I've got my little book out, and if anyone wants to, I can tell you your deepest darkest personality traits.

Here's what it says about Geminis:

Work Attitude:
"...if you're involved in repetitive work or forced to tolerate stupidity, a great deal of stress can build up. In such cases it is very important to find ways to ease the tension." The Fight Club Thread?

Personality:
" It must be remembered that the Geminaian mind needs continual stimulation."

Love:
" You will eventually develop constancy in love, but because of your low boredom threshold, you will have to think hard before making a final commitment."

" While they are warm and sexy, they MUST learn to consider their partners needs." DAMN!

" ..may tend to overdramatize minor upsets." Um...no I don't.;D

I'm August 13th, I think that makes me a Leo. I don't believe this stuff for the most part, though. I think you can tell just enough about a person by their birthdate to make it sound like the stars are telling you something. :)

These two are correct for the most part, but they are generalizations that could fit for a lot of people, not just Geminis.

Yes, exactly, Arthur. Oh, and Toose: if they're naughty, they ain't qualities. :)

sadesdrk
12-20-01, 02:22 PM
Hmmm...Toose and spud are BOTH Aquarius, but you couldn't be more opposite. I'm gonna need exact birthdates( not year) to make an accurate prognosis.

Art Dent: If you knew me better, you'd know why the traits I posted are unique to me, yeah, I'm sure they apply to lots of people, but not on the levels they apply to me...;D

T- a Leo...ooooh...I've got some dirt on you...here's what it says. See if this fits:

Personality:
" Anyone with a Leo emphasis to their personality, has a creative streak; perhaps through writing or painting. You need a creative outlet/hobby of some kind...something directly to the fine arts." Hmmm...MoFo?:)

Romance:

" Elegance and the finer things as well as comfort, will be as important in this sphere of your life as well as in every other. You will lavish gifts and love on your partner to ensure stability, as you are both generous and warm-hearted." Aw...T.;D

Well-Being:

" You are easily bored with excercise, so vary your routine as much as possible. A health club, with it's varied activities, should keep you happy."

What do you think?

Yoda
12-20-01, 02:43 PM
Hmmm. Well, I hate to sound arrogant, but I do spend money on others pretty freely, so I guess that would make me generous. I'm not much into the fine arts, though. Like EVERYONE, I have a creative streak, but nothing major. I don't paint, and I write, but not in a very artistic way. I suck at web design, too. So I don't think that part was all that accurate.

I dunno about the excercise. Could be. I am the "give the girlfriend a gift" type of guy, though. I like doing that sort of thing.

Conclusion: sort of like me, but not enough to make me a believer. :)

Aquarius, Jan 25th here. That's freaky!

sadesdrk
12-20-01, 02:55 PM
Hmm..well, that was the very general one. I could look at the calander and get your exact birthday, to pin it down a little.

Spud's birthday is Feb. 13th.- Let's see:Again, this is kind of general, as I don't know a lot about the technicalities of when you were born. Such as time of day, and what not.

Personality:
" Tendancy to be stubborn. Original; very logical, if not slightly unpredictable."

Romance:

" You will always need a measure of independence. The moon on your day makes this a little of a contradiction, as you are also, very romantic. You love all the trimmings of romance; flowers, candle-lit dinners, cards, gifts."

Well-Being:
" You probably enjoy cold whether. Perhaps you enjoy winter sports, and these will be good for you...as you have excellent circulation..." I know a little something about spud, that makes me laugh at this.

