Hello there, MoFos.

Just thought I'd let you all know that I'm going to be out of town over the next couple weeks; I'll be spending Christmas with my girlfriend's family in North Carolina (she goes to school here). I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon (December 21st) and will be back on January 2nd.

Horrifically, there's not Internet connection in their house, so I'll only be able to check in every 2-3 days, most likely.

When I get back, I plan to kick off the New Year with a couple new features I've been planning, as well as a look back at both MoFo and the movies of 2007.

Happy Holidays to all of you!

Maybe you can make your own internet out of sticks and rocks, like the Perfessor from Gullivan's Island. Anyway the tropical climate of North Carolina (unless you're up in the mountains) should be a nice change from Pittsville. Good Luck and have fun!

Have a nice holiday. Oh, and what's wrong with putting an apostrophe there?

Well, then you've foiled yourself and accidentally applied the punctuation correctly. Perhaps this should tell you to just do the opposite of your instinct when it comes to grammar, punctuation and usage?

Have a great time Chris… and don't worry about the board. The mice might play a wee bit but if any rats show up, they'll be history… ;)

And Holden, I hope you have a great trip too…

Merry Christmas... :)

Happy Holidays to all! Have a great trip Holden!

I'm here in San Mateo (Northern CA), where it's colder than a twitches wit, around 52 degrees F. Brrrrrr...!

Thanks for the kind words, guys; just spent a little over an hour catching up on some stuff and posting a review of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (http://www.movieforums.com/reviews/walk_hard_the_dewey_cox_story.html).

Having a great time in Asheville and looking forward to a lot of the fesitivities tonight and tomorrow. Hope you're all having a Merry Christmas. I'll try to pop in again in a couple days. :)

I get out of Portland and they promptly get a few inches of snowfall - even with the climate change in recent years, still very unusual. But Maryland is in the 50s and clear, just lovely. Kee-ray-zee.

Well, I got back yesterday, and am still unpacking/settling in a bit. Still a few things to catch up on, and the weekend's going to be pretty busy, so I probably won't be back into my usual routine until Monday.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words, and an extra-special thanks to the Mods for checking on the site when I couldn't, and to Austruck and 7thson for graciously giving a bit of their own time to offset my absence.

Gee, this place runs like a well-oiled machine, my friend. Your current mods shouldered the load completely. I didn't "do" anything, except snoop around the stuff I had access to while temporarily deputized. :D

If any mods quit on ya, though, keep me in mind.

So, do you change the Yoda avatar every year and I just never noticed the pattern before?

Yoda
01-03-08, 02:53 PM
I change it every now and then, though rarely more than once every 6-8 months. This time, I wanted to ditch the santa hat now that we're into the New Year, and just decided to go back to the Yoda sketch thing rather than the one I had before.

I've got at least a dozen decent ones to choose from and it's fun to switch them around a bit. It creates the illusion that I'm evolving and maturing as a human being.

Austruck

Errr, but you're not a human being....You're a ... whatever Yoda is.

Almost forgot to detail the movies I saw while I was away (most for the first time).

In theaters:

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (review (http://www.movieforums.com/reviews/walk_hard_the_dewey_cox_story.html))
Charlie Wilson's War (review (http://www.movieforums.com/reviews/charlie_wilsons_war.html))
National Treasure: Book of Secrets (review (http://www.movieforums.com/reviews/national_treasure_book_of_secrets.html))
Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem (review (http://www.movieforums.com/reviews/aliens_vs_predator_requiem.html))
Juno (review coming)
Across the UniverseRented:

The Seven Year Itch
The Host
Zodiac
3:10 to Yuma (original)
Keeping the FaithOwned:

The Simpsons Movie
Sleuth
To Catch a ThiefThat's fourteen in all, not counting all 13 episodes of the now defunct TV series Wonderfalls. I'd have probably gotten more in if not for all the holiday fesitivites, too.

Suffice to say, I had a great time.

Glad you had a nice trip Yods :yup:

I am shocked to learn that a girlfriend of yours doesn't have the internet  ;D

Yoda
01-03-08, 05:06 PM
Hehe, yeah. She's got a connection at her apartment on campus, of course, but back home her dad doesn't have much use for it day-to-day, I suppose. Probably just as well, though, as having less access probably facilitated the possibility that I'd actually rest a little on my vacation.

I know what you mean about facilitating relaxation :yup: I went on a house boat with friends for 4 days we didn't even have phone reception  but it was good, really :yup:
