So, most of you have probably noticed that there's been a change in the navigation 'round these parts. Essentially, I did away with that clunky gray box with the breadcrumb and links, moving the links into the blank space beneath the header buttons, and moving the breadcrumb to a thin black strip just below that.

This makes much better use of the space on everyone's screens; the gray bar was originally designed to house a dropdown jump menu (like the Forum Jump) on the far right, but I scrapped that some time ago, leaving only space. As it so happens, it's enough space to fit most of the navigation links.

The end result is a more integrated look, and several less inches of scrolling on every page.

As a result, of course, there's a bit less information on display. At the moment, however, you should still receive notices about new messages, comments, and reputation on the forum home page. If you have one of these three things, it will display a link. If you have more than one, it will display a menu listing them. I might be tweaking the way this works, and am still trying to find a good place to display the "X number of posts" message.

Anyway, just wanted to have a thread handy in case there were any questions about/issues with the changes.

OK, I knew something was new.... Just couldn't figure out what...

Well, apparently the change was a lot subtler than I gave it credit for. :) I guess that's a good thing, though, as part of the idea is to have things blend together a bit more naturally.

Like 'Buzz' here, something registered in my brain that the site was different but before I'd figured out what it was I decided I liked it and thought no more.

Life is delightfully uncomplicated sometimes. :D

Actually, no. I mean, it hasn't always been around, but that's only new since the last forum upgrade, which was awhile ago.

What happened to the "New Reputation" notice.

It shows up on the top right, underneath the log out button