* You may not be good with money, but you like to keep up to date with the latest things. You are easily attracted to the glitz and glitter of newer and better things. Try a budget on for size, learn to manage your money, so you are freed up to buy those finer things.:) I'm surrounded by Aquariuses...that's not great for a Gemini...

depends on what your info source is. a generic book will indeed give you generalizations. a chart drawn specifically to the astronomical situation at the exact date, time, and location of your birth will give you startling, and particularly spot-on details most specifically relating to YOU.

the last of course requires time and money. you could learn yourself and draw your own chart but most people don't have the patience. if you write it off as a realm of the "new age" and say it's just a way for new agers to earn money, true, but someone else could say the same of Christianity, vegetarianism, Scientology, or school. all make an income. all have a "higher" goal. the point is to actually give something a full on chance or respect that it does indeed work - if practiced properly - before writing it off. hence, I'm not a vegetarian but believe it can contribute to a healthy body and respect that for other veggies, or vegans. most of us hate school but recognize it's good for us. religion ... depends on what path you follow. and so ... astrology is a true science, I believe. we talked about science before, how it moves to envelop newly discovered facts. astrology does this, and is a far more ancient realm than modern science. why shouldn't it be possible that it can actually "work" or apply?

so, no, you don't have to FOLLOW or seek out or apply astrology. but that doesn't mean it doesn't work. and that doesn't mean those who believe it does are clueless folk who make you shake your head with a smile.

anyhoo ... i know i've written on this before ... and on my own beloved sign. ;) (libra)

LEOs - not necessarily "creative" in the arty sense, but they are known to be gregarious, sociable, pleasant people. They like people to like them. They like attention. They often do things that will garner attention, not necessarily in a superficial sense, but because it's fufilling to them to do good things and get good attention and appreciation for it. They find and create solutions in a public sense, which is where "creativity" can apply. You created a forum - drawing upon resources, people, and what talents you do have to create a realm that you hope will garner public attention for your skills, and eventually, an income.

I know a wee bit about other signs but most about sagitariusses and librans. ;)

It really says that about me, or did you make some of that up??? That's weird that it says that. I do have some problems with money and hate to budget, but I manage to always keep some money in hand.

sadesdrk
12-20-01, 04:21 PM
I didn't make it up...the stars don't lie babe!:D

Thmmie...hm...Libra huh? Lemmie see:

well for starters, both you and I are air signs. That's cool.

"...delicacy of approach, and love of balance, harmony and comfort."

Personality:

" Social intercourse is very important to you, and you probably show an automatic intrest in everyone you meet. No doubt a wide circle of friends. You tend to be self-critical." Sounds like we share these air qualities.;)

Romance:

" ..you tend to fall in love with love itself...and sometimes confuse that notion with loving your partner. Do not let your fondness for romance and romantic settings be a substitute for the real thing." Thmmie, I don't know if you are prone to this, but I surely am. I reacted to this when I read it.:(

Well-Being:

" You may be prone to headaches. You are big on pampering yourself and should indulge this tendancy through means like, steam baths or saunas, after a work-out. You have a major sweet tooth and should always be mindful of it. You do have a quick metabolisim, and this will be of some assistance here."

How does that sound thmmie?

See, that's where I disagree. I see right and wrong as absolutes. Regardless of what right is relative to what's wrong, what's wrong is still wrong. Just because one is needed to IDENTIFY the other better, it doesn't change what it is. :) Naughty is just that -- naughty. I'm sure I'm being overly critical of something meant as a goof, though.

thmilin
12-20-01, 05:58 PM
yep, pretty much me ... well that's the general. more detailed reads on libras have us weak in the lower back (very true) and so indulgent as to be unhealthy (i'm dangerously close sometimes). the physical concern for us is our kidneys and lower back, which I mentioned already. i do have a wicked sweet tooth. and i do enjoy indulging myself ... shoot, i have so many pretty scented candles in my house my friends make fun of me. the first room i took care of when i moved into my new place was the bathroom - setting is everything. we libras need beauty, to make it and be surrounded by it.

as for social ... we are known to be social butterflies, to the point that other signs, like the scorpio, assume we're fickle. but we're highly loyal and being an air sign, very intellectual, moral, and theoretical. we don't believe in betraying, though it looks like all we care about is appearances. appearances are important, but not the be-all.

now, while all these things may have strong tendencies, that's just like having the "alcohol" gene. your environment and how you grow up can alter these. so, i CAN be a social butterfly but often am a hermit - which is unusual for a libran.

the date in question ... Oct. 18, 4:36 pm, Vallejo, CA.

