I thought that with all the different holidays, we could have one specific thread for sharing them. I have some pictures that I'm going to post, of the Trunk-or-Treat that we went to last night, but I don't have the time right now. Just in case anyone is curious as to what that is. Well, I'm gone for now, for a busy day with the kids, so . . .

Happy Halloween! Today I made a pumpkin-lantern for the first time, yay me! If anyone knows how to cook the insides of a pumpkin, let me know ;)

Me too! :)

My pumpkin pies are better than Sarah Lee.

My grandmother taught me the best way to "not" cut your hands up. Take a spoon, and clean out the inside of the pumpkin the best you can. Cut it into 2-4 pieces, depending on how large it is, leaving the skin on. Bake it in your oven, on a low heat, until it is soft inside. Have it on a tray, but still be careful, because some juice will fill up inside of it. Once it is soft, remove, and let cool. Then skin it. Packaged properly, you can freeze it, and use it for a long time to come.

Remember, remember the fifth of November, gunpowder, treason and plot....

We had out sparklers on Saturday night, but it sounds like plenty of my neighbours think they have to do it on the actual night. Thought about watching V for Vendetta as a themed movie but probably wouldn't be able to hear it over the fireworks anyway!

Well, it's 10 days until Christmas, and I haven't even started shopping yet. I do that tomorrow. I've not even finished my decorating yet. I hope to do that by tomorrow, as well. Yeah, who the hell am I kiddin'!?! Part of me wants it over and done with, and the mess cleaned up. That isn't my normal attitude, as I normally go all out, just as insane as Mr. Clark Griswold. I also have the same bad luck with my lights. Well, I know where mine turn on at, I just have about 100 dead, to half dead strands, from the past 2-3 years. I zapped myself again this year, too. One would think I would learn my lesson, when it comes to these lights. It's just that when they are plugged up, while you are hanging them out, you can get a better feel for how they are going to look. Yep, I got a better feel alright. They looked nice and tingly! :p So with a tad less than 10 days and counting, I hope the rest of you are coming along nicely with your plans for the perfect holiday. If by chance you aren't, just remember, you're not alone . . .

So here's to running late, and going broke! Ain't nothin' like the holidays, to really stress you out.

So how many of you try to fix your broken Christmas lights? I've got a whole dag gone box full of those little blinkys that worked last year and they only half work or don't at all now. I love how they claim on the box that one burned out bulb won't short the whole string, but guess what? THEY LIE!

I do, if some of the strand is still working. If the whole strand blows, I simply see if the bulbs are black, and if not, I pluck them for future use. Yes, I'm your grandmother, trapped inside a 38 year old woman, trying to salvage every last thing she possibly can. :D

The little lights are not twinkling.

I know Art, and thanks for noticing!

Yeah, I've got bags of the things too. Trouble is, every time I buy a different string, the old ones don't fit so I have to remove the bulb and then put it into the new socket, A rather lengthy process if you're trying to fix a whole string. Oh woe is me...

We bought two presents so far and the two ppl already opened them. We still need to buy for 33 other people lmao...My side of the family is expanding with new babies and spouces. Jason's side has two sets of parents, 3 siblings, each with spouces or partners and one baby. Luckily we can double up, give one present for couples. Then we have a few close friends to buy for. I am making a few gifts and going to second hand stores for a lot of the gifts because we are so poor these days.

There is suppose to be a snow storm this morning and over the next couple days we are getting 20-25 cm of snow. We already have 2 feet of snow on the ground.....this winter is brutal! Reminds me of the winters I had as a kid with snow up to my waist and I would lose a boot in the snow bank.

I'm leaving for my first shopping trip, in roughly an hour. God help anyone who gets in my way! :D

I normally do this $#*% on-line. Damn schedule.

I love helping decorating the tree. It is so much fun. My dad brings it in after he goes and cuts one down and then we start with the lights. Every year at least one strand of lights don't work. :) Then we put the ribbon around the tree(looks like garland). Then all the ornaments(my favorite part). We do this to christmas music that puts us in the festive spirit(although my dad sings along sometimes and ruins it). :)

I have to have Christmas movies running nonstop, while I decorate.

Yes, Peace and Love to All My Friends here. Just remember to take a deep breath when you get mad and when you're happy, just remember to never forget why. :)
