View Full Version : MoFo Oscar Chat Transcript
Last night's chat was a roaring success; fun was had by all. Mike Wazoski was the most uttered name of the evening, Laura Linney wouldn't stop crying, and the songs in Enchanted failed to live up to their titular billing, judging by the reaction of, well, everyone who showed up.
As it stands, we saw over 6,500 messages last night, and averaged a message more than every 3.5 seconds for roughly 6 straight hours. I expected a lot of members to pop in for a short while, but most stayed for just about the entire telecast. By my count, 34 different members stopped by, and roughly 20 were there at any moment during the telecast, peaking at 23 simultaneously at one point.
To those who couldn't make it, due to emergency, illness, or the misfortune of being born in Britain, we've got a transcript up:
MoFo Oscar Chat Transcription (http://www.movieforums.com/community/oscarchat.php)
It's a little rough; at the moment, we've been unable to duplicate the colors various users chose for their messages. I'll let you all know if I can restore that for the transcript, but I thought I should mention it, since a number of the messages make a good deal more sense if seen in the color they were initially written in.
Enjoy!

Ha! This is why I hope that some of the movie nights can be late. At least my being in EST time, will help out some. I think I lasted in there for 15 minutes tops, then I disappeared for at least 2-3 hours. Kids . . . but once it gets late enough, I'm good to go 'til all hours of the morning! :yup:
That was a fun night, none-the-less. Great room, too.

34 people checking in is very good Yoda, you must be pleased with the turnout, and looks like you all had a good time. Being one of the misfortunate Brits :D I could only stop and say hello, but I'll be having a look at the highlights tonight on Sky. Anything funny worth looking out for ?
I really had a nice time.
Thank you.

Like when Holden asked me if I was DRUNK? That was Chet Seven's fault. What were you thinking . . . brown font? I seriously had to highlight you. I'll use the 800 by 600 blind person resolution, on the next chat.
"Flash me the high beams?"
I was glad I could drop in for a bit. I enjoyed it, even if I had trouble keeping up!
I had to leave the chat, but I was able to stay up to catch sight of Johnny Depp and see the Coens win!
The funniest part of the chat, for me, was the unanimous and gracious love you all showed the Enchanted songs. I also cracked up when it seemed Austruck consistently predicted the wrong winners.
Thanks. I hope you do it again!

And Yoda consistently predicted the right ones.

Things got a little silly at this point (http://www.movieforums.com/community/oscarchat.php?&page=61) :p
Incidentally, I wonder just how obvious it is that some of us were several minutes behind everyone else, and thus couldn't join in the fun too often for fear of having everything spoilt :(
Wow, that's hilarious.
And long.
I'm glad I got to be a part of it, thanks for creating that room Yoda - would love to see it back next year.

I think you're mistaking him for Holden, who had, I think, the highest accuracy rating in predictions.
I didn't expect to do well. I hadn't seen any of the five major nominees going into the evening. And it became painfully apparent that I HAD seen Sweeney Todd and that I DO have a thing for Johnny Depp, even if he did redo Willy Wonka away from my beloved Gene Wilder.
But I digress....
Yes, the various lines that say nothing more than "Testing" would get confusing unless you knew people were testing, umm, colors. :D
As all church newsletters say at one point or another, "A good time was had by all," thereby crushing any hopes of eliminating passive writing.
Austruck, at this point I'd like to apologise for my bingo comment.

Wow, I must have missed it entirely. What page is it on? ;)
Can I guess, though? Was it an age-related comment? :D FWIW, I don't do Bingo. I go straight for Blackjack or Video Poker. ;)

No, no... I was just talking about how Yoda made random guesses on the "who knows" categories, and nailed a lot of them.

Aha, yes, he was good at that, wasn't he? Then again, he has his finger on the motion picture pulse a lot more than I do. When Yoda was younger and lived here, we'd literally hit new movies every Friday when I picked him up. Now that he's a big boy on his own, I miss my movie partner. (Hubby just has no free time and doesn't like the lack of leg room in most theaters. He's 6'4".)
I really must train myself to just buck up and go to a movie alone once in a while.
Is Austruck Yoda's mother?

Twas an age-related comment, and trust me, you saw it.
You picked straight up on it. (it was a page towards the end)
I prefer poker, too.
He he I just relized I was the first one in so :p