Oh this is interesting. Toose, your moon is in Gemini, as is mine. Check this out and see if it doesn't fit:

Personality:

" ...you are eternally youthful and an excellent communicator. You will be forever talking and voicing your opinions and will have an instinctive urge to communicate with others. Superficiality is one of your more serious faults, and could be a major stumbling block for you. You could be very mistrustful about your feelings. Make sure you don't rationalize your emotions out of exsistance, or surpress them so they are never freely expressed." sounds more like me, than you.:)

Romance:

"Geminian duality may well have an effect upon your love life. You could end up having two partners, both of whom you love, for quite different reasons. While you have the ability to talk yourself out of bad situations, why treat anyone unfairly." I swear that's what it says. Word for word.

Well-Being:

"Prone to anxiety and stress, it would be a good idea to learn a relaxing technique. Maybe yoga after a strenuious work-out. This wil help you develop an inner calm."

"Your attitude towards money is make it fast and make a lot. You are clever in your money making abilities, but becareful not to be too clever, and cross the line into scam artist. Monet comes to you naturally and easily. Spend it wisely."

May or not be you, but given what I know about you, some of it is accurate enough.:)

Right on, usually hand over fist... and I have dreamed up a scheme or two that would have sent me over the top but had moral issues that prevented me from carrying them out. I have Spuds' budget issues as well though... I have a steady stream in and a steady stream out...

Taurus? That explains a lot to me. My Mom is one and so is my little sister. One was born dead on with their sun and moon in Taurus, and the other was born on the cusp of Gemini. Needless to say...she is easier to get along with. I could write a book on everything I know about Taurus. Romance for an Aries:

"...Impatience and Restlessness could lead you to make careless mistakes on important projects."

" You are more passionate than most signs and tend to fall in love quickly and easily. You are likely to be more satisfied in monogamous realtionships, and are not prone to enjoy more than one partner at a time...this doesn't mean that you won't find yourself straying from your partner, you very well might have cause to cheat...but mostly because of something lacking in the relationship, more than you just wanted to have more than one partner."

It's got some thing about Parenthood here, patti:
"You will be a very lively parent and will not find it difficult to keep up with, or ahead of, your children's intrests. You have fun spending time with family, and they enjoy your youthful, energetic approach towards them."

Personality:

Romance:

" You do not find it an easy task to express your emotions, freely. You are friendly and sociable, but you tend to distance yourself to those who show intrest.
You need an ambitious partner...as you will find anything else, a weight. Sex may not be the main reason you seek to deepen relationships, but sexual fulfillment is as necessary for you as it is for everyone else."

Health:

" Knees and shins are a problamatic area for you. Always stay active."

Maybe there's something to this after all...

Okay, so it's pretty general, but......it's still pretty dead-on. I gave up running after about a year because my knees were going out. I'm a big saver.

The only area I can actually disagree with is the "sexual fulfillment is as necessary for you as it is for anyone else". I don't think this is true in my case, but it's phrased in such a way that it's a prescriptive, rather than descriptive, statement, so it's no big deal.

Virgo in Love:
You give the impression of being in firm control over your emotions, but this is often a disguise.
You are sensitive, receptive, sensuous, and cautious...all at the same time. You are drawn to women who are effusive and vivacious.
You pride yourself on having a private love life. You have high standards in relationships. You would like to think you're a regular Duan Juan, But you are not. You like to be on the level and don't really like a lot of glitter, you crave stability and quality.

How's that?

