Yes, I know, they bother me too. :( I'm trying to think of a way to fit them in more gracefully, but I'm not sure if it can be done. I hope they don't bother any of you too badly. What I really hope, though, is that they make enough to justify the inconvienence. For onw, the money they pay out really isn't much...It's all I can get for the time being, though. I have to try to build up more traffic if I want to get into a better program, I think.
Anyway, I'm sorry for putting them up...and I understand if some of you guys are ticked off. If they end up making miniscule amounts of money anyway, I'll take them down until something worthwhile comes by. I'll also keep a BIG lookout for other ways I can try to make a living off of this site (how cool would it be if I could do this as a job, and devote so much time to it?)...if I can find a way to make some money WITHOUT these ugly banners, I'll do what I can to make it work.
Thanks guys, I hope it isn't too bothersome. One thing you can take comfort in is that, yes, popup ads are an absolute LAST resort...so I don't think you'll have to worry about those. :)

Actually, they really don't bother me that much. I mean yeah I'm used to not seeing the, but they're not as annoying as a popup would be. So for now, I don't have a problem with them. :D

It didn't even register with me that there were ads here now until I saw this thread.
The ads look fine to me. Just don't put any of those annoying flashing pink neon, you have won a prize, click now type banners. Those are REALLY annoying. :)

Saw one on one of the pages, so just be on the look out. :D
Other than that, all of the banners are tame
Yeah, I specifically disabled some of the campaigns that had particularly seizure-inducing banners...so hopefully they'll be kept to a minimum. :)
A word of advice: don't use FastClick.com expecting to make much money. They're not counting the bulk of the impressions this site is getting. Despite the fact that we average 2,000+ a day, it's only counted 400 or so since I first put them up! Anyway, I've deactivated all their campaigns, and put the banner for Ryan's film "...almost" into the rotation, so it should be the only thing displaying eventually...but it takes awhile to update, it seems (how convienent...for FastClick, that is).
What a waste...and to think this whole time you guys could've been surfing a banner-free site. I could've, too. Crap. I'm gonna get Ryan's running and try to rotate it with other movie website banners....trade ads or links with them or something like that to get more people here. I'll just have to build up some traffic and see if I can get enough to start making money through affiliate programs and such...or maybe get enough traffic to join a nice, reliable advertising program.
We shall see. Sorry that the space essentially went to waste. I made damn near nothing on it. FastClick sizzucks. :furious:

Do they just not give credit for the PSAs they serve? That's pretty much all I see when I browse the site.
Oh well, better for me that they're so bad. :)
Thanks for using my ad and all the other things you've done to promote my movie.
No need to thank me. I just hope it does some good. Don't have any other banners to put up there for now anyway. And yeah, I guess they just count things oddly. Maybe they only count unique hits...although, unless they're REALLY picky about that, something else must be up, too, because I've gotten a lot more than 400 uniques since they've been up. According to SiteMeter.com, on good days I get that many in a DAY...not over a couple weeks.
Even now it's still roating those craptacular banners. I changed the settings to deactivated them LAST NIGHT. These guys are whack. I think I'm gonna take it down and put yours up "manually," so to speak, Ryan. Sorry to everyone in advance for having just one banner running all the time, because I realize it becomes sort of boring. I'll find other banner ads to rotate with it or something down the line.
Ok, the ads have been taken off the forums, but Ryan's ad is still on the other pages (the content pages, basically). I'll keep it this way for now, but I might stick some back up on the forums for link trades and such.

Why did you do away with them?

They made virtually nothing at all, and weren't worth the annoyance.

Just jokin'.

Joking, eh? Hmmmm. :) Let me think...other ways....well, the plan, for now, is to put up a few links to buy things through Amazon/AllPosters...we'll get a commission on each sale that way...and it doesn't cost you guys anything more than it would...so, if you want to buy from one of those places, you could just click on some link here, or use some search box, etc, and it'd help the site without costing you anything extra, other than a minute or so of time.
Other than that, I'm gonna try to drive more traffic here and sell advertising myself a bit. I do hope to get it active enough, though, that I can join a larger adnetwork...those places are still pretty reliable.
FYI: I'm sticking banners up again, as I've been accepted by an ad network. We'll see if it does me any good. :) Thanks for putting up with the inconvienence.

Why the flashing banners, though?:bawling:
I didn't choose which went up...they're in rotation. I'll see if I can de-activate some of the more seizure-inducing ones, though.

Maybe I should have my eyes checked.;D

I may have already one so says one banner.
I'm just playin. Whatever brings home the bacon. :D
I made $1.83 yesterday. Yay. That's good...if that keeps up, it'll cover all hosting costs each month and I'll have enough left over for a large popcorn. It'll go up after I get enough Survey (http://www.movieforums.com/survey) responses, though. After like 250 you qualify for targetted campaigns.
