You can't believe everything you see

Brain De Palma directed this revamping of Hitchcock's Vertigo and Rear Window. It stars Craig Wasson he plays a down on his luck movie actor suffering from claustrophbia who becomes infatuated with a woman he's never met in person and has only seen her through a telescopic lens late at night. When he starts to think she may be in some kind of danger he's out to save her and that's when the story really starts to develop.

Filled with almost every type of camera shot in the book and even a few new ones specialy designed for the picture. The colors are used to magnifacent effect and the acting is pretty tight on all levels.Melanie Griffith and Buck Henry have the stand out performance in the supporting roles and Dennis Franz plays a director in a film within a film concept also used in De Palma's Blow out. The storys written De Palma which I think owes a lot to Hitchcock. Score by Pino Donaggio and produced by Columbia Pictures.

Jefferies!
You're dragging out all my favorites tonite! I love this movie! It was sort of like rear window with a kinky twist (or several of them). There are some really great scenes where Wasson's character is convincing himself that the girl is in danger and some plot twists that are truly unique. Watch it, you'll like it.

Whatever happened to Wasson anyways? He hit a streak for a while with Ghost Story, this film... then he disappeared.

he was good in Ghost Story but the movie I thought was quite bad what did you think of Ghost Story Toose?

yeah it had a ton of plot twist they were very cool also the whole claustrophbia thing was play excellantly by Wesson

Also I looked him up at IMDB
http://us.imdb.com/Name?Wasson,+Craig

and he done tons of Straight to Video renters which sucks cause I enjoyed him in Body Double.

I've heard this movie was good, just never had enough interest to watch it. I might pick it up sometime. It's very cheap on DVD if you're thinking of buying it. Under $15 I believe.

I believe, that Body Double is available for sale around $10 but I said under $15 because I think it's between $10-$15.

Other De Palma films I've seen (don't laugh):
Mission to Mars
Mission: Impossible
The Untouchables
Carrie - parts of it

I enjoyed Mission: Impossible and The Untouchables. I thought Mission to Mars was long, drawn out, and boring. Carrie, since I have never seen the full movie I can't really comment on it.

Definatly rent "Body Double" it's way better than Mission to Mars and I'd say it on the same level as "Mission Impossible" and considering how cheap it is on DVD and I know your a DVD enthusiast I would feel good about telling you to buy it. Instead of renting the FULL screen, 150 lines of resolution VHS.

Well, I'll give it a thought, and if I happen to find it, I'll pick it up.

Thanks for the recommendation L.B. :D

no prob, also another one of my fav of De Palma's came out on DVD just a while ago and I picked that puppy up right away. "Casualties of War " there two really nice specials one's about Michael J. Fox's character and what kind of stuff happened to him on the set with the director and other actors.

The other Special is a mini-documentary that takes on the whole of the movie sets, photography, production design, direction and pre & post productions of the movie.

It also tells you how they got the actors which some went on to do big things like John C. Reilly who did Magnolia,Sydney & Boogie Nights and John Leguizamo who went on to do lots of comedies and I think was most memorable as Benny Blanco in Carlito's way another Brian De Palma film. It also comes with a few intresting deleted scenes as well.