You have extravagant tastes and enjoy spending money." That's you in a nutshell, pal!:)

Straight-shot Leo meaning August 13th isn't anywhere near any other sign? Yeah, sure, what the hell...have fun with it. :) I still think it's MOSTLY (I'm not throwing a blanket over it all, though) guesswork and clever phrasing, though.

patti
12-28-01, 01:19 AM
i gotta ' say, i had a dead set opinion of Leo and it was not a pretty sight..........but then i find out that a bunch of people i know are all Leo's.......and they couldn't be more different. Leo is therefore one sign that has made me think Horoscopes are baloney.- not that i know too much about other signs.......aside from my own (Aries) and from a long term boyfriend now in the past (Pisces). when i see a horoscope listing (mags, and newspaper) i glance at my sign........and then selective attention/retention does it's stuff;.....if it says i'll have good luck, i smile, if it warns of financial doom, i forget, andif it promises new love, i kinda chuckle and shut the magazine at that point. but i did see a horoscope for the new year........according to that i'm in for one helluva good year! whooooeeeee, yipppeeeeee.

Oct 18. 1979, Vallejo, CA!! oooh, my own personal astrologer, hehehe. *demands* draw me a chart, this instant! Guess what thmmie...you were born on the cusps of Libra. You are a Libra with Scorpio tendencies...this will really narrow things down for you. Whenever you read horoscope crap, read the ones for both Libra and Scorpio.

You have magnetic charm and usually try to maneuver situations so that you are the one who controls or directs. You know how to work hard, and apply yourself to achive a goal. You are skillful in dealing with people. Your sensuality draws others, even when you are not aware of it. At times, you can be impatient and quick tempered. Basicly you don't like heated arguements and are more willing to keep the peace. You have a captivating social nature. Punctuality is not one of your strong points.

How's that?

thmilin

they are NOT over descriptive!! they speak to your nature and the nature of a person is not summed up in a nutshell! schmucks.

TOOSE! oh my ... yes, i'm sure i was quite angelic as a babe in the hoppytal. my dad says i didn't cry much. i looked nothing then like i do now. that's what age'll do to ya.

sades! oh my, I've always been fascinated by scorpios but knew they were trouble. my sign is not advised to mess around with one. interesting then, to be a mix! I had no clue i was on the cusp, much as i studied my sign I didn't know that was the case, I didn't think i was on the cusp of anything! oh, scorpios are trouble though. but that's good, that explains some things. i thought i was a wee bit too intense for a generic libra.

The magnetic charm ... yes, Libras are about charm and I know how to use mine! heheh. Sometimes i'm just a couch potato though and like to be left alone locked up in a room. That's very scorpio-ish. Hmm, yes, I'm usually trying to organize and direct things. Mainly cuz i think my way is best (it usually is, i'm very into efficiency and getting things done with the least amount of effort, time, and the most amount of quality/output). Very bossy of me, i know. I do work hard. I like to apply myself and earn my rewards. I do know how to deal with people ... I don't always like to (I can be, like i said, hermitish).

Hmm, sensuality. Yeah, i was told things by people when I didn't intend to umm, spark things. But a libra never minds when they spark! ;) Yeah, I can be impatient but I've worked all my life at conquering that. But temper, well, I rarely get angry. I do get annoyed though, but I don't often say anything about it. I only blow up after all the patience has run out (takes a long time). Which fits with how I don't like arguments - we libra's like balance! Scales, justice, diplomacy. So no, no fights. Hey! I am ALWAYS on time! Most often early. I have a thing for that. I think that comment was tied to me being a flighty libra but I've got some personal traits I think had to do with my strict upbringing. Stuff like manners, decorum, whatnot. So, I hate it when people are late and am always trying to be on time or early.

Cool beans. Yeah, that's pretty much me. A little assumptive about my libra tendencies. I'm more hard core into the areas they talk about creativity, sensuality, indulgence, trying to make and surround myself with beautiful things. You can count on a libra to know about style and they can give you all the tips on how to dress and to decorate your house! I'm a good libra I am.

sades, where's the specifics on your birthdate?

spud, while I think many girls like to be on top ... I do not prefer it. ;) But that's only the case in the bedroom.

The Mighty Leo!
All Leo's possess a kingdom(MoFo) The kingdom might be big or small, a be a carreer, a creative piece of art, something in which you rule over.

You despise the ordinary, dull, mundane.

