't a whole lot of change between a conventional DVD and the Superbit.

Just thought I would share.
