Hello MoFos,

Just wanted to let you guys know that I'll be sending out email reminders to inactive users sometime over the next week, most likely. In the case of users who registered but never activated their account, I'll most likely delete them. This might cause quite a drop in the 15,000+ member count on the home page; several thousand, at least.

Sometime after that, I'll probably send out a similar reminder to users who haven't logged in in, say, 6 months or so, though probably without any pending deletion.

Just thought you'd want to know, in case you notice the member count dropping, or if any of you pranksters receive emails on alternate accounts. ;)

I guess this means we can say so long to old members who've disappeared, such as Psychic Isaac, who probably predicted his ultimate deletion would come.

I move to extend the purge; affecting not only members who have been inactive but also members who have not said anything intelligent for 6 months or so. That should clear things up. ;)

Funnily enough, I actually was thinking specifically of Psychic Isaac when I posted this thread.

Noooooooo. He knew so much. Of dog thought. And the ultimate ways to clean ears.

What if he returns to us and we're not worthy?

Now you've done it...

I guess this means Santa's at risk of being cut too?

Can we make a petition to save Psychic Isaac and Santa? :D

Just to reduce any possible worry: longtime members who haven't posted or visited in awhile aren't in any imminent danger here. I'm just starting with people who have unactivated accounts, and even when I progress to registered members, I'll probably only prune those without any posts...and even then, probably only those who haven't visited in awhile (6 months, possibly a year).

If and when it ever gets past that (unlikely), some sort of post count exemption will always exist. Odds are anyone who's posted even once will probably be safe, if not forever, then for quite awhile.

I've actually wondered why more forums don't do this to the non established members anyways. Ones with less than say 50 and under posts for example. There are just too many of these and even more of the 0, 1 and 2 post posters taking up a ton of good names.

Well, today I purged almost 8,000 accounts. The first batch was based on the following criteria:

The account had not been activated
The account had not seen any activity in at least a month
The account had 0 posts. The others were based on the same criteria as above, but included accounts with had been activated.

Just thought you'd all wanna know.