Generous, kind, openhearted, you find it hard to believe ill of others.

If injured, you strike back quickly, but forgive easily and apologize freely if you wounded someone unintentionally.( I can vouch for that;))

Pride is almost always your downfall in bad situations, it's your Achilles heel. You often suffer a wounded ego.

You can be overbearing and snobbish at times, but it is almost always imposible to hate a Leo.

How am I doing? I still have your love life to dive into...;D

Yoda
12-30-01, 08:40 PM
Love life? I'm supposed to have one of those? Crap; why didn't anyone tell me? :D Yeah, it's pretty much right so far. I'd say the snobbish thing is a little off (I usually go out of my way to try to avoid seeming snobbish...being thought of that way is something I'd absolutely hate).

sadesdrk
12-30-01, 08:43 PM
If you hate being thought of as a snob...then it's happened more than once...am I right?:)

Oh, thanks. Yes, I'll let you know when I'm married...in however many years. No, I honestly can't remember anyone telling me they think I'm snobbish. Now and then a person things I'm a little condescending, but it's a rarity indeed.

12-30-01, 08:55 PM
Yes, I know what you mean...though I never thought of that as snobbish. Uptight is different from snobbish, IMO. Like I said, most of it seems right, but not all. I wouldn't say I despise the ordinary. I don't enjoy it, but I really don't mind ordinary stuff for the most part. Anyway, I'm off to go find me a wife, so you'll tell me more about myself.

Leo rules the spine, the back and the heart.
The heart is associated with strong emotions and the back, with courage.
Leos have robust constitutions, supple spines(whatever that means) and good cordination.
Leos have a great need to excell in what they do, and often push themselves beyond limitations.

spines can be very sexy in photographs......twisted torso's......long waisted women, or fit men..........mmmmm

spud, you should hang from a chin-up bar or some monkey bars in a park.....just hang and let your spine be pulled by gravity.......it feels great but odd. you're talking about knots in your shoulder area though aren't you? if i'm holding stress or tension, it's always in the triangular area behind my head/neck. - between my shoulders. it gets all knotted up and achy- but thankfully not very often.

Yoda
12-31-01, 12:40 AM
I used one of those kneeling chairs for awhile, Patti: I'm not nuts about them. You can't really lean back and just hang out...which I do all the time. I like to sit back, let out a big breath, and just sort of observe the area for a minute or two. I'd go nuts if I had nothing to lean back on.

Sadie...

Do you have any more for me? Tell me more!

patti
12-31-01, 10:07 AM
T, the ergonomic chair is okay........i would rather have a nice big comfy chair with padded arms so i could sit indian-style or pull my knees up, or lounge in various ways- but i have this old desk that doesn't work with much of any kind of chair.......my space is cramped. i thought this kneeling chair might be a good thing for my back (except that i keep pulling my feet up onto where my knees are supposed to be! )

and spud.........i can't imagine NOT liking a chair that costs $5000;)

Yoda
12-31-01, 11:10 AM
That's funny: I do the same thing quite often. Instead of leaning back to hunker down a bit, I'd put my feet up on that kneeling section to lay back and relax...which I think might defeat the purpose a bit. :)

You were born on the third decanates of Aquarius. There are twelve signs. Each sign is divided into three parts...depending on which part of the month you were born in( first, middle, last) is what determines your decanates. So, Toose, you are the third one. Wait...lemmie make sure.
EDIT: Okay, I thought so. I got your birthday confused with spud's. Okay...so you are the second decanates/January 30th-Feb.8th. You're the 4th.
Here we go:
Keyword: Frankness
Constellation: Piscis Austrinus, the Southeren Fish that symbolizes knowledge and fertility of the mind.
Planetary subruler: Mercury
Mercury, planet of versatility, adds energy to Aquarius's Uranus( your ruling planet) which gives a liveliness and sparkle to your personality. You have spontaneity and a genuine warmth. One of your more prominate traits, is your honesty and frankness of speech. You have a gift of language and many literary intrests. You have the ability to sum up a person or situation with a clever or witty phrase or two. You want love to be a consuming and passionate experience, but you are too self-sufficient to be swept away.

Toose, I shall step in as Junior Astrologer.

Your ruling planet is the dominant planet within your astrological chart on the date, time, and particular location of your birth. Generically, your personality can be determined from your ruling planet though of course the specifics of your date, time, and location are more in depth determinations of what, exactly, you're made of. The ruling planet is true of all people within an astrological sign.

For example, Libra's ruling planet is Venus. Venus has its own personality and that personality will heavily influence mine. Things like beauty, grace, romance, love, indulgence, hedonism, superficiality, the arts, sexuality, and sensitivity are things linked to my planet and therefore linked to me.

Here's your info on Mercury - Sades already provided one look, here's another:

Mercury

This little planet is known as the winged messenger, the planet of communication and transportation of all sorts. It is a flexible, adaptive planet, which continually accesses new data and responds accordingly. Mercury represents non-emotional, highly rational objective thought, its placement in a given sign reveals your intellectual style. Therefore, all learning and assessing of information is ruled by Mercury, and when it retrogrades (something you will read about from time to time in my column) it tends to scramble information for everyone, making it a highly unreliable time for anyone to sign contracts or make important decisions. This is one of the few universal aspects which will effect every sign in my predictions.

This planet governs your speech and how well you get your ideas across. The sign and house in which Mercury resides will tell you lots about your natural style of gathering and dispersing information. When Mercury is stressed out, others will challenge your opinions, or you may talk too much. However, when it's in harmony with the other planets in your chart, it's a great time to write that contract, buy a new car, or even give a speech.

Mercury also rules sibling relationships, maps, letters, postal matters, travel plans, appointments, roadways, vehicles, advertising, publishing, sales, and public relations. And yes, it rules on-line services, but not cyberspace itself, which is under Aquarius. It even rules Fed Ex and other express couriers.

Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo and, of course, the most adaptive element of the universe, quicksilver -- known as mercury. Mercury spends about 2-3 weeks in each sign, but when it retrogrades, which it does 3 to 4 times a year, it can stay in one sign as long as 10 weeks. Never far from the Sun, it takes about a year to circle the zodiac.

ah, spudmuffin, you should know better than to say "it sucks." There is no "wrong" or bad in terms of astrology and ... even other forms of science (spiritual, religious, etc). All that goes around comes around; for every down an up, and vice versa. There is no one sign that gets the short end of the stick; every sign, every planet, just like every aspect of a person and of life, will deliver both good and bad.

your ruling planet ain't got nothin' to trip off of:

Uranus

Uranus is the planet of surprise and all that is unexpected. It also rules the future and all new technology -- all that has just been invented and all that is yet to come. Yes, the Internet and all of cyberspace come under the domain of Uranus, sure to be right up the ally of any Pathfinder reader. Innovative, unpredictable, resourceful and experimental, Uranus also rules pure creativity and even genius. This planet also rules the breaking up of any established patterns or structures, creating sudden -- even radical -- change.

Uranus gives a strong impulse for rebellion, independence, and even shock. Exciting and liberating, Uranus can turn over anything traditional, conventional or orthodox in its path which it deems no longer of value or having outlived its usefulness. This planet produces quick, liberating results, blending fact with intuition in its quest to discover universal truths. Yet because it is considered the higher octave of the highly intellectual planet Mercury, Uranus is strongly objective, rather than emotional. Those with strong Uranian influences in their charts are trailblazers and forerunners in their crowd. Since Uranus also holds sway over social change, it also regulates the global brotherhood of man and all humanitarian concerns, including environmental issues.

Uranus rules the sign Aquarius and electricity. It also rules astrology, and most good astrologers have a prominent Uranus in their charts (yes, you are in good hands--I have Uranus on the horizon, exactly on the "ascendant"). This planet stays in a sign for seven years and therefore takes 84 years to circle the zodiac.

Wow, that's pretty cool stuff. My ruling planet is Uranus... that was what I looking specifically for. My secondary (?) ruling planet is Mercury.... put the two in a blender and you basically have a Toose cocktail!

Too bad your secondary planet isn't Mars.

Then you would have a red a*s. :D

oh, sorry, I would have just posted on Uranus then. We all have other planets at different locations and basically this is the crux of astrology. Where every planet is in your chart on the date of your birth explains your personality and sometimes your future outcome, because each planet has a particular personality. A planet will move through another planet's orbit and they will affect one another - and that will in turn affect you. The planets are constant, and the science of location and travel is the basis for the science of reading personality via the stars (rather than just charting space to chart space - astronomy). technically astrologists stole the name that astronomers wanted - or rather, got to it first. but then I think they're entitled to it considering it's a much older science practiced way before Galileo even looked up at the sky.

I've got some business deals cooking. I just wonder how the stars look for a guy like me for endeavors like this... say anything like that?

I've had a successful business in the past but it turned south when the economy started falling. I'm working on something a little less risky...

I beg to differ... there is no light without darkness, no yin without yang... I see what you're saying especially about the word choice but we're all split.
d'oh!! I've just started reading this thread, and figured it was too late to get my chart read. Yours is the same date, one year later though, so I guess that'll do!

I am an aquarius- but I don't really go for that type of stuff, I read it once in a while but just for fun. This thread reminds me of the debate t-shirt for last year. It had a picture of a baby, with 'Meet Leet' on it, then at the bottom it went, 'Leet is a pisces. Are you?' and then on the back it was 'Debate: Make New Friends'. I wonder if anybody took us seriously...:p

This reminds me of a funny story. For some reason my sister decided to get married in Vegas. We all went out there.

One of my father's business associates at the time decided to show up with his wife at one of the parties. She supposedly was a Christian and a psychiatrist. For some reason she had undergone cosmetic surgery multiple times, including having lips done so that they looked like they had lipstick on. She also had her eyebrows done so that basically they were a tattoo, I guess. My mom said that her doctor had finally told her he wouldn't do any more surgeries. Anyhow, I thought it was odd that a Christian psychiatrist had such a poor self-image that she had surgeries until the point where she looked like the mother in the movie "Brazil."

At some point, she started asking me what my sign and my fiance's sign were. I politely said I didn't know. Then she said, "Well, what are your birth dates?" I again quietly said, "We're really not into that." She persisted, and I again politely said, "We're really not interested in astrology." She then insisted that I tell her our birthdates to which I replied, "WE BELIEVE ASTROLOGY IS AN ABOMINATION TO GOD!"

Needless to say, the table got quiet and we moved on to other topics.

There's nothing like a Christian psychiatrist that is addicted to plastic surgery and enamored with astrology.

Since the lip and eyebrow tattooing would not have required a surgeons skill, I am assuming she also had had plastic surgery of some type… Do you know if the surgery and follow-up tattooing could have possibly been done in an attempt to correct some type of deformity/disfigurement?

I ask because I read an article (think it was in the New England Journal of Medicine) about people who had to have reconstructive surgery on their faces after automobile accidents… one woman had her lip color tattooed on because they basically had to fill in pieces that were missing and the tattooing evened the color out and camouflaged the scars… another had suffered severe burns to the upper portion on her face that required rather extensive skin graphs. She had to wear a special hairpiece to fill in the front section of her hair and have her eyebrows tattooed on because she didn’t have any…

As far as a poor self image, society can be very mean spirited when it comes to someone looking a bit out of what is the accepted norm… Christians included.

It was all cosmetic, nothing reconstructive. My mom had known her for years before the surgeries and said she was a pretty woman back then, so it wasn't societal pressure. It was pure vanity. She didn't need to correct any deformity or disfigurement, and she didn't look unusual until after the surgeries.

The plastic surgery was multiple times: nose, chin, face lift, etc. That's what I was talking about her having so many surgeries that her face looked like the woman from Brazil.
